yeah, I've never used DA outside of games. usually the meta layer on the TKL is enough for me.

i did make my Enter key dramatically mute audio on early actuation then actually send Enter on full actuation as The Most Annoying Warning Possible, but other than being funny for 20 seconds, that's not very practical.

Meta layer is far more reliable. Can’t rely on myself to not press a key a key one mm too far and launch a convoluted macro against my will

depends how you can adapt to typing. I mean, it took me well over 2 months with my first linear optical keyboard (huntsman tournament) and mistyped so many times, and couldnt rest my fingers on my keys like I used to, but now I can type just fine on minimum actuation with my apex pro

I'm not sure about Engine 31. So far, I've had my computer freeze up requiring a hard (button press) reboot three times. Twice after the sound just stopped (was listening to iTunes once and a youtube video the second time), then had a freeze overnight. the only update to the computer was Engine 31, and there weren't any freezes before Engine 31.

Shortly after I bought them they came out with an update to lower the SideTone Volume and they don't work for me. Because you are using the rainbow preset, if you look in the engine app, you’ll see that you changed the color to purple on the sides but not in the overall section (which is rainbow) if you click on the chain icon near the rainbow preset is should alternate between purple and rainbow

Any way you guys can add a feature to lock in a selected input/output? I don't ever want mine to change from my Arctis Nova Pros, but your software scrambles to set everything but the novas as the default output/input every time I turn my PC on without my headphones already being on. It's annoying.

This didn't happen with my Arctis 7s - thinking about downgrading to those again just so I don't have this issue

I have various other issues with the Nova Pros that haven't been addressed but this is one that needs to be fixed.
Gonna @ a dev (@waxen reef #0991 seems to be responsive) - I've been dealing with this since I got the headset and this still hasn't been fixed, so it's high time I talk to a developer directly about it.

Except telling you to deactivate the fallback logic through settings, can't recommand you any other action :x
Are you running sonar on a laptop?

when we made the fallback feature logic, we tried to reproduce as much as possible windows logic.
This means that

1. plugging a new device => you switch on it
2. selecting a device makes it 1st on the list
3. Unplugging this device will trigger an auto switch on the next device
4. Plugging back this device will trigger an auto switch on itself

We are aware that this is (for now) a mysterious way to handle things, we hope to be able soon to give you the possibility to create a true list with your favorite choices about device priority

Please also note that on windows side, if you plug the same device on two different USB ports, it's considered as two different devices

Hi, I don't know if anyone can help me, but I've been having this issue for a while now, ever since they pushed the Sonar update. Everytime I connect, or remove a Steel series device the engine shits itself and my whole computer freaks out. The sonar settings will reset themselves, and I have to go back and set the output devices. Whatever program I'm in crashes, and it disables my ethernet. My mouse will also stop working during all of this. The usually lasts like 10 minutes before it returns to normal, or until I restart. These are the devices i have.

DTS is only on the Arctis 5, 7, 9, and Pro. It's not on the 7+, 7p+, Nova headsets, etc.... all of those headsets use the surround sound in Sonar.

DTS is virtual surround sound. it's just one of many. DTS, Dolby, Windows Sonic, 3D audio on PS5, etc

Sonar also has it under Spatial Audio

Each one has slightly different implementation/soundscapes so each one will sound different, but in the end they all do the same thing: they attempt to make surround sound feel good on stereo headphones

my arctis 5 is already few years old and the cups dont close perfectly anymore on the jawline beneath the ear so the noise canceling isnt much of a thing anymore on it.. but on the 7 i barely hear anything from the outside

I've had this error message pop up for the past month, i've been through 3 firmware updates and done thing that have fixed it in the past, eg unplugging from the pc itself then replugging, reinstalling .gg, and making sure both the dongle and mouse are both firmware updated. I was using my steelseries arctis 9 wireless headset for about 5-6 months. It was alright by the time. Since yesterday i can't use my headphones. They do not turn on, there is no that short beep that signaled that the headphones were working. Also in steelseries gg app i can't see "battery" as before, and it says "reconnect headset" (but i cant do it). This dongle, cables etc. - all working, but i can't pair them anymore. When i try to do it manually it says "pairing device failed". I have tried factory resset and pressing multiple variations of buttons.

