Ah
So his corpse magically manifested into a sniper rifle?
How did he turn into the gun?
Ah, gotcha
Ngl that feels a little non-consensual
I think he manifested himself into it so we can use him to feed himself
I thought he was dead
yes he was
And then
then he stopped giving a shit that he was dead
Dang
in all seriousness, Worm Gods tend to not really be dead that easily
So why hasnât the vanguard or anyone like Eris wanted to destroy Whisper
even after Oryx killed Akka and cut him apart, he had to fight his "swarming corpse" later on
Since itâs literally Xol
Ah
eh, he's not really hurting us
And we donât fear he might?
kind of like how Ahamkara don't really "die"
Idk, he can turn himself back to normal maybe?
Idk the limit of his power
Logic is that if he can turn himself into something, he can turn himself back
he pretty much told Nokris to go fuck himself
So we have a pet gun.
hmmm
Poor Nokris
you know, I'm also pretty sure we didn't even know it was really Xol
So the guardians picked up a taken sniper rifle, and didnât question a thing?
Nokris did pretend that he was attempting to ressurect him just so we can wipe out his brood
not the first time, remember Black Spindle?
If thatâs from D1, then no.
If itâs from D2, then still no
and he did this so he can get to the Ascendant Plane which was where he met Savathun
But going forward I donât know the lore of any D1 specific things
yeah, it's D1
What did Savathun do?
in fact, Whisper of the Worm was based on Black Spindle which itself was based on Black Hammer (the Crota's End sniper rifle)
Ah
she made a deal with Nokris
Iâm keeping the head canon that we know Xol is in our gun, and we have a pet worm.
Which did
basically the deal was this:
Nokris would work for Savathun by interfering with the messages the Pyramids were trying to send us (this was back in Season of Arrivals [aka last season before Beyond Light released])
In return, Nokris would be allowed access to Quria, Savathun's pet half-taken Vex Hydra, so he could learn his secrets while Savathun would get to learn necromancy from Nokris
wouldn't be the only one now
Yes and yes
Should âguardianâ be capitalised?
i would say it depends on if you are refering to the player as Guardian or just guardians in general
given the player has it as a name/title but in general its just a group
again id say if about the player then yes
I have a question. In the lore. What class is the closest to a normal dude?
None
Theyâre light-wielding superhuman god-killers
If you had to pick one it would hunter
Cos they just kinda dodge and throw physical knives
But they still have a whole bunch of light stuff
I guess that is more normal than a flaming hammer. Snapping fingers to make fire. Etc
I know about the main seasonal story and some of Warlords Ruin, Starcrossed I played once but it was all a while ago
how does nezarc know so much bout us in ron
I suppose Hunter, then.
they still make flaming knives and gravitational bows out of nothing
Is Prismatic how guardians are in lore? If so, what difference does it make lorewise?
majority of guardians only ever effectively use one subclass
also I havenât watched anything on the announced FS stuff and all I know is hearsay so I couldnât tell you
I doubt weâre going to have substantial answers until it actually comes out
Basically
Its us wielding both light and dark perfectly balanced
I know the general concept but I didnât watch any developer commentary on it or whatever
There isnât too much you need to know
Theres only like one new mechanic otherwise the entire subclass is just a build it yourself thing
Thanos approves
Considering it is a power we get from the Final Shape, the unique property of Prismatic is that it allows seamless utilization of cross subclass elements without having to fully shift into the subclass themselves
Strand grapple grenade with Arc Titan Super is gonna go wild
are we gonna have to own that subclass
Well, yeah
You canât use it if you donât have it
Oh wait, do you mean for Stasis and Strand individually, not Prismatic in general?
yeah
Then no
Anyone notice the taken have the resonance on their heads
Where?
Would golden age humanity be better at fighting off non paracausal threats like the fallen/cabal/ than the current vanguard and guardians
Probably if allowed to mobilise
But their military prowess was poor because why would you make a military during a time of global peace
so eris is a hunter
Didnât they have Rasputin
M, true
But uh
He can't handle the small troups
Troops*
Hell decimate a country
Wym
He doesnt have much small arms
He can probably annihilate several moons
Canât he just nuke their main ships
And anything of size
Sure but the small ones?
What are the small ones gonna do without the big ones
And if they make it to planets?
Overwhelm the population without a military force at all
Did we not have a military
Why would we need any
We're not at war, nor conflict
With anyone
The vex were a exception
But we're under controll
Were
He has an arsenal of combat frames, doesnât he? In fairness the Cabal might be able to overwhelm them but like. Thereâs some big âuns he could control
Last I checked those were very few, not to mention unable to do shitfuck
P sure they were ment against vex
Which at the time was small and controlled
Heavy Frames are a class of Frames created by the Warmind Rasputin. Their main purpose is to protect key assets of Rasputin and to provide heavy support for the Seraph Towers, Seraph Bunkers and Legendary Lost Sectors. There are two variants, one with yellow highlights simply titled "Heavy Frame", and a more powerful red-highlighted one sporting...
Oh
Huh
Probably not able to fight a whole ass war but
They'd at least put up a good fight
Is it possible to sort by activity on Ishtar Collective? I wanna read all the lore from the Trials gear in chronological order, but I donât know how to just âdisplay only Trials gearâ
We should still have a standing military
Not after several hundred years of zero conflict.
He had the smaller conventional provide firepower and then these were supports apparently; though I wonât lie but I wasnât playing during the time these were around
Two years of global peace justifies a military
Two hundred makes the very idea of a military fucking ridiculous
So why did we have Rasputin if we thought there would be no more war
Clovis bray
Need I explain further
There might be a Trials tag to sort that out, I can direct you to the Ishtar discord if that also seems like itâd help
Yeah
They didn't learn from Gman
Clovis is a psychotic power hungry madman who's also really goddamn smart
If we had Rasputin who had the capacity to nuke planets
And we spent all that money
We should also have a standing military
To cover our bases
He planned to use rasputin to upload himself to rasputin eventually
Otherwise itâs a waste of money
And become some form of God ruling over humanity
wtf
Probably the main point of the exo program was for him to essentially be a universal ancestor to all of humanity
Thx Iâll try that and see if it works
Clovis bray was a rat bastard
Also rasputin wasn't some government thing
It was a private company?
Considering the amount of firepower that Rasputin held, being able to eradicate any large gathering of military power that wouldâve threatened world peace and smaller targeted attacks like bombings and whatnot wouldâve been taken care of domestic police forces, it seems unnecessary for any nation to have a military force; heck, we had barely any contact with alien species save for the Vex, and by then they hadnât been prolific enough to actually be a present danger in the system, they had only started flooding into the system about the time the Collapse had gone underway, the Vex-Exo war taking place in that time I believe
Clovis bray ran his own science thingabob
Technically one of Clovisâ projects, but it was mainly delegated to Ana for man development
His children and stuff made these cool things
So would u say we would lose to the cabal
Or the fallen
We could probably take on the Fallen and maybe hold off the Cabal for a bit
We're fucked against the hive
Did we still have the capacity to make guns and small arms
Everyone was
Pretty sure the Vex-Exo War happened before the Collapse
Yes and no
Unchecked Lightbearers were the scourge of the Dark Age
We're talking golden age here
Yes the foundries still make new weapons
Golden age
It was in close proximity, wasnât it?
Much of those foundations continue today
Shouldnât we have been warned by the fact there was other intelligent life
That there could be hostile intelligent life
We barely knew there were
We hadn't begun exploring outside our own solar system yet
That's basically why the Black Armory was founded
Hello friends
Isnât that the yt dude
Mael is a lore dude and sounds like byf
I still think a formal standing army is a bad idea
Mael = byf confirmed
He's the lore dude kf the server
Why would it be a bad idea
Imagine if all conflict ended, and stopped for three hundred years, would you consider military to be justifiable
Thatâs really rude to Dovadah smh
There can be multiple the lore dudes
Hmm
Rasputin was Humanity's answer to the possibility of hostile life from outside Sol
The Warmind, an incredibly powerful AI developed to predict and protect us from potential extrasolar threats.
If the Collapse was a causal threat, he may have successfully protected us.
Thatâs what my question was
Would golden age humanity win against the cabal
And the fallen
Ukelele was saying our lack of standard military would prevent us being able to fight back successfully
We cannot say for sure of course but there's a very strong possibility
The Eliksni were, even then, scattered and disorganised. We'd have won against them, I'd wager.
The Cabal are a militaristic warmongering species. Couldn't say for sure, as war is their specialty. They've won many fights before encounting us.
Not necessarily but close enough
It was a rough summary
I'm saying that rasputin wouldn't be able to handle if, let's say cabal land in New york
What's he gonna do, nuke new York?
I donât know how moral Rasputin is
To be honest they probably wouldn't make it to New York
Anywho I'm going again now
True, I suppose
He exists to protect humanity unless he logically cannot
At which point his own security is placed in priority
This happened during the Collapse
Heâs programmed with morality but under certain circumstances can undergo a moral shift in order to take actions that may result in casualties in order for the greater good of humanity
I mean if a threat is small enough that Rasputin canât deal with it
Or as Mael just said, prioritise his own survival for the long term benefit of humanity
A bunch of humans with guns can handle it
As long as guns still exist
They can still fight back to an extent
The creation of polaris lance at all was questionable to the golden age folks because it was a weapon
Presumably some vintage ones exist but
But there are guns
Then thatâs handled
The golden age lasted a long time
Granted we have a better understanding of how to handle rogue Lightbearers, I think the example of Shayura is one that should temper any expectations of the dogmatic elements of the Lightbearers reconciling with the more, for lack of a better word, liberal Guardians using the powers we found through experience and experimenting with Darkness.
Plus isnât there the black armory
What
What are u talking about
No, forges were plundered during the withdrawal of Arrivals
Shayura
This is about the golden age
GOLDEN AGE
this is a theoretical situation
With no pyramid ships
Peak golden age
The cabal or fallen attack
I'm dumb ignore me
Would it help
No
Probably not
Is it like pacisfist
It was rather sudden it decided to help at all during the collapse
It's several things
She's very pro free will hence her inactions
She thinks direct interference should be avoided as much as possible
She's also scared of the witness using the veil with her
But
That doesn't apply here actually
So she would just stand there and let humanity die
Probably yeah.
Ok so no help from the travler
She loves who she blesses, but doesn't wish to interfere
Yes
I still feel like Rasputin has it in the bag
Just ask the fallen
Oh fallen 100% don't make it
They could have their own powerful artillery
Not the kind that could glass a planet a thousand times over
So in terms of long range And where destructive power
We win
I also feel
That that would act as a deterrent
Rasputin main advantage is range and sheer mass destruction
Not against the canal
Like a army wouldnât want to get nuked to hell
Canal
Nor hive
Canel
But like
Really
Ppl donât attack nuclear armed countries for a reason
They donât wanna get nuked
Same with Rasputin
At peak golden age? Rasputin would probably have been decent at dealing with the Eliksni. But the Cabal had The Almighty.
The cabal would see it as a challenge
Whatâs that
đ
Red war moment
The flagship they use among other things to annihilate the solar system
Would it beat Rasputin
When they win, they stripmine for resources and stuff then detonate their fucking sun
Cabal super weapon
Eats planets, forces stars to go supernova and scorch systems
Holy shit
The cabal are probably the greatest causal military force we've ever seen
It was parked next to Mercury and was breaking the planet up and preparing to fire. The Guardian managed to shut it down during the Red War after they got their Light back.
Well does it have good defenses?
Not against a single guardian, too small
I mean like Rasputin
Thatâs all golden age had
Apparently
Not to mention a guardian notorious for fighting so dirty it killed a fucking god
Ah
Uh
I'm unsure who wins the range contest
Whenever wins the range contest wins I'd argue
Considering he uh
Yknow
Doesnât Rasputin have sub minds too
Blew up the almighty
So like if u take one out
Yea
So Rasputin did blow it up
After the Guardians helped build up his stockpile of weapons.
A psion was pissed at The Guardian for killing their sisters and set it on a collision course with The City
So rasputin has the capacity to take it out
But itâs a game of who takes out who first
That was after a concerted effort and it was not doing what it was designed to do. This was some time after The Guardian disabled the part that could blow up the Sun.
Wym not what it was designed to do
At the time Rasputin blew it up, it was set on a collision course with Earth. Specifically the Last City
Destiny 2 just hosted its first live event. These are my thoughts as well as a timelapse of the whole event unfolding! The Almighty being destroyed was definitely cool but it could've been much better.

