theyâre tied to the life of the solar system and want to be freed from this limitation
The dungeon itself was the answer.
they use Xur and the emissary as ways to interact with guardians
their answer is just light/darkness are the same, in their own eyes
which is what the whole dungeon is about
Do we see other members
you swap between getting light and darkness but they serve the same purpose
Other than xur
We've never "seen" one of the Nine.
heâs not a member
We have seen Xûr, the Agent of the Nine, and Orin, the Emissary of the Nine, but never one of the actual Nine.
the emissary used to be an awoken guardian and xur is just like, some guy they got
The Nine are swirls of dark matter that formed loops due to the gravitational pulls of the Solar System and gained sentience due to the presence of conscious beings within the system. They're barely physical, they have no true body. They are everywhere and nowhere.
we think heâs from some human settlements around Jupiter but itâs not confirmed
whether they all look like that, he has his own unique condition, or if heâs actually even one of them, we donât know
the hunch thing is unrelated though
heâs just disfigured
Iâve heard about trials of the nine does that tell anything or is it just a gamemode
it was the introduction to the emissary
It is quite an old gamemode that hasn't been around for years.
and just a replacement for trials of Osiris when D2 released
now totn is gone and Osiris is back
Iâve only heard about it because of the famous shader
The simple explanation for the Trials of the Nine is that they were testing our skill and capabilities
Who is the face at the end of prophecy I thought it was another member of the nine
Makes sense
emissary
The Emissary, who was once Orin.
Wait, are they Nine because there's nine large objects in the Solar System?
it doesnât really matter
Well youâre not wrong but also the chemical materials used in the reaction are generally more stable than what youâd conventionally think; but yes, there has probably been enough time that has passed that the half-life of uranium and other nuclear payloads have been reached, resulting in the decomposition of those materials
Also morning yâall
That would make sense tho
Not explicitly, but there is a connection to be made.
However, The Nine aren't strictly the planetary bodies themselves. It is simply the gravitational mass of these combined bodies that gives them form.
Theyâre sentient space dust, at the very least thatâs the most plausible origin that theyâve given us in their lorebook
Yeah, and since there's nine large bodies, which have the stronger gravity out of all the objects in the System, that's why there's nine.
they formed in the wake of the solar system
itâs not like youâre actually talking to the planet mars or whatever
Yeah
That's not an origin, it's just a "what"
I know that
I wasnât personally talking to you
Perhaps. There isn't an explicit connection, just a possible logical link.
Honestly I thought Orin was Uldren when I saw an image of Prophecy
They were already ancient when the first human beings named themselves. Their flesh was older than stars: the dark dust wind that blows through the galaxy, pinched by the gravity of Sol and its planets, drawn into their cores and exhaled again.
These were the Nine.
In time loops did form. Great arcs of outbound dust collapsed back to their sources to create circuits of shadow. The thickening and thinning of these circuits were the first thoughts of the Nine. They dwelt in massive indifference, unborn primordial gods. There was no force among them except gravity; no structure except the distribution of mass. Their hearts were in the cores of worlds, but their farthest streams faded out into the turn of the galaxy.
They were the fountains of Achlys, the night before chaos.
But life arose on the worlds at the heart of the Nine, tiny complicated motions of ecosystems and metabolisms and computations. That life left mass-shadows in the wind of the Nine, plucking at them like harp strings. From these trembles of structure the Nine learned to seed enormous resonating waves, thoughts vaster than worlds.
So the Nine awoke. And in time they understood that they were as fragile as they were mighty; for if the life that seeded their thoughts ever passed away, they too would vanish.```
Donât Pepe react me
That's kinda the point, and best dungeon is
It quite literally contains an entry in which the Nine give possible origins to their existence
No idea I just played four lol
Warlords ruin isnât annoying ?????????
Exactly
I mean
Anyways
GOATS of the deep on top
âAny and all taken are a husk of their former selvesâ
Thank you Nexus
Something has to be alive to taken
Either that or space dust coalesced into the shape of those husks
*usually
Which the Nine did
Whatâs the origin of the taken
I was asking but forgot the ?
they got taked
Witness delivery
anyway
So Oryx pretty much captured a bunch of enemies and took then?
There have been a small handful of exceptions
The vex are cruel BUT
in deep there were a few taken bosses that were previous dead and not taken bosses
but Iâm willing to excuse that
Also back on Io
To open the Whisper portal
thatâs because Xol has necromancy
*probably
and seemingly the power to take
my assumption is the ones from deep were also his
and ownership just transferred over to Xivu as it does
Did xol get necromancy from nokris? Or other way around
Nokris got it from Xol
anywho i'm about to die from illness so goodnight
itâs why heâs a heretic
Ah

Speaking of heretics
not only did he directly commune with a worm god (something only the osmium court are supposed to do)
he engaged in necromancy
very cringe
Did xivu mention savathun a heretic for using the light?
directly im not sure and dont care enough to check

but it is why she was so excited about Eris becoming a new hive god
new sister that actually embodies sword logic
Also
yeah and then that happened
Found a funny when looking through gifs
in summary hive are cringe
I wonder what will happen after light and darkness saga ends
real estate broking
Destiny 3 is allegedly being worked on under the codename payback
And what about marathon
No, ignore those rumors
Itâll come out at some point
But tfs wonât be the end of destiny
Yes
Then d3 will come out someday
No
Are they just gonna make d2 forever
Maybe
I think a fresh start would be much better since d2 is kinda getting old
The engine is showing its age
Play d1
And probably even limiting the devs
Also d2 is not welcoming to new players
I think a fresh start would be much healthier for the lifespan of destiny as a franchise
đ
If destiny ends there wonât be any alternatives
And if the rumors about d3 are true what could payback mean
I haven't heard any single rumours about D3 that aren't just people saying "gee willikers i wish we had D3"
This article is probably bs
But there could also be some truth to it
This is looking a little bit too much like leaks for me to be interested in reading it.
Look
If Bungie didn't explicitly said it
And if it is, then it's against the rules and needs deleting.
Is not true

Leaks are dumn
But itâs gonna happen at some point tfs is not the end of destiny
I have absolutely zero interest in humouring a discussion based around leaks.

