Wdym
her lore is really cool!! she was speculated by one of the hidden to be a fusion between a hive worm and a scorn which is really neat if you think about the implications of it. shes dead tho so uh we cant get any more info about her
she was also basically rhulkâs protector for a lot of wormspawn and other entities
Like
We uh
Live in a City
light and dark, some light bearers have also learn to use the dark, we are pinned againts a legion of darkness. is destiny 2 loosly inspired by starwars?
Canât miss it
I think i have tunnel vision
like have the creators stated they liked starwars or something
You very well might
I don't recall any references to it, no.
I mean, Star Wars isnât exactly a unique concept
But like.. thatâs it? No more?
It's called the Last City for a reason
Idk
Thereâs probably small settlements outside of the city
But nothing major
Fuck im slow
ik, i just mean it would be neat
theres tons of art bungie has made of guardians parading in the last city with lots of kids in it. also, shaxx has an entry/voiceline (dont remember which) about playing dodgeball with some last city kids
Light and Darkness in Destiny are more nuanced than the Light side and Dark side in Star Wars anyway
There are small villages outside of it, yes, but they're few and far between. Otherwise there's the Neomuni and Awoken of the Reef.
Yeahhhhh I missed all of that
Outside those? The Last City.
Throwback to when lightbearers were warlords before the last cityâs creation
Star Wars famously draws inspiration from Dune; not to discount its own merits but to illustrate that Destiny very much has a different take on alight and Darkness just like Star Wars has a different approach to Sci-Fi than Dune
Slay asf cl
Age old debate of who out of the 3 classes is the strongest lore wise
I wish we couldâve see more of the nine
None
Well it doesn't really work like that
We still can
It's not like they're dead

There are noteworthy and powerful Guardians of all classes
Satisfying answer
Iâm aware, however as final shape draws closer it becomes further and further away that we will see more
Thatâs like asking which is the strongest out of Kung Fu, Hapkido, or CQC, when all three are equally effective in the scenarios they are best situated around
where does devrion live? (the guy in EDZ at the church, i dont know if i got his name right)
Why?
And this
Makes sense
Devrim
thank you
I donât imagine there will be very much focus on then through the whole expansion
I disagree. After Final Shape we're seeing things like the 227 and Fikrul. Why not the Nine?
I mean. We could have an episode on the Nine
Devrim. In the City.
I didnât say Final Shape has to focus on them
Future content can though
Which theyâve done; look at Nezarec
So who is xur exactly? Does he have a backstory or
When I say focus I mean like any spotlight on them for even a moment
And the horse too.
Well yes kind of
imagine if we have to fight the god damn space horse after TFS, that would be a twist
devrim GAY (this is a joke i am lgbtq)
That does not change what I said
Well, yeah. I repeat my answrr.
Well. He is gay.

Yes I donât refute your answer
Iâm all ears. I also wanna know about the dates of eternity horse
He is Marcâs man
i wish we got more on him and hawthorneâs relationship as dad and adoptive daughter tbh

mf looks like he ate the challangers
Theyâve revisited neglected content before, which is what the episodes are meant to allow, a focus on certain narrative through lines much in the same vein as the seasons without as much of a time restriction attached
I donât know much about the horse but I know abit about xur
Go on
wheres the starhorse funko pop at I gotta put it next to my xur one
wait hawthorn is his kid? i only knew he had a daughter i didnt know it was her
Adopted kid, yes.
Fist fighting Bungie would be some playersâ dream, though I imagine that wouldnât be productive to the health of the game đ
He got like nanad by Orin which is why he hunches over, he is Jovian
Full on broken spine yeah
He was in a cave on the moon (I think) in the dark
Xur is just random guy who got selected by the Nine to be their messenger
yeah :) it is quite wholesome
relating to the topic of devrim and how hes gay, im ngl d2 has some of the best representation in gaming as of right now
wait the horse resembles bungie?
I see
It is bungi yes
Dares was released on their 30th anniversary
All the guns reference their old games
Is there a lore reason why Bungie gave us everything for free?
Which is why it co-opts Xurâs will for its Dares game show
BxR is Halo, Wastelander is Marathon, so on
honse
...no

This is lore
saint is lowkey my fav, dudes a beast and didnt let savathune sleep when he found out what she did to osiris, get yourself a man like saint
Ignat
Au revoir
Just read dire ahamkara lore
Now I want more, give me as many fourth wall breaks as you can find
Sav
I LOVE SAINT SO MUCH I love how protective he is of osiris it is actually genuinely so wholesome and the cutscene between him and osiris at the end of plunder made me cry
Uhhh
Yes
Canât quite remember
space horse used god powers to unlock our plain
trust me bro my source is i made it the f-ck up
Just the Nine. Starhorse is basically non canon.
Starhorse took down the great firewall and liberated us for a temporary period
Starhorse is probably keeping him alive better than the Nine, they literally made Xur built wrong when they made him their messenger
Honse is here for funny gameshow, and not much else
Now enough about the free period
one thing i thought during that was "does an exos lips feel metalic or rubbery"
like rubber lips or metal lips
Metallic
damn
Metallic 100%
Human sensation is necessary for their minds not to undergo Dissociative Exomind Rejection (DER) and having their subconscious rip their metallic frame just because it isnât flesh and blood like itâs used to
this got me giggling but yeah prob metallic
Sometimes I sit back and remember when everyone thought the black garden was inside the traveler and laugh
We were so silly back then
Could be rubber but also the options presented for customization makes it clear theyâre just metal
DER is one of the most metal things in the lore I cant lie
Have you heard of the rabbit embryo?
(Not quite metal but equally brutal)
Der is scary
yes and I agree that its as brutal but I just think DER is such a cool concept
Does EVERY AHAMKARA EXOTIC REFER TO THE PLAYER???
nimbus is non binary right? any other trans/non binary characters in destiny?