Iâm still talking in the hypothetical situation of cabal attacking golden age humanity
So this is Rasputin who doesnât need any help getting weapons
And the almighty is on the edge of the system ig
That's the rub.
We don't know if Rasputin HAD the capacity to deal with it when it was in orbit around the Sun
So did the guardian disable some defenses or something
When it went on board
The Guardian shut down a bunch of stuff.
I think the Cabal would have just blown the Sun and moved on
If they tried invading and ran into Rasputin during the peak Golden Age
I'd heartily wager that Big Red could easily destroy the Almighty, in the Golden Age - so long as it had not already tethered itself to the sun, meaning the sun would go supernova without disconnecting it first.
Which is what we did in actual time, and then left it to drift.
Before the Psions set it on a collision course with the Last City of course
Very rude of them
someone has to teach them some manners!
Whereâs that emo kid at?
...I'm going to take a reach here and say, do you mean Arach Jalaal?
Or crow?
Donât know that person
Oh god poor crow
Or crow
Who's the emo kid then
If you mean Crow, then do you have Season of the Wish? It answers this question.
If you don't mean Crow
Then I have no idea who you mean
Ives?
Yes
Nice
Ives is dead, though.
Sorry about that
Aw man
Also did you misspell Cryptarch
It's in my name
Oh
Oops
Anyways, did that weekly visit to maras little cliff out in space thing ever happen? I took a break when it was re revealed
Iâm not talking about video game characters đ
Could you elaborate what youâre talking about or maybe just donât derail this channel?
Nah itâs gotta be in game characters
Itâs crow, but he traveled the portal and became a real person
He now assumes the identity of (whoever his voice actor is) and is laying low
Brandon OâNeill
Yes
âBrandon Onionâ has covered his blue skin with a more human pigment, and will no longer use the crack in the wall room as his living quarters
What does this even mean, this is a server dedicated to a video game, and this is a channel dedicated to the lore of said game
yeah thats kinda strange
I mean... you're aware that this is the lore chat, right?
We discuss the lore and characters of the video game.