A lot of times is not even leaks is just some random dude talking shit
Is really infuriating see a lot of the actual press talking about it, worst, talking about like it is true
Well, they've got a pretty solid foundation for the universe already - given it has a bunch of lore and a trilogy of games for it already.
So, there's that.
"Destiny 3 is on development"
At the bottom of the article is the moment they say some dude on Reddit said
I agree actually
People give Destiny a lot of shit but a very widely agreed upon point is that the gunplay feels solid
So a game that isn't shackled to this form of live service and can focus on movement and gunplay...
Keep in mind its an extraction shooter
so is Helldivers 2
that's doing pretty well
so is Deep Rock Galactic, for that matter
is extraction shooter defined just by the escape sequence
I donât know what it means
Yeah
Extraction shooters are awesome
I loved DMZ when that was a thing
Best thing cod had in years and they just stopped supporting it
Such a shame
Not exactly
You infil and do the stuff that you gotta do (missions, looting etc.) and then you try to exfil to keep your stuff
If you die you lose your stuff and youâll have to regain
Itâs PvPvE
No it isnât
It kinda is to some extent
Helldivers doesnât fall into the actual classification of extraction shooter that marathon is
You gotta exfil with your samples and shit
I wouldnât call it an extraction shooter but it has some elements
Its also a pve co-op game
Straight up marathon seems really cool but its an extraction shooter
Is that a bas thing
That potentially limits the playerbase
Personally I hate extraction shooters, but on top of that its gonna be more so about pvp than pve most likely
Exactly
Why do you hate extraction shooters
Not necessarily
Kinda depends on you
If you donât want pvp just avoid real players
If itâs anything like DMZ itâs gonna be a slam dunk trust me
Its the exact same thing as a battle royal but requires significantly more attention and losing costs you, which isnât bad in concept except it doesnât work for most games, especially if its bungies next big title
Im interested in the lore that itâll bring
But thats about it
Itâs not really like a battle royale but okay I get it you arenât interested
Im not saying it is, Im comparing it in gameplay loop, unlike a battle royal you have to actually put thought in
Plus like battleroyals, there are like 50 Extraction shooters in development rn
Its exploding in popularity and its gonna overflow the market and people wonât care
Iâm sure bungie is cooking as we speak
I donât doubt that, I doubt the longevity
They always innovate Iâm sure they will not make an extraction shooters with sci if reskin
D2 will probably live until a competitor shows up
And with today's companies? No way
They're waaaay too scared to try that
It doesnât necessarily have to be hardcore and super difficult like tarkov
DMZ was more casual and it was so damn good
I have severely misunderstood the topic
D2 ainât going to have a competitor lmao, not now or within awhile
Yeah cuz every big studio is making extraction shooters and battle royales
Yeah and it died because they did minor updates to it every 3 months and cod movement made it un enjoyable for casually playing
Tarkov is popular because of it being hardcore, thats why it succeeds
It was the best thing cod ever made in the past decade
But itâs not for the casual players thats why it has a limited playerbase
Being not friendly to the casuals is pretty much why a game die
(Cough cough helldivers)
MW II movement was perfect for the more tactical gameplay of DMZ imo
Wait that thing is hardcore?
Helldivers has some easy casual missions but it's absolutely not catered towards that
Marathon will not be like tarkpv tho
Seeing gameplay and images I thought it was
Pretty standard
Glad to heard that though
Also it absolutely doesn't try to be for everyone
It explicitly says so
It will more likely be more casual and forgiving like DMZ
"A game for everyone is a game for no-one"
In harder difficulties you're swarmed with enemies that can 1shot you and resist like 80% of your guns unless you shoot the crit spot
But there are easier options for the casuals
An extraction shooter canât have an easy mode
Helldivers is a extraction shooter, but I see what you mean
Itâs not but I see what you mean
It has extraction shooter elements but thatâs it
You extract samples thatâs all
No it literally is, but it's not a pvp extraction shooter like tarkov is
But the very "dropping in, do thing, extract from mission" is extraction shooter
It's a broader genre than tarkov makes it seem like
Yeah I guess you do have a point
But your point was tarkovs type of extraction shooter
Yeah
So my point is mute anyway
And I mean
You can have a degree of difficulty
That you can change
Maps
But that's about it
No your point makes sense but itâs not the kind of extraction shooters Iâm talking about
Maybe once extraction shooters grow it will have its own sub-genres
Tarkovs main reason of why its still popular is because of how hardcore it is
Or maybe because itâs the first of its kind and some people are into the realism
What Iâm trying to say is that marathon will probably try to appeal to a casual fanbase too because bungie has to make money
Tarkov just a year or two ago had an extremely high cheater count that absolutely ravaged the game and if Im not mistaken still does
Dmz was popular because it was free to play and was cod
What does that have to do with what I said
Look at the actual reason these games are popular
Its because they have something actually going for them
If DMZ was anything like tarkov a lot less people would be playing it because DMZ is more chill
Mf your just ignoring my shit Im just done talking to you
Iâm not
But DMZ isnât popular just because itâs cod
Itâs good thatâs why
I get it, it was shit at beginning but with updates and stuff it became very fun and engaging
@gentle geyser
You should have given it a proper go
Agreed
We have the Episodes after Final Shape, which seems to be the model Bungie will be adopting for the future (though that part is speculative). Considering that is directly revealed by Bungie as opposed to a Forbes article citing a Reddit post as their source, itâs more likely D2 will continue receiving service from Bungie while they start working on other projects such as Marathon and whatever else they may be developing, which at the moment we are not legally privy to and should not be prying into via leaks or whatnot
Anyways rabbit embryo
Source?
Marasenna
Other than The Liar, A Man With No Name, and that Titan who immediately had to fight a group of Cabal, is there lore that covers the first time a guardian is rezzed?
Doghive⊠Explain
I had the exact funko pop in your profile
Ghost stories has a handful, including Caydeâs
Doghive.
We have little direct details as to what happened, which is surprising considering this was a nigh Amazonian Awoken woman who used the og Wishender - I believe we have a smaller, weaker one, the original had much larger bolts and required a greater amount of pull strength, I think Shaxx struggled to draw the string back - and was able to befriend or at least tame two Ahamkara until the time of the Great Hunt.
How a woman like that dating Mara Sov could disappear, we donât know yet
From Seth, the guy that wrote basically a majority of the mythos of Destiny, author of Unveiling and I believe the Books of Sorrow https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1119631517287727225/1216769849447944292/Screenshot_20221217_183950_Edge-1.png?ex=6626823a&is=66140d3a&hm=d35fa1f70ffb7b0dc89a70dda2d7c6f9a767974ba4d78d63f513ee9e2b545533&
Doghive is also mentioned somewhere in Clovis Brayâs entries, which is what the Reddit comment is probably referencing
Thanks for the explanation now I know what the doghive is
I did some sketches đ„°