Aye
who is aye
Oryx, technically
Micah-10
Stargazer
oryx is biologically transgender, he used to be named aurash but changed his name to oryx after they left fundament I believe
And others that are hinted too I believe
See the mesa at the black garden, is that infact a geological formation or fauna of some kind because itâs called a mesa but it looks wooden and thereâs also the tree roots that basically go all over the shot and the fact from what we can see itâs in the centre
also the certain number of awoken that were referred to as âotherâ on that one awoken ship
Uh Micah-10 is supposedly trans; we get a log from a Micah from Europa, and sheâs present later in the timeline as a den mother for lost Ghosts, helping them find their chosen Guardian and protecting them from individuals like Cyrell, the Ghost Hunter
micah-10 is the transfeminine exo right? the one we learn about from the penguin toys?
Tree stump
Is oryx not a transsexual
"father, i am now your son, we shall do father son things like terrorize the solar system"
"yes son, then we play catch with the ogres"

Hmmm
Sealed ahamkara grasps gives us two truths and one lie..
Do we know which of those is a lie?
oryx is the son right?
Father
nah crota is oryxâs son
oh
but that is funny lolol
Oryx is the brother of Savathûn and Xivu Arath
Oryx was a daughter but crota is his son
About hive, wtf is eris, and are there any "friendly" hive?
They had such potential
Eris is human, and no
Eris lost her sight in the Hellmouth so she stole an Acolyteâs eyes to replace her own
Transgender not transsexual; all three Hive Gods were once Princesses of the Osmium Court prior to their transformation into the Hive Gods, Aurash took the King Morph and became Auryx, and then he killed Akka to gain audience with the âthe Deepâ (aka the Witness) and learn the power of Taking, retitling himself Oryx, the Taken King
at most we are neutral with savathun butâŠ.. not really
the sword logic prevents most hive from being truly complacent with humanity
imagine fighting hive lightbearers in the crusibal
Yeah, but
The eyes
Tho whole season where she becomes hive?
She learned Hive magics and sought to gain revenge against the Hive and help humanity
Would love that
Did oryx not actually change sex though
A ritual that temporarily transformed her
She gave up/lost that power now
He did, I said that, but transsexual is in reference to sexual preference; transgender is in reference to transitioning gender
No it is not
Transsexual is when you change sexes transgender is when you change gender
Why?? It was so badass
Also does eris still have a ghost? And why does she love that ahamkara chip so much?
I donât think here is the place to go into that but thatâs absolutely not what that means
the ahamkara bone was the bone she wished on to escape the hellmouth after she went to go assassinate crota. its literally the only reason shes alive
Eris lost her Ghost, Brya, in the Hellmouth centuries ago
Hence the names
can awoken grow facial hair?
Yes
..how is she alive.
Fair, but I would like to clarify I was operating under the pretense with homo- and heterosexual as precedent for my understanding
I thought that at first
Apologies Eris and anyone else, my b
She firmed it
like I said, the ahamkara bone. the rest of her fireteam is dead as fuck though lol
Sheâs locked in
Maybe Hive magic or maybe even Lightless Lightbearers donât age
Who knows
hang on, I have something written about erisâs fireteam and how they all died
ill paste it here
She wished to be immortal? Or did the bone make her immortal
Way to get out of the Hellmouth, but it took her eyes in exchange
I think light may actually halt the aging process permanently demonstrated by her
She then took an acolyteâs eyes
I mean, two out of five of her fireteam arenât dead
Shiiiiiin Malphuuuuur
Eris be be taking eyes like itâs Naruto
i find drifter and eris dynamic pretty wholesome, and the comics iv seen people make just warm my heart. someone made artwork of them chilling on a couch watching crucibal
They are pretty sweet together
like the art community of destiny is so goated in my opinion
Yeah their bond has been awesome to see grow over the years
I love the concept art for the different original factions
Oh man have you seen the ghost shell collage in progress?
From her finding him insufferable to them finding common ground in their experiences and mindsets
To each helping the other grow
Also I lowkey fw the House of devils
i love drifter just because he goes "ding" in some intros for gambit, it makes me laugh
I do not envy that artist in the least, though their color circle art meme of the Destiny cast was amazing
"ding, ding, dING"
Would you consider scorn as their own species or would you consider them eliksni
The Two Lies Two Truths is only applicable to that one activity in Savathunâs Throneworld, if I am not mistaken (I could be)
true lol but still
Greta question
anyways I found it
Greta?
I consider them as eliksni personally
this event (the great disaster) is what made Eris Morn form her Crotaâs End fireteam, in an attempt to assassinate him. Eriana-3, Wei Ningâs lover, was on this fireteam to try to get revenge on Crota. the other members were: Titan Vell Tarlow, Hunter Omar Agah, Warlock Toland the Shattered, Hunter Sai Mota, and as mentioned: Hunter Eris Morn, and Praxic Warlock Eriana-3. (Praxic guardians are in charge of keeping artifacts of Darkness out of average Guardian hands to prevent corruption, im pretty sure)
all of these members died in their journey to kill Crota, except for Eris Morn, who was forced to take the eyes of an acolyte and learn about the very hive magic that slaughtered thousands of Guardians in order to survive.
my memory may be a bit foggy on this, but I believe the other guardians died in these ways: Vell Tarlow was pinned down by hordes of thrall while the Darkblade, Alak Hul, killed him, Omar Agah became the bug that turns into Xenophage, Toland actually surrendered himself to the Deathsong of Ir Yut, and his death allowed his soul to transcend to the ascendant plane. Sai Mota was slain 40 something times by Omnigul before Wormrot managed to completely diminish her light and kill her, and finally Eriana-3 reached Crotaâs oversoul throne, but unfortunately fell to Ir Yutâs Deathsong
Whoâs to say Dark Ether hasnât physiologically transformed them? But also itâs undeniable they derive their existence from Eliksni as they are literally reanimated Eliksni corpses
i forgot to add the fact she had the ahamkara bone to wish on as well
Physiologyâ genetics
Fun fact the little orb that he is now is the entirety of his Throneworld
I meeeaaaaan
yeee :)
Genetically they are still most likely eliksni
i love hive lore. crotaâs lore is also soooo metal
But they could be an entirely new subspecies that can claim identity of their own
how he used guardianâs ghosts and forged them into blades to slaughter guardians with, even though his sword is so filled with darkness energy he could kill any guardian with a single swing. bro just did that shit for fun
I would consider them their own house of the eliksni but not a species in their own right
Also i think we should no longer refer to them as the fallen
That term is outdated and not kewl
baby eliksni are adoribal, hands down they must be protected
imagine a daycare in the last city
Little potat
whos the old lady that holds most of the festivities?
