Damo uses Hato to literally attempt to kill her family. “On rare occasions, they will fall in love with humans of the opposite sex” that is a direct quote, so characters like Aisho are one of those exceptions, but not the rule.

Jobin’s main motivation for the fruit is a curse and he is a dominant character is the story. I’d say in this story, Josuke’s arc is identity and the Higashikata’s arc are curses and power.
