From... lore?
No D2
Well then I think you have the wrong channel
you know who else was banned from lore
Nice
Rasputin shat on the traveler
To some extent I understood that the Hive acts the way they do because of their gods, who control them. There would be a hypothetical future where by defeating Xivu Arath we would "free" the hive, or there would always be more gods left?
And, how is it possible that Savathun's throne world still exists with Savathun dead? Or do these worlds not depend on their gods?
They do, but hers is sustained by the Wellspring.
It's an abnormality in that sense.
Strictly speaking, because they work on a pyramid scheme (no pun intended), the Tribute line would simply empower the next down the scale, if they took power.
But there is a possibility of freedom. A new generation could be claimed and we stop the Worm Parasite infusion, or hope that the Lucent Brood realise they no longer need Tribute thanks to the Light flooding their Tribute system - or the actual Lightbearers having straight up deceased Worms.
Oh
We'll probably never see it but I like to imagine a future where Fynch has friends of his own kind
Thanks for the clarification
Lore is why I'm here
I'm always happy to chat about it
Well, Savathûn isn’t dead currently. But like Mael said, the Wellspring sustains it anyway
I’d say he’s on good terms with our Ghost at least
Is Savathun's Throne World meant to be on Mars, or is it a whole separate planet that is just accessed via Mars? If the latter, what happened to the rest of Mars? (I miss the old Mars).
Has nothing to do with Mars, that’s just where her ship happened to be, which contained a portal to her Throne
Throne Worlds are spaces carved in the Ascendant Plane
(So you may already know this) but crow in game has confirmed that xivu attacked torabotll after ghaul invaded earth
I did know that
The whole point was that Torobatl fell under Caiatl’s banner and that was a source of her shame during Haunted
At least, but although I find it weird how Fynch was capable of betraying the entire hive. Of course he had plenty of reasons but it's as if he had no mercy for those who were his companions, we were literally crushing others like him who might have a similar way of thinking if we at least tried to talk
They weren’t trying to talk
They were trying to kill us and then the Ghosts were actively resurrecting the one who was just trying to kill us
I know, I also can't imagine a situation where a Ghost sees a guardian attacking and his first impulse is to speak
But that, it feels very strange how Fynch changes sides without showing any kind of empathy or mercy to his kind
He was coerced into it by other Ghosts really
They made their choices but he always felt iffy about it
And then pretty much immediately regretted it
So he made the choice to turn his back on the Hive. The other Ghosts didn’t. They’re actively aiding the ones trying to kill us
So

Makes sense
you know the loretab where the hive lightbearer is apprehensive about killing a guardian's ghost while its own is just screaming in its ear to finish the job

hive ghosts aren't good people
they'd defect like fynch if they wanted to
for all we know their last moments before we crush them are just a bunch of slurs in hive tongue
in battle they're actively trying to ressurect our enemy, we can't exactly leave them alone
Lucent Hive are an actually interesting point that was known since the beginning of the risen that us players didnt get to see firsthand until they showed up
In that Light does not automatically means good
(See Warlords)
It's a detail that annoyed me a little when I played the campaigns, the absurd rejection of darkness with the previous existence of the Warlords or even after the appearance of the Lucent Hive
Lack of "good" examples and the Speakers dogma is what I blame
Consider that Darkness, for the longest time, was simply evil to people.
It caused the ruin of our entire species. Created monsters from Guardians like Dredgen Yor.
Even now, there's residual fear and hate.
Any of the Hive Ghosts potentially could, but like Waltz elaborated some Ghosts are not good people; there's also the fact that they're somewhat under some control by Savathun through weird programming, Season of the Risen (Witch Queen's concurrent/first season) was us collabing with Caital's closest Psion advisor to try and pry information from Hive Lightbearers regarding how Savathun is directing them despite her being dead and prevented from being remotely rezzed by Immaru
Makes sense
Also consider that Darkness had only been handled well for Good like, 3/4 years ago, in comparison to the at least 1000 year long period from the Collapse to the start of Beyond Light
I know, but in the same way that in the past light was used for evil, it would not be very difficult that darkness could be used for good. But well with everything you all say makes sense
Ye, if Good thing could allow bad people and bad things to happen, how much more could Bad thing do
the main concern was that instead of just being revived with no real guidance, stasis was actively being handed out on a platter by something with an actual voice telling us how amazing it is
that’s the main difference
So the thing that gets me with Immaru not being able to rez Savvy is its canonically established the ghost doesn't need the physical body to do so
Why can't I bring him back? If a Guardian falls into Titan's methane sea, they do not die instantly, but we can still bring them back on the arcology. If a Guardian hurls themself off their ship into space, do we need to wait for them to disintegrate in the solar wind before we bring them back? No.
—
My Guardian is immortal. My Guardian is forever lost to me. He boarded the derelict Almighty with his fireteam, hoping to salvage Cabal secrets from the star murderer.
I should have seen the trap. Was it Cabal? Was it some Vex infection from Mercury? I don't know. It's all my fault. I remember how the moment of activation felt like falling. He...
So I don't think it makes sense
this entry is not a cover-all
it's also canonically established that Ghosts do need the body most-often, as the Praxics and Iron Lords have both used similar methods of sequestering the body
what this entry does is explain why we're rezzed when we leap off of a cliff, but not how, or the difference in situations
Im not talking about the theory part, im talking about the ghost itself saying they don't need the body in situations where its not fully destroyed
I just question the efficacy of sequestrating the body of a Risen
Its hard to square they can rez after jumping off of a cliff with not being able to after the body has been moved to a different location
Headcanon:We stuffed Savathuns corpse within drifters fridge (and thus a darkness zone) that Immaru didnt want to go anywhere near
I mean Savathun was in a similar state as the guardian on the Almighty, save for her actually dying. Even with the FWC theory, 1) were supposedly on a fringe timeline that hasn’t been experienced before where we’re relatively successful in combatting the Witness’ schemes, though who’s to say there aren’t tangential timelines to ours save for Elsie’s experience through her timeloop, which itself could coincide with multiple timelines running tangential to each other with nigh complete similarity; 2) perhaps in all the closest timelines we had so greatly secured Savathun’s body and preserved it that there is no possibility of her being able to be remotely rezzed by Immaru
Does vex in vog and gos are the same?
are you asking if the Vex in VoG and GoS are from the same group?