We also have the cowthing from Marasenna - basically the origins of the Awoken (and by extension Mara) - she and her mom visit some commanding officer of some sort who adds milk to their tea sourced from a âcowthingâ

So she just⊠disappeared? Really?
Itâs a good one
OoooOOo wait for the inevitable Awoken Episode
If there's no elaboration on something, it can and will be picked up in the future to be, well, elaborated upon in a focused expansion
So, about those âepisodesâ Iâve heard that thereâs a vex one and a hive one, but whatâs the third one?
Or is it confirmed to be an Awoken thing
Scorn
Ah
We need to pin this for discussions regarding continued story after Final Shape
Yea
Ngl I canât believe weâre on the last season
They are moving away from the seasonal model, they presented Episodes as the new approach
Whatâs the difference
Same thing but acts
Except for weekly stuff
Correct me if Iâm wrong instead of pepe reacting me
Whatâs the difference tho
Canât say
As someone who isnât in the position to correct anyone on anything, Pepe reacting is the way
Itâs just seasonal quests but split into story arcs from what Iâm seeing
We will know when we see
Also, was this image released before FS was delayed?
Mmmmmaybe
I ask because
If it wasnât, then ig we are waiting from June to March of 2025 to have new destiny content
Adjustment for how long the story goes on, don't believe we have a set amount of time these episodes last but might not be the same as the seasons, yadda yadda yadda
Before; articles presenting that diagram Bungie provided came out in the middle of summer last year and the delay was only announced in November judging from an IGN article as first google result
And it's very likely that the first episode will launch alongside the Final Shape expansion
Bruh weâre gonna be swimming in content
Well the expansion will only have the campaign and raid I believe, with often the seasonal content being supplemental after expansions
But yes we will be swimming in content, as is the focus of Episodes
Well the expansion looks epic, and isnât the raid going to be super long?
Thanks for the rec đ just read it
One of my favorite lorebooks. The uniqueness of every perspective shown in here is đŻđŻđŻ
Especially that dark age warlord who got drunk off the power and got ditched by his ghost
Please tell me Prismatic is obtained in the first campaign mission, and that the first campaign mission will be available for everyone, along with the Pale Heart
looks like it from the video
as in start in the first mission
which is what happened with strand
meaning it probably wonât be free
Well, the first campaign mission will probably be free. Itâd be a shocker if it wasnât
Just like itâs be a shocker if Bungie allowed something as nice, and such a good sales opportunity, like prismatic to be free
Though the pale heart will likely be open to explore
Mmmmmmmm
Considering how OP Prismatic can be, it would be unfair for those who don't have it to go against people who do in the Crucible and such
And from the trailer, it looks like you'll get Prismatic early on
Keeping Prismatic behind the expansion will incentivize more purchases for players wanting to experience it
But allowing early experience of it in the first mission will allow a taste of it
I do wonder what the final mission will be after the worlds first raid
As someone who was stuck getting non-stop suspended, grappled, and threadling-ed before I got lightfall, I can assure you that âfairnessâ is not a word in Bungieâs language
Will it be possible to have the witness as a final boss in TFS campaign or raid
Itâs in the Raid, just like Kingsfall
Would bungie give out a trophy for the first people completing the raid
And thereâs still ways to deal with Strand guardians, like as much as a suspend grenades can get you out of nowhere, Strand kits require you to be near any surface or getting up close to you
Definitely in the raid but there is also the possibility they can also be fought in the campaign, similarly to Oryx in The Taken King
Fair
given what we know, the Witness will be fought in the raid first and most likely in the final campaign mission which we believe is unlocked after the raid is completed
This fact makes me wonder if The Final Shape campaign will still be 8 missions long (including the potential post-raid one)
Well, Stasis and Strand may be OP, but they're still similar to the Light subclasses in terms of power. But Prismatic is too OP in comparison.
first 7 missions - raid - last mission
as far as I'm aware, Bungie confirmed that the campaign is the ususal 8 missions
Yeah I imagine thats what it will be. I hope the last mission is just the Witness fight (with no added padding)
Eventually, after its original period, it will probably be brought down to size with the other classes
I mean it already has a limited set of aspects and other stuff making it so that it's not entirely broken
And even then, itâs not like theyâre taking the best aspects, etc from every other subclass and stitching them together.
Best is somewhat subjective considering it's clear some aspects opt into a specific build more so than others and each player will be more inclined towards one build than another, but ye
I've been a bit out of the lore for awhile, do we know for sure what the final shape is yet?
ehhh
Thank you
Nah
Triton Vice states that the final shape = carcinization but itâs a meme loretab
âCrabs, obviously! The perfect organism! The form toward which all life inevitably converges!â
Why were there no lorebooks between ttk and forsaken?
Ok ive never really thought to ask about this but who exactly is the woman who gave the drifter the huge asteroid or whatever from the nine and I know she's the giant lady who talks to xur but like who is she
She honestly comes off as definitely more powerful than the traveler and maybe even the witness to me atleast
Why do you get that impression?
Because itâs completely off lmao
She just comes off that way to me from the cutscenes that they've shown us it's hard to explain
Sheâs the Emissary of the Nine. Used to be a Guardian Drifter knew called Orin
I mean ye the traveler like disintegrated being like gauhl and stuff like that and the witness cut into the traveler but she just attaches a hole ass other plain of existence or whatever to the drifters ship and whatever else she's prolly done that I can't remember off the top of my head
The Nine giving Drifter the Haul isnât really the massive, impressive feat you seem to think it is
The Haul basically just allowed Drifter to do Gambit, and then allowed us to go into the Nineâs realm in Prophecy
Ye but the haul looks like it's being torn from the fast expanse of space
The Nine are bound by causality though. Theyâve attempted to use paracausal powers like Light and Darkness to help themselves before because they are limited
And to just attach that to a ship like cmon