Just joined today. Just made a profile today.
I'm sensing deja vu
If it's the clown back with a vengence it will be hilarious; if it's just another person entirely this is just an annoyance
Only time will tell
Have I missed something
Nope
Witness methods are intriguing
Bro is confusing us
Like not that long ago, new person joined lorechat, asked someone if they could test their new build, were immediately pissed everyone told them they were in the wrong place, and in being pointed out for selling cheats, proceeded to see that as an opportunity to advertise their cheats. On the same day of joining.
And now thereâs this individual apparently asking about an âemoâ who is ânot a video game characterâ in⌠lorechat of all places. Which is disappointing honestly
Do you guys think its a possibility the Guardian dies in The Final Shape?
Theyâll shrug it off

During the Eulogy back in dawn Saint mentions a final confrontation. Could this be it or am i looking too deep into it?
But in seriousness, if FearofGod is asking about something else aside from Destiny, the place for that would be #âď¸off-topic-discussion and sorry about the hostility if youâre just someone wanting to discuss something else
Weâre so divergent from other timelines that we have no precedent for the situation we are now; Elsie mentions that we have never destroyed the Black Heart before, also noting a couple things with out timeline which she hasnât seen before in her time within the time loops sheâs been stuck in (though she had concerns that some events such as Eris going evil could still come about)
I mean
Definitely no but how that will even work
Canonically we die but we still playing and then there's a new dude on episodes

