What devices is the app compatible with?

Currently, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 family (5, 5P, 5X), and the Gamebuds are the only models compatible with the SteelSeries Arctis Companion App.

Will other devices be compatible in the future?

At this time we do not have any information to share about future compatibility. Be sure to stay tuned to our socials and newsletter for any future announcements!

To use the app I should buy a new headset? In my opinion that is the wrong way. The app should work with the other headsets too. And there has to be an app directly on the Xbox like Razer and Astro did the set presets and settings.

Definitely need to add support for other headsets.

I doubt new hardware is required for the app to work with it. Like should be able to connect via Bluetooth for it all.

If this is not the case then maybe they should include this in the FAQ but it seems they are not because it might be possible but they don't wanna confirm just yet.

Is doesn't allow all thr same features and the presets are limited. The ones on Sonar for PC are not all available for loading onto the transmitter box and switching of settings should be able to be done via the app and maybe even updates also instead of having to plug it into a PC.

The customizable parametric EQ & effects, mic EQ+effects+filters, full access to presets for individual games, etc. I have the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset. If a firmware update could be developed so the secondary USB on the base would recognize connection with a mobile device, and a mobile native Sonar app developed that could connect to the base station over that USB connection...we'd have a solid solution for those of us console gamers without a PC. Most current flagship mobile devices would easily run Sonar no problem. Just my 2 cents

i think even in the best case scenario, there'd be a very bad delay if the audio has to go console > headset > phone > headset. i think i see some people already confusing the app thinking it's a mobile version of sonar, when in reality it's more like a mobile version of engine. i guess the new chips added the parametric eq support natively compared to the older graphical EQ that's on all older headsets.

With all due respect, that quite literally makes zero sense. The Arctis Nova Pro base station has 2 USB connections. One of the big selling points to that specific headset is the "Multi-System Connect" feature. You don't need the headset itself hooked up to your PC along with the base station to use Sonar & it's features. And even if that were the case, there's still the 3.5mm I/O on the base station that I could use to connect the base station to the PC's audio I/O or sound card. To put it simply...your math ain't mathing facepalm

I think it would be even better if they added the sonar interface to the mobile app so that the EQ/DB/Q parameters could be adjusted. Is it too much to ask? Perhaps.

True. Very true, in fact. I do realize the current iteration as released is more akin to Engine than Sonar, but (this a bigger but than Kim K or those big booty chicks on IG & X 🤣)...it's a great building block, stepping stone, whatever you wanna call it. Steelseries showed that they know how to make a high quality, feature packed, mid-range price point, mobile app equipped headset...plus its got cross-platform compatibility, which is arguably the best feature of all. All I'm saying is 1.) Job well done, and 2.) Going forward, Steelseries should really consider being more forward thinking when it comes to the software side of things, so that all product users have access to the incredible suite of software tools this company has made available to us.

as i understand it, the headset can really only "save" one EQ at a time, and you use the app to push a different EQ to the headset as needed.

I think you can also use this fact to transfer EQs from desktop to mobile by saving it to the headset then connecting the app, but I don't have the headset so I wouldn't be able to test to confirm it.

the nova 5 is the first and currently only SS headset to support full parametric EQ on board, compared to the 10 band EQ on all the other headsets. so all the fancy EQs from Sonar are on the app for use on consoles.

hello guys i have question about the sound notifications of my mobile phone on artic nova pro wireless.
My sound is pretty normal on my PC, when i play video from mobile and get sound from headset with bluetooth it's good too. But when i get messages, or mail, or any notifications on mobile, seems sound is maximum and it hearts ^^ We can't control sound notifications? why media are good and not notifications? it's something i need to set on iphone settings ?

Hello, I have a problem with the rival 5 mouse in Fortnite, when I move the mouse up, the movement is made down on the monitor, the same thing happens when I move the mouse down, so please answer as soon as possible because I have nothing to do 🙂 and that this didn't happen either and it will be in the steelseries GG application or in fortnite.

In the GG app, does Sonar presets not sync with Engine? It seems only engine presets sync with the mobile Companion app.

no, sonar runs only on the PC it's used on, it doesn't transfer to the headset

Engine is used to modify device settings. Generally, any changes made in Engine are saved to the device itself, and can be carried over to other devices such as consoles. It's recommended to check the SteelSeries support pages for more information on what is saved on-board for your particular product.

Sonar is used to enhance your audio on the PC that is currently running it. Changes in Sonar only apply to the machine it's running on and cannot be saved to the headset.

Dont have access to pc so cant make use of custom EQ's i guess. What is the best all around EQ preset on the arctis companion app? The one I have been started on is called Flat? If im playing certain games I will just choose the specific EQ for the games. But what about for everything else?

I'm tearing my hair out trying to get the ios app to connect to my brand new arctis nova 7p gen 2. Is there a faq or common troubleshooting somewhere? It connects fine on bluetooth, but the app is never able to connect to it.

I have a problem with it tho, Bluetooth EQ settings do not save on my Nova 7 gen 2.....
It only retains the EQ while it's on, after an ON/OFF it forgets it, seems to be a bug in the firmware, since it's both in GG and the iOS app....

Anyone else having these issues?

If the mobile app cannot find the device, please delete the Bluetooth pairing and re-pair. After successfully reconnecting, return to the app and search again.

I noticed that the Arctis Nova 7 (Gen 1) recently received an update that made it compatible with the SteelSeries app, which was previously a feature reserved for the Gen 2 models.

Since SteelSeries has already brought this functionality to an older headset, it makes me wonder if the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless could also receive a similar update.

From a logical standpoint, it would make sense, considering the Nova 7 (Gen 1) is now getting app support as well.

Is there any chance this feature could be coming to the Nova Pro Wireless in the future?