Idk she just came off as some extremely powerful being that caught my interest
She has cool lore but sheâs definitely not some mega powerful being
Thereâs a book on Orin/Nasya/Nasan Ar/the Emissary
nah just tied it down with some ratchet straps and it wont go anywhere
It is wholly dependent on the individual, whom defined what the Final Shape is to them; it as image of how the universe should be
Did individual nations exist in the golden age
And if so was it the same ones from today
Some did
There are also things we know of such as the North American Empire
itâs a giant rock with a wormhole in the middle
literally just a haul tied to drifterâs ship
Source

Mmmm thereâs Two Kinds I think of but I am Good Boy and shut trap
not so fun fact
you were being spied on in Destiny 2 by a group of gardians led by ikora ray your gardian is on the list of suspects along with eramis and oryx there are others but I do not care to remember them ( sry if I spelled anything wrong )
Lol wtf
Bro watched the youtube short
fair enough but I just wanted to share it in case someone didn't see it or knew it :]
á ( á )á
not suspects
the vanguard just has a list of important persons
we are an important person
oryx was also an important person
as a fun reference bungie had the id numbers listed as 2014 and 2015 respectively
Heh, years of appearance for each respectively (The Guardian was First Rezzed in 2014 with the launch of Destiny, Oryx made his appearance in Taken King expansion in 2015)
although his first name drop was in dark below
ThatâsâŠnot exactly true
?
Waltz already did the correction
Yeah
The Hidden arenât spying on us and we arenât âsuspectsâ in some mysterious, nefarious way
The Hidden gather intelligence for the Vanguard, and as an important figure in pretty much every recent event, we get VIP status
There was one time we actually were a suspect of the Hidden though
Thatâs when one Aunor Mahal investigated our potential involvement in the death of Cayde-6
That was just her doing her job and leaving no stone unturned and all that
They know what you did
To an extent yes, they do spy on suspects, but they do that to all important people
uhhhh i have no idea what you mean
i'm innocent
The Guardian who's been turning enemies into weapons and using banned weapons:
You know what you did
You turn like 3 things into guns

Not to mention the use of Darkness (and being able to use it naturally without help from anything)
Did Shaxx have a wife?
Let's see... Oryx's heart, at both his and Eris's desire... and what else? 1K did that itself, Hierarchy was Soteria's choice... Whisper was Xol's choice...
i did not explode those 20 pyramid ships because I was bored I promise
It's a joke about Crimson Days and The Vow
Stasis required a lot of help including a Splinter and Strand killed us a dozen times
Shaxx is married to the Crucible
tbh if The Crucible was a real thing he would probably marry it
Yeah, but eventually we were able to use them unaided
Yes, as can everyone else.
Pretty sure that in the case of Stasis, you need the tech from House of Salvation
You don't require anything. We learned it via a Splinter, but that's just training wheels.
Anyone can use it without anything, eventually.
Just look at Eris Morn and Drifter and Elsie Bray
2/3 aren't Lightbearers and none have Salvation tech
And then thousands of Guardians after us learn to wield Stasis just the same
Or heck
The Scorn
I think hobgobs throw stasis grenades
Acolytes and hobgoblins actually
Pretty sure they both can have stasis weapons
Is there any info about whether we're going to see Jolyon in-game or not?
Thereâs nothing to suggest we would
Baited by the radio message
Half of Witch Queen is just our Ghost being racist towards Hive Ghosts
Based
"Here's the thing," he says. "No."
Petra is trying to hide the hurt in her expression. Watching her is exhausting, so Jolyon keeps his eye pressed to his sniper scope.
"I thought you would want to see it."
"Why? He's dead. He died a long time before you shot him. Or if you didn't," Jolyon says, as if Petra flinched, "you helped that Guardian do it."
What is Petra asking him to see? This tab was released in Forsaken, don't think Crow was in the cards at the time
I would assume Uldrenâs body
Ah
Damn that's cold lol, figured it wasn't Uldren's body because she referred to it as an "it"
I mean, the corpse is an it
Why the hell is Ikora randomly on my ass, spouting voice lines about my supposed wavering loyalty to the Vanguard???

