- Rey's goals throughout the films is taking down the FO and figuring out her heritage. That seems fairly straight-forward.
- Luke's the only jedi master around, who else would she go to.
- She didn't get over it in Episode 7. More of a 'Well I can't find any clues on this desert so I might as well give up for now'. That interest comes back again once she's able to figure out who her parents are with Luke.

Third film, it comes back AGAIN when she figures out that Plapi is her grandfather, she moves on again and choses her own family. She actually has memory loss after the end of each film.
- I could be a bit more clear with this one. What we get from episode 7 is that they now have a map to luke and the Resistance choses to send...Rey out to find him and bring him back...why? Why not Wegde, Leia, 3P0 and everyone that he actually fucking knows?

That's the case for a lot of modern stuff because there's somewhat of a "formula" for getting your series big and thus, risking for something new is a difficult gamble
And that something new might have already been done before but it flopped for other reasons, so authors might not want to risk it
Especially in a magazine like wsj whwre the major genre is action, there's a clear saturation of it in the industry but it still works because people will gobble up something familiar rather than something different
Though I will say this, the anime adaptation of it is at least very good to look at
Which I think is one of the bigger factors for having a successful and popular anime

It's a way to gauge how the reception would be but it's also an indirect way of saying "this doesn't conform to the x-magazine formula of story structure but we'll at least try it out as a oneshot rather than give it a serialization directly"

There's a reason why like, the majority of sports manga are soccer/baseball based. It's simple, popular in japan, and there's a formula for success that you find in almost every soccer/baseball manga(though this is pretty much sports manga in general since almost all sports share large parts of structure with each other)
It's why I'm happy stuff like Blue Lock exist, because it's very non-standard in it's approach to soccer and it's having really good success
