throughout the raid we slay his Warpriest (who was also a leading member of his court), Golgoroth, and his daughters
ubtil we finally confront him and put him down using raid mechanics
tldr: Oryx was screwed over in just about every possible way
alright, someone ask a weird Destiny lore question
Do you think the Nessus frogs would make a good soup?
they are synthetically created by the Vex, so I wouldn't trust it
Is Deathbringer the physical wieldable manifestation of the perfected Deathsong?
hive knight twitter argument, such a classic
I'd have to double check the exact method and manifestation but it's the result of Eris guiding us to weaponise it, yes.
this might be a weird question, but what is thematically the most "John Guardian" exotic weapon?
or weapon in general i guess
As in the most... "standard" general Guardian weapon?
more specifically, our Guardian. Like what would generic Player Guardian use, yknow?
probably khvostov
Khvostov, probably, yes.
i guess besides that cuz thats the easy answer lol
There's a separate timeline version of us that had Bastion as our favourite weapon
lol definitely an alternate timeline then
accidental double lol, thats how silly that is
but this reminds me, is Bastion the literal favorite weapon Saint refers to at our eulogy, or is it made from the remnants of the sword put on our grave? does that sword have any significance?
We just made it together and we apparently loved it
What is the "Deep", is it a like a reference to a specific place or more like a concept?
I suppose for post age of triumph pre beyond Light guardians, Travelers Chosen?
Isn't that more a Crow weapon?
Yeah...
I spose it's between Khvostov and Travelers chosen depending on what period u looking at
Is there any guns that has a 'for loot hungry goblins who would do anything for a new gun' sort of vibe?
It's essentially just another word for Darkness, as Sky is for Light
probably whisper of the worm or any other god-turned-gun weapon
for the record that sword was just an ornament on the tomb
its meant to represent the taken king swords, but its not actually any of them
the same decorations are just around the hangar
any lore on it or is it just an out of canon thing
It is an in-canon thing because there is rarely anything that is non-canon in Destiny, just mostly misconceptions
But yes Dawning is canon, you get to talk to the nice grandma and everything
She is grammy
thank you
Supposedly did fashion back when she was younger, lost her husband and daughter some time ago, she has been deeply involved with the seasonal events since then - especially Dawning - and also most recently helped Guardians pick out their fashion choices during this past Guardian Games
im sorry the tower holds fashion shows? thats fucking awesome
It’s mostly been community competitions, though we did have an official one recently for features in a fashion booklet
He willingly married himself to all guardians who got the Vow now from Crimson Days, he’s totally willing to wear a dress
I only trust Bionicle guy, so Bionicle can you explain the lore feats and prowess of Oryx?

(I really wish Mael was away so he’d add to the thonking train)

But I’d trust Eris, Dova, Hally Bo, or Mael to give an explanation, imma be busy driving in like the next couple minutes, waiting for some people
Damn...
I can't speak for the aforementioned people being better at this than me, but oryx is generally a very competent darkness user, known for being very good at "taking"
Most stuff that fits the bill for "sword logic" oryx does very well
Ok no longer have to worry about driving off the road
I’m so sorrryy Uke I forgor
But yes, Oryx has been a mainly competent Hive God, maintaining his Tithe structure fulfilling his worm by fulfilling his nature as the Great Navigator, being to discovery what Sav is to Cunning/lies
He and his siblings have eradicated a number of species in their path, some assisted by the Traveler some not so
He also indirectly led to the discovery of Throneworlds via killing his sisters for a boost in Ascendent Energy when facing… I wanna say the Encumne or whatever? That coalition with the Gift Mast, a paracausal weapon the Traveler blessed them with
And most notably he killed Akka, the worm god of secrets, to earn access to an audience with the “Deep” (which was the Witness, I believe the grumpier/lore entry specifically cites “the Voice in the Deep”) and learn the power of Taking