Eva Levante
SPACE GRANDMA
Also I lowkey want to learn to write in ulurant
Get snailed nerd
Iâm also curious for what languages develop in the last city like surely a common language would develop between all the remaining humans
yeah i can see her just having a librarie where she reads all the kids in the last city books
Thereâs no way that they all happen to speak English
boom, headcanon, she asked an eliksni to be a translator for the eliksni kids
or cabal kids, idk if there are cabal children too in the last city
The preservation of cultural staples like kimchi, burritos, and ramen as well as the variety of decorative design and language used for directory signs would indicate yes
The cabal did reside on torobatl but I think the destruction of that planet due to the fact they tried fighting a god of war by using overwhelming force rather than battle tactics like morons
We do have a lore story featuring an Eliksni unfortunately learning the wrong way to greet someone during Splicer, ends with their unfortunate murder
The Last City is very multicultural so is probably multilingual too
i found art of baby cabal, might be close enough to what they would look like
I think in the 500 years since the collapse a common language wouldâve developed between the remaining humans
Like a kind of mongrel tongue
That very story also helps reframe opinion on Stasis usage as I believe Aisha uses it to disperse the crowd about to beat up said Eliksni
I want to know the lore on that one eliksni in the hall of champions welding with a baby strapped to its shoulder
It would also either be incredibly complex or incredibly simple
Thereâs nothing about new languages to my knowledge
bring your kid to work day probably
I donât see really why there would be
Have you heard of the Central American deaf kids which developed their own sign language language in like a year if not a few years
Iâd say so considering we see baby Caital get her meat drumstick taken away by fatass Calus in that one cutscene for Lightfall
I lowkey hate calus cl
Heâs meant to be surface level personable but deep inside insidious
Does your uncle also happen to be hedonistic
wut that mean
If it feels good, it is good
maybe idk
A sheer life of endulgment
Positively ~cantankerous~
Whatâd you do
i remember a video on someone seeing which raid bosses were marry, kill, and throw into the infinite forest or something
He was introduced in the Season of Opulence
riven was a marry
I would lowkey marry riven
bard lookin ass
Nuh-uh
Riven can shapeshift
Or id lowkey marry kalli the corrupted
I can lowkey uncorrupt her đŁïžđ„đ„đ„đ„
what do you think dragons do in dnd
why do you think bards go for the dragons
its connected
Fine with me, love can transcend physical barriers (with consent and honesty)
oh i would marry riven if i could too, just making a joke with the bard thing
who do you think i play as in dnd
I would actually like to formerly change my choice from river to kalli
I could uncorrupt her
Highkey some might say
Heck I have a biomechanical person franchise in my name wherein love was made noncanonical, yet they found a way to fit in Matau wanting to nest with Nokama
"i could fix her"
Deadass
Savathûn needs wash first
Shhh you didnât see that
That one artist - I think Iron Peach - ships one of their guardians with Sav
Anyways
It would be prudent to continue lore discussion
Also savathûn is a bit old for me anyways
Speaking of where did Plxgue go
did we find out why savathune became a light bearer?
Right
Because she planned it with Immaru
I know golgototh lowkey stinks
The exotic âEdge ofâ glaives illustrate her plan
is immaru the ghost that chose her?
Ye, nasty bugger, mean bean who calls us Neon Nerds
huh, neat
Force the wee bits that stick out on his shell really far apart
Like instead of crushing him Iâm gonna pull him apart and see what happens
We treated him with a finisher in the very opening cutscene of Witch
Shhhhh
has there been any type of ball or something in the last city, like a dance
If I have to bring him back just to do that to him I will
god imagine shaxx in a suit still wearing his helmet
I estimate well over 10 million balls
Used to be able to activate music boxes around the Tower
Prior to uuhhh Beyond Light launch
The Hangar had one
thats alot of balls
Not even a nick on the amount of balls I have
The sheer amount of volume means they are bigger than Jupiter and their density is similar to that of steel
imagine osiris and saint just busting it down like total gods and ikora is just looking absolutly flabergasted while eris says "how hard are they dancing i can feel the ground shaking"
Does bussing it down not mean twerking
since saint is like a 300 pound metal brick shit house right?
no it means like breakdancing or something
More like just busting some moves on the dance floor, not necessarily twerking
Just groovin
Iâm pretty sure bussing it down is twerking
i mean, that would be funny

I need one named like pepino
Would need to consult Ishtar collective but idk myself offhand
Oh also
@stiff hull if youâre still interested in delving deeper into the lore, I would check out the pins for some sources as well as some of these sites (not Destinypedia):
;lore
D2 Lore Resources

âą PreviouslyOnDestiny - Catch up on the story of Destiny
âą Ishtar Collective - Lore database
âą Destinypedia - Lore database

âą Infograph - Partial timeline at a glance
âą Lore Book Guide - Spreadsheet of all lore books
Ty
Ishtar Collective has all available in-game lore entries and a curated timeline of events in chronological order, Destiny Lore Vault is a YouTube channel that has recordings of most of not all cutscenes and dialogue available in-game
Byf is generally a good place to find a specific topic to get interested in and he summarizes lore, but I will warn he is long winded and has an issue with claiming his own conclusions without making it clear he is solely theorizing
Destinypedia sometimes cited sources for various topics but it is notorious for not being totally reliable nor always having a citation
Most infamously, Eramis had a different name but someone misheard Baroness for âEramisâ and the name stuck
And of course, just ask us anything here in this channel and we should for the most part be able to help out with any lore questions though that will vary across each individual
why does or did shaxx hate the drifter
Does he?
