when i go to launch the engine, on task manager it shows steel series gg and others but specifically the "steelseries gg client" section is up for a couple of seconds then goes away, i can not open the actual window. my pc recognises it as open on my task bar (the section on the bottom right next to the time and date that shows the icons of open apps)

Hello, just purchased the arena 7s to go with my setup and also using a nova pro headset. Is there any way to automatically shift all sound (input and output) to my nova pros when its turned on? Currently everything goes through the new speakers even when i turn on the headphones and i have to manually direct sound to the novas. Any help here?

Try connecting the speakers to the base station. I believe the audio will play out of both at the same time, but maybe reaching out to mute/lower volume on the speakers is easier than sonar?

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in GG. You can find it under Settings > Sonar > Backup Device Switch.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same options menu. Simply scroll down to see the full list of devices.

if you just wanted a USB > Analog audio thing, really anything on Amazon would probably be fine.

if you specifically want support in Engine, then you can buy a GameDAC since they're USB devices with Engine support.

though in either case, this won't give engine support specifically for the headset. analog headsets don't have support in Engine at all, and everything is analog (the DAC would just make the analog conversion on an external device)

I just really wanted a decent headset with side tone functionality, as well as the rest of the engine functions seeming useful, I owned a different arctis headset that had the side tone by default and really liked the feedback. Pretty sure it’s unrelated to the headset itself but I’ve also started to have really bad crosstalk with my aux since it’s a combined mic/headset port

ah yeah, sidetone is generally only on USB headsets since you need the audio to be repeated "sooner" in the chain so it doesn't have a delay. I'm not too sure if the GameDAC would solve this since I don't know if they have sidetone features.

however the crosstalk issues could be a noise issue anywhere along the headset (from the plug to the wire to the unit itself) so if you're getting a lot of crosstalk, it's possible that switching to a DAC won't fix this, so I'd be more inclined to suggest buying a different headset. I think the Nova 3 has the same MSRP as the Arctis Prime so that might be good? depending on sales that is...

font can't be changed, it was recently updated to a bitmap font that supports international characters/emoji so it probably won't be changed back

system monitor needs permissions to access system information so yes, it's going to ask for permission in Windows each time. you can turn off UAC if you want but that's a bad idea from a security standpoint.

Hi all - my steelseries engine seems to crash pretty frequently -- not entirely sure under what conditions, but it happens every few days and is quite annoying. It looks like there's a go runtime panic (in the gg-errorlog.txt), and quite a lengthy callstack with a bunch of goroutines. Okay so issues so far I've encountered trying to use my Artic 1's wirelessly they do not pair at all to the PC.
Single USB C dongle in my motherboard or with the Type A to C adapter did not work, driver updates / resets did not work and trying to pair with the chargign cable and 3.5mm jack cable did not work for the headset. no idea as to why they won't connect. VPN's disabled tried to run the software in compatibility mode for windows 8 / admin as well with no hope.

Yo, yesterday I downloaded the GG app because I bought the Arctis 5 but since i downloaded it when I press on CTRL, Shift, Caps, Tab, and ‘~ It auto clicks on the whole line. So for example. I press on SHIFT it also presses automatically on ZXCVBNM. I press on Tab i presses on QWERTYUIOP. I cant find a fix online and have tried everything.

check your language settings in both Engine and windows. you could have the input set to french which has AZERTY instead of QWERTY

I don't think it's possible to bind the CPI switch button on the keyboard, but you can always make some more configs with only one CPI level, and use a keybind to change configs.

also, I don't think you can overwrite the meta layer key unless you have another key set to be the meta layer? idk never tried but it feels important enough

@smoky crane i realized the one thing i had not tried is to reinstall the software. reinstalling the software, while my headphones were turned on, worked. the exact thign i did was exit GG, uninstall GG, reboot, install new GG, reboot, headset was connected and needed a firmware update, so i updated the firmware, and turned off and on the headset, and it works perfectly now. now i know i probably didn' need those reboot steps, but eh, i wanted to make darn sure things got done properly.

There's a way to import an EQ via a link but why can't we thrn import that EQ straight onto the Mixamp Engine software? Seems redundant not to have this feature

it's because Engine uses a different EQ than Sonar. Sonar has parametric EQ with features like high/low shelving, notch EQ, and high/low pass filters that can be placed anywhere on the spectrum. the EQ in engine is just a basic graphical EQ with just peaks at predefined zones.

If you're using Sonar, make sure the headset is at the top of your backup device list. If not, check your sound settings and make sure the headset is set to the default output device

there seems to be some issues with apex pro tlk newest update or so. Something in GG makes it so that you cant configure leds, and forces them to be dark.
after deactivating keyboard from prism and restarting computer, the keyboards own settings allows to set them up through its OLED. But if you try to change the leds through GG, the leds go dark again.

you can "turn it off" for one specific device, you just need to open the system monitor app in Engine, select your device, and then click "edit" next to each thing and remove them

once it's all removed, i think just a quick volume change should refresh the screen and bring it back to normal

Is there a SteelSeries official support site where I can download previous software versions? It seems like the newest versions of GG are making it so none of my devices are not detected or connecting to GG, but they function and are detected by my Mac without problems. I used the same devices on this Mac and all devices were recognized/detected/connected to GG just fine. I don't know how to fix this and wanted to see if just rolling back the software a few versions would allow them to work again...