Sucks
AAAAAH
I am just funny little guy who like lore of things
“Funny”
what about me
Is Oryx stronger than Riven?
Eeeeeh
Doesn't he have a sword that can cut through shit
That’s Crota
Which ones stronger
Crota’s his son, and Crota was wholly devoted to the Sword, both the Logic and literal swords, regarding them as the most powerful tool
This was his weakness that we exploit in his Throneworld, as only his Blades are able to damage him
Oryx had earned himself the power to dominate minds and thereby form an individual’s mental and physical shape to be perfect for the role they served, via the power of Taking
This, in tandem with his capabilities as a Hive God in combat, would most likely prove Oryx to be stronger than his son Crota
However there is the caveat in that Oryx was wholly dedicated to the Sword Logic, and so when we entered the Dreadnaught, which was his Throneworld due to him turning said Throneworld inside-out and making it his ship’s interior, Oryx was perfectly willing to allow himself to die to any challenger who proved they could take him down
the answer is just yes
Ahamkara are not particularly tough
the only reason riven was as big a problem as she was is she was taken
Not to mention that in both battles, we had significantly weakened the tithe systems that were supporting both Crota and Oryx, as well as the fact that we had a fireteam with us
Was willing or forced upon her? Idr
being taken means oryx had total control over her, at least while he was alive
Riven had the caveat of tricking him somewhat to retain autonomy after oryx died
but while he was in control she was just like any other
so
there’s really no contest
if oryx didn’t want to take her she’d just be sliced to ribbons
are there any more weapons like thorn?
Weapons of Sorrow? Yes, there's a handful.
Hand Cannons are a class of primary Weapons featured in the Destiny series. They reward calm technique and sharp shooting. In addition, their abnormally high impact provides them unparalleled stopping power, making them capable of staggering or killing most low-level enemies in two shots.
Assuming you don't mean hand cannon, then yes there are, but the list is a bit up to interpretation.
Potential Weapons of Sorrow, from most to least likely, in my OPINION:
Thorn (100% a WoS)
Osteo Striga
Necrochasm
Touch of Malice
Deathbringer
Wicked Implement
Bad Juju
Ex Diris
Whisper of the Worm
Malfeasance (100% NOT a WoS)
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Parasite
That's it, no other mentions are honorable
I mean like made and corrupted by the dredgens
Specifically the dredgens?
Or guardians
If you count Drifter as still being Dredgen Hope, then Malfeasance.
The Thorn we own is canonically a copy of the OG.
We know this because we purified the OG and turned it into Lumina.
Thorn wasn’t even corrupted by Dredgen yor
it was the other way around
specifically, the only confirmation we have on weapons of sorrow is that hive were responsible for the only established cases
and they were all previously guardian armaments
so I’m not really willing to count osteo or ToM
deathbringer really isn’t related either
Xol turned himself into a sniper, funniest shit I've ever seen
Riven turned herself into a fusion, funniest shit I've ever seen
Eris turned oryx into a scout rifle, funniest shit I've ever seen
Shaxx turned oryx's sword into another sword, funniest shit I've ever seen
We turned bug-omar into a machine gun, funniest shit I've ever seen
Whisper, maybe? If you squint a lot?
Which sniper
It’s literally just Xol transmuting himself into what looks like a gun we used to have
Whisper
Oh whisper
It's literally xol
Black Talon is what it’s based on
so Xol participates in plagiarism
he will be sued
wait no
Black hammer
Let’s make a class action against xol
Black talon is the mid exotic sword
Where the exotic trait is literally "this is a caster frame"
it looks cool at least
Does it though
Falling guillotine is literally the rectangle tool in ms paint
Anyway, lore
Thorn and Malfeasance are the only two guns I can think of that weren't evil to begin with, but were made that way by guardians.
MAYBE parasite????? If you stretch it way farther than you should
thorn wasn’t made evil by a guardian
Rezzyl just put some cool bones on his gun
the wife of what used to be not bones just got upset and cursed him for it
Unintentionally made evil
You know what I mean by that though
no because that’s the distinction
Weapons of sorrow are made by hive
they’re made by specific weaponsmiths using old guardian armaments
Parasite definitely doesn’t count
it’s a weaponized life support system made by Mara
There is no definition for this anywhere
the only sources for weapons of sorrow are the old last word exotic mission where you see the process happening, and the grimoire for necrochasm
nothing else is called a weapon of sorrow
The only definitive thing we know is that necrotic grips give an aerial effectiveness bonus to Thorn, Osteo, Touch, and Necrochasm.
bungie blog posts don’t count because they’re not written by lore people and call the exotic thorn one of them which it is explicitly not
but what we have is an established pattern
Just a couple of lists written by different people with varying levels of reliability
assuming anything beyond that is conjecture
Assuming that 2-3 weapons make up a definitive pattern is also conjecture, imo.
is three things in a row not a pattern
thorn and necrochasm are confirmed and both old guardian weapons
last word was confirmed to be in the process of becoming a wos
I mean I'd like a few more, especially since there's A LOT more than 3 potential points to be plotted
there is also that specific quote from the books of sorrow
Even just a dev saying "no, deathbringer is/isn't a weapon of sorrow" would give us so much info
Which one, the original ones or the fanfiction written by a delusional hallucinating human millions of years after
"Victory is not in the unmaking of an enemy, but in the re-making of an enemy into your blade." —9th Understanding, 7th Revision of Sorrow
The 7th book of sorrow is literally just Stuff Some Dude Made Up
why is that capitalized
Like a book title
You capitalize everything except of, the, a, an, and, and but.
Unless it's the first or last word, then you capitalize it anyway
Aaaanyway
The 7th BoS is like if some random dude in the year of our lord twenty twenty-four wrote a new book of the bible.
so who wrote them
Some random dude with no ties to the creators of the originals whatsoever
Probably a dredgen, maybe Yor, forget their exact name, but I know for a fact they ain't hive and they're trying to pass off their personal interpretations and beliefs as being on the same level as the source material.
neat
Literally just
“Source?”
“I made it up”
Me or the 7th book
Book
True
what is the adu even doing for us
Surviving
Don’t question it
huh
oh that thing
uh, it’s being funny
probably some cabal tech that lets us enter the pyramids
because they’re apparently just goated at developing anti paracausal tech
I mean how else do you level a playing field full of magic users? Make wards against magic, take their power
is Sloane taken?
why are there moths in the golg maze
Not fully
Ahsa helped her keep her mind and prevent her from being fully Taken
Raid reprisals aren't actually canon, especially Pantheon. At most they're meditations, a method Ikora teaches us to go over past events and mentally attempt a different thing.
So in other words
No particular reason
Unless you didn't mean boom Moths and just regular ones, in which case they're all over Hive locations and they're just a consistent theme
It's omnicidal and has murdered billions
It's trying to end the universe
mood
They wanted to use the Traveler’s power to rewrite reality as they saw fit, because they thought they knew better for all others
And their species were already interstellar at that point
ohh
so their egomaniacs
And they also murdered off members of their own species who disagreed with them
pillar men?
Like
It wants to kill the Traveler, not because it left them, but because they don't like that they can't control it
How did Mars come back
is it like the travelers bestie
Darkness Traveler
Witness shenanigans?
Savathûn, somehow.
Oh
It's the counterpart to the Traveler, Darkness manifest.
The people of the Witness tried to combine them, the Traveler fled.
is that what prismatic is
Uh, sort of. More to the point, it would have allowed the people of the Witness to control - or end - the universe. As it is doing now.
Prismatic is more of us using powers of both Light and Dark together
hmmm
I wonder if Prismatic is in the same ballpark though
It has a slight atmosphere.
oh
Good old Traveler tinkered with its gravity.
why is only some fallen and some cabal our friends
Because they're not all part of the same factions.
oh like tabs
What?
its a game
why dont we ever fight with fallen
ive only seen cabal on our side in battle
Well, there was the entire Season of Plunder.
And Forsaken's campaign
we actually had our own pirate crew of Eliksni
i didnt play in either of them :(
there was a vandal sniper, three wretches, and a servitor
why arent we friends with the other races
in Forsaken, Spider's associates and servitors would show up at certain points to help us
vex hive scorn
Hive and Vex have no capacity for it
Scorn are zombies controlled by a greater will, Witness or Fikrul. Both hate us.
why not
like the way they are actively makes it highly unlikely
zombies of what
what were they originally
Fallen. Haven't you ever seen the arms?
think of it like this, Hive and Vex are not Human
no
also why do the fallen in the tower have two arms
their morals/values are so different from us that they are outright incompatible for friendship
docking
cutting off two of thheir arms is a punishment
Some Fallen were docked by their Houses and those arms haven't grown back yet.
I see you haven't looked at the Dregs you fight either
though Light actively condemns this practice
nope
so any two armed ELiksni in the Tower were docked at some point prior to joining House light
Yes, essentially.
House refers to a sub-faction in Eliksni society
House of Light specifically are the ones who ally themselves with us
not exactly
well at this point mostly
other than the Lucent Brood
and House Dusk
and Red Legion remnants
and any Vex not in Sol Divisive
and Fikrul's Scorn
who is fikrul
The original Scorn.
the Fanatic
Unscorn scorn that’s now scorn
oh
why was osiris exhiled
For completely abandoning his duties as Vanguard and allowing a cult to form and begin riots in his name as he posted doomsday tales of the Vex
he was an AI made by Humanity to protect them
or more accurately, he was an AI made into an AI meant to keep humanity protected
The Warmind
Rasputin had access to many satellites and weapons
what is the vault thing in nessus
Oh uhhhhh
no
because that;s on Venus
The giant cylinder in the fishing spot place?
Or the glass reflection room used once in the red war on Nessus
Or the fallen strike room
What’s a vault
it was used in Dawn
Oh that’s probably it
Nuh uh, if I didn’t play it then it never existed
how was cayde the hunter vanguard if he was so weak
The Vanguard aren't meant to be the strongest
then whos the strongest hunter
also I wouldn't call Cayde weak
in the lore
so far the best contender I can think of is Ana Bray
Probably Shin or Ana but people aren't really ranked like that
yeah, that must be taken into account too
Guardians lose their light if their ghost dies correct
Is shin just accepted as an exception to that or does he suggest maybe it works differently than that
an exception from the looks of it
could be more to it
not really certain, I don't think they touched on that
though I doubt a Ghost can be able to heal/rez you from that far away
though if your body gets destroyed, then they can bring you back wherever
It's why we captured Savathûn's body and sequestered it from Immaru, who was still roaming free
But yes, the disintegration rez isn't entirely clear
Lore thing
One moment