No.
they aren't
VoG Vex canonically are from the Hezen Corrective
meanwhile GoS Vex are Sol Divisive
The Vault of Glass is largely guarded by the Hezen Protective, whereas the Black Garden Vex are the Sol Divisive. However, it seems the Vault of Glass did receive some manner of benefit from the Black Heart of the Garden.
however, there is some intersection between the VoG and Black Garden
Can you guys explain the what is hezen protective is?
you see, the VoG Vex were using power from the Black Garden's Heart to fuel their experiments which would have allowed them total control over reality (essentially what the Witness is trying to do)
Hezen Protective are a subcollective of Vex who are tasked with protecting the VoG from outside threats like the Fallen or Guardians
They're a Vex Collective focused on, well, protecting various important sites to the Vex on Venus.
But does both of hezen and sol in witness control?
I got it mixed up
No, just the Sol Divisive.
The rest of the Vex are their own faction.
Hezen Protective are the VoG runners
while the Corrective are the ones taking control of Venus
the rest of the Vex are wary of Sol Divisive
since the SD worship the Witness and are more hostile to them
The Black Garden is a different dimensional plane.
I see I see. Kinda wish I can play from the year 1. I started on lightfall and kinda interested on the lore
Even I didn't play from year 1. Never did D1, started in Season of Dawn in D2.
I played D1 I think around the time House of Wolves came out, then I stopped right at the end of Y2 since I had an older gen console at the time
As far as we can tell, yes
Then i got D2 during Curse of Osiris (the award winning expansion)
and have been playing it since
the first one might be Vex related, but the promo art we got of it is rather vague. It does appear to be vex-shaped though and there is Venus scenery around it
Venus back "question mark"
Well, it isn't actually sunset. It wasn't ever in D2, just D1.
waiting on Praedyth and the simulated Ishtar scientists to make it back here
maybe then we can have a mission of us fighting through Venus areas
maybe make it back to Dr. Shim's lab
Ohh yeah right. What does we get before season of arrival?
Worthy?
I mean the planet
As in, what locations were in the game prior to Vaulting?
Yes
Well, there was Mars (Hellas Basin), Mercury, Io, and Titan
Numerous Raids aboard the Leviathan, yes
So, Titan we can visit on gotd, mars we can visit on spire of the watcher and enclave, mercury on flawless trial
Mars was brought back at the start of WQ
Such as it is
Leviathan returned over the Moon in Haunted
and Titan returned in Deep
I think general consensus is that Savathun brought Mars back
the Witness told Calus to bring the Leviathan to the Moon
and we have no idea why Titan returned
they never explained it
would be funny if planets encounter in RoN caused it
I guess maybe because Bungie just think of fish and titan is water based planet I guess?
Technically it's liquid methane
That's the leading (only) theory, to be fair
Yeah that's could be as well
What io based on btw?
Based on?
The reference on our real world yk
yellow-greenish
It's an actual moon of Jupiter. Partially transformed by the Traveler, but never finished.
fun fact, Cosmodrome is also based off of a real location
Technically
the Baikonur Cosmodrome
Russian state?
maybe in the Golden Age Russia took over
after all, we know that all of North America combined into an empire
Since ras is there, I thought that should be Russian place
they call it Old Russia ingame
and Rasputin is called that because I think the person who created him, Mihaylova, is russian
Strictly speaking, it may not be Baikonur, but that is what it is based off of
Sleeper Simulant ornament called Baikonur though
Yes, it's a clear reference to Baikonur
also, Rasputin was originally known as just "R."
Does mihaylova have connections with bray family?
Not really
not really sure how Bray got their hand on R.
But CB did claim the safety satellite that R was installed into at some point
And Mihaylova was long dead by then
Well, Clovis doing Clovis thing I guess
Anathasia?
Evie
Evie?
Evie Calamut
she is credited for naming the Traveler
and also being HAL 9000ed by R.
A member of the Ares One mission who R totally didn't assasinate
Can you guys, elaborate Abit?
Might have hacked a sprinkler system to make her fall down stairs
Evie was going to tattle on Mihaylova and R, as R was, in her eyes, too experimental
Unsafe to use
So Evie is one of golden age successer?
she died before the Ares One crew reached Mars
and I don't quite know what you mean by "successor"
Yeah I don't really know how to say like she is one of the people that make golden age on destiny so I thought that's was the word
Ares One did not really start the Golden Age
they were just the people who were sent to confront the Traveler on Mars
that event was what marked the start of the Golden Age
The first rains on Mars
Ares One would make one hell of a movie
doesn't even need to be marketed for Destiny fans
A desert planet turned garden world, but fell back to dust and desert after the Collapse.
Mercury was a Garden World
yes
thought you were referring to Mars
I was
Kinda amazed that mercury is the closest planet to sun yet we can travel there easily. It really show that traveler is very powerful on changing planet
the Traveler can reshape things physically down to the molecular level
Indeed
total control over the physical domain
Nice wallpaper bro
ask
if witness is his race all in one, but the race had like tons of ships
fleets
who/how he witness driving them?
some kind of telepathy?
the Witness has mental control over every molecule of Pyramid tech
including the air inside them
have fun breathing Witness air whenever you go inside of a Pyramid
hm
Good thing I wear a helmet.
And am a robot.
Exos still have the need to breath
even if we can't actually breath, we got the need to
maybe even the ability to simulate it
"Thank you," you breathe (don't breathe; can't breathe). "Grandfather told me he wasn't even sure that I had the—the disease. Until recently."```

look how tiny little Mael is
still can simulate it
he can survive traveller beam, and open space, and can just pull apart ghosts and ships with his finger flick, and did that weird phase reality trick to calus, how overpowered this guy is
Yes.
therefore Witness air is still infiltrating your nonexistant lungs
or maybe existant faux-lungs
dova i know i'm making a joke
Bruhh
i dont mind petra I just swear to fucking god if they try to force romance between her and crow im so done
Tbh, I think they will
Petra has only just gotten to the point where she isn't thinking about shooting Crow
I WAN'T HER TO MESS UP
I WANT HER TO DO SOMETHING STUPID
I WANT TO ADD SOMETHING ELSE TO THE LIST
ya, I dont know if itll happen yet, but the idea kind of burrowed itself into my mind and I was like dear god please no
oh i've got one
gaslighting Crow in the Dungeon
Based on coil dialogue, I do seem like she and crow is getting closer
"Don't be silly Crow, there's no signature in the Dark Ether, Fikrul totally isn't involved"
"Petra I have all my memories and know Fikrul more than anyone"
"nah lol you're imagining it"
not the gaslight gatekeep girlboss
the bastards are literally named "broken knights of Fikrul"
do they not teach literacy in the Corsair academy?
