they are kinda different. part 1 dio is more sadistic, he's just doing psychotic shit for fun. while part 3 dio still retains some of those traits, he's more chill and usually only kill when it serves his goal.

my friend was asking about JoJo spinoffs and he was like "i wanna check them out" but i had to explain a lot of them are really shitty

so I tried to give him a list

These are the JoJo spinoffs that aren't garbage in order of "importance"

  • Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (Araki. Fleshes out supernatural phenomena beyond stands and vampires. Has a partial animated adaptation and a complete live action adaptation with some liberties.)
  • Dead Man's Questions (Araki. 3-part epilogue to part 4. Incredibly important. Shockingly doesn't have an adaptation.)
  • Purple Haze Feedback (Kohei Kadono. Light novel epilogue to part 5. Phases in and out of fan discussions sometimes and is featured in several video games. Among spinoffs, it's probably the fan-favourite, and for good reason.)
  • Eyes of Heaven (video game with a parts 1-8 crossover story that Araki was involved with)
  • Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak (Kohei Kadono. Manga epilogue to part 3 as well as prologue to part 4.)
  • Rohan at the Louvre (Araki. One-shot, it's actually REALLY good. Has a live action adaptation, but we're here for the art.)
  • "The Book": 4th Another Day (Not much to say, like I said before it's just the only other novel besides PHF that's good enough to be considered headcanon. It's a "sequel" that takes place before Jotaro leaves Morioh at the end of part 4.)
    HONORABLE MENTIONS:
  • Whitesnake's Miscalculation (One-shot manga. This one is fucking weird I'm ngl, but it's still better than everything I didn't mention. Takes place during part 6)
  • Over Heaven (Light novel. Meant to be DIO's diary. Theres some really interesting ideas in this one, but it goes a little too far. Fans dislike this one because some people try to use it as a source, which is problematic because you're assuming the author's interpretation of DIO is definitive.)