I've had this error message pop up for the past month, i've been through 3 firmware updates and done thing that have fixed it in the past, eg unplugging from the pc itself then replugging, reinstalling .gg, and making sure both the dongle and mouse are both firmware updated. I would do some research on running System File Checker. I've had this happen on Steel Series and on NZXT.. I ended up having some corrupt files from my system crashing during an overnight run of playing DMZ

If you've already tried unplugging the dongle form your PC and restarting GG then it might just be a visual bug with GG. My Rival 650 wireless shows the same reconnect message, but I can still access and save settings to it

Hello people, anyone else having heavy C drive usage by sonar? its an m.2 970 evo with fairly decent benchmarks (seq read 3389MB/s & seq write 2325 MB/s ) but sonar is just constantly reading and writing untill i close the Disk using task, and then it doesnt do it anymore. i dont have moments turned on since i record with OBS on another drive. i havent found whats causing it or what is starting it up. when i close the disk using program it does not affect my audio in or output. Anyone else having similair issues? im playing Escape from Tarkov alot and its just killing my loading times because the disk is used by sonar..... its continuously writing on the SSD at 4 MB/sec making it slower and upping disk usage to 50%. turning sonar off and on in general fixes it. funny thing is, the task is not summarized under the Steelseries GG Client - its a task on its own so if i want to find it to close it manually in task manager i have to scroll down all the way in my background processes.
please mention me personally if you are responding to my post.

hi there! i know, rival 710 may be discontinued, but i still love it. the OLED screen and haptic feedback are super convenient for my everday use. and i surely enjoyed the vibration feedback after each bullet shot, when playing CS:GO (tried to imitate this for other games, but it really isnt the same). and speaking of CS:GO - there was an update for the engine, which would fix the above mentioned. and now it seems to have broken again 😦 can anybody confirm the same? and is there a solution?

Oh, you got the apex pro mini too, so there is a glitch or i don't know if it's a feature or not. First you activate prism in active layer, then you go to reactive and activate ripple and you have multiple colors with the ripple effect while pressing the key

How do I backup my mouse config settings?

There's not really an easy way to do it, unfortunately, but if you want to create a backup for your configs you can follow these steps:

1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\SteelSeries\GG
2. Each app in GG (Sonar, Moments, Engine) has their own folder. Navigate into the "apps" folder and go to the app you wish to backup
3. Find the database.db file in the db folder and copy/paste it into a safe location, such as your desktop or your documents
4. Uninstall and reinstall GG as needed
5. After GG is reinstalled, close GG, then copy/paste your backup DB file into their respective location, making sure to overwrite the DB file.
6. Open GG and your old configs/macros should be restored

So for example, the Engine DB file would be at C:\ProgramData\SteelSeries\GG\apps\engine\db\database.db

IMPORTANT NOTE: The DB file is only guaranteed to work on the GG version it's saved from. So if you saved your DB file from GG 34, and then try to restore it later on GG 35 or later, it will likely break. Therefore, we only recommend you do this if you're just uninstalling and reinstalling GG in one sitting.

Recently, I purchased the Prime Wireless mouse which completes my exodus from Razer Products fully over to Steel Series which was inspired by the lack of macOS support for peripherals.

Can I at least an eta for when the development for this will be going forward. I planned on using this mouse as a daily driver for work and the macros were important to my workflow process.

I also read this server often to see if there's any ideas I can steal make myself. 😅 I'm the one who made the Solar and Rainbow presets that were added recently. Both of those presets were made in Prism just like anyone else can, but then the effect was exported and sent to our devs to implement. I'll attach what the Solar preset looks like to show you.

One challenge to keep in mind is that presets are designed to work across all devices. So the Solar preset looks the same if you apply it to a keyboard, or an Aerox mouse, or the Arena speakers... So "simple" presets are great for implementing so that the most amount of people can take advantage of it

One thing that i figured out like two days ago, And you can test it yourself. When you use the meta binding to change profiles maybe because you want to change the lightings effect it also changes the profile preset so it modifies your actuation point

Hello there! It seems that I have encountered an issue with my Aerox 9 and Engine software. After assigning a macro to a side button and restarting my PC, the button only seems to work with the macro. Additionally, the default action no longer works, and the only solution seems to be creating a new profile. However, when I clone a profile, the bug follows it. In fact, my default profile is now plagued with this issue, where the S12 button, which was previously set with a macro, does not respond to any other actions outside of macros. Even when I clone the profile, the new profile still has the same problem. Therefore, I have to create a new profile in order for the S12 button's default action (=) to work again.

well, actually you can create several different profiles and bind them to any application. Let's say you wanna have your music profile active when Spotify's running. The Engine detects it and swaps to your music profile

Hey. Am I crazy or are the M1 - M6 keys on the Apex 5 completely unmappable? I can remap DEL, I can't remap M4 as an example. I've looking online and it's a problem going back 3 years. The only fix I can find is for Linux using a custom script. Anyone know of any thrid party software that will allow me to map a macro to the SteelSeries key plus M1 - M6?