Probably just Destiny content creator yappening
Especially post-Lightfall release after they all slammed the expansion for being middling, all of them got on the lore train despite not all of them originally being as knowledgeable nor invested in the lore
Doesnât help that Byf himself - lore daddy of the community who claimed the title after a while - has that nasty habit of presenting his own speculation as the only possible explanation
Like the âhelmet stayed onâ thing? He was one of the initial perpetuators of the interpretation that Shaxx and Mara had a one night stand when in reality it was the two of them having a moment to mourn Sjur Eido
Took a loretab explicitly clarifying that Mara was in the midst of grieving to clarify that
I know where this is, but what is it in reference of?
Remember the strike where you start by protecting a Warsat from Eliksni in the Cosmodrome?
That strike has you enter a bunker
Yes I know where it is
Go to that bunker door
They arenât asking where it is
They know, as theyâve said
Oh wait Iâm realizing the question, sorry itâs close to eepy time
Uh no I think itâs just because thatâs one of the first strikes you do
Eerriiiis I did ooopsie and apologized I am tummy full from good stew
A lot of these quest hints seem to be stuff that new players wouldnât know at all
References to early D2 and even D1 stuff
Ok
I wasnât sure if âsneak past dangerâ was a reference to an enemy or smth
Honestly there could be something to that but I donât know what
There is that hallway in that immediate room after entering the bunker
I did remember noting that one of the hints about Archie wanting to find a ship was a hint to the original D1 campaign
Off to the left, letâs you pass by the incoming fire and you only have to deal with a couple vandal
Instead of dealing with the walk ways filled with invis reavers
can animals become lightbearers?
ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
gaurdian cow
Only humans, Awoken, Exo and Hive have become Lightbearers
Well, and Cabal counting Ghaul
Special little Gary
so was the osiris in curse of osiris savathune?
Nope
Sav only because Osiris prior to the events of Hunt, the death of Sagira being weblore
He was grieving her death when Sav possessed him
Wait was Sagiraâs death not shown in game?
Nope
Born of Wrath
"Huh." Sagira patches a strand of Light into the jumpship's control deck as they tumble through the black-drop, stars twinkling out beyond reach. "Something's in the static out thereâŠ"
"What is it?" Osiris asks.
"Some kind of subspace transmission. Hang on." Sagira boosts the jumpship's comm receiver. "It's Cabal."
"From?" Osiris a...
it was a taken king strike
so not really
It was nice that we got to go back into the Dark Forest in this week's Archie quest
If only they played something like Be Brave while fighting through it
In D2, never played D1 much
Gah Dova why
I haven't logged in yet
Idk it's just a really common one in the strike playlist so it's likely that new players will run the strike fairly early into their playtime
You monster
Kek
Utter fiend
My best guess is that it references how back in D1 that area had higher level enemies hence the danger
Sorry, didn't know you were avoiding spoilers for it
would it not just be referencing the fact you go past Randalâs cave
Maybe that as well
Well the high level enemies in that area could instakill you if you were too low level
I think they just wanted a cool way to reference the Bunker
Actually Alex brought up a good point, was it a strat to get down to that lower cliff level to wait out the enemies that spawned in the warsat defense part?
I can imagine on higher levels that would be a good way to bottleneck them as well as the ledge over the kill plane also being helpful
No, the strat was to hide in/under the warsat
lol
Because the enemies couldn't hurt you
And you had to stay by the warsat since there was a time limit
At least back then there was
Hilarious
Anyways I go sleep now enjoy tasty looking sandwich rotating gifs
https://rotatingsandwiches.com/
If you go to the website would you not enjoy gifs of rotating delicious sandwiches?
Also totally stole this from the Ishtar server
Also there is that one gif in the embed
chat, archie is a dog turned dog exo right
or was archie shrimply a robot to begin with
Shrimply
That makes sense
Yeah, it's the only way I could maybe see it. As they pointed out previously, Sloane's Light was what was keeping her from being fully Taken.
Dog to begin with (you donât need to end his misery)
What do we know about London other than that it somehow survived the Collapse, Achilles burned it down, and Lakshimi was there to see it?
no that was actually Lakshmi
Not a ton, though it was a decently sized settlement of survivors.
I would not be surprised if bladedancer originated there
How would Maya have been in London post-Collapse when she was on Neomuna then?
lets be honest
whats the point of living if you cant feel, touch, nor eat
der in a nutshell
but Archie is literally a robot
doesnât have any interface to eat food, to my knowledge
Well 1) Archie was just made a robot not actually a dog turned into one , he was built by Rasputin, and 2) Exo technology literally has to account for sensation as when Exos couldnât feel anything as they could in their human body, they ripped themselves apart
Is Toland's VA still alive or just blacklisted by Bungoi? The fact he wasn't part of Witch was a travesty
what happened
I mean if they actually cared about toland theyâd just recast, theyâve had zero issue on that regardless of circumstance
pretty sure he had a different va in D1 anyway
Wha
Have you heard d1 osiris? Holy shit, he sounds so much more, monotone
are you talking about Vance
because Vance has very different performances in both games
what about it
play it
Wha
Ok holdon
IGN guides you through The Shrine of Oryx, one of the Moon story missions in Destiny.

Ghost is different but it should be the same
itâs in the walls
I miss the old sound design
I donât miss the radio sound playing after every single line of dialogue
Archie was a robot to begin with, not a dog
Oh
I buy into the Jez theory that they added the scifi noises in post because the voice acting got torn to shreds by critics in the beta, and they couldn't re-record the entire game in time for the game's full release.
I could see that tbh
Proof:
- the beta voice lines didn't have scifi noises
- the beta voice lines got absolutely railed by critics
- the launch voice lines are the same takes as in the beta, but now with added bleepbloop layered on top.
