Part 3 brought us Stands, and Stands are a pretty nice idea. The series is also pretty old but still holds up which is nice
Araki made some further improvements in concepts and made stuff interesting in future parts too
It's like Part 1, it started it all, was enjoyable but further parts would have more refined concepts

Maybe Araki just wanted duo scenes, with 2 crusaders each, but didn't have a good idea for Iggy back then ( I can't say for sure how far ahead plots were planned when the manga was being made) and he just had to find a way to write Kakyoin out of it

And by tension I mean stuff like 'we're going against some tough and more capable enemies now, someone has to get hurt to show it'

So why not the smart and capable member of the group, aka Kakyoin, hmm?

Couldn't take out Jotaro, he was necessary for the plot of many fights, he was essential + main character, can't take him out of the story
Avdol was out of the story for several chapters already, wouldn't be good to bench him for a long time again so soon
Iggy was just introduced, wouldn't make sense to have him exit immediately because what would be the point of introducing him in the first place

Polnareff would have maybe been a good option. He got into trouble on the regular, was the butt of all jokes, etc. But he was good for the sword fight with Anubis + he's the humor of the series - so hard to remove him from story
Joseph would be another ok choice but he's a character from a past part etc so not the most appealing to write out for a bit. He wasn't the main fighter of the group either, he was old so taking out an old man wouldn't be as impressive of a thread to the group