As it stands even the steel Series key is useless. As you can't use it to activate the secondary functions which are M1 - M6. As it stands this mostly just looks like an artificial limit to force a user to buy the more expensive keyboard. Really disapoinited. It works fine in Linux with the script but no third-party exists that I can find. The keyboard is great buy I'm thanking of returning it in the morning as I got it for the M1 to M6 keys.

yeah, the apex 3 and apex 5 don't have customizeable meta layers, so you can't make any bindings with SS + M1. i don't think this limitation is artificial tho, since the apex 5 is actually just a membrane keyboard with fancy switches to press on the membrane... so the keyboard has a lot of rollover issues which may come up if you hold SS + other keys. i know i've seen people complain that they can't press Shift + W + Enter on the Apex 5...

Yeah. It's defo an artificial limit. I went and installed the linux script on my other test bench. It works fine. I can assign macros to a SS+M1. Rollover should not be an issue with two key presses. Otherwise you could not do CTR + C etc.

Guess I'm going to be spending way to long figuring out how to make some software that works on windows.

I'll go find the discord. Currently I just found it on the AUR. The script needs to be running at all times. It also needs to have some funky dependencies.

I'm guessing it's detecting the SS button press somehow then creating a key map. Give me a few hours to find the github, currently working on some AV1 OBS benchmarks.

ah yeah, it just sounds basically like an autohotkey script.... but still at that point, if the keyboard doesn't have the ability to save meta layer functions on-board then it's possible they just took the framework/cost savings on the apex 3 and used it to make the 5... so there may be a chip missing that would usually run it? idk, there's no schematics or teardowns online

Just got my Apex Pro TKL 2023 today, (which is also my first steelseries keyboard), and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to set up combo with Engine.
I cant seem to delete existing "on board profiles"

I tried opening settings, going into Profiles -> De/Activate Profiles and disabled the ones that i dont intend on using

But even after that, and reloading GG (restart from tray), it still shows up as on-board profiules and has the disabled delete button

afaik you can't fully delete the 5 on-board profiles. you can disable them from the oLED so the profile switch hotkey doesn't switch to them, but they'll still be in the memory

HI there GG team. Just wanted to query is it normal for my GG software to hang and crash every 1 to 2 days if i do not reboot my PC? Usually i only reboot my PC once a week or 2 weeks. But GG seems to hang/crash and default to windows sound. It require a restart of the software every 1 to 2 days. I check my memory and CPU total usage both hardly pass 60% max at any time but i still get the same issue. I have also check windows event logs system and application but i do not see any errors.

Nope, everything shows up as gaming output as intended. Only Discord shows up as registering sound in chat output, but still won't mute when the chatmix is turned.

Can we please get working functionality on macOS! The last update only included a minor bug fix. Seriously it's been a long time coming that it was promised to be on the roadmap!

Currently, there are no driver-based functions that work on Big Sur and Monterey. On newer versions of Mac, including macOS 11.x , macOS 12.x , macOS 13.x some features for keyboards and mice are not available yet. Adding support for these features is on our roadmap, as we continually deliver new ways to support gamers.

Did you get it working?

I'm currently using macOS and have SS GG working although macOS functionality is currently limited.

The biggest problem though is the fact that I can't control macros and a whole bunch of features on macOS.

It doesn't state any caveats to the macOS support, which seems like false advertising.

Don't get me wrong, I love my SteelSeries products, I have several in my home, and macOS support was the reason I switched over from Razer products.

Saying that it's on the roadmap for development when basic functionality is missing doesn't reassure the Mac user base when the issue has existed for a while.

Hi there, My friend has a problem with a Artics prime headset that doesnt show up as a device in the engine. Does someone else has this problem or is there a ez fix?

only USB headsets would show up in Engine. Since the Prime is an analog headset that uses 3.5mm, it won't show in Engine.

But how can she configure it in like an engine or like use different settings?

it doesn't have any on-board settings or anything like that, so there's nothing to configure

if she was so inclined she could use Sonar which works on all headsets, that has some EQ options. but Sonar would only work on whatever device it's setup on

Initially it didn't do this but after the last update my APEX PRO MINI test every time I click the SteelSeries button the color I set turns red and stops the lighting I set, I'd like to know how to disable this setting and despite the click see my chosen lighting continue without problems

If you follow the engine instructions of your steelseries divice it wil show up there

The gif is not on the keyboard. but in the software of your computer if im correct, so it wont work on xbox, only the computer you put it on.

Cuz you don't have to put it as your default output

You have to put gaming as default output

Then gon the windows volume mixer and set up the input and the output for each softwares you use

If you need to use chat output in discord for exemple select it on the volume mixer as discord output

Yup, it's a keyboard technology so the computer detects you are pressing the key