When you download the current version it gives you the download URL to that version. You can then take that URL and change the number to get older versions straight from SteelSeries :)

Got a couple bits of feedback here -- I've had an Apex Pro TKL Wireless for almost 2 weeks now and overall, really love it. I already had an Apex Pro wired and it's my favorite keyboard!

1. Are there any plans to store PRISM lighting profiles on the keyboard? Having to keep GG running and not having my profile applied 24/7 is such a bummer. The Apex Pro wired stores color profiles onboard. This feels like such a huge disconnect.
2. When the keyboard goes into standby, pressing a key to wake it up causes the default rainbow profile to flash briefly before applying my custom profile.
3. When GG isn't running (or crashes in the background), the keyboard also reverts to this default color scheme, which is distracting/annoying.

I've noticed some variation of these gripes on Reddit and in reviews, and it seems to be the biggest downside. I'd love to see this implemented -- I'd venture to say it'd make this keyboard nearly perfect.

Secondly, I noticed I can't charge the keyboard with a wall adapter and use it at the same time 😭 That is a huge huge bummer. Keyboard dies mid-game? I'm SOL basically. I use this in a living room HTPC setup where my PC tower is across the room. I'm not keen on plugging it in with a cord strung along the floor -- it's why I got the wireless version after all 😉

When it's plugged into a wall adapter and it's turned on, it gets a signal briefly and then flashes, disconnects, and keeps trying to reconnect indefinitely, but it doesn't hold a stable connection. This happens even when the board is well above 0% battery.

Nevermind I figured it out.
For future reference, here's what you need to do:

1. Make your default profile.
2. Duplicate your default profile, changing the buttons on your device to how you want them to be while the first button is held.
3. On your default profile, change the button you want to use as your "hypershift" so whenever it is pressed DOWN, it switches to your other profile. Do the same for your other profile, but when the "hypershift" button is pressed UP, it switches to your default profile.

Same thing with Apex Pro TKL, after last 2-3 updtes - lightning is broken

Even Prism disappeared from me, it would only appear if I enable it through keyboard settings. Had to clean the app via Riva uninstaller. After that Prism appeared but its still not working properly, so I just disabled it and using default lighting control from Engine, which can fall off sometimes and there would be no lights at all, until I replug keyboard.
I hope anyone from Support team would notice this issue.

I have been experiencing problems with SteelSeries GG and my new Apex Pro TKL for the past month. As soon as I install it, my LEDs stop working, so I have no lighting on my keyboard. I have repeatedly tried resetting it and reinstalling the software, but nothing helps. This is without logging into my account, so that option is ruled out. Is this a known issue with SteelSeries GG? check your settings in sonar, sonar might be switching the outputs to something else via fallback

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in GG. You can find it under Settings > Sonar > Backup Device Switch.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same options menu. Simply scroll down to see the full list of devices.

I had to, and i don't know why the hell this fixed it, connect it to a secondary computer, install steelseries GG fresh on that, and it's drivers, and then factory reset it whilst connected to that

I had already clean re-installed all drivers, steelseries, and even factory reset/recalibrated on my original computer

So not sure why having it connect to a new one, and then return to the original resolved it

Just thought you'd like to get an update; I sent multiple logs to steelseries support, but I think I've found the culprit, the discord engine app was active, even though the slider reflects the app being Disabled, meaning it was attempting to take over lighting of half the keyboard, even when it showed disabled, having toggled the slider on/off seems to have resolved it in its entirety

I don't have the pro, but my nova 7 is very similar. Honestly, if you would prefer not going through the hassle to set up an Equalizer, you'd be fine as most of those games are built around flat presets anyway. But if you want to get more kick out of sounds I'd recommend watching some videos on it.

My chatmix wheel doesn't work at all ATM on my Arctis 7+. I can see the dial in the app responding to me changing it on the physical headset, but it doesn't actually do anything.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?, Im using SignalRgb to control the rgb's in my computer, and i'm using steelseries prism for my peripherals, but since installing SignalRGB, light-effects wont work on my keyboard, (The peripherals are disabled in SignalRGB and active in steelseries GG) but it works for the mice

If i change config profile on the keyboard the colors will change to whatever is on the preview page, but i cant make the keyboard play animations.

what sort of "drivers" are you looking for? the headset should work with Windows out of the box. If it's not, make sure Windows is up to date.

I just found to have only reversed the 3.5. It's not as fool-proof, as you'd expect it to be. And you'd expect the curved part at the ear, that's where it is useful. Why would I need it at the DAC?

Many SteelSeries headsets come with Sidetone, which allow you to hear yourself through the headset’s mic for better clarity when talking.

For most headsets, the volume of the Sidetone can be lowered in SteelSeries Engine, which is part of GG. GG can be downloaded here: https://steelseries.com/gg

If you have a “Playstation” version of a headset (such as the Arctis Nova 7P) then your headset may have a physical wheel on the headset for turning the sidetone down.

For analog headsets that use the 3.5mm headphone port, sidetone may be generated by your on-board audio devices. Please refer to your computer manufacturer’s support for more help

Got an apex pro mini (not wireless)

I installed signalrgb to control my computer rgbs, after installing it prism doesnt work properly on my keyboard, even after i uninstalled signalrgb, i can change the colors, kind of, if i change config in GG app, but light effects doesnt work, its just a static version of whatever light effect i try.

It worked fine before i installed signalrgb

What annoys me the most is that signalrgb was annoying af, and asus have made armory a prerequisite for their rgb control app, so much bloatware just to control a few lights smh