- every single other piece of sound design on launch was the exact same as in the beta, the only changes were bloopifying the VAs.
Da bloopification..
why the fuck is there a horse
Why not?
but there like, a ancient alien race, wayyy older than us, how do they have something that comes from our world

cause HORSE
Who knows, their god is also a horse
The true Final Shapeâąïž...
fr? on skibidi
uh aint that thing tho like, just a thingiembob xur made JUST for his gameshow?
so then what the fuck is this horse then
if it aint made by xur
what could it be?
Made wrong by the Nine from some random human colonist past the Asteroid Belt (which by the way Jovian just means that, stuff beyond the asteroid belt which divides the solid planets from the gas giants), quite literally dissolving slowly and also his back broken by Orin (which is why he hunches in D2), Xur ain't got nothing of his own
Bungie
nah, it cant be
Opened a dimensional space referencing all their old work?
Brings in enemies and loot from both Destiny and the company's past?
godamnit bungie, why did you have to break the 4th wall
i fucking hate that
fuck dumbass 4th wall breaking bullshit, it ruins my imersion, and makes the lore just silly and busteted
people said the star-horse is the minower or whtvr that thing is called, 1st of all, wasn't that lore tab like, a bunch of canned scrapped lore for the origional light and dark orchestrators?
the winnower isnât scrapped
the lore book itâs from literally prefaces with saying itâs a metaphor
people who take Starhorse seriously were just setting themselves up for disappointment
it was an extra content pack developed just because witch queen was delayed
itâs not specifically breaking the fourth wall, either
ok thank god
i was losing my shit for a fat minute
it just established all the bungie ips are in this collection of multiverses that sometimes overlap
which has just been a thing for years now
Mida multi tool is literally from marathon
the lorebook talks about Shaxx debating whether or not he should ban weapons from separate universes
he decided on no
i mean it still doesnt make any sense tho, if that was the case, wouldn't forces like the starhorse STRAIGHT UP bring master chief into the destiny universe
or etc
no because thatâs not what it cares for
it just wants to be entertained watching our best moments on repeat
well alr, fair fair, but like what if some sort of nine force, idk which one, but a NINE entity does that
and it gets us to do this by rewarding us with things weâve never had
itâs not
it literally just invaded the nine space and kidnapped xur to participate
theyâve never referenced it and for all we know they canât do anything about it
the nine are just a bunch of sentient space dust
theyâre not some omniscient group of watchers
they have zero control over anything important
holy shit fr?
i thought they were
they have their own little pocket dimension and thatâs it
with that wierd giant womman thing in the prophecy dungeon
at best they can like, screw with some electronics
thatâs the emissary
sheâs employed by the nine, like xur
and that was just a vision thing
sheâs just human size
oh
so like if thats the case, what caused variks to do the whole prison of elders breakout, it was said that a Agent of the nine persuaded him to do it, right?
I think youâre confusing Skolasâ escape and the forsaken breakout
Variks just come to the conclusion of abandoning his post for the sake of the Eliksni future
ah shit, well either one
godamnit then, i'm being told a shitload of Missinformation then
way earlier than this, the awoken captured Skolas, the winter Kell, and gifted him over to the nine as some kind of bargaining chip
to which the nine just went and released him behind her back
they just wanted to get close to guardians because they were curious, and the house of wolves resurfacing forced Mara to call them to their aid (hence the dlc)
Mald baby

Iâm inclined to agree tbh, itâs not my cup of tea
Literally the least offensive usage of the 4th wall break in a fictional setting
And in a canonically noncanonical setting
thats why i get annoyed at things like, deadpool
Oh is this about Dares?
Dares I can ignore
I donât like the idea of SavathĂ»n trying to reach our dimension or whatever, or Ahamkara being aware of the player and the game or whatever
Thatâs what I find meh
Dares is fun
the ONLY time i didn't get angry at that, would be "Sunset Overdrive" and even then that made more sense due to it being like, comic book metacomedy shit
I still havenât read it that closely
I just viewed it as the same thing Savathun was doing in WQ
dont you EVER, react me with a MLP gif
removing herself from the âgameâ and ascending above it all
then again it has been two years
i mean that makes more sense, she shouldn't have said game tho
unless she means like "the game of life"
game has been an established term in destiny referring to light/dark conflict
Very funny you mention that when for the most part, that's what the better characterizations of Deadpool are meant to be, in that he recognizes his existence is constructed and he is a comic book character, and the 616 him literally kills his "Kills the Marvel Universe/Ideaverse" version of himself because that's not entirely important to his character, the comedy is meant to be a deliberate cover for his deeply seated dispair
the witness itself popularized it
the nine, being outsiders to it, have also called it that
I remember back in the early Shadowkeep days when the community had a panic attack over the nineâs warning of gambit being âthe gameâ and drifter mentioning the word salvation, only for GoS to have gambit mechanics
i think i said my thing incorectly, "Sunset Overdrive" is a Video-Game, it is styled on punk-rock and comic book aesthetics, it has parts where characters break the fourth wall comedicaly for tutorials and witty dialouge, not constant refferences to the 4th wall
my friend absolutley loves the game, and is pissed off that its not getting a sequel
as the people who made Sunset overdrive i think also made some of the Marvel games
and after he glimpsed at the game companies Release calendar, and ONLY seeing marvel games, he fucking LOST it
so um yea, me and my friend have some beef with marvel for the fact they fucked over a franchize my friend liked for more garbage marvel games
Then itâs a misdirect at Deadpool specifically when itâs moreso an issue with Marvel as a publisher
honestly yea, fuck marvel, them fucks at sony can't make shit
they fr bought bungie, said "Make better content", give them absolutley ZERO time to do that, fire like a shitload of employees, threw bungie out like a homless dog, and then proceeded to make "Madame web"
so its more of a hatred towards Marvel and Sony combined
I think all video game companies suck in some capacity
some are just more cartoonishly evil and stupid than others
probably, but Sony takes the cake
eh, at least they rescinded that helldivers thing
and yet they refuse to put it on xbox
Xbox laid off a studio that gave them their first smash hit award winner in like decades
but hey more fo76 items!!!
that smash hit being?
hifi rush
Anyways we might want to draw back to lore, but Bungieâs 4th wall breaks are less there just because and more in service to the narratives they want to explore
Starhorse being Bungie is just because of how it quite literally opened up us to the Paraverse
your um, being funny, right?