should have remained on the path of a Techeun Petra
I mean it's not like they wear name badges
OH WAIT, YOU FUCMING SUCKED AT IT
yeah i was about to say haha
petra cant spell restaurant
(she is illiterate)
i did enjoy the lore in the dungeon tho, the quest to guide it was nice too

ok, noted, Petra really thinks Fikrul ain't doing anything
I been heard that shaxx was gonna involved in this new dungeon tbh
not sure if I can addit to the list though, character limit
petra hate club
We assumed he might have been involved due to the name and situation
Shaxx was a known Ahamkara slayer, and a Warlord
and he had a castle
doesnt he have an ahamkara skull above his vendor location in the tower?
Correct
Because he is
Silly
I prefer Elsie over petra
he is
Goofy
turns out ||Shaxx was the one who told Naeem about Hefnd||
Was it, now?
I haven't finished all of the lore for it yet, just finished my first run this weekend.
the lore quest is so long it made me wanna cry
On bone collecting part I think
Or like lore card
so basically, Shaxx killed Hefnd, then he would tell Naeem about it and Naeem would decide to make a dela with Hefnd. Basically, Hefnd would grant wishes to surrounding villagers for Naeem so she could colect tribute and in exchange Naeem would bear the burdens of their wishes
then House of Kings would roll in and kill Naeem. Her dying wish would be vengeance against them which Hefnd was more than glad to do since he actually liked her. So then he brought Taken into the castle which led to the Kings becoming Scorn
Imagine dragon into human 💀
finally, Fikrul would see Scorn on Earth and decide to send 5 knights there to claim them before either the Witness took them or we killed them
let me tell you about Tallulah Fairwind
Actually, Dova, I know you like this tale
Proceed. I'm ready with my food
hey man, don't blame Caliban
throw your whole gauntlets away
throw your stupid dealers cap away
yeah, Tallulah stepped on a landmine there
thinking she should play poker with an Ahamkara
Guess hunter have dying trend
Yeah we kinda do
I wonder though, was there anything stopping her from just killing the Ahamkara?
like was wish magic stopping her from fighting back?
Agreed ngl
The Hunter fandom is dying
Probably, since wish magic is really powerful tho
Anyway since Dova is beating around the bush
Tallulah Fairwind was the initial Hunter Vanguard, the very first
Yeah, most of the people I met usually like hate on hunter. Kinda feel bad for innocent hunter main out there
She passed away after... wait for it...
Losing a game of cards with an Ahamkara disguised as an old man, with her friend Caliban-8 as the dealer
Caliban, in turn, became the second Hunter Vanguard
and Caliban was wearing a dealers cap
So, what Tallulah wish with that ahamkara tho?
Does she just opened her arms and died?
Honestly we don't even know if it was a Wish
Just that she lost the game
It was She that inspired me to imagine your destruction, o jailer mine.
—
Tallulah Fairwind smoothed the felt of the table with one hand, idly playing with her chips with the other. Across the table, Caliban-8 wore a green dealer's cap and looked stricken.
The Ahamkara looked like somebody's kindly old grandpa just now. And it could play a mean ...
here's the entry for you
And Caliban is there, traumatized?
haha yeah
as seen...
Always keep one up your sleeve.
—
Caliban-8 had the singular misfortune of "winning" the position of Hunter Vanguard in a card game he didn't even play. All he'd done was deal the hand that lost Tallulah Fairwind's bet—and her life—to an Ahamkara.
Not a day went by where he didn't wish he'd cheated. At least then, the wish-dragon might have kill...
here, in the follow-up entry
Ahamkara most likely dared her to wish
Tallulah has a reputation for never turning down a dare
would make sense for that to be her downfall
It's sort of a Hunter's honour
there's a lot of honour-bound "rules" in Hunter ranks
Ah, that's quite a tale, that one.
dare was between him and Andal Brask (Hunter Vanguard before him)
whoever killed Taniks first won't take the seat
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-the-man-they-call-cayde
The tale is largely documented here
Cayde killed Taniks first so Andal had to take the seat
Excellent read, by the way
then Taniks came back so Cayde killed him again and made sure he was dead this time
then Taniks came back again and killed Andal Brask
Well, I guess the way to get hunter vanguard title is to bet who gonna die first then lmao
so Cayde took the seat to honor Andal
Prior Hunter Vanguard Kauko Swiftriver went missing, Andal Brask was killed by Taniks afterwards, then Cayde-6 took over and was killed by Prince Uldren Sov.
So, how does titan and warlock get their title?
whoever accepts the seat really
Saint-14 was given the seat by the Speaker because the Speaker considered him worthy (and maybe a bit of nepotism, but I'll let it slide because Saint was a W vanguard)
Is there anyone besides saint and zavala is titan vanguard?
I guess only hunter that changed so much it seems
The last word lore?
Once belonged to a Hunter named Jaren Ward
Jaren Ward met a young Shin Malphur (who was secretly rezzed by a Ghost as an infant [that Ghost was destroyed not long after though])
eventually, a corrupted Titan named Dredgen Yor came along and killed Jaren Ward and burned down Shin's hometown, Palamon
however, Yor let Ward's Ghost live (Dredgen Yor's weapon drains Guardians of their Light so he can't even be rezzed)
so then Ward's Ghost met up with Shin and gave him The Last Word
eventually Shin Malphur would confront Dredgen Yor and gun him down in the middle of his monologue
this is pretty much the basics of it, but there is a lot that goes into Dredgen Yor and Shin Malphur
"A Drifter's Gambit", "Letters from a Renegade", "The Books of Unmaking", "For Every Rose, a Thorn", and "Nothing Ends" pretty much tell the story of what Shin has been doing since
Has shin died yet?
No.
What's he been up to in the most basic terms
Not much. He retired. Still hunts the occasional corrupted Guardian, though.
I thought there was already a group of guardians that did that? Is he just like a solo free lance operative when it comes to that?