#Destiny2 #IkoraRey #WarlockVanguard #TheTower
huh
In fairness we do defy orders alot
Bit of a long story
Short answer is, it shouldn't exist for you
When Ikora's VA was replaced, the new VA remade all of the old idles
While i agree, i don't think Big Blue and formerly crazy shotgun lady exactly see eye to eye with you
is this from a season i wasnt here for?
This included the old Season of the Drifter lines back when we could choose to side with Aunor Mahal or Drifter
Back when Forsaken dropped
So if you chose Drifter
She'd use this line
This was an experiment long, long abandoned, and hasn't been relevant for years
idk who the other guy is, but chances are i would choose Drifter
She shouldn't be using this line at all these days but the idle wasn't correctly tagged
dang
they gotta disable that shit, i was getting so upset with her when i was doing Witch Queen
Aunor Mahal? She's a Praxic Warlock, and member of the Hidden. She investigated Cayde's death, and at this time was investigating Drifter for his connection to the Darkness and Taken and some murders.
i still think it's valid, considering we have done quite a few things that the vanguard told us not to do, such as going to Europa and using Stasis, avenging Cayde (even though Ikora supported us on that, technically) a
did we ever see this Warlock?
not ingame
Not physically, no. But she's been around the block. Met Drifter, Shin Malphur, arrested Sola Scar, dealt with multiple corrupted Guardians, so on.
i would call that insubordination rather than wilting loyalty. Everything we do is for The Last City
interesting, thank you for clearing that up. been driving me nuts
Do the disciples of the witness believe in his desire to impose meaning on the universe
Or are they just serving him just because
as far as we know, each Disciple has their own conflicting view of what the Final Shape actually is
So how would that mesh with the witness wanting what he wants?
and the Witness isn't very keen on telling them what it really is (assuming that even the Witness itself truly knows)
Why wouldnât he tell them
because the Witness would rather let them assume that it intends on giving them what they want
Do we know what they each want?
I some of them want the FInal Shape like Rhulk
but Rhulk believes that the key component to it is getting as many people to serve the Witness as possible
more efficient to recruit than to simply destroy
others like Calus just want to be elevated
Why tf isnât my phone charger working
though Calus does have his own ideas on the FInal Shape that being the end of everything
It was working fine yesterday
And the witness doesnât believe in that?
is it not connecting with the phone itself properly?
No everything is connected properly
Itâs just not charging
hmmm
anyways
â
A delusion of a being long dead, an idea of living only to serve, only for one purpose. It leaves behind a sharp-edged data fragment to mark its passing.
There is a conflict in me, O Witness, that unsettles your weapon, my self. Why is it that you allow flawed understandings of your great work to persist in all those who serve you, even in you...
this entry provides some good insight
Same happened to me 3 days ago đ bought a 7th phone charger
Iâve like never experienced this before
What phone do u have
Samsung S23 ultra
I suppose the best way to explain it is that the Witness doesn't really care about its disciples, it just wants useful pawns
usb c?
like ion, the charging cable just stops working sometimes
Yupp
and to do that the Witness does some manipulating to coerce them into servitude like Rhulk
If might be because Iâm using a computer charger đ
Oh erm..
Although itâs worked great up until now
USB C is a usb C đ€·
Does rhulk care?
I mean yeah and that shouldnt cause an issue tbh
I might just need to change it out
That sucks Iâve had this charger for awhile
well Rhulk does because he thinks the Witness cares about him
Thatâs kind of sad
Justice for rhulk đ„
Def def
nah, mans is a psychopath
I see some daddy issues tbh
U said he cares about his disiples
Sounds chill to me
Same
no, I said the Witness doesn't care abotu them
When I asked if rhulk cared i meant did rhulk actually care about his disciples
Or see them like pawns
Like the witness
no cuz like also calus, "witness i failed you" voice line or smfh
it is implied he elevated Nezarec to one though
but I think Rhulk has a similar attitude towards his own servants
Sure but that's like a Knight knighting a... Knight.
mhmm
anyways imma go check the d2 clan lists or smth
Why would anyone serve the witness in the first place
He doesnât seem like the most stable dude
the Witness is as I said very manipulative
and the people the Witness recruits aren't the most mentally sound people
like Rhulk who skinned a family pet when he was a kid and later wiped out his entire species
keep in mind the Witness didn't even do much to coerce Rhulk at that point
sure it gave him the power he needed to do that stuff, but it wasn't until after the deed was done that the Witness started gaslighting him into thinking it was a good thing
then there's Calus who is a massive hedonist
not to mention everything else he did
and all the Witness did to coerce him pre-scorn experiments was show him everything dying out in the future
and then we have Nezarec
don't even need to say anything, just take a good look at him
Whatâs wrong with Nezarec âčïž
that sums up nezarec perfectly
The followers of the Witness are the same kind of people who fall into nihilistic pessimism and justify stupid behavior by the meaninglessness of existence; the Witnessâ cause and itâs message of âWeâre gonna set things as they should be!â draws in sycophantic individuals who feel like the universe is against them, that itâs cruel against them and that it needs to be corrected
Tortures people to an extreme extent for no apparent reason; a Titan was tormented by Nezarecâs whispers and I believe he gouged his eyes out due to the insanity induced by Nezarec
Oh huh I thought that message replied to the other fella
ohh
Got it
Thatâs why heâs so hard in the game to kill
bro destiny lore is so confusing
I watched a 3 hour vid
And still donât get some stuff
Like wtf is a siva
It's a nanite colony designed to assist with the creation of colonies.
It was hacked and repurposed for aggressive uses.
Hi all. Iâm currently living in Scotland play all the time. Farming especially looking for a clan. I play on pc. Name is Paper-Trail08
You might want to use a different channel. This is for lore - discussing the universe and story of the game.
Is it like a part of Warmkmd?
Warmind
Like did it originally come from warmind or smth
SIVA was created by Wilhelmina (Willa) Bray. Its primary function was intended to be a colony construction tool, and indeed, it did help the Exodus Indigo create Neomuna.
During the Dark Age, Rasputin used it to lure in Iron Lord Felwinter and kill him - a whole different story. Unfortunately, this event at Site 6 known as the Ironsbane was the doom for nearly every Iron Lord. Only Lady Efrideet and Lord Saladin survived.
Later, during D1, the Devil Splicers - a wild offshoot of House Devils - found and hacked SIVA and used it to augment themselves, leading to the Rise of Iron expansion. This was a mess, as they could not control it very well.
Oh
That makes it so clear
Thanks
Well Iâm kinda sad that d2 is coming to an end
After the witness
It uh, isn't.
Thereâs no more story
Final Shape isn't the end of the game.
It's just the end of this longstanding saga of the story.
What can happen after the final shape
We already have 3 Episodes lined up after the campaign
Itâs just gonna be peace and happiness
whaaaattt
How do we know that
We have an Episode regarding Fikrul and the Scorn, one regarding the... probably the Sol Divisive Vex and the 227 and/or Praedyth, and a third one about the Hive - probably Xivu Arath, I'd guess.
third one could be more related to the Hidden Swarm (what's left of them at least)
Well thatâs all about past characters
Also possible
I meant
the Zulmak stuff never really got resolved
That's the entire point of Final Shape