Imagine making a game in total sync with its music all the way through
afaik Starhorse has zero direct connection to bungie, just the paraverse stuff
Iâd say thatâs impressive and warrants the attention that game has
itâs 100% just because they had a cosmic horse in an old cutscene that was never elaborated on so they just went âfuck itâ
Hi community, I just got back to Destiny after 2 years and would like to do some new raids or difficult missions, of anyone can help me I'd appreciate it
Dares released as their 30th anniversary. The guns reference old bungie games, such as Wastelander and Marathon. It has collectable skulls with references old bungie games. It has a map that's a direct lift from Halo.
This is a lore channel.
We talk about story and stuff here.
my bad
we talk about rabbit embryos here
theres allready a game that does that
hell something i cant remember
no no no not that
um
its was like
anyway
a doom-shooter, where you need to like, sync with music
mael tell me what the grimoire have been
Anyway the point is, Dares is essentially non canon in many regards. You can safely ignore it existing.
I havenât read any of them
No time
Got to go to work now
you failed me
Wait did the witness taking the planets remove the traveller's terraforming?
traveler and light cultivate life
Darkness reduces and kills
so, basically
canât really kill changes to gravity though
so even though mars and Mercury are barren and lifeless, gravity is still a-okay and earth type
Metal Hellsinger
And itâs an fps, Hi-Fi is a character action game, and to which both are a fairly niche genre of video game in which the rhythmic element is intrinsically tied into different game mechanics
Crypt of the Necrodancer is another example as well as their Zelda title which does the same thing
No worries, #âšdestiny-discussion or #âdestiny-questions might be more up your alley, there are people there that can help your questions (we also have an lfg channel #looking-for-group )
Goated game
Rhythmic non-rhythm games are very neat
Tf you mean, crypt is 100% a rhythm game
do we know why nezarec has a shackle on one of his feet?
But it's more than just guitar hero, you're also schmoovin around and doing attacks
I see it like Osu
Fashion statement
(I do not think we have an exact reason)
ok
Whatâs the lore behind crucible? Does it even have any lore
Like why is it okay for guardians to kill each other competitively lol
It's a sport!
So itâs actually part of the lore?
Guardians can revive themselves, it's no biggie for them to be killed
Yes
It has tons of lore, really
Damn they chilling
âSo saint 14 shot my face off with a shotgun the other dayâ
Lmao
Canonically Ikora is a total monster in the crucible
Oh yeah the maps too
I guess they just use places they discovered or something?
I can see her disintegrating random guardians and setting them on fire
The robots you see in the Onslaught are deployed into these areas and cleared of any threats before being turned into Crucible arenas
Lol
Weapons have their lore too right?
Yep
Whats the most interesting one
I was actually typing up a message about the Mythoclast's lore
thorn's lore is a great read
Whisper of the worm interests me
that one's great too
And lament
Is there a website or anything where I can read it without being in-game
Let me grab u a link
thanks Iâll check it out
I was looking into the description of the Vex Mythoclast recently. In particular, the line that says it's "strangely fit for human hands." What are your personal theories as to why it fits us humans so well? I saw somebody say the Vex may have created the weapon for us as an ackwnoledgement of their defeat in the Vault of Glass, hoping we would use it against our mutual enemies. I found that theory pretty cool and interesting, but what do some other lore fans think? :)
That website has every lore entry from D1 to D2 I believe
All the grimoire cards and shit
Yeah Iâm going through it now and damn itâs got everything
It's awesome
Enjoy!
Where does the whisper of the worm lore actually start
There are so many categories and sub-categories
Hmm, I'm not sure..
iirc, the youtuber My Name is Byf has a video on Whsiper
where he goes into the lore of the mission and stuff
as well as additional context
Ah okay
as for specific grimoire cards, i could not tell ya
With the Warmind DLC, technically.
Or arguably the Books of Sorrow
I'd love to help but I'm at work I'm afraid
I'm free for chatting for the whole weekend starting tomorrow though
That was until prior to the end of Arrivals, there is some evidence in the lore that some locations which don't make sense for us to access are simulated, just like Trials (I don't have the exact entry Mael or Dova or Waltz will have to find it)
Thats a bit more lame
I mean some places were Taken during Arrivals, so it's not like the Redjacks were going to be able to go to those places to clear em out
So is the crucible like a sport basically?
Yes
and are the maps simulations?
Weapon foundaries have sponsorships too
Not always
Redjacks secure zones for it to be all live fire
Originally and what used to be the case is what Syd and Eris said, areas cleared for the live fire trials
Shaxx explicitly mentions in this new update that he made a deal with the Neomuni to actually use a mall on Neptune for an arena
Oh ok
And once a foundry tried to entice Shaxx to rig games for them to make their stuff look good
Was it Tex?
I was gonna ask
Think it was Tex
It was
(Replying to this now that we have some more activity in here)
:)
I think Dova or someone else went over it long time ago what their theory was
I've considered that it may have been influenced by either Praedyth or Kabr
That could be
Maybe some of the 227 since they too were exploring the Vault
The 227?
227 copies of the Ishtar team (e.g. Maya and Chioma Esi) simulated by a Vex unit and freed by Rasputin, sent into the Vex Network
I see
Hang on, what even IS the curse they put on the dreaming city
Basically taken
Then what's all this corsair stuff? It seems like they're in a loop, and they know it?
The loop
Ahuh
The curse is the 3 week time loop they are perpetually stuck in
And they KNOW they're in this loop? So is it a sort of bites the dust thing? Like no matter what, the same thing will occur?