I wouldn't imagine him being part of the vanguard like we are
Depends on which you mean. You could be referring to the Praxic Order of Warlocks (and Siegfried), and yes they do, but Praxics are zealots. They seek not to understand Darkness, but eradicate it. Shin has learned to walk the grey line, much as we do now.
Yeah I that's what they were called, wym by zealots?
Some of them wanted to overthrow the Vanguard entirely for allowing Drifter into the Tower
In that she isn’t trying to murder him in sight, yes; still being her awful self tho
For further clarification
Anybody know some lore about Nezarec?
he likes to hear himself talk
We only got the Delicate Tomb, Nezarec’s Sin, and Root of Nightmares for lore resources, the latter of which only really has one entry maybe, the rest are related to other individuals
Nezarec is purposefully made vague for some reason we don’t know
What exactly are the Darkness and Light?
fundamental forces of the universe that are beyond normal science and physics
I see
The wiki mentions this:
According to the Lore Book Unveiling, the Light is associated with the "growth and preservation of complexity". In contrast, the Darkness is portrayed as being associated with simplification and the reduction of diversity.
The idea of Darkness being associated with "Simplicity" makes very little sense to me though. The light seems to give us much simpler powers related to the physical world like Electricity, Fire and Gravity, but the darkness gives us much more complex abilities like Strand and Deepsight. It's all kinda confusing lol
Well, for one, Unveiling is a lore book which’s validity is called into question
What we know now of Darkness, with Stasis and Strand and Deepsight and such is much more progressed than the knowledge we had at that time
That being said, there are still aspects of the Darkness that play into this idea of simplification
We see it in how Clarity reduces radiolaria and creates Alkahest
I see. I like Osiris' hypothesis of the Darkness being more related to consciousness and thought, while the Light is more related to the physical world.
Makes more sense to me
That hypothesis was only made recently, prior to Beyond Light the standard notion was that Darkness was fully corruptive
But of course, we were introduced to Stasis by Elsie and discovered Strand for ourselves, learning the greater intricacies of Light and Darkness and how they are simply different sides of Paracausality
How long do fallen live for?
Mithrax implies his mother witnessed the traveller abandoning his people, and he’s already kinda old
Eramis saw the traveler leave so take that as an idea
Eliksni have much longer lifespans than us
Fuck, she went to the beach that makes you old
we aren't given an exact lifespan I don't think, but they do live for a couple hundred years at least
Wasn’t our collapse like 400 years ago?
Who are the 9
Do you want the short or the long version
Most likely
I don't think we have a good estimate
Short
sentient clouds of space dust tied to the gravitational loops generated by the planets of Sol
if you want the best explanation for the Nine, I suggest reading the Dust lore book
All we know is that the traveler arrived sometime in the 21st century, and the golden age lasted 350-400 years
mainly the last few chapters
How do we know that latter part
So eramis must be around 1000 years old?
Arrival of the traveler adds up because we have actual sources on technology and world political states at the time
Well the traveler could have taken a long time to travel from riis to sol
Ye
Atleast 1000 is what i meant
Damn
That's assuming their estimate of golden and dark age is correct
Wait Is ether more than just fallen food?
it’s also kinda external hormones
Hence some gigantic fallen
Ohh, so that’s why taniks and the like are so huge
if they don’t get enough they can’t fully mature or grow
That and augments
They’re chromed up
Ye
So do fallen need ether to subsist, or will any food do?
Taniks is more likely to be huge due to how he's that has turned himself into a walking toasted
They need it
Ether rationing implies it
I see, kinda weird that some public events have us prevent them from taking it then.
they need ether but just enough to survive will basically just keep them as dregs
excess ether is what allows them to get hella big
which is why high ranking fallen are generally the ones that are so large
they get more rations
Eliksni smaller than captains are most likely Ether malnourished
Funny that eramis is probably the shortest of her upper-management
her size varies
in cutscenes, she is mostly captain-sized
and also in the Parley back in Plunder
She’s just as huge when we fight her iirc
but the rest of the time she is Ultra-sized
yeah vandals/dregs/wretches are malnourished, iirc regular captains are healthy average eliksni
Mithrax is regular captain sized because he tends to fairly share ether
Where's sol
Here.
Solar System
o
Sol is where sol is, like where our sol is, sol is our sun.
Ye...
I mean, we start out on Earth
Our moon is called moon
Null and Void
Yea but like that's like calling Neptune liquid
Grandmaster nightfall is gm instead of gn
Neptune is a gas giant
Ice
well, not really a giant
Oh right
Ah, ma’ favourite moon, methane.
You get my point though
it's a Jovian which means it is a gaseous world
It makes sense yes
Neptune and Uranus are ice giants
But we're super fucking basic in naming there
Jovian is just Jupiter
Jovian applies to any planet past Mars
It does not
I was told this place was high IQ XD
nerds argue about science words in a destiny discord: 2023 colorized
it does though
jokes on you im not from here i was one of the trolls from gen
expecting green users to have any coherent thought was your mistake
Lol
can confirm
So the nine are just everywhere in the solar system
and their reach can extend outside of it, however, they are bound to Sol
Any past Mars are Jovian
kinda except also no
individual members of the nine are in different places i think
joevian
the plot thickens
And they give me 11 half truths with no eager edge in a row?
imagine discussing Destiny lore with an inferior understanding of astronomy
then there’s the schism that happened that separated them so now nobody knows wtf is happening with the nine
except maybe difter
the nine wills that you craft the damn thing and get an other half
4 of them are trying to create their own worlds to rely on safe from the bs happening in Sol
Lol
I live with someone who studies astronomy so I have an advantage
they’re kinda just chillin sending flesh abominations through portals tryna show up in the physical plane

the other 5 seek to understand paracausality as a means to sever their reliance on us
i’m with them dawg
i ain’t fw no super power zombies
the thing is that if we die out, then the Nine do as well
Why is xur so attached to them
and the Nine know that Sol is in a lot of danger, so they're trying to find a way to make it so they don't need to rely on us
he's their servant
they kinda turned him into tentacley boi
and also he’s their servant yeah
we have been given very little details on Xur's origin
o
i still wanna know wtf the door in the woods is
Is xur a hunter since he has a hunter cloak
he isn't a risen
xur isn’t a guardian
according to some knowledge, Xur is a Jovian, who were humans transformed during the Collapse like the Awoken
lol
he’s just a dude who got turned into a tentacle demon
o
galaxy pools entrance?
would make sense but i wanna know when we get to go there
maybe that’s where we watch some major shit go down in a live event or smth
or it was just y1 dialogue that got scrapped along with the pools
How is xur in his treasure hoard and on some other planet at the same time
Because Xur
Starhorsepiss
Don't take anything in Eternity as canon
He drank it?
except Grasp if you count the node in it
are starcats to cats what starhorse is to horse?