My Guardian is immortal. My Guardian is forever lost to me. He boarded the derelict Almighty with his fireteam, hoping to salvage Cabal secrets from the star murderer.
I should have seen the trap. Was it Cabal? Was it some Vex infection from Mercury? I don't know. It's all my fault. I remember how the moment of activation felt like falling. He...
Ty ty
ghost resurrection is a largely vibe based system
Are you really a Hally and a Bo?
so when a guardian dies, do the moments between death and resurrection feel instantaneous or is there some sort of purgatory, or is it a period of darkness for however long?
Think it’s like sleeping
Referencing the halo referencing from d1 taken king, they needed a rest after their own war
you saying sleeping reminded me of the Savathun cutscene from Witch, where she almost acts like she's literally waking up from being asleep after being rezzed by Immaru after so long
I know about the Thanatonauts, the Warlocks who intentionally died and rezzed over and over again to try and get a glimpse of the afterlife or the purgatory or whatever
The Thanatonauts are so weird but cool
wasnt Osiris one of them?
I always headcanon’d my Warlock briefly being one
And uhhhhh
Not sure
Lemme see if I can find anything on it
TO ISHTAR
Doesn’t seem like it
The only related to this is one time Osiris seeking help from a number of Warlocks, one of them a Thanatonut
Chat, who is Zaouli
i guess i'm wondering because one of the possibilities with Cayde's return is that the pale heart is the Guardian afterlife
it's not the Cayde theory i personally subscribe to, but it's still worth looking into
And then it got worse, dabbling in thanatonautics,
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/osiris
What drives a Warlock to madness?
Ghosts choose those suited to war and heroism to be reborn. By nature or circumstance they go to battle against the Darkness, and through this battle they learn how to use the Light. But Warlocks, by their nature, fight a second, internal war. This is the war to understand a universe of secrets— a world that exp...
Thank you Mailman
We don't truly know. The weapons are all from the victims of the Hive and/or Black Fleet.
i assume this means that thanatonautics is seen as a very weird fringe type research, which makes sense
yeah, a bit lol
Hey don’t knock it til you try it

Depends on the Guardian
Some can see through their Ghost, for example
Some are just regular old dead
interesting
How could I say no to those three eyes
Help
Help I can't say no
I think I'm hypnotised I can't say no help me
Yes of course