In the Shattered Throne dungeon we believed that the end boss, I believe theyâre Savathunâs daughters, were the ones maintaining the curse but they are just overseeing it; we have found no way to break the curse nor how to get anyone out of it
âThey started it!â
So what do we know about the curse? Am I right?
Yes to both
They know they're in the loop but they cannot help themselves from preforming the same actions
Nevertheless if someone were to remove them from the loop then the Hive would succeed and steal their secrets
It's a lose lose
out if curiosity, lore friends, could a hive lightbearer, or otherwise paracausal hive become an exo?
hmmmmm (shorter this time)
I canât feasibly see why not, as itâs just a matter of copying over a brainscan but
The og would likely still exist, as even if the procedure kills them their Ghost could just revive them
So now you just have an Exo copy running around alongside them
I wonder if they could get a ghost of their own then, given how traditional guardians work
I guess the worms might pose an issue as a source of power, though
I mean, there isnât a way to make new exos if Im not mistaken
But we have seen Atraks become one in the deep stone crypt
So its possible but probably not for a lightbearer
Yeah, continuing this thought experiment, if that Exo copy dies then conceivably a Ghost could come around to revive them, which would make things even weirder- Though even then, as the copy is a blank slate even post-Exoification, they're still inherently their own individual from there if they can't get the memories uploaded.
And yeah, dunno how the worm would figure into that. Though still, when you give a regular Hive then they still stay dead unless otherwise brought back.
And Hive Lightbearers don't have worms themselves.
..was there any overlap between the hives return and the golden age? I don't think so?
yeah it definitely didn't I was just curious what lore ppl thought of the concept
There's nothing to say it's not possible.
Even then paracausal would probably not work alongside it
i gotta do dsc this week since it's farmable, such a cool lore raid
One day I need to do that raid, but the DSC, Exos, etc have always been my favorite lorebits. First character I made was even an Exo. Have you read Clovis Bray's Logbook by chance, Ram?
Gimme the scoop on this taniks guy, why won't he die?
Is that really all he's attacking us for? We pissed him off?
his body is mostly machine
and Taniks was originally motivated by the thrill of the hunt
though in DSC, he's motivated by vengeful rage
is savathun's throne world in orbit around mars or something? cuz in the witch queen's first mission we go through the portal, but every time after that we just kind of fly there i guess.
It's still in the Ascendant Plane, which is another dimension. We actually have no idea how our Jumpship gets in, since we don't know of any other portals, and it was never explained.
Maybe the Lure has, like, a bigger portal on it.
i mean after you do an activity in the throne world you are literally orbiting it with your ship, so maybe there's something in space around Mars that lets us access it. kind of weird it isnt explained, but i guess its not really that important after all.
What's the deal with the bray family are they all time travellers?
Elsie is stuck in a time loop and Ana did research on her original self iirc
I'm not particularly well versed on the family but only Elsie bray is stuck in a time loop.
Huh
During the dark future where eris presumably detonated the fucking traveler using some darkness magic, she got stuck in a time loop which I believe begins right after cayde kills taniks
Clovis Bray('s company) did have a timeline hopping device derived from Vex tech, but no, only Elsie Bray is stuck in a timeloop. Trapped, I should say. She cannot control it.
Elsie has experienced literally countless "dark futures" and cannot remember them all clearly
Every time Elsie dies or the traveler dies I believe the loop resets?
And that was not the first
Isn't she an exo though
Is there a lore reason why Elsie Bray has had three different voices?
We do not actually know
Doesn't her memory need resetting
Yes.
No.
Huh
Different accents. I can relate, I do the same thing.
She's a special made exo
Clovis did some favoritism for his own exo, and Elsie's
it was just jarring hearing her in bl have a super british accent and then now a kind of american accent lol
She's the reason we do the entire main d1 campaign in the first place
She gives us very important pointers
I will switch between various British accents, Australian, and occasionally some others.
Leading us to the black heart
She featured in at least two cutscenes
Maybe three
is there really a lore explanation then? or was it simply a change in direction
Sorry i only played d1 until the 2nd raid dropped then i bounced
Briefly on the moon, a dialogue on Venus, and a post campaign?
It's just Elsie with a different accent
Not much more to it really
Though she is somewhat multicultural
She was in d1 at the very beginning
Something like that
So you probably just don't remember
D1 vanilla, base campaign
D1 base campaign
I know it's a bit of a jumble but she was there from basically the start
i swear if there's a moment in tfs where its revealed that we in the future are who she was talking to in that one cutscene in d1 i will literally be mildly intrigued at best
Well. It's not implausible, though she does not currently have any control over her timeline shenanigans. Unless you count the uh... implication that she may have killed herself once to go back around again.
i think its more likely that that'll just be a mystery until the end of time because bungie had zero clue what they were doing writing that original campaign lol
True enough
i still laugh whenever i see perks or whatever in D1 calling literally every pve enemy a "minion of the darkness", including groups like the cabal or the eliksni
D1 Cabal: "What's a Light"
remember that interview where luke smith i think it was was asked what the darkness really was and he said "fuckin uhhh idk lol"
do we have lore about child of the old gods?
the warlock void buddy
and is it really connected to an old god? i am kinda thinking like lovecraftian mythos
i think its just a lil black hole fella, but i'll check real quick
ooohh....now i want a quasar
No, and probably not.
In the deepest reaches, a pact made between unknowable entities created something from nothing. It lives on.
This is all we know.
interesting
Void more or less represents gravity and the fabric of spacetime from my understanding
I think quasars are more Solar territory
or maybe Arc?
idk
nah, definitely Solar
oohhh i see, hmm yeah now that i think about it yeah
zappity zap of the universe
another question, prismatic is in a sense neutral element right?