Forerunner?
everything in 30th anniversary is Canon
What's grasp
Grasp of Avarice dungeon
dungeon
grasp of average
30th anniversary is kinda like, everything might be canon sure but it's the kind that don't matter
is separate a better term
It is Canon tho
still canon
bungie is silly like that
Who's Ava rice
it’s canon but also not
Bugnie has made weirder things canon
it’s canon that it exists but the events that happen in it are not canon
Canon
very odd
random rolls, perks, Tuesdays
It’s the same way he is at the Vestian outpost and the tower at the same time
extreme greed for wealth or material gain.
o
ava rice is my favorite food
Wdym
^
Ava rice or uncle Ben rice
o
Do you mean what happens in the activity
yeah
we don’t actually fight crota again
they pull enemies from other timelines and stuff like that i think
He says time locked or smthn
which is the explanation but rlly i think xur just slips us a perc and we trip balls for like half an hour
Dares takes u 30 mins?!
yeah so the weird space rift thingy that dares is in is actually unstable so eventually it’s gonna collapse and vanish. xur is gonna forget that dares ever happened
you wouldn’t believe some of the lfgs i’ve done legend runs with

Lol ye icl yesterday I ran legend dares lfg with thunderlord and 2 special ammo guns, and then on the choose the door bit everyone went to the middle one and I got baited to go there too cus I thought maybe it changed, but it hadn't and I got no heavy ammo
canon event
PewDiePie is xur?
PewDiePie is a fallen?
no pewdiepie is lakshmi-2
Where's Lakshmi
o
Why does xur do the dares of eternity?
Dares isn't really canon
Don't think about it too much
Dares was made by Bungie as part of their 30th anniversary to celebrate their company and prior games
It's why the weapons are all references to their old games
Marathon, Pathways Into Darkness, so on
he just goes where the nine send him
since the emissary is just fucking off doing other stuff xur is handling most of the guardian relations currently
actually idek what the emissary is doin rn
prolly tryna figure out how to escape the game or smth
Lol
not joking the coolest bit of nine lore is that they’re aware they’re in a video game
or the emissary is aware at least
well one of the coolest bits
the hulking flesh abominations in cocytus are pretty dope too
Not in this case
In Dares he was kidnapped by the Star Horse
Not that kind of game
It isn't what they were discussing
No, the Nine and Emissary were referring to the game between Light and Dark
And breaking out of our place in the game by beginning to use Darkness
The Ahamkara were though, yes
nah they said we can leave the game
not break out, leave
Yes
the difference is subtle but def there
I know.
Drifter: All right. Thanks for the memories, you lunatic. Anything else I can do for you?
The Emissary: You're already doing it. Keep playing the game.```
```The Emissary: Only two others have transcended their design. The first, an hourglass counting down with infinite patience. The second, a forgotten blade sharpened anew. And now, the Dredgen.```
I see your point, but there's also the surrounding context. The game in the first quote is the game of Light and Dark. While you can interpret the entry you're quoting in your manner (and many have and will continue to do so), I choose to believe it's referring to the game I'm quoting now. It has more contextual grounding.
i’m not talking about that one
I know what you're talking about
i’m lost
++ The Derelict
—— The Guardian jumps through the portal in the Derelict.
++ The Haul, The Derelict
—— The Guardian finds the Emissary.
The Nine: WHAT DOES IT WANT?
You're referring to this
yes
I am quoting other weeks from the Invitation of the Nine, not 5
9 and 1
This is what I mean by the surrounding context
Heck, the finale after these visits is a step called The Bigger Game, leading to this
The Drifter: I told you not to look into the Emissary and you did it anyway. You know how many people I killed for less? Shut up. Don't answer that. I don't need the sass right now. I'm in over my head, kid. Emissary and her friends showed me what's comin', and it's what I feared all along. Put aside your dogma. The fight that's coming can't be won with Light alone. Gambit's your salvation and mine. See you on the field.
Drifter and Saladin purport that it’s been at least 1000 years since they’ve been alive, and they were supposedly first rezzed at the the tail end of the Collapse, entering the first days of the Dark Ages. The Traveler had been around the Solar System for much longer, before contact was made in 2014 and hung around for an indefinite period of time for however long the Golden Age was
And then yeah, we don’t know how long the Eliksni had been drifting through space, or the time the Traveler took to get to Sol
We know they came during the dark age, most likely in the early years
The Collapse happened over multiple days, maybe even a month, and was when all the other species entered into our system, though yes there would most likely be Ketches that would've been entering the Sol System even into the Dark Age
Still doesn't signify how long they've been adrift in space still, so Eramis still ranges from a couple centuries to less than a handful of millennia old
Eramis was so lame, she never felt like all that scary of a villain
Great, it would also be good to know not every enemy we've fought who's a genuine threat to the City is a big spooky existential crisis
Hell, look at Taniks, he's just a prominent serial killer whom the houses kept hiring and who kept coming back to life through heretical technology - even before SIVA and the DSC - he was essentially a giant terrorist, as opposed to Oryx or Savathun, Gods of their race and whom proved to be ontological threats
But also he's still well regarded as a threat
Eramis moreso presents us the dilemma of our right to dictate who lives or dies in our star system, as she views us as a threat to the revitalization of her civilization, which was somewhat true considering how we obliterated three major Houses in our time!
But there is the justification that we were defending ourselves in our own home system, that we are equally victims of the Eliksni's efforts to reclaim what was once theirs - the Traveler's blessing
Beyond Light and Season of the Splicer has us begin to recognize the plight of the Eliksni and how much they themselves have suffered, and so we extend our hand to help those who need help
We stop seeing non-humans as "The Other", "The Enemy", and realize they're equally struggling to survive in this universe like us, which Eramis' insistence on revenge against us and the Traveler contrasts and is meant to highlight the inability to let go of the past
Which thankfully, she's learned to let go and decided to find her wife again
I mean he was just a bounty hunter
who also killed hunters
which is funny
I remember there being something about how he has no House because he’s distasteful in the eyes of the other Eliksni, which is ironic because they kept hiring him
Taniks has no house. He kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a killer, and very good at what he does.