Can I just not see it because of the perpetual blizzard there?
Lore wise - couldn’t guardians already use all the elements before prismatic
Like Osiris chaining supers
What’s the lore behind prismatic then?
Prismatic is different as it is two different paracausal forces, Light and Darkness, being used in tandem at the same time
(Beyond that we won’t know more until TFS)
Tho from what the devs say, it seems like we are getting this power from the Traveler (and I suspect it’s a possibility because of the Witness reintroducing Darkness to the Traveler)
(Being that evidence points to the Light and Dark having once been a singular force, instead of the two separate ones we know)
PvE mayhem with quick loadout swaps
Gotta keep in mind the elements and stuff work rather different in lore compared to ingame
Ingame youre always limited by both class and subclass
In lore in theory anyone can do anything
A Titan could learn to use a golden gun if they so wanted to
Its not common but possible for sure
that and mixing and matching elements is completely different from mixing and matching light and darkness at the same time
Correct
if by not common you mean it's never happened
Yeah cause Titans know theyd break the universe by how cool theyd get if they had a goldie
But you know what I mean
Theres nothing stopping a guardian from learning a different classes ways
Classes are a social construct in the lore
Imteresting
do we have any idea what the new portal in whisper is
Nope!
we dont really knew much about the original one either, just that it looked like the vault of glass
it was literally the vault of glass
you know the catalyst area?
there's a portal around there looking back through
It just kinda existed
There wasn't really much to know except that it was a cool reference
Are there any cases of Lightbearers that are parents other than Jaren Ward (kinda) and Zavala?
Nothing actually states this.
And, no.
Only thing pointing to Lightbearers being unable to reproduce is Zavala’s case and Saladin’s ghost talking about how he can’t have kids, though it’s not specified if this is a him problem specifically or if it’s a common issue across all guardians
And there’s little doubt they’d be hesitant to approach the subject
Can any class use another classe’s super or abilities?
A Lightbearer can hypothetically learn to use other forms of Light - such as the Blink, or our shared Grenades - but learning Light is a slow and difficult task for most Guardians, and switching up your form of learning and manifesting Light would likely be very difficult.
We've never seen a Guardian use other classes Light to the degree of Supers.
I think it's due to a cross between the state of mind between classes, as they use their Light differently and naturally fall into these classes generally speaking, and because the Ways of Light are already well established forms.
Teleporting is absolutely a ninja and a wizard thing
That could probably just be it, no
In other words
Potentially, on paper
"We learned how to blink from Warlocks. But please don't admit that." - from Aphorisms To Anger Warlocks, a Hunter handbook
Lmao
Based
But it fits the "characteristics" of a hunter to teleport I suppose, as opposed to a titan
Yeah that's what I was getting at by state of mine between classes
Like it's a natural way to form your Light and reaching for something else may not... come easily or naturally.
There is also the case that it is surprisingly rare for a guardian to master more than one subclass if at all
To be able to swap between subclasses on the fly and to mix and match abilities from different classes as well, it would require at least some but of greater proficiency in the Light
(Citing you again for this, Mael thaaanksss) #📚lore-discussion message
probably
We've never really been to those sort of areas so we kinda really just dont know
i await the the africa or amazon rainforest expansion
we must see monke in our future
Slightly related fun fact, as whilst countries have persisted through the Golden Age, it's also important that the existence of the North American Empire implies that to a small extent the nations have shifted around into the distant future of Destiny's world
So I missed last season, but just to be sure, Eris became the most powerful hive and then just… banished xivu arath? With hive ability?
she commandeered Xivu’s authority to close her off from her own throne world
Eris spent all the hive power she had to do so, but it was worth it
She gave xivu a eviction notice
I am wondering if it’s because they don’t live long enough to carry a child to term on top of the responsibilities they have to the tower rather than being infertile
And the odds of the kid dying before the parent are rather high
Which is another reason why it's not really something Bungie might want to approach seeing how distasteful it might be having that topic present in a space magic sci-fi looter shooter
Ikora is a hacker confirmed

I know I'm late to this but my favorite example is Felwinter using a flying knee strike that he learned from Lady Jolder

the pyramids took them at the end of season of arrivals, idk about return tho
The Witness Took them to study them/keep things from us/as a display of force
Apparently Savathûn somehow returned Mars
As for Titan, we don’t actually know how or why it returned
Who is Seychelles and why is his son mad
Damn these old sparrows have so many names of people
Who are the Hidden? I heard their name thrown around a lot in the Witch Queen.
Guardian spy network, basically
Aye
Run by Ikora
They gather intel on enemies and even keep an eye on internal affairs with Guardians
One of the members of the Hidden, Aunor Mahal, even investigated our potential involvement in the death of Cayde-6
It was definitely Uldren and not me in an Uldren Festival of the Lost Mask
It was studying them and their past to discover the location of the Veil
Hence the time rifts on Mars
Lmfoaoooo
Beautiful
surprised there was never any pre-hunt crow fotl lore
So I just got back in this game and I am lost on the lore
Do you have any specific questions? How long have you been out?
About 1 and a half years
And I am completely lost lol
Well, what's the last thing you remember in the story?
After light fall
I did the main story and I stopped playing
Well, the Seasons are all currently free. You can play them in order and get up to date on the story naturally.

What’s the vex’s business being in the solar system I completely forgot. Like the fallen showed up cause they used to have the traveller which makes sense
Vex just wanna convert this universe into their own (see mercury for reference)
Basically evil robot faction
Same as Vex business everywhere else. Make all things machinoformed. Make all things simulated. Make all things Vex.
Sol is only special to them because of how difficult we are to deal with.
Idk why but that reminds me, am I the only one who thinks its weird that in the game series where we visit our solar systems moons on the regular, we continue to just refer to our moon as just
“The moon”
That's why I use Luna.