No
Especially because we know the campaign doesnât end when it launches
We do the raid, then the raid will likely unlock a new mission
Die in the raid, come back after the cutscene
someone with media literacy tell me what the Eris grimoire means
is it Shaxx being emotionally stupid and talking to her or something
Pretty sure it's Toland.
thatâs weird
Talking about being avenged and such
has he considered letting his soul fizzle out so nobody else has to hear him again
No he wouldnât like that
Here's your cat! đą Cat #361.
Here's your cat! đą Cat #361.
the fuck is this
Is... is this a bot?
????
WHO ARE YOU, (also rip grumpy cat, passed away years ago)
Here's your cat! đą Cat #399.
Here's your cat! đą Cat #399.
Oh it is a bot
It brokw
It sees all messages

Everyone sees cats everywhere
Did you try to spam channels or something?
No

Completely unintentional
Felines have broken containment
It killed a ghost of course it did
I just sent 200 cats within 2 minutes across 100 servers
Amazing

My dude understood we would miss him if that happens so he is staying
hmm yes cat lore real
Here's your cat! đą Cat #589.
Okay that's irritating.
Here's your cat! đą Cat #599.
A cat stealing food is actually accurate for me
Here's your cat! đą Cat #605.
(Itâs an interesting command BUT, itâll probably result in a mute at some point)
Clearly
so that was a lie
Here's your cat! đą Cat #812.
Best bot
Was Oryx the strongest hive god
Probably not, savathun had the light for a short while
She still does
For a time. We can't say definitively though.
The Hive siblings often killed one another. Their comparative power... fluxuated.
Yea
/cat
Here's your cat! đą Cat #818.
Lil guy
This did not seem like, a very good way to test your bot, running it through your actual account and risking mod action for not following channel or server rules.
So like how many disciples do we have now?
Calus, Rhulk, Nezarec, mysterious dead Disciple
Whatâs yaâlls theories on how weâre gonna kill the witness
đ
sorry thats me
We find out he's been a good guy all along and gets killed by another big baddie
And that's how the next sagas starts
He gets killed by that cat that killed a ghost đ¤Ż
Yup
Car is now Strongest character canonically
no thats Esoterickk
In my personal but not professional opinion, we shoot the guy.
@fresh zephyr whatâs the status of the bot? Could I put it in my server?
Sorry to ping
Came back to the game after a 4 year (surely that can't be right...) break today. Lots of new stuff to explore, last I remember was doing the Leviathan raid waaaayyy back.
Oof, welcome back and hope you enjoy the journey catching up
We have ice and green strings now
You know
I hope, I really hope
What can be more badass than turning into a gun an entity beyond the concept of god who been travelling and conquering through the galaxy
Entity that at the same time is the union of an entire civilization
Like I would be down to be whisper of the worm fr fr
Question. How much control does the Drifter have on the taken in Gambit and Reckoning?
And can he only summon them inside the Haul or can they be summoned and controlled outside of the Haul
I think it depends
counterfeit Taken I believe he should have good control over (then again, there was the incident with the first Gambit Prime run)
the regular Taken he can summon though his control over them isn't the best
the one he summoned to whack that one Shadow of Yor in his ship tried to attack him
he can summon regular Taken outside of the Haul
for instance he once summoned a bunch of primevals to massacre a Cabal patrol that encountered him
and as mentioned, he summoned a Taken Captain to take out a Shadow of Yor in his own ship
counterfeit Taken he seemed to be able to summon outside of the Haul
given that they appear in Gambit Prime
regular Primevals are just the oldest and meanest Taken Drifter could find
It's said that they weren't something corrupted by darkness but born from the darkness itself, and incredibly ancient, does that mean taken primevals are just like, a naturally occurring thing?
Counterfeit ones are created through the Haul
all we really got on them is that they are really old Taken
That means either that some orimevals are around 1000 or so years old or the eliksni encountered the hive well before the whirlwind
Since there are primeval captains
Or both
This was a portal peering into the vault of glass but it's showing somewhere different.
Is this still the vault? Because i don't remember any place that looks like this.
@trim grotto in Maraâs dialog she says her mother was the moon and her father was the darkness (or something like that) but are they like actual figures or did she just spawn into existence
Awoken
So
Human parents
Sheâs really old so she was likely in the big awoken event thing
I think the moon thing is a figure of speech
Behold! You are not orange thus I cannot trust your word