Did the Dreaming City 3 week cycle start after rivens death or did the cycle reset after her death
My guess is the former since she’s, well, dead.
But if her death marked the cycle reset, wouldn’t she be alive?
started after Riven's death
And no, she needed the desire for her to be dead and the reality of her being dead to grant the Curse
No she's the one who's supervising the Curse, we thought killing her would end the Curse but womp womp it didn't
Doesn’t she come back every curse cycle tho?
there’s kind of a difference between the taken curse that gradually corrupts the city and the loop that restarts it
Dul Incaru was leading the charge for Savathun and her taken invading the DC
Savathun basically just abandoned her for the sake of imbaru generation though
I don’t think Dul has much of a choice in it
ultimately the taken corruption increasing week by week and the loop resetting it are both under the umbrella of the same curse
but at the time we just considered it the taken
Exactly, it didn't work
Cycle still running, shit is still Cursed
lorn
Let’s be honest, who does have a choice when it comes down to Savathûn
Starfarer 7m lore: I like it, it's wholesome, nice slice-of-life, but,
Artemis winced. "When can you come home?"
"When this Pyramid decides to piss off or Ikora thinks we have enough data. So, never."
"We'll all be home soon enough. I bet that next year, we'll be doing this in person," Artemis said.
We, as players, can be all over the solar system in seconds. Why can't they?
They're not allowed to pop off to see each other for a few minutes?
a few minutes is all it takes for shit to hit the fan
damn that's tough
if you’re a hidden agent working for Ikora you know what you signed up for
NORAD might track Santa every Christmas but the army still gotta be at ready; same deal
Is the fundament leviathan ever referenced to as a bipedal creature?
Man and here I thought we might actually get to see a Harbinger this week
Is fish monkey?
Is it?
Every fan depiction of the Leviathan I've seen has been a huge serpent
Assuming it's the same species, I believe Ahsa is described as whale-like
I mean Leviathan, the demon who is supposedly representative of Gluttony when the English decided to do a bunch of fanfic about Devils and Angels, is traditionally a serpentine creature; we also get glimpses of Ahsa and she's pretty big, though she has a front more reminiscent of a whale. Could be she just looks like an elongated whale.
Nah asha actually walks about the ocean floor on to short legs
idk if it was just me, but from playing the beyond light campaign and reading all the lore about running up to BL and afterwards, it feels like eramis was never intended to be a villain, just an antagonist, and one who we can sympathise or at least empathise with
like shes presented by quite a few eliksni, like variks as the last best hope the eliksni have to survive and actually for the first time since the whirlwind, thrive, but also she has terrible luck and genuinely makes a handful of bad decisions, blinded by anger and revenge, and unluckily ending up as the main opposition to us meaning that its inevitable we come tearing down everything she built, even if it was justified in our eyes
and in trying to get her and her people out of the game between the light and the dark, she accidentally dooms them to serve the witness or die
she also never felt like she was that much of a threat
I mean, it kind of felt like we steamrolled her entire Empire
i feel like that was part of the point
Which in fairness to her, Stasis and the Witness’ influence was part of why she fell for the temptation of revenge
exactly
yeah, and it feels like, like how the hidden swarm was used as a punching bag for us by savathun, house salvation was used as a punching bag for us by the pyramids and the witness
playing through BL years ago felt like TTK to me
i always feel bad when i kill eliskni on europa
oryx's hive served as an existential threat, killing cabal was revenge for the red war until that started feeling bad by the time caiatls cabal came, there is no feelings with the vex, us to them and vice versa, and destroying the hidden swarm felt like a mercy killing, but with house salvation, it still feels like the last hope for any substantial eliksni survival
even with house light, given how small house light is
and house dusk being almost completely shattered as an entity
Eramis' fault really
yeah, doesnt stop me from feeling bad tho
in fact, she went to Europa specifically because the Witness told her to
like, until the destruction of torobatl and the exodus of the cabal empire, the eliksni were the closest to humanity in terms of circumstance, both fighting for their very survival having both experienced a devastating collapse
i mean, they still are the closest
also, do we ever get an explanation on how neomuna can exist?
like exist on a solid surface on neptune, an ice giant
SIVA was instrumental in building the settlement
is it a fundament situation where its kinda handwavingly explained why a solid surface can exist on a planet with no solid surface?
as in space magic
eh, I think it was said somewhere that Neptune was terraformed in some way
not by the Traveler
ah
when i first heard of a city on neptune, i thought it wouldve been like a floating city or on one of its moons
oh wait, i just realised, its built on top of the veil, so theres probs some fucky wucky paracausal shit happening too
It sort of is. On diamonds.
"That's what Fundament must be. A titanic gas planet. The endless storm above us must be one layer of the atmosphere. And the sea we float on... there's more down beneath it. So much more!"
Okay, so Fundament itself is a bit of a weird one
The continents did not come from Fundament, but other planets that collided with Fundament and were torn apart. These planetary shards formed the continents and life survived on them. They merely float upon a layer of Fundament's atmosphere.
As for Neptune
hang on i've got to dig through a document here
Quinn Laghari: Those docks should be bustling with skimmers — these big boats that suck water and microdiamonds from the storms. Neptune's "surface" is in part full of microdiamonds, like a thick and terribly sharp sand.
Funnily enough, this is an actual scientific theory
High pressure experiments that mimic conditions on the icy gas giants show that chunks of diamond can float on a sea of liquid carbon.
Gotta love scientifically informed world building in Destiny
Destiny isn't a stranger to using irl science to their stuff
Such as irl psychological theories to base certain people
Like guardian resurrection
The sudden mention of mates in the latest seasonal dialogue makes me wonder if they're priming an introduction of Taranis. Maybe he's responsible for the clutch going missing lol
Mael u got lore on cheese for me?
what do hive do for their holidays?
other than the time oryx vanquished the vex from his house, do they have other holidays?