Closing off this saga so that they can make new story
And not just follow on this one ongoing tale
I can only say the same thing so many times rito
Literally nothing suggests this
It always does that
Lows, highs, lows again
It's over ten years old
And it's on an up again with Final Shape
Canât imagine how weâre gonna beat the witness tho
We're literally inside the Traveler. There will be more Light here than ever before. That may help.
But the traveler is not what it used to be
Itâs weak
Weakened
I feel the darkness is much stronger
Also true
But we can use the Darkness now, too
Yeah thatâs true tho
Darkness is pretty strong, thatâs literally how we beat Calus in Lightfall. The whole point of Prismatic is that we are the first to ever wield Light and Dark together simultaneously
What Iâm guessing will happen is the campaign will have us cut the witness off from creating the final shape which will leave it vulnerable and we can then have a opportunity to kill it
The raid will be crazy
I hope so
Same
Root was kinda disappointing to me
I like RoN
Lore wise itâs sick asf itâs just too easy
I do as well
Yeah
I agree
Nezarec was a cool mf
The lore is very nice
The location is super cool too
Iâd like to get the raid titles done soon
What was the title I forgot
Dream Warrior
Thatâs fire đ„
I still think that VotD is the best raid in the game
Wait how do we know that, I don't see it in titles
TWID
When April 30 arrives, we hope you have trained and prepared yourselves, Guardians. Shaxx will have the quest you'll need to start your journey to become a Godslayer. Yeah, that's the title waiting for the champions that conquer Pantheon.
Rad
We seriously ought to pin this
What's Pantheon?
Raid boss gauntlet mode
Oh
Is Onslaught permanent? Because it doesn't seem to say anything about being temporary-
Itâs atheon but heâs wearing pants
For future reference, these are all questions better served in #âdestiny-questions and not the lore channel
I mean
You can't just give up in your main product
Even if Marathon is a success Bungie really can't take an actual break of Destiny in the near future
Is nokris still alive? was looking over the lore for the Whisper mission and was thinking about the Heresy episode...what if it's related to necromancy? That's considered heretical to the Hive as it goes against the philosophy of the sword logic, and also relates to the attempts by the Hidden Swarm to revive Zulmak. If not nokris, who else knows necromancy?
Who's 227?
wait is the cabal dude in the hall of champions the first like, regular dude from caiatls ascendancy and not one of her ascendant guard we've seen so far?
like seen in person
I also think is more possible for it to be related to hidden swarm but, there's really something to do?
Like yeah never really got solved but we stopped the ritual
well the Hidden Swarm do just keep on raising him back from the dead
the 227 vex simulated copies of Maya Sundaresh and her team
hence the ishtar logo at the end of starcrossed
no
he used his death and an offering from Xolâs corpse as a means of gaining entry to the ascendant plane, leading him to meet and strike a deal with Savathun
he then later died in Arrivals because Savathun sent him to block our access to the Io pyramid
but she got the secrets of his necromancy out of the deal, which explains half of the deal of GotD
also some seasonal dialogue from seraph mentions it but it doesnât really matter
if you ask me, the episode would probably be related to the hidden swarm or maybe even Xivu
Can exo reproduce naturally without deep stone crypt?
Aside from Atraks-1, no new Exos have been made since the Golden Age
And we pretty much blow up the Crypt
I have two questions one spoiler and one not
||what are the names of the dread||
And how did orxy talk to the worm gods
They said the names in the reveal
||grim, husk, weaver, attendant||
To the second point, he just talked to them
In fact when Crota opens up that tear in Oryxâs Throneworld, one of them straight up goes to Oryx and tells him to pull his court back into line, like itâs a tense moment in a sitcom
Since we spoiling the names, have the image too
Is the lament considered chainsaw since it revs up?
stasis enemies...freeze spam time
Chainsword
someone tell me a joke revolving around a fairly unknown lore fact
Banshee lost the competition
I donât get it
||Ah yes, they all sound cool or creepy, and then there's Attendant||
Yeah. Echo-2625
Speaking of them
Are they still alive?
Or can we see them In game atleast?
ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Who or what is being referenced in the lore tab of conditional finality? It seems to be savathûn confronting nezarec, or rhulk. But it also seems to reference strand, which only the guardian can use?
I am confused
Nezarec being betrayed by Savathun; Hive magic is similarly green and is referred to as magical, whilst Strand has not exactly been
There's also this bit
if the scorn and taken now work for the witness, why are they fighting eachother still in the dreaming city?
Not all the Scorn or Taken are bent to the Witness' will
For example, the Witness' Scorn have the darker/purple helmets whilst Fikrul and his band of Scorn have the lighter Yellow helmets
Taken are also wandering about until a strong will such as the Witness, Xivu Arath, or the Ahamkara spirit in Warlord's Ruin exert their wills onto them
ah alright
Is fikrul not working for the witness?
nope, hes been on the run doing his own thing after escapping the shore
ah alright
What are the Scorn?
Eliksni zombies
Fikrul was dying somewhere on the Tangled Shore, Uldren sometime after crash landing from the Dreadnaught weapon I believe came upon Fikrul and wished that he could save that poor Eliksni from dying. Riven heard, took some of the Darkness from the Black Garden that was fucking around with Uldren's head and imbued it into Fikrul.
From there, more Scorn were made from Eliksni corpses, reanimated by Dark Ether, which is exactly what it sounds like
What is the Black Garden?
A part of the Vex Network, I believe there are some descriptions which designate it as the originating location of the Vex (I'm more inclined to believe it's a close simulation of the original Garden they came using the gathered paracausal energy they had on hand as well as the gifted Black Heart from the Witness) The conclusion of the D1 vanilla campaign ends with us invading the Black Garden, destroying the Black Heart
Previous to our excursion, Uldren and his friend Jolyon had scouted the Black Garden out on Mara's orders, the consequences of which were Uldren's partial corruption from exposure to the Black Heart as well as just the Black Garden in general
This was also back in a time where Darkness was a corruptive force, which was due to the Witness exerting its will through the Darkness - you could say it was a Voice in the Darkness
damn that is one way to explain something i guess ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
My explanation is lacking but it is gathered from others explanation and description of the location
If you need an explanation for the Black Heart, all we knew was that it was a paracausal artifact of Darkness that the Vex were harvesting paracausality from, by simulating beings to worship it, though I think (aside from cool factor) they also had to physically position themselves in a position of worship for more effective results
As of Lightfall, we've learned that it was a failed copy of the Veil, to which the Witness gifted to the Vex
There's any explanation why there are different shells
I know Drifter Ghost was upgraded but the other one, they were upgraded too, is a aesthetic element or they are just like that?
Cosmetics
People craft them, ghosts can wear them
Technically the only non-interchangeable thing about them is the little core ball in the center, as that houses their sentience or smth like that
Oh
Time to make a Swiss Army Knife Ghost Shell
We have Siochain's Shell, with the buzzsaws
But that's just knife
Oh wait wrong one
But I'm curious, I don't know Crow's Ghost but I saw it has the aspect of a Forsaken shell
From where did they got it?