No
I have a question about forsaken why did Petra want to kill uldrein so bad?
for starters, Petra and Uldren had history
they were good friends
then Oryx pulled up and Mara Sov stood in his way
as a result, Mara was killed and Uldren was presumed dead
however, Uldren survived and his ship crash landed on Mars
he would then be met with the House of Kings where their kell, Craask, would ask him to help him convince the rest of the Fallen to unify into a single house (which would be later known as Dusk)
also worth noting that Uldren was corrupted by Taken energy at this point which allowed the now Taken Riven to manipulate him
by pretending to be Mara
during this time, Uldren had the Hosue of Kings raid the Awoken killing many of his own people
Uldren threw a surprise party
then Uldren found a dying Fikrul (who was struck by Cayde's Golden Gun and left to die)
Uldren would end up making a wish to Riven unknowingly which resulted in Fikrul becoming the first Scorn out of Ahamkara magic mixing the Darkness afflicting Uldren with Fikrul's Ether
at this point Uldren has fallen into madness
he views his own people as expendable
and believes that Petra is a lost cause because she is working with Guardians and Spider
he also tears down the House of Kings with Fikrul
eventually, he surrenders and lets himself and Fikrul be captured
Petra at this point already wants him dead for what he's done, but instead she wanted Variks to try and cure him
then Variks snapped and abandoned the Prison of Elders causing the prison break at the start of Forsaken
which ended in him killing Cayde-6 who was one of the few Guardians Petra liked
@weak prawn
that's pretty much the gist of it
Uldren went mad and caused the deaths of many of his former subjects
and the death of one of her best friends
I had a question but I forgot
But doesn't Forsaken not have a campaign?
that's the funny part, it did
in fact, it used to have another Destination as well
the Tangled Shore
but then Bungie vaulted the Tangled Shore and Forsaken campaign when Witch Queen launched
Does it still have a campaign? I know there's a campaign mission in the Dreaming City map
the Dreaming City intro mission and the weekly rotating story missions were Forsaken post-campaign
and the timeline mission is just a very condensed version of the original intro mission for the campaign
Is there a connection between the “symmetry” scout rifle and the “duality” shotgun?
I noticed that both have a very similar ornament, and similar exotic traits, with alternate firing modes
I don't think so
if you really wanted to push it, you could argue that the lore tab to Symmetry can relate to Crow, who used Duality
Ok. Thanks!
Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I saw the term walk the line in the symmetry lore tab, looked at my quest and saw the duality catalyst was called “walk the line”, and then how similar the guns’ mechanics were thought I was Einstein for a second
that's just a similarity in their naming conventions
Symmetry and duality
There is a tangential relation. Symmetry references Ulan Tan, who long touted the balance necessary between Light and Dark, even once this branded him as a heretic to be exiled.
I like to think Ulan Tan would shove it in everyone’s face nowadays
Actually, do we know if he’s alive or dead?
😔
That's the thing, isn't it? No one wants to listen. They only pay attention once you're dead.
Ulan-Tan was the greatest mind of his time, and so, of course, he was wholly overlooked. You did not even give him the crown of a heretic—not until he was already gone.```
you might like the whole entry too
"In the darkness, light shines more brightly, and where light shines, it casts a shadow." —Ulan-Tan