Literally who are you? How have I never seen you until a few days ago?
I criticised your love of that weird soft drink
Omggg
Sploosh or whatever
Mara Sov was one of the original Awoken.
Back in the Collapse of the Golden Age, the colony ship the Yang Liwei, also known as the Exodus Green, was caught in a blast between Light and Dark. This created a kugelblitz and singularity, which in turn resulted in a pocket dimension.
This was the birth of the Awoken. They reformed into Awoken, living as a mixture of Light and Dark.
A lot of history happened - time flowed differently there - but eventually a splinter faction of these Awoken left this pocket universe (known as the Distributary) and returned to the Sol System. They settled in the Reef, made Mara Sov their queen, and bam. Awoken.
Now, Mara Sov was one of the very original Awoken - in fact, she was the first Awoken. As one of the originals, it was the Light and Dark that remade her - but she was human once, and she had human parents.
Wha- itâs called Squirt and itâs apart of the kyra lore
as for the quote itself
"I AM MARA SOV. STARLIGHT WAS MY MOTHER, AND MY FATHER WAS THE DARK."
mara's just being dramatic
Behold! He has spoken
@willow dagger I WAS RIGHT
Thatâs it
I guess thatâs why I love her so much
@trim grotto why are you stimky?
Real
That and my affinity for space/time
HALLY BO
Hally who?
I will say that this is not a thorough history, nor thorough explanation. She was the one who led the splinter faction, she's the one who set about their civil war, and it was she who fashioned the Awoken into who they are and is why they're not immortal.
Kyra I was right acknowledge me
The Marasenna is something I heartily recommend reading for history
So sheâll die someday?
Huh?
The Awoken, ever since leaving the Distributary, age. They didn't inside, but they do now.
However, they age very... slowly. They've been around for centuries, since the early Dark Ages. Many generations of humans have passed, and Mara still looks like that.
In his hall of heroes flavour text it says heâs a husband
Obvs of Mara
Goals tbh
No
"'Til death do us part." âLord Shaxx
â
In the courtyard of the Tower, Lord Shaxx stares out at the Last City. He puts his foot up on the railing and sighs.
Arcite 99-40 knows Shaxx's moods, because they are his own moods. He sidles up to Shaxx and follows his gaze to the horizon.
"What's on your mind, boss?" he asks with the friendly rhythm of a...
Not even in the slightest
Shaxx and Mara have never been together
Ok
They shared one night which consisted of them talking about Sjur Eido
Mael send the tab
Reminiscing about their memories of her
Mara is a queen literally and figuratively, she doesnât need him
And he recited the tempest
Yeah
That doesnât make them married lmao
i got this
I wish I had The Vow, I wanna be married to Shaxx đ
sjur eido! the woman i named a tempest!
i told her stories of my friendship with sjur eido and her great bow. mara told me of the lost distributary, and of eido's quest to assassinate her in revenge for the diasyrm, i challenged the obvious lies in this storyâthe sjur eido I knew, dragon slayer whose arrows pierced illusion, would never have hesitated to kill, no matter how beautiful her target! and how could sjur, who shrugged off talk of gods as nothing of her concern, have also been a fanatical servant of this diasyrm, who cared only for lost divinity? inconsistent! and therefore a lie!
mara was delighted by my disbelief, she told me that she would tell me the truth about sjur if i would only take off my helmet, so she could look into the eyes that had gazed so often on her beloved.
did you know that pothos is another name for asphodelia, the white flower of the awoken? white flower of longing.```
This is the truth behind your "The Helmet stayed on" tab
Whoâs shaxx married to canonically?
Everyone who earned The Vow, and also nobody if you ignore The Vow
Polyamory then
Read the Vow tab I sent above
In the meantime
I am going to go shower
So Hally was right
I KNEW IT
Hally was indeed right
Sigma
Just for the record, it is a good soda
Ok then

Because of this, you now have to learn why I am stimky
Because of getting a flu shot, I spent all last night with symptoms - including shivering and freezing but also sweating the entire night. I woke up in the morning damp. I did not have time to shower before work, and after work, I had to move furniture and a fridge.
This has resulted in: Stimky Mael
Hope you get better buddy đđ
I read the vow tab, who did he marry? Arcite?
I canât tell
The Vow was a bow earned by any Guardian who participated in the Crimson Days 2v2 PvP event to a high enough degree
It was an old, now removed, valentines event
Context
eugh
been marinating all day
Juicy
Maelâs being pickled
CURSED
Someone saw a weird white flying thing and got scared
Didn't know what a dove was
Wait wait wait wait WAIT-
You mean to tell me that Awoken are just zombies with a good skincare routine?!?!
@trim grotto
Guardians are just zombies with no need for a skincare routine
Or sleep or food, for that matter
Awoken just live for a long time
⌠Itâs been ruined! Destiny is just an aesthetic zombie game
Yes
This is why I donât think, bad things happen
Ugh! How am I supposed to sleep now?! What if I think again and ruin another thing?!
Mara is a zombie queen omg
I do not mean to tell you that
Nothing about them is zombie-esque