How developed is the last city
Also yes Glint used to be called Pulled Pork
Like in terms of saftey and standards of living
Fairly advanced, just look at how big it is
?
Safety is the Vanguard
They have ramen shops and cuisine fusion stores for a burrito with kim chi to exist, Guardians can have their own apartment, interstellar travel through space ships is fairly common, there's the essentially standing army of Guardians, as well as the literal standing army of Forces of the Last City, the foundries are still producing weapons and ships, there's the bulwurk of Caital's Cabal Empire and House Light as well
And another question when Uldren resurrected? Like in which season that cutscene appeared
Or was just there in Forsaken

Do the vanguard run the city?
There was the Consensus, basically a senate or parliament of non-Lightbearers as well as the Vanguard, with the Speaker as head. As of late, there has been no new Speaker nor are any of the non-Lightbearer factions present in the Last City anymore as 1) Future War Cult's leader Lakshmi-2 went paranoid under the Endless Night in Season of the Splicer and tried to genocide the refuge House Light because the Vex prediction engine thing she had said they would cause unnecessary conflict within the City - the irony being that she was the one who brought the Vex into the Last City through the stupid prediction engine, dying as the vex came out of the portal; 2) New Monarchy and Dead Orbit had rallied behind FWC and they essentially were merged, but all members either scattered or joined Dead Orbit's escaping colony ship stocked with all their resources, booting it off of Earth
So really the only remaining structure of government in the Last City is the Vanguard, with Zavala taking up the Speaker's position in charge of the Last City alongside his duties as Vanguard head, coordinating Guardian efforts across the system
That doesnât seem very democratic
Also why donât they just have a new speaker
Speaker needs to hear what the Traveler's saying in order to be a Speaker for it
It's not and it's extremely stressful for Zavala as it is readily apparent that he is holding all the government power within the Last City, which was what the Consensus was supposed to prevent
Is it a trained ability or ur just born with it
That canât be very efficient either
it randomly happens, and even then she just appears some various individuals through their dreams only on rare occasions
He has to handle both the military and civilian sides of everything
So have there been long stretches of time with no speaker before?
Well they should have had better political parties other than
- Paranoid Doomsday Seers (Future War Cult)
- Autocrats. just straight up Autocrats (New Monarchy)
- Nihilistic edgy emos who want to ditch Earth (Dead Orbit)
- Guardian supremacy group (Concordat; exiled sometime after the initial formation of the Consensus, FWC took their place)
It was during Forsaken, not Arrivals
How would they agree on anything
That Speaker has been around since the founding of the Last City, Hally Bo could probably fact check that
Like a parliament/Senate
Oh so itâs the same guy
The whole time
coughrepublicanvsdemocratcough
I thought it was like a position
It was a position, one carried over from the Golden Age
And look how thatâs going
My point exactly
So there were speakers in the golden age?

Like the latest one
He seems like he would be a cool character

DESTINY 2 CONTENT IS COMING BACK
Your ears are in danger.
I haven't made a meme in so long I can't believe this is what I've created. Hope you're all enjoying destiny 2, because I am!
There's another scene where the Speaker admits that he speaks for the Traveler, it doesn't speak to him; but I believe there's some loretabs/grimoire which point to him having experienced visions in his dreams given by the Traveler
He sounds like saint Germain from castlevania
So is he an accurate source of info on the travelers will?
Apparently Prismatic is available from the very first mission of The Final Shape
I was gonna rag on Destinypedia for being a disappointment once more but they in-fact have a separate page for previous holders of the Speaker title, alongside a single page for the Speaker
Like would a redirect at the top be that much harder, every other good wiki has that
https://www.destinypedia.com/Speaker_(title)
https://www.destinypedia.com/Speaker
Speaker is a title held by numerous individuals, most notably The Speaker. They are individuals who could hear the Traveller during the Golden Age and spread the teachings of the Light, but after the Collapse their numbers dwindled and their connection to the Traveller was damaged.
The Speaker was the head of the Consensus within the Last City; He was very old, having lived as far back as the earliest days of the City. He apparently acted as an advisor and mentor to the Guardians, even referring to the Titan Saint-14 as his son.
The Speaker at one time also had an apprentice, Osiris, but in the end they became bitter riva...
I would like to thank this tumblr blog for once again helping me find shit on lore that destinypedia keeps fucking up