I don’t recall that being a holiday
What is a Hive holiday is Eversion day, at least for Oryx’s brood
They celebrate Oryx turning his Throne inside out to his Dreadnaught by turning things inside out themselves
I find the idea of hive finding random things and turning them inside out for a day kinda a funny idea lol
it’s less funny when you think about what they could actually be doing it to
for example a knight could be all “oh I don’t have anything to invert today” and then see a random thrall next to them
I don’t think the hive have an abundance of reversible pillows, y’know
Hi, im writing an essay about destiny 2 and need someone to help with some of the more recent story stuff, i basically quit shortly after the witchqueen raid and lost track of the story could anyone give me a super basic summary of the witch queen lore post raid, anything about season of the plunder and why we did so much pirate stuff, what happened in seraph and a brief summary of this exansion
i dont need much its only for a paragraph i just want to sumarise what happened in the game so far before i get into more detail on my main topic
plunder was basically just the witness setting Eramis free (she never died just froze) and sent her off to find a bunch of old artifacts, which ended up being the severed corpse parts of nezarec
seraph was us initially trying to rebuilt Rasputin in order to use his vast weapons network, but we found our Xivu arath was planning to use it against us in order to empower herself
in the end Eramis tried using all Rasputin’s war satellites against the city and traveler and Rasputin made the choice to destroy himself to leave no trace behind that anyone could use
what’s your essay about, exactly
there’s quite a few points you could use destiny to make
its about cultivation theory in media, basically how over exposure to media can affect how we live our lifes
i chose destiny cos of how addicting it can be which i have first hand experience at cos i did 2500 hours in just over 13 months of play time
alright well the overarching theme of Destiny is about your destiny and how you define it
you could probably mention something like that
yeah im planning to use that in my conclusion
shouldn’t the conclusion be a restatement of everything
did anything important happen after vow of the deciple raid but before the psios stuff
I mean there usually aren’t major plot points between a dlc release and its raid
probably ill figure out the essay stuff myself i just need information at the moment
the raids are the next plot points
I’d suggest skimming through Ishtar’s timeline and diving into whatever you want more context on
ill give it a look thjanks
why is this not the first result in good for destiny time line
sorry for wasting your time this is exactly what i needed tysm
google is Google
and bad websites pay to be first
namely Fandom
I hate that site
we should gift the hive reversible pillows for dawning
or maybe one of those invertible fidgets
i think we should conquer the hive by introducing fidget toys is what i'm saying.
Ooooh this sounds interesting; a good perspective to add in that essay can be the dichotomy between us Guardians and the Witness, as an allegory of cosmic nihilism vs optimistic nihilism and how in the face of an inherently meaningless universe we must make our own definition for living
my essay is about cultivation theory in media, destiny 2 is just my chosen piece to talk about
that is an interesting argument tho
my essay looks at over exposure to media and how if you do nothing but play destiny your outlook on life changes
Ok fr Petra is being such a bitch to Crow for no reason, and I hope Mara and Crow repairing their relationship causes her misery
Huh?
Have we been playing the same season? And the dungeon too?
Petra and Crow have a good dynamic this season I thought
What is Savathun's final wish?
Someone to love
She was like “huh so weird how when we get the Vaguard’s help you’re around Crow” and it felt out of pocket to me
Kek
Pretty much every Guardian works for the Vanguard
Lore wise, hunters don’t really follow what the vanguard says anymore I don’t believe
I could be wrong
Very
Guardians are members of the Vanguard, otherwise they’re just a Lightbearer
It’s a bit true Hunters are very independent compared to Titans and Warlocks but at the same time they’re usually still allied with the Vanguard for the passive bonus of support they give as an organization
They can waver
Ghost states that they bring in more contraband ever since drifter arrived
I mean, they don’t show up in the City as much because they typically don’t like responsibility, however they’re still allied with the Vanguard and doing tasks for it
They just prefer to be out in the wilds doing practical stuff
Ok yeah that makes more sense
That's mainly due to them not wanting to be forced to take the empty Hunter Vanguard seat
pretty sure that concern went away ages ago ever since arrivals happened
hunters preferring the wild was a thing since D1
Cayde references it in his nightstalker speech
When did it change
it never changed it just got dialed up to 11 when Cayde died
even if they were a fresh blueberry with zero tactical skill they fled
the traveler rebuilding itself during arrivals was a signal for everyone to stop worrying about dumb things and refocus, though
now hunters a bunch of lonely losers with purpose
Maybe overthinking this but it’s interesting that all disciples or potential disciples use bladed weapons
Rhulk-glaive
Nezarec-scythe
Calus-cleaver
Oryx/xivu-sword
Savathun-knives
Savathun and knives?
Blade Barrage super
How many big bads really use blunt weapons?
Can't say I ever thought about it
How many blunt weapons do we have? (Besides hammer and arc staff)
New Hunter melee
A throwing knife, except it's not a knife, it's a brick
smoke bomb counts as blunt
hunter staff counts, titan hammers count, titan shield would count, titan fists (both arc and stasis) count, warlocks stasis staff technically counts
Meh
gunpowder gamble does not count
I'd argue lament counts
cuz it's a fucking chainsaw
Which would make it a bladed weapon, it cuts as its main form of damage
Shaxx is the MAN
He is certainly a man at least
what was the black fleet doing before the traveler awakened during Red War?
vibing
alright then....
next question I guess
What is the lore of Warlord's Ruin, ive gotten all the bone dialogue but ive got no idea wtf any of it means
who is Hefnd and Naeem and how is Shaxx related (apart from being literally a warlord)?
Shaxx killed Hefnd. Naeem found Hefnd’s remains and befriended him
also, I thought Hefnd was an Ahamkara, why're they a meatball in the dungeon?
oh
Same way the Siren of Riven or whatever it was called is not literally Riven
so what are they then? just Sirens?
I dunno tbh
Voice of Riven
Was, yes
House of Kings
They killed Naeem, and Naeem’s dying wish was that her vengeance followed them to/beyond their grave’s or something
This specific wording raised the Kings as Scorn after their own deaths
Which is why Fikrul sends some of his own Scorn there as emissaries to bring these new, independent Scorn to him
Before the Witness could get them
So fikrul doesn't serve the witness?
Then why do other scorn serve the witness
That harks back to Presage, funnily enough.
See, the Scorn are unified by a connected mind, originally helmed by Fikrul - and still is, for some.
But Calus ran long and dangerous experiments with the Scorn and the Mars Anomaly, and cracked open their mindspace to the power of the Witness in an attempt to communicate with it.
This is why Presage exists
Some time after the Glykon delved into the anomaly itself, it was spat back out again, full of only Scorn and corpses.
Katabasis and the Cabal tried to stop the event after they realised what Calus had done to them, but...