Iâm so confused
Alright alright just
Let me finish up, one moment
I... don't...
She isn't green though
Wdym
She's a pale grey with a dash of blue
Send a pic then
Like many Awoken
Omg
I am too
She still looks a little green
hm
yes
green
Wha
She looks human there! In game she looks glowy and green!
Whatever you do do not switch this topic to savathun or Elsie bray
Her hair doesnât even look blonde in game
There is nothing about her who is zombiesque
I dont get why recent cutscenes like the Lightfall intro one and even in the recent Final Shape trailer makes her look really old lmao
She looks noticeably older
not the zombie queen
I think bungie deliberately changed her look for⌠reasons
~waiting for orange to finish typing~
Roleist
anywho, back at computer
so
Awoken are in no way zombie like
The Awoken were originally human. When they were reformed (as Mara directed) by the Light and Dark's collision, they became a version of the beings we know today. Originally, there were a total of 48,091.
These Awoken, inside the Distributary, lived forever - but they could still die.
Third, that the Awoken should multiply in wombs of flesh and machine, but only after the most careful forecast of population and ecology, and only under the supervision of those who knew the good technology; for each new child would be immortal.
The Awoken created a civilisation, had children, generations, spread.
After centuries, when the splinter faction left the Distributary, this splinter faction who became the Awoken we know today discovered their mild latent Paracausality, yet also that they now aged, albeit slowly.
"Tell me more." Mara poured her a snifter of icy cometary water. "What does magic mean?"
"Some sort of weak acausality." Kelda lowered her flowerbulb build into a hammock of tangled plastic. "They've been firing encoded neutrino beams through volunteers, and it looks as if the resulting patterns of scatter depend on the cognitive and emotional state of the target. It's a very reliable detection, at least four sigma, but the effect size is terribly small."
Mara digested this with a shot of ancient ice, slushy against her tongue. "Acausality. You mean that whatever's happeningâwhatever influence we have on, say, neutrino beamsâit's not accounted for by physics?"
"Not by any physics we know. At face, it seems to violate some conservation laws, which would make Emmy Noether's head spin." Kelda remembers the names of her ancient physicist heroes even when she cannot tell which way is sunward.
"Secret physics." Mara thought of the Traveler and its works. "We've all felt it, haven't we? We know we'reâŚ" How to say "trapped in the clinch between light and dark," she wondered, without quite so much portent? "We're in contact with certain numinous elements."
Kelda held out her cup for more water. "The question is, your Majestyâ"
"Don't call me that. We're operating on a direct democracy here."
Kelda rolled her eyes. "The question is, do we continue to think of this as science? Do we teach it as physics? Causal closure says that everything that happens in a material system has a material cause. However, if symbolic structures in the mind are triggering material effect⌠shouldn't we call that what it is?"
"Death had no dominion," Mara whispered.
"Pardon?"
"We're in Death's dominion now. We're all dying again. We were immortal in the Distributary, weren't we? Some part of us was⌠attuned to the universe. And now that we're no longer receiving the Distributary's signal, we're attuned to something new."```
bruh
As for her ageing, I will reiterate that she has been ageing since the early Dark Ages, and that she started out from a physical age of 19.
This was centuries ago.
She was 19 when the kugelblitz happened. She was immortal in the Distributary and lived for thousands of years. When she emerged from the Distributary, centuries ago, she began to age, like all Awoken.
Also, Seth Dickinson wrote the Marasenna, which detailed the origin of the Awoken. Not "Bungie".
oooooohhhh ok I feel better. I can sleep now.
Ok
The Ukrainian lady whispers at me once more
Que
Whoâs Ukrainian? What does this mean?
Uldren's always been a bit of a scrapper. Emo doesn't really fit the bill until... unless referring to the Guardians, whom he hated, and particularly after his stunt in the Black Garden, which messed his head up.
I have no idea
Hair
Just hair
And his motif is a dark bird, a crow, a group of which is known as a murder
So we have the space emo and the space zombie queen
@willow dagger who is Ukrainian
Crowâs a pretty upbeat and personable guy when heâs not dealing with his understandably bleak shit
Itâs just a hairstyle
He was the master of crows. Which were literally crow-like spy drones.
As for what Uldren was like as a Human...
I will preface this by saying Awoken forgot their names upon recreation and thus had similar yet different names for themselves -
Uldwyn grins messily at Mara over his opponent's shoulder. He's fighting a big, brutal woman from Gravity Ops, a woman who's had her myostatin genes knocked out so she can swell up into a giant plug of brawn. Uldwyn doesn't have a chance. He took the fight for the same reason he wanted to join the Amrita expeditionâhe measures himself by the bravery of his losses. By what he can survive losing.
He applies a blood choke. It's the right move, but it doesn't matter. The woman groans, grays out, goes limpâbut Uldwyn can't get out from beneath her sheer inertia before he hits the killzone. The bell goes off. Uldwyn groans as his rail-hard body forcibly decelerates his opponent's entire mass. Events have built up momentum, and he is just in the way.```
Emo?
Villain
I wouldn't really compare Corrupted-By-Taken-Energy+Riven+Black-Garden+Literally-Mentally-Ill Uldren to normal Uldren
Thatâs fair
Oh boy wait til you hear about Scorn
And⌠Shriekers? Shadow Cabaaaaaaal
they donât really count
I mean if I make a camera out of bones itâs not really a zombie is it

Ah skeletons then
Wait Shadow Legion are zombies
I know the majority are Calus clones but
That count as zombies?