That's the thing, isn't it? No one wants to listen. They only pay attention once you're dead.
Ulan-Tan was the greatest mind of his time, and so, of course, he was wholly overlooked. You did not even give him the crown of a heretic—not ...
Me
man, he was speaking straight facts back then
"You do not hate me. You hate the idea that I might be right." —Ulan-Tan
Even back then I always leaned to his point of view, and now knowing we was basically right the whole time
"One day you will realize… Light alone is not enough." —Ulan-Tan
Preach king
he also has a burial ring
a replica of it was an artifact in D1
man D1 artifacts had really good lore potential
Crow and Amanda?? Are they a thing?!
Amanda liked Crow. Crow liked Amanda. But once Amanda found out Crow used to be Uldren Sov, she couldn't come to terms with it, and pushed him away.
And, uh, then... y'know. Then she exploded.
i liked the last part the most
I’m sorry, WHAT?
Kyra did you miss the giant story part of Season of Defiance
It was during my 2 year hiatus
There has been a memorial in the Hanger
Amanda Holiday died a year ago.
WHAAATTT how?! But I just saw her?? It all happened so fast
...maybe you should play Season of Defiance
But.. how explode?
Season of Defiance
You can go play it, it's free right now
I’m doing the battlegrounds thing, does that count?
Uh, not really, no. The actual story missions.
But I- I don’t really want to
Why not?
Avoiding burn out! I feel it rising
Well, that's fair, but the Seasons are removed when Final Shape launches.
Story included.
How do I go back and play it?
All seasons are free. Start them from the nodes in the HELM map, with the exception of Wish, started in the Dreaming City.
Thank you!
I have got a small question, what happened to the old guardian's body after they died?
Ghost seems to be able to generate a whole new body for its guardian.
But what about the old body? Will they gone or still there?
Generally speaking, if the body is available, the body itself must be resurrected. The exception only happens when the body is disintegrated (or irretrievable under vaguely defined circumstances). Due to this, an old Lightbearer technique involves sequestering the corpse of a defeated Lightbearer so that their Ghost may not revive them, often until a deal is struck.
The Iron Lords did this, Praxic do it as an imprisonment method, and the Hidden did it to Savathûn.
ohh, thank you
Couldn't the ghost like transmat the body out of wherever it's kept and then revive it ?
Not without a transmat beacon! Plus, there are transmat blockers.
it needs a connection between the subject, the actual transmat thing, and your location
Dreadnaught moment
It's still in the game?
How do I start it?
you know that holo projector on neomuna that’s literally never used
that’s the only reason it exists
to start defiance
Isn’t there a holo projector on the Enclave that’s never seen use at all?
The one where eris and Zavala argue?
Is there one there too?
I was thinking of one by the Evidence Board
I think there’s one there anyway
Mmmmaybe
Eris was a hunter right
Im sure theres gotta be a meaning to this little schematic right? Its from tfs collectors edition. Does anyone know?
Is it like the witness' symbol or something like it?
looks like a map or one of those logic chart things
i thought it kinda looked like those disruptor things that disabled your abilities in lightfall campaign
‼️ I found a straight person in dentistry lore ‼️
Memes aside, is Orin fr a Titan? She was rezzed in the dark age so class is more fluid for her anyway. Reading Ecdysis and she was part of the Pilgrim Guard, but her personality, history, and inexplicable restlessness scream Hunter to me.
being rezzed dark age doesn’t matter
if you’re active long into the city age, you’d be following the class structure
she was a Titan
she used hammer of sol
personality does not determine class
Ooh she had a sick mohawk?
I didn’t know we got a look at her before the Nine stuff
Why was Orin chosen as emissary? Her encounter with Xur was the catalyst but before that, there were weird things. Was that Nine stuff?
The thing about hearing voices before she met Xur though
The short answer is I don’t know
the long answer is please hold, a company representative will be with you shortly
Orin was sent by Mara to look into the Nine
She had served Mara before she died on Earth and then got rezzed, but then when she was going around the Reef, Mara had her captured and asked wtf she was doing all this time, but then Orin revealed she didn't know shit because she did not retain any knowledge from pre rez
She said aight I'll go check the Nine, met Xur, broke his back because he was sus, he tried to give her the urn with her mom's ashes, they all spilled in the kerfuffle, and then she got hijacked by the Nine as their Emissary
Mostly because they fucked up with Xur and whilst he can speak on their behalf he's also just kinda built wrong because they don't know how to build a human or a living creature
But I mean a virtually immortal Lightbearer? That's perfect we'll take one make her the mouth through which we speak
she investigated them because Mara Sov had reason to assume they were involved in Sjur Eido's death
She was also part of the Pilgrim Guard
I know that
nooo
SHES WEARING THE D1 ARMOR, GIVE IT TO ME
who was the speaker?
when it was awake, the traveler would routinely send messages to a select few and offer some insight
these people would then relay messages to everyone else, so they were called Speakers
our Speaker was unique in that he was the first and only one born after the collapse, making him the last one
during his life the traveler was still “dead” so it wasn’t directly sending him anything, he only got loose and vague thoughts from it
he struggled with that and having the whole city looking to him for guidance, so he took “liberties” in what he relayed to everyone
the whole “devotion, bravery, sacrifice” speech was something he made up
he also had a kind of zealous way of leading
Ghaul captured him during the red war in hopes he had some sway over the traveler in order to help him conquer the light
it was never going to happen, but the speaker led him on in order to distract him for the remainder of the war before he was eventually killed
the speaker also used that funky mask of his to amplify the traveler’s voice
so, he wasn’t exactly a fraud, but he was never telling the whole truth
something something owl house
Did Mara have a partner
Yep. Sjur Eido
How did she die
It isn't entirely clear, but it seems to have been caused by the Nine. And it doesn't seem to have been an intentional murder.
Do the Nine have a leader?
Fell.
l o s t```
```"This was on her body, Your Grace."
A strange coin lay at the center of Abra's outstretched palm. Mara took it between thumb and forefinger and held up it to the cosmos with dainty contempt.
Weregild, she thought. Powerful grief filled her chest, as thick and caustic and heavy as unset concrete.
"And her bow?"
"Gone."```
```The search sends her deep into a sublunar cavern where she finds no enemies, but instead clouds of steam and a half-man with grasping tentacles where his face should be.
"Forgive them," he rasps as she crushes his windpipe in her fist.```
Not that we know of, but they are divided into two "factions".
She who was once Orin, a Guardian. Her tale is told in Ecdysis.

Space dust
I recommend reading Dust for that. But if you really want just the foot notes, read The Nine from the same book.

At first this is all the loop of dust can calculate. It is the hardest thing in the universe for the dust to make a loop at all, because, like a gust of wind or a river, it was only meant to move one way. For a mind to function, the end of one thought must alter the beginning of the ne...

Any of y'all know about the bray science hand logo?
https://i.ibb.co/kyKqLMR/Exo-Body-2.png
Would you be referring to this?
This
Because it also appears in Neomuna
I don't know if it's intentional or not but it peaks my interest between a possible connection between Clovis Bray and Neomuna
CB tech appears here and there all over the place. Some of Titan tech is CBs, and there's even shared architecture between them.
However, it's also possible that this is simply a general use symbol portraying something we're unaware of, not connected to either in particular.
CB tech is inherent to Neomuna at the core. It was constructed with SIVA nanites, which were in the Exodus Indigo cargo hold.
Plus, the symbol or other CB originated information or technology may well have been part of the Indigo memory banks or systems.
Just found a very similar logo to bray tech on the same map
All of that said, however, I don't expect more than a surface level connection to Braytech. Clovis was unaware of Neomuna, and it wasn't a sanctioned or known colony. Indeed, it was helmed largely by the crew of the Ishtar Collective.
So they're similar to the awoken to where it's an offshoot of humanity?
In a manner of speaking, though they're still entirely human, Cloudstrider augmentations aside.
The Exodus Indigo landed on Neptune during the Collapse, hidden by manipulated Vex signals and the natural storms of Neptune itself.
They began to use SIVA to create Neomuna, and the Vex themselves ended up bubbling the city for their own purposes, which had the side effect of rendering it further hidden - but even more cut off.
Where'd I lose you
You haven't
I just need sleep
But i want to read up on some lore now
Thanks for the insight 👍🏻