Oh of course!
What's up buttercup
Sequence is pattern!
It never occurred to me the Glykon shit is why the Scorn started following the Witness
My brain just accepted it simply just…happened
And I never questioned it
While I think that osiris researching the veil stuff is interesting, I think it would be really lame if the deal with Riven goes south and osiris just comes up with a new solution
I feel like that's the way it's going and I don't really like it
Unless our guardian has something direct to do with Osiris'research gameplay-wise, a new solution coming out of left field after all the buildup with the 15th wish would feel really cheap and lame
Osiris is hitting a roadblock right now. What if the wish is what lets Osiris figure out how to follow the Witness?
That’s my theory
Osiris is on the right lines but he’s missing something, and Riven’s wish may give us that something
So turning the 2 options into 1 option?
What's shadow keep about?
Ptsd as a weapon
(The enemy failed to realize we can cope)
moon’s haunted with nightmares and it’s being used against us
the witness was using the latent powers of Nezarec in order to test us to see if we could handle darkness
also Eris was there
Eris moment
Eris enlisted our help in investigating the Lunar Pyramid so we could find out stuff about them before they returned
The indifferent cruelty of the nightmares vs the indomitable human coping mechanism
Also, y'know
The keep
the keep wasn’t really all that important honestly
It's an adjacent threat, both the Pyramid and the Keep were the remenants of Crota's Brood/the Hidden Swarm or whatever trying to raise their forces up
they weren’t even the raid they were just there
so little of a threat we didn’t even try killing them if they weren’t directly in the way of investigating the pyramid
it took Osiris going on a crusade to actually take care of them because we never bothered
The Scarlet Keep strike sucks ass
Should have been the raid site with us fighting our way up the tower instead of a slowass lame elevator
sk in general is just all over the place
its hurt a lot by not having any clear cut bad guy for us to deal with so any motivation the players have is really to just complete it and get it over with
there is nothing really to excite the players except the prospect of entering the Pyramid only to be disappointed by rehashed bosses yet again 💀
Can’t wait for taniks to get brought back as a scorn
So did they just confirm that Petra is the one who shot Uldren or are people right saying both her and the Guardian did
I think Petra definitely shot him, and it’s up to you whether you think the Guardian did too
People seem to be whining about it confirming the Guardian didn’t, but that’s just not true
apparently you're supposed to hear both Ace and Vestian Dynasty fire at the end, but I only ever heard Vestian
What did they mean by this?
I can answer that
Partially
That symbol represents a low oxygen environment
The numbers, however, are unknown to me
So is the sidearm used in low oxygen environments? Is it a low oxygen environment?
Perhaps it uses little oxygen as rocket fuel
Or none
Combustion usually requires oxygen after all
Standard bullets by our modern standards wouldn't work in a vacuum
can you tell me what the synbol is called?
trying to confirm
maybe it is referring to 510 oxygen regulators?
idk
One sec
Oxygen Levels Low
Titan Branding by Dima Goryainov
That Europan facility Variks hides in uses Titan assets, symbols included
I would agree except the symbols are very specific
And the one in game is upside down and the wrong color
true
maybe it means the opposite?
Maybe for breathable air but with conditions which make it difficult to breath
or bungie just pulled some random decal out for flair
definitely wouldn’t be the first time
Probably it
boring answer it might be but life is usually boring
Duhhh, it uses Special Ammo 🙄
What are people's thoughts on the season of the wish story so far?
so what was the deal with rhulk and savathun again? like, why was he in her throne world to begin with? if i'm not mistaken he was sent to subjugate the hive or something, but weren't they already loyal to the witness, even if they didn't know it at the time?
babysitting Sav
Rhulk accidently caused a species the Witness wanted to kill each other to extinction
so he was made to babysit Sav
i see
more specifically he was relegated to that duty because of his failure and the witness wanted Savathun as a disciple
the rest of the hive are essentially just death batteries the witness let loose on the universe for the sake of it
a disciple would actually be worth something
Rhulk was essentially sent to go train his replacement
i thought rhulk was like
stupid strong though?
did the witness not see anything in him on that front, or something
what do you mean by this
if you mean 'he's dead' then well yeah but the witness put him in baby jail before he died
stupid strong as in strong and a fucking moron, yes
he was not smart
he was not the planner
all his feats were because the witness got him to do something
he was ultimately a failure
Savathun is strong in her own way and also a genius
fair enough, i guess
but you'd think having some muscle would come in somewhere
i mean, CALUS became a disciple, the witness isnt exactly vetting these guys very well to begin with
Granted calus has some pretty useful stuff such as cloning
the problem was Rhulk appointing himself in positions where it didn’t help
which is why he was punished
Calus was chosen specifically as a puppet
he himself wasn’t worth much, but he could get the witness more armies to work with
And also serve as a good distraction while it got us and our Ghost into the Veil Containment chamber, where it could link to Ghost and connect to the Veil
I mean the first plan would’ve just been using the radial mast
Calus just being a fat lazy fuck was a double edged sword
easy to manipulate, not easy to motivate
i guess that makes sense. does rhulk know what was going on though or was he just being duped? i dont recall him ever mentioning proving himself to the witness or anything like that, like he doesn't seem to indicate to us that he thinks of the throne world as necessarily being a punishment
he didn’t have a say or care
what’s he going to do? complain?
he followed the witness like a zealot
makes sense when you say it like that ig
so tl;dr he was loyal to the witness, but also kind of an arrogant prick, and acted on his own impulses outside of whatever the witness needed of him
so it put him in baby jail
but he never tried to defy that particular order
He’s a meathead
Which ended up fucking up a lot of the Witness’ smaller plans
Because while it appreciates the cultivation of death, it would also like to have a bit more forces to continue cultivating death and it’s whole social Darwinism schtick
Is stasis ice?
I’m asking because I saw the name of the warlock super was WINTERS wrath and winter has snow and ice
All of the supers have ice related names
Except for hunter
Winters wrath, glacial quake
Still, it’s not really ice as it’s more freezing matter in a way which reflects the crystalline nature of ice, though by definition it is not ice itself
I would check that pin I linked as it has a more in-depth analysis of Stasis, though I’ll link it here as well
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyLore/comments/tb1svc/an_updated_analysis_of_stasis
its "ice related names"
but its not ice
thats kinda the gimmick
Because it’s thematic