Zombies in a more avant garde way, like a couple degrees closer to zombies than most
Corporate zombies, in the business of war
That dialogue about them trying to replicate Rites of Proving but not really getting the cultural history behind it, somewhat a result of Calus I think??? I think the implication is that their nature as clones being purpose built to serve in the Witness' army and Calus' whims makes them mentally suppressed in a way they think their half-assed Rites would fulfill
Lost sector moment
Who is speaking in the eris morn Grimoire card?
DAMN IT TOLAND
Man I hate Toland, such an asshole
What has he ever done for us?
Give us a neat guidebook through the hellmouth
Gotcha. How many people has he gotten killed?
Uhhh
At least 4 I reckon
What's the ADU
Automatic Destiny Unification
Advanced Defense Unit
Is there a lore reason why The Whisper is SO ANNOYINGLY HARD?
if itâs an advanced defense unit why am I the one defending it
I know is a joke but I gues is like a reactor
Keep that shit working to keep the turrets and the other defenses working

IT WOULDNâT NEED TURRETS IF IT DID ITS OWN JOB
Automatic Defective Utility
Iâm thinking the Logic is that, they take a shit ton of time to set up - even moreso for the advanced ones - and so youâre doing all the set up of gathering scrap and whatnot to establish preexisting defenses as well as resources for the ADUs to consume
Speaking of into the light
wtf why are pyramids right in the last city (and Vostok)
Like midtown what happened
We atak
But also protec
yo guys who's ghost did this cat body
probably some form of capitalism, there's vendors set up everywhere in the tower
I mean yeah we literally pay banshee for stuff
In what part of the hall is the little guy
way back behind the servers, there's a little hole thing? it's the opposide side of superblack omega
Thanks
Nah
Shaxx is married to all players now? I understand he is married who anyone who has the vow but
I have 0 idea about that vow
And people talk about five years and I got here on defiance
if this is what I think it's about, all of Destiny 2's events happen in real time, therefore all of destiny 2 has taken place over 5 years
our guardian is (if you were a day 1 player) cannonically only 10
hold on
nine and a bit
The Guardian is the same character no matter when you began playing
Hate how the guardian is everyone
How else would it work
Make it so that youâre one of many guardians, all equally powerful
The vanguard sees all these guardians in the tower and is like âyep thatâs one personâ
I mean in the canon it does not work that way
Well no, obviously not
They gave a MMO game a single-player story lmao
Itâs like thereâs literally a billion Young Wolves running around
Well technically that's right because Iron Banner
There is canonically one The Guardian, and you play as them

Iâm almost at regular guys

Which means your character you play gets to have meaningful interpersonal relationships and shared history with the characters in the game
Like 4 messages away
Anyway I asked that because as far as I understood only people who got the vow would see that
I guess that was wrong
The ambiguity of the Young Wolf amidst the various Guardians allows the possibility for your Guardian to be The Guardian
Thereâs also a bit on how lore is discovered by the player through activities that they will frequent that allows them to shape how their version of The Guardian is, though for all intents and purposes we just consider everything as canon
(Elsie with like 200 strangers rifles in her closet)
What's the origin of Taking?
Ok, thanks
*probably
Imagine if they decided as part of transcendence using weapons of sorrow counted as doing dark damage.
I think that'd be a pretty cool nod to how "evil" those weapons are
Evil and dark are not the same thing
Right I know it's not all that i was just describing the weapons of sorrow is all.
That's a whole rabbit hole to go down
They still donât count
Plus kinetic weapons do both light and dark
Whatever isnât full kinetic will do
I know. It was just a thought that's all.
What is this âgreat disasterâ?
Specifically?
Wdym specifically
Theres a few and I havenât heard that term used yet
I just have heard the term âThe Great Disasterâ
And I want to know what itâs about
Who said it
The Ghost
*Our Ghost
During Witch Queen
Iâve also heard other destiny players discuss it, though I never got a good idea on what it was
Just searched the channel logs
HmmmâŚ
OH @trim grotto
Ah
It was an event long ago on the moon involving eris and other guardians
Nevermind Mael, my b
Ah
Got specifics?