Need some advice on a custom fallen house Banner. Called "House of Hunt". Wanted to get the perspective of other who know the lore to see if this would fit within the world
well, if they were in Sol, they would have had to be both well-off and well-hidden
because if they weren't well-off, then they would have joined with House Dusk out of desperation
Or Salvation, later on.
and if they weren't well-hidden, then they would have been a target
alternatively, they could be a recent-made house
like Light or Salvation
Well, the banner uses a lot of circle designs. Generally speaking, the Banners use quite harsh, straight angles, with the occasional circle mixed in.
unless you're Taniks
Ignore the second one. That's technically Hive.
Here we've got Rain/Dusk, Exiles/Crota's Brood, Kings, Devils, Judgement, I think Winter and then Wolves.
House of dusk is so fuckin lame that even their emblem sucks
Wolves has the bests logo
funny thing is that lore-wise Dusk actually stole their banners from an exinct house
They stole the colours and symbol of House Rain yeah
House of Rain, who made the Kell of Kells prophecy in the first place
Damn they didn’t even make their own that makes it worse
Anyway, a lot of these designs use straight lines with angles, plus a circle or four. None are majority curved lined.
God I hate house of dusk
but yeah, the banner you got here looks a lot more like somethign the Cabal would use
hmmm
Yeah im still developing the story. its a relativly new faction formed around the worm god expansion.
Heres a quick summary of the wip story. Feel free to suggest stuff to help it fit more the destiny universe
What im trying to potray for this house is that its relativly new. A deserter guardian by thye name of raxus deserted the vanguard. heard stories of the dark ages. Has a huge ego and thinks hes on par with the warlords (very much isnt.) gathers a few other guardians to join his cause to bring down the vanguard in an attempt to bring on another dark age. Joins forces with a unnamed small house and helps it grow into a more powerful faction called "The House of Hunt"
Hunt because their main focus is hunting guardians
thats the quick summary
It's plausible, sure. Sounds a bit like the old pirates.
ur an old pirate
lol
Im trying to make a short cinematic out of this. Already got the Fallen leader and Raxus modeled
the Old Crews
🏴☠️
though the Old Crews were never collabing with Guardians
True. The New Crews!
plus the Old Crews are... old
Lightbearers working alongside Eliksni is known, of course. Trihn, Crow, others. So a more... vindictive Lightbearer working with the still angry Eliksni? Yeah. A bit ironic, but it works.
maybe do a twisted version of the House Light sigil
That could be interesting
The reason I did so many circles was trying to do a crosshair
Im trying to find something that fits with Hunt
maybe you can base it off of aiming down the sight of Queenbreaker's Bow
Interesting
that way you can have a circular design that looks more Fallen than Cabal
True
The goal with this project is to make it lore accurate enough to have been plausable
Heres the leader btw. A lot of mix and matched parts from bosses, and the helmet is like 3 helmets fused and retextured
oooo
He needs a name 😛
Perfect
You could make one with drop off lines.
Circle, three horizontal lines beneath, and a line in each other cardinal direction from the circle.
Practical, and sticks to the harsher line angles
any examples?
Not while I'm on my mobile no
But I can grab one after work in, uh... two hours?
il prob be asleep but if you could send it via dm I would much apreciate that
@trim grotto @dim minnow thoughts on v2?
A nice improvement, the diagonal shapes do feel Ikelos/SIVA derived, which you could play off of if that’s something you’d like to implement
Also kinda looks like those Vex Network nodes, the button looking ones
Centre reminds me a bit of a servitor
An improvement to be sure, though the mild asymmetry is a bit off the beaten path
did a bit of changes
Siksilos?
Siksilis?
maybe...
Lore topic for the early (2am) day
Any tidbits on the anatomy or rituals of the hive
Twist is, you can only use d1 sources
Reminds me a bit of vex too
As well as fallen
It has fallen with how it goes out to the sides and stuff, but simple and defined shapes reminds me of vex
Thank you 🙂
there’s lots of death
and torture
ogres are born out of a series of painful experiments
also, artichokes
As far as I can tell, this is why Drifter is seen as a threat as of season of the drifter
-Summoning Primevals. Even in a contained environment, this is dangerous
-Nobody knows what he’s doing with the motes
-Ran with the Dredgens (not public knowledge, I think)
-Accomplished liar
-City-aligned so the Praxic Order can’t just kill him
-Introduces dangerous ideas about not trusting the Light and riding the line between Light and Darkness
-Encourages Guardians to use the Darkness to kill each other
-Draws Guardian resources away from more pressing concerns
However, Aunor says he’s the greatest threat to humanity. Is she being too extreme?
incredibly, yes
Aunor is heavily overreacting
Drifter isn’t really a threat to anyone
he was at his “worst” in forsaken
Aunor just didn’t trust him so took the investigation into her own hands
just because gambit was barely on its footing at that point and had kinks to work out
officially, variks is more of a criminal than drifter
She also suspected we might have been involved in Cayde’s death
Yo people I'm looking for group trying to get me the Wicked Implement scout rifle PLEASE PM me if any one else is going after it