Osiris actually explains what each of the 5 elements represent
lemme find it real quick
Prismatic seems to just be everything
whenever i see a number and elements together mf avatar intro suddenly just bursts in my thought
Transcendence specifically is balance between everything
avatar intro is living rent free in my head whenever i hear elements
Light and Darkness are the parents of the elements
Arc, Void, and Solar are just subdivisions of the Light and Stasis and Strand are just subdivisions of the Darkness
ooohhh
and Light and Darkness together are probably just two halves of the same whole
in a sense we would have a 7th element if bungie released the last darkness subclass
this is just my understanding of Destiny's elements, someone tell me if i'm wrong lol
hopefully its their lucky number for the expansion they will do for that
i think ur right
since a there will be always a parent before a "child/sub" will appear
I have a lowkey prediction that the 3rd darkness subclass will come with one of the episodes or something, and that that will obviously be added to prismatic as well
now if you were to ask me what i think that element would be, id have no clue
but i'd be perfectly content with the subclasses we have now tbh, especially with prismatic coming out
i dont really need another darkness subclass
Alright thanks
tho if we look at the emotions(?) representing darkness since what they said in some cinematics stasis is seperation or division, strand is the connection of sorts
i think stasis represents our individual will and strand is consciousness
I love stasis
stasis isn't really ice or anything, it only resembles that so that it can make sense
i like it too, it could have been better tho in terms of perks
Crucible flashbacks
stasis power crept the light subclasses but has in turn become power crept lol
My interpretation of stasis is willpower, as in staying resilient and hopeful even through the worst times like in the beyond light story
And utilising that sorrow as a weapon I guess
behemoth having 3 mins worth of super?
Stasis is control.
Emotional control in particular. The will to exert that control over others, over yourself and your emotions.
Failure to control yourself will result in... Well, in Eramis.
Me watching a thundercrash titan head right towards me
i am kinda seeing this as math signs stasis is divison, strand is addition, probably the next is subtraction?
idk what i am talking about
What?
all i am trying to say is probably "cutting" something out and erasing its existence
thats what strand can do i think
sever
yeah i dunno if we're getting another darkness subclass. it could happen but ehh
also, i dont know if bungie wants to do another regular old subclass after prismatic yknow
i call it the skittle subclass
Prismatic won't be able to do everything that the individual subclasses can. There's still reason for them, and by extension, new ones.
so do you think we're getting a new one at some point then, Mael?
hmmm there is a chance but never 0 i guess
the only idea i've had for another darkness class was something to do with Taking, but then again, didn't we reject that power back when we killed Oryx?
more than likely tho a new subclass will be something without prior existence in the story, just like strand
symbiote like for darkness subclass
probably don't want to make the slavery subclass
i was thinking more summoning taken but yeah
gamers what if the superblack is a teaser to the new real dankess subclass???//??/
i am listening
i mean

strand
we already have darkness subclass web grapples
i know we got strand
why not symbiote
it clings and gives...well symbiosis to its host
man made tho
i know, im joking
siva fanatics when they realise it made Neomuna and was made redundant years ago
hmm yeah people do want that
ooof mael goodluck with that hot take
they might raid your vault in the tower for that
everyone's like "new darkness subclass" this and that, nah
what about a new LIGHT subclass
the opposite of the superblack shader is the [my lawyers have advised my not to finish this joke]
i think its complete since its 3 already(light subclass)
so far for darkness we got 2
how about more subclass supers for each?
yeah, especially the darkness subclasses
For stasis lock how about a super mega staff ice blast
and a stasis hunter roaming super with the scythes would be sick
i mean for hunters they can do scythe, warlock can do what hege said, titans can probably use a throwable giant anchor and freeze a huge area
bring back self rez for solar warlocks you cowards
oooh that might be balanced or nerfed too much i guess tho best course for them to avoid all those hoops is not to implement it
the obvious answer is to just make self rez not be a thing for wipe mechanics but then you still have the trials problem from d1
i loved self rez so much tho
it was a cruch really fun
self rez would be such a significant problem in so many parts of the game
yes, but consider this: it would be funny
yo i just remembered a really old silly idea i had to bring back self rez, make it the main gimmick of a new darkness subclass for all 3 classes
but this wouldnt be until D3 or something cuz of all the problems self rez creates in D2
but then again think of the community: it will be funny for them until its not for them (pvp wise)
i am a dev too tho just entry level but most of the time (not a game dev btw, but this is from my friend's) if you will implement something that seems broken if you can find loops and hoops to make it not broken and still fun go ahead, but you have to make sure that wont break the rest of the game over time otherwise just outright scrap it
anyway i got a question since i am not a d1 player
tf is a black heart exactly? other than its taken
ahh, the black heart question
Because the Witness had lost the Veil, it was its attempt to re-create it basically
i dont think it has anything to do with the taken
[Message Link](#đlore-discussion message) to #đlore-discussion
black_heart_origin.mp3
wow that embeded badly
take this instead
'cause i can't be bothered typing it out again
i should add this into my FAQ
I mean an actual typed out version
I'm going to go make a tea
oh wow damn
oh right i heard being a game lore master is actually a job for video game companies
i remember before it was revealed that the black heart was a proto-veil being so pissed off at its existence as nothing more than a darkness macguffin that didnt really mean or do anything or pose any tangible threat. I guess thats still true but at least theres more context attached to it now lol
d1 base campaign is kind of bad
i heard people praising it tho that d1 campaign is better than d2 tho
d2 campaign is overrated and seen with rose tinted glasses because its removed from the game but its still probably much better than d1 campaign
d2 campaign had the first two missions, d1 campaign had nothing
yeah it was cool
and Journey is a classic, but after that red war campaign kinda sucked
it might just be me liking ruins and all but i really loved that ruined tower, ambers and the war torn state of the last city
An idea i saw for the red war first mission is that it shouldve started with a guardian parade through the streets of the city and then all hell breaks loose
it explains why we all show up with lame ass armor and weapons, and lets us see the city in its last moments before disaster, giving us a more tangible motivation to keep fighting
oof that would have much more impact tbh
it wouldve