ok
so the Great Disaster was a battle that took place at some point prior to D1 during the earlier part of the City Age
it followed the Battle of Burning Lake which was the first major battle Guardians had with the Hive
Burning Lake was a close victory, and we still had little understanding of Hive weaponry at that time, yet the Vanguard decided to storm the Moon in order to reclaim it from the Hive
as a result, Crota and his knights emerged and slew thousands of Guardians
hence why the battle is known as The Great Disaster
One in particular
Possibly our greatest loss before the current day
At least Twilight Gap had a successful comeback
Dang
Dum vanguard ig
We had little experience fighting the Hive, nor did we know that Crota was going to be functionally invincible to us. Furthermore, we assumed an army of Guardians, thousands strong, would be enough This battle was centuries ago, and taught us a harsh lesson.
Also why we use the Strike system most of the time and rarely rally a full military front
Hey guys so Iâm just getting back from a kinda long D2 break and have a few questions:
-
Do the Starcrossed missions for Wishkeeperâs catalyst have a specific order I should do them in story wise or do they not have a canonical order in the story?
-
Is there any lore associated with the starcrossed mission outside of the catalyst quests and lore entries?
-
Whatâs the story behind Rivenâs Wishes? Are they just quests Mara gives us out of the blue with the filler text explaining them or is there any buildup?
Iâm returning⌠I remember many fragments of what the world and user interface used to be- So Iâm completely behind on such deep, immaculate lore; but that doesnât deter me from protecting Earth đŞđŻđŤâ¨
They do have an order, but it isn't a significant break or issue to do them outside of order.
No, the associated lorebook is pretty self contained.
There isn't much of one - it's just Riven giving us a little fairwell gift/challenge
Welcome back, Guardian. Feel free to ask us here if you're in need of answers! I won't be around for an hour or so, but the other regulars will probably help you out in the meantime.
You returned in the perfect moment Bungie is cooking good shit
And now all DLCs are in sales if you want to get up to date with them
Anyone want to get me those discounted DLCs đ đĽ˛đ I am super broke with bills and everything, but I know that the game is so much more enjoyable with all that extra content
Yeah but now theres a pretty modest amount of free content
Maybe you will miss the current season but now the active event is Into The Light, that is a free event that added a new mode, and brought back some weapons
Just do New Light normally and then go there, you can get some decent equipment easy, also now you cant get maxium power equipment completely free
OK being as I donât know what any of that means, Iâd love to acquire the abundance of free content like asap
May I dm you? you seem pretty knowledgeable about the lore, which is like my favorite aspect of games. Plus, I would greatly appreciate you helping a complete novice with the insane amount of content I have missed up until this point.
Im very amateur in the lore
I been playing for just one year
These guys are the experts, especially Mael
new light is the tutorial
create a new character to get everything explained
I Iâm about to jump back into it now, years later
I'd recommend looking at this. It gives a high level overview of the timeline of events of the Destiny universe. I'd also recommend doing extra research on this site, Ishtar Collective, it has every lore tab of every item as well as every lore book and also has curated pieces of lore that are relevant to the story of specific characters that are worth looking into.
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/timeline
For the record, you might wanna read the rules
its a very deep hole
America and Russiaâs nuclear silos might still be active
Could we just nuke the pyramids?
no and no
Even if they are
Im pretty sure that nuclear weapons are pretty much not working
To do the actual reaction and go kaboom they need some chemicals that well
They pretty much stop doing its thing after time
50k years
And considering Fallen are scarvengers even if they are still working im pretty sure they disarmed them to get materials
What do the Fallen have to not consider nukes as useful weapons?
the fact that theyâre useless in space
and fallen would probably value nuclear power more as a source of energy rather than just âfuck you blow upâ
their whole thing is survival, aside from Salvation
also youâre assuming any nuclear weapon survived the collapse and wasnât just part of it
thereâs a Manhattan nuclear Zone and Panama ravine for a reason
What is the ley lines Mara keeps talking about
subject introduced in season of the Lost
itâs a system to basically wormhole through the ascendant plane thanks to the blind well
I just remember dumb things from years ago that donât serve actual purpose
I have another question
shoot
Why canât the witness just slice us like they did in the lightfall trailer
Seems op
doesnât care enough to do so
it has better things to do
this is why it employed Calus
he was an egotist never wanting to admit he was wrong with an army at his disposal
So it doesnât see us as a threat?
weâre a threat but more of the idea of one
at the moment we donât directly threaten it
which is why everything below the witness is sent to deal with us
the witness has to do the whole thing inside the traveler personally
why take the time to go personally kill all guardians beforehand
How long has it been since it entered the traveler
Yeah so whatâs taking so long
if you ask me the explanation is probably going to be the traveler is fighting back or something
and the moment we get inside is when the traveler starts losing
universeâs longest arm wrestling match
since release
I missed a ton of stuff so Iâm just catching up with videos and stuff
I lost my original account with D1 back then too
it doesnât really matter thought because the âlootâ you got for being a D1 vet was pretty shit
Also is this egregore stuff significant in any way
I really like this honestly
I mean imagine it this way
a ton of wasps can kill you
but theyâre wasps so you can basically avoid them
and youâve been working to get this super good anti spray thatâs going to get rid of them all
are you going to take your time killing all the ones in your way
or just keep working on the solution while others keep the wasps at bay for you
I wonder if weâll even defeat the witness in the final shape because then what are the seasons for
just darkness mushroom stuff
helped us learn that darkness is linked to mental stuff but not particularly important on its own
yeah but that gives the possibility of the wasp managing to beat those others, basically what is happening. Thats because I first saw it stupid but I really like the idea of Witness just dont caring
Kinda like Rhulk
basically just a visual clue to know âthis place is probably fuckedâ
like how the leviathan turned out
we literally entered his base and beaten all of his army and bro started to take us serious when he was about to die
The episodes are about other plot threads. The Vex, the Scorn and the Hive
pretty sure bungie confirmed itâs going to be a campaign + raid ending
like forsaken
Yeah
Talks about the ego this creatures have, so yeah the witness just does not give a shit about us so he doesnt even try to beat us because we are not an instant threat
Not taking down the enemy because they are a threat is precisely what allowed them to become a threat
Is very well executed
would be fucked
you can barely count on 5 people to do their jobs
11 would be hell
high end is actually not that much played
I think less than 1% of player would manage to even try a 12 players raid

Imagine doing it with the fireteam finder đ
I canât even do dungeons properly with fireteam finder
People disconnect all the time
Some dungeons requiere actual communication but everyone knows what to do on grasp, prophecy and pit
Yeah I meant gotd and wr
Iâm gonna preorder annual pass tomorrow hopefully
What do we know about the architects are they even mentioned in the game?
Is this all we know?
It's Bungie's term for unexplained and/or physics deaths. In Halo, it was the Guardians. Obviously they couldn't reuse that name.
pretty sure itâs just mean to be a joke
like you failed a parkour jump and died
Yeah
the architect of the parkour killed you
sentient space dust