Does anyone have a clue as to what game Savathun is playing. I remembered she showed the crow the truth of uldren sov. Which led to him wanting to be the one to cross over to the traveler. I wonder if this was a trick , knowing only one person could cross, being connected to Mara. She knew only we could get access to the inside of the traveler. I wonder if in the final shape we will be racing against her in some fashion. She wanted the traveler in her throne world before, so is she going to try to take the traveler from within. Will we finally kill her, I wonder?
Savathun really isn’t going to be important to FS
she’s on the backburner right now, in-universe and in a meta sense
The power vacuum is going to be unreal when and if the witness is defeated💯
we could just kill immaru and she loses alot of her power
she loses all her power
if we kill Immaru she keels over and become a decrepit fossil
shove her over and she becomes dust
Hey i have like a question about season of the deep. Ahsa is a proto worm god, does that mean she is one of the original worm gods?
No
She is a part of the same race/species as the one that the Worm Gods once belonged to, but they have changed a long time ago to differentiate themselves from the rest of their kin
wdym by original worm gods
they’re all original
none of them are new
I mean the original race
Although Ahsa also notes that for her species, they are enticed the ontological power that the Worm Gods and their kin - the worms - feed off of, to which she resists partaking some of the tithe that we had offered to Eris
Simmmer
the little parasites are essentially an offshoot of their species
they’re not really
normal, biologically speaking
The worm gods themselves also being an off shoot somewhat, twisted and changed
they wouldn’t naturally occur in nature
darkness essentially mutated them
they went from weird fish things to big spiky cylinders
Which is the point I already made
Ohh okay i see. Yea its clear now. Btw how did the hive and the worm gods even come in contact?
Like iirc hive wasnt always connected to the worm gods
That happened later
They’re were imprisoned beneath the methane oceans of Fundament, the Hive’s original home planet
Rhulk, on the Witness’ order, beat them up and talked them into helping gaslight the proto-hive into 1) staging a coup against their king, which would then 2) lead the daughters, the Princesses of the Osmium Court, to them via a worm familiar
From there the Worm Gods made a deal with the soon-to-be Hive Gods, gave the three their morphs, and then had their worms become a part of Hive uuuhhhh tradition? Biology? Whatever, all Hive from this point now have a worm in them
imagine being born and the first thing that happens is getting a sentient parasite the size of your brain forced inside you
then you continue growing and aging, but the only way your body actually develops is through a method of delivering tribute to said parasite so it can imbue you with dark power
but you’re also forced to give up a portion of your tribute to your superior so they can feed their own parasite
and if you don’t feed yours enough it just eats you
But you also get supernaturally stronger with what little tithe you do keep
also they’re voiced by Dee Bradley Baker
Probably the 4th best thing about this expansion
Did the krill change appearance as a result of having a worm infest them
Or was that done by the worm gods
it’s the same thing
they ingested worms and undertook morphs from them
base hive only get basic morphs, whereas the siblings got unique ones
ignore Xivu since hers is just called “Knight” but it’s like the most important form of knight i guess
So when hive are born do they look different than a hive with their worm
basically just look softer and less pointy
still gross bug people with chitin as clothing but yknow
less ugly
So technically there are still krill
no
were they still krill on the left there
hive procreating would just lead to more hive, their bodies are changed on a fundamental level
yes
Misunderstood
it’s not like a metaphorical transformation
their biology is literally changed
and they smell like dirt
Wasn’t sure if that was bc of a worm or their biology
worms changed the biology of all original krill and all generations born from them are just hive
The first pic is without the bug right?
they also all get worms too but that’s just how things work
There was a except from some black armory lore during the collapse that mentioned something smelling like dirt
Was that referring to hive
yeah that was the hive on the moon
Technically even before humans emerged
Damn this is ridiculous how back the lore goes
Eliksni lifespans are ridiculous, somehow Eramis is older than Misraaks and was there when Riis fell
Oh yeyeyye right
Also the current day irl is maybe a handful of millennia behind the current time in the Destiny games
Eramis is from the era of the great whatever they call the traveler iirc
Eliksni are lowkey more like crustaceans than bugs
you know that thing about lobsters technically being immortal
There’s not really a defined era for the Eliksni save for the Long Drift and. Everything else
Oh damn i didn't think of that
They just called the Traveler “The Great Machine”
Yea the Great machine
Wasn’t really an era for when they called it that, that’s just their name for it
But yea i know its a very long time since the traveler was above the eliksni
Idk their planet's name
Riis
Yeaa i called it era just to simplify it in my head
they colonized their whole system and ones surrounding it but Riis was their origin
Righttt riis
they’re the second most successful race we’ve seen in terms of time spent developing under the traveler
the first would be the precursors but they sorta ruined it for themselves
So far whats the race with the least lore?
The witness' race?
yeah
Yeye with the veil i remember
Aphelion i guess
Ohh no i meant by race the ones that are currently in the game as enemies or actual characters
But yea idk anything about aphelion personally
Harbinger? Or the one from the Menagerie
Thats what i was thinking too
mostly just because they don’t have a detailed history because they don’t have a society to begin with
they’re just sort of there doing their own thing
That too yea but idk if harbinger is a race or a position
We will def get vex lore in the future
harbingers are basically sentient weapons the awoken have
The living lightning ball who got enslaved in Calus’ Shadows and then found out Calus went back on their deal and enslaved the rest of their race
We have to
Is that what the arcborn was or is that something else
And that'ssss....?
Arcborn that’s it
I see i see
So arcborn are harbingers
no
Pretty sure it was a K
Distinct species
arkborn is a race of sentient arc energy
Not the same
Calus just found them in space once