https://thefirstknife.tumblr.com/post/640882884897636352/speaker-crow
Besides that, I think thereâs a general wave of misinformation when it comes to what the role of the Speaker really is and how it functions.Â
Just receiving dreams from the Traveler does not make one...
Thereâs actually been a lot of discourse on this ever since Crow showed up.Â
This is my most recent post about it and the general misinformation about the role of a Speaker.Â
Something I didnât touch...
Also fitting that they cite the same lorebook Destinypedia is pulling from; I would recommend reading this after reading all the above (which isn't really too much)
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-constellations
What primordial prize? What betrayal? Huh? Wha?
The Veil
And Savathun killed Nezarec
His corpse then was discovered by Eliksni, carved up and worn as relics of power which did genuinely boost their wielders.
Misraaks inherited one from his mom, fell into the same sort of berserker rage as she had when he used it; it frightened him, so he stopped wearing it, sealing it in little reliquaries like some of the other ones had (which we see in Plunder)
Back to this, the Witness had the Veil before it started pursuing the Traveler, it just needed to get her in order to create that connection between her and the Veil to open that portal, but as the loretab vaguely describes from the perspective of Nezarec, Savathun betrayed the Witness by stealing the Veil away and then subsequently hiding it on Neptune, seeing as Savathun was smart enough to see through the Witness' bullshit and recognizing that its plan would lead to the end of life as we know it, either literally, metaphorically, or both
How does Teselation match your subclass?
The damage matches your subclass.
Again, #âdestiny-questions
There was that elemental capacitor perk, where you get certain buffs depending on what subclass is being run? Probably a similar line of code checking the Player's selected subclass and then modifying its properties based on that
I want the lore explanation
It hasn't really been given one.
Delicate tomb - should be void since nezarec uses void attacks
Mmmmm it's his 4th tomb
Says so in the loretab

Yeeeaah⊠what are you implying?
But also no that doesn't necessarily mean it should be Void, Nezarec supposedly had expert control over Light and Darkness, so realistically he could use any element for the exotic
I mean
Not at that time
He has multiple tombs. He's died multiple times, yet seemingly comes back from the brink. He might be functionally an immortal incorporeal being.
Yes, but who's to say that it's not a persistent skill in between his deaths? No one, but neither is there really anything supporting this either considering the lack of elaboration to who or what Nezarec actually is
That doesn't mean jack, save for the fact he's really good at tormenting people
What we do know is that there is a strong relationship with Void. Delicate Tomb is also a gun and may be supplying the Arc itself.
Maybe all his Arc skills are stuck in Delicate Tomb, with what remains are inside it
He owns the title but I can assure Rhulks leg hurt more
I just realized Teselation's white and black parts represent Light and Darkness, and the crystals are in the colors of all subclasses, including Prismatic
What is this creature on different items in eververse?
what items specifically
On a sparrow, and I believe on two ships
Canât check names atm
well this sparrow is specifically a reference to a formula one car, so maybe it is related to that
That wouldnât explain the ship as it didnât look anything like the sparrow
@trim grotto is this funky lil guy in your symbol archive?
Yeah but he's in a lot of places
He's been around since D1
Haven't pinned a specific meaning to him yet
Hes the final shape (real)
Damn
That sucks not knowing what it actually is
Can ghosts mentally communicate with their guardians? I have never read a lore tab where thatâs happened; all the communication between ghost and guardian has been in dialogue, but I have read several fanworks where they talk in each others minds.
I know at least the killcam is canon
yeah
For those inside the building, it was like the world was ending.
But her Ghost was free, heading straight for the front car of the train that had impaled the upper floor of the warehouse. A pair of injured Shadows, the only survivors, were right behind her as she came up to Aunor's slumped body, her eye blazing with Light.```
Huh. Case by case basis? Felwinter and Drifter didnât see anything during their deaths or at least it wasnât described, and in the Saladin lorebook when he fell from the tree, he didnât see anything. Unconsciousness or willful choice of Saladin/Isirah?
probably something you have to learn
Yeah that sounds right
Fel and Saladin were warriors and Drifter is Drifter, while Aunor worked in intelligence. Sheâd probably know more weird light tricks like that
Drifter wouldn't trust his ghost enough to work on that
Gotta do some research!
reminds me of the Wales flag
but it also loosely resembles the creature seen on a lot of Europa gear
The Krispy Kreme armour
Sjur Eido was the romantic partner of Queen Mara Sov. She was a powerful Awoken warrior, and the wielder of the true Wishender bow.

hally is here?

I believe via the bot which DMs you or some such
Apart from that
I mean if an entire weapon is able to be themed after what seems to be an anime series running in the time of the Last Cityâs existence, itâs likely thereâs others as well
isnt there like an entire foundry that caters to the anime enjoyers amongst the lightbearers
Daito
There's a what?!?
Give me the anime weapons
Better look into Daito gear then
Daito armour from Prophesy, guns like Jade Rabbit and Two Tailed Fox...
Jade Rabbit too???
Yes, that's Daito.
Who is Concordat?
Thereâs still anime?
An ex-faction of the Consensus who tried to stage a coup and got exiled from the Last City.
The Consensus?
d2cord reference
The ruling body of the Last City. For a long time, it was comprised of the Vanguard, the Speaker, New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult.
You may notice that all of these are dead or gone, including 1/3rd of the Vanguard.

exos are immune to all forms of poison i believe yes
