i mean siva as a whole has largely been destroyed or rendered useless
without the main replication chamber on earth, you can't really make any more
Odd question, what about outbreak perfected? Obviously spawning nanites is its whole thing
Is that just for gameplay purposes or could there be a lore implication
Small scale and pre-programmed
But there is a reason why it was locked in the Cryptarchy Vault
And why Eramis broke in to steal it

There will not
There should
the seasonal quest is just us fucking up the gun
so we fix it over multiple weeks
and eventually we add vorpal and rapid hit to the gun
and buff nanite damage by 300%
seasonal guns are we use some leaked nanites to make siva guns
iron lord guns are ass
look at what ib has
theyre useless
so no
They release one seasonal weapon and its felwinters truth or some garbage like that
||Savathûn ghost what she helping us||?
did you not finish this season
that your question really
Immaru? Not particularly. He's kind of at war with us.
If you're referring to the tweet, then "helping" is a stretch, considering our history and such.
It's very relevant, to be fair.
Very, very relevant.
Savathuns revival is scheduled in less then 7 days in fact
The question of what that actually will entail is another thing all together though
synchronize your death watches
Logically you think something like that would make Xivu show up personally
@trim grotto yeah i only see her ghost
Immaru. Well, yes, we can't exactly speak to Savathûn without him.
This is why Waltz asked if you've done the season
already done it
for few months ago
what you think i way behide
i level 154 on my battle pass
Yes, you could be. Or, you may not own it.
I have no idea what your situation is, and that's why Waltz asked.
Shame on you guys
i just finished all story i know what going on
Context clues.. we don't know what's going down yet next season
The Lucent Hive still will be hostile ingame (despite every reason to stop at this point)
ok well this season ended with them basically outright saying savathun was returning
so
the destiny twitter posting a picture of immaru isn't very surprising
In that case - we need to speak to Sav, as you apparently know. Since she's dead, we need her Ghost, Immaru. Thus, the image.
Is it forced? Is it willing?
We'll find out.
thank you Mael
What's your bet on that anyway?
we're probably going to cooperate on something but nobody's going to like it
Like said before, seems like something that Xivu would try and disrupt personally
I'm thinking willing. Ghosts are notoriously fiercely loyal to their Risen.
also we need a basic enemy to be fighting so my money's on scorn
Xivus hiding on the Dreadnought.. so we know she's in Sol
Immaru that his name
Wait so
Yes.
Savs dead, can’t talk to her
Oryx is dead, but he’s still kinda sentient?
it is unironically good insight into his character
opposite
Not sentient. Braindead.
idk what voice as in game
Ah
he's completely braindead but his body's cells are still going thru mitosis
also his worm is gone
Go do a patrol in the Throne World.
You'll hear him.
Thought his worm was the dreadnaught
oh god this again
Darkness= consciousness
gonna suplex whoever spouted this originally
What
@trim grotto oh i remember now
Light has the psychical as its domain
Darkness has the immaterial
Yes I know but how does it relate
Akka, the Worm God. Its corpse was used to create the Dreadnaught.
Oryx's Worm was not Akka. They do not have patron gods. Oryx's Worm was inside of him, same as Sav's was inside her (and became Parasite).
Have.. you payed any attention to Strand or Stasis thematics?
Season is still unknown name wait for showcase start
Ah ok
I haven’t, still don’t see the connection to oryx
Oryx's mind appears to still process the world around it like water through a sieve
no comprehension, but memories are caught, and take form as calcified fragments around his body
but though the body is technically still alive, and the mind too, his actual brain function is braindead.
what about 3rd Dark Subclass that later on future?
We'll get one. We know nothing about it.
So basically
Leave
Brain stasis
leave
delete that and move on
i cannot read
no talks about leaks
we can tell
Anyway
Thematically.. all we have for next season is "Savathun revival"
Lorewise, that should literally take under a minute once Immaru shows
So the actual "mainstay" of the season is unknown
Technically we don’t even have that
For all we know, Savathûn will be saved for last season

Yeah. Just be another case of bad writing if Bungie does delay it
We already had over a month of deliberating in verse if we should do it...
the issue isnt the revival itself
its more so getting immaru on our side
here is my incredibly big brain prediction for next season
the scorn invade the lure
immaru is a wet kitten savathun found in a dumpster
we go there and kill the scorn
gain the trust of immaru
we revive savathun at the end
whatever she does he's going to follow along
nah it'd be funny if it was a sanctioned imperial cabal op we go in and kill again
that would be hilarious
So where is this Immaru tweet?
[Message Link](#bungie-tweets message) to #bungie-tweets
Tweeted
[Embed Link](#bungie-tweets message) to #bungie-tweets
do you know how to spell destiny 2 twitter
Try to avoid all that "X" insanity going on at present
immaru looks so crushable right here ngl
depmpinal 3 twottar
For future reference just use #bungie-tweets
Close enough
the guardian standing in the back about to crush him:
(they are about to end the sol system)
What I miss
a picture of ikora the guardian and immaru chilling
“Oops miss clicks”
Ik, love it
Question
What the fuck are the blue electric thingies that keep on nuking me whenever I feel like I won
And how do they exist
In what
I assume its lucent moths
Well basically the hive normally need to kill to survive and lower ranks tithe to the higher ranks but the light fucks with the process, lucent moths are a byproduct iirc
why did savathun choose to take the crown of sorrow in presage? did she ever do anything with it?
she didn't
The crown of sorrow was in presage(you can see it at the bottom of the ship). It’s how calus spoke to the witness. He shoved a bunch of scorn minds in them. We actually have it in our possession because we used it to do something to the nightmares in season of the haunted
I thought that when savathun was dressed as osiris, they said they'd take it back with them or smth
that's why I was confused why she wanted it
crown was the vendor for haunted
Reading grimoire 3, a few pages in, and I can already tell this is gonna be the best one 🔥 author is spitting straight 🔥
what's the website for all the lore i forgot the name
ishtar collective
Where do I start if I want to learn about the factions? Any lorebooks?
the consensus probably
i've always wanted to "read all the lore" like from start to finish almost but have been intimidated by the lack of a "how to read all d2 lore" guide, is that feasible and how tf do i go abt doing that
you go to the ishtar collective site
look up what you want to read
read everything related to that
there isnt really a first to last chronological order you can follow for like 90% of all the lore books
but
where's the d2 bible lol, i need the "in the beginning"
@wheat latch
i think it should be all of them
well shoot man, how tf did i miss the book links on this
i've been to this page so many times
thanks for making me look at it again and notice the books
not everything savathun did was for a plan
at certain points she just had to act like osiris
reading the entire ishtar collective timeline and then slowly picking through various characters, lorebooks, and grimoires is what I've been doing
i mean it doesn't have to be like a "i have read this, this, this, and this"
most people will forget about books they've read but when they actually look at the text itself it's "oh i remember this"
who's the hunter, if middle and right are Silimar and Felwinter?
maybe it's just me but i sink so much time into this game but i feel like i know nothing abt it, and that annoys me sometimes
most enjoyable way to do it imo is to pick a character you like and read every bit of lore available for them, and then continue reading lore related to them until eventually you've learned a lot
most people don't read the lore so it's ok if you don't know a lot of it
but yeah it feels annoying sometimes
i also want the ego boost of being knowledgable on at least one thing in this game lmao
fr
I present
The Books of Sorrow
well there's also Shattered Suns now
and Unveiling, however accurate it may be now that the Witness' origins are out
That makes it a better bible tbh
Shiro? Was he around then?
Not an iron lord
His wiki page says he fought at Six Fronts but idk if he was around before that
don't know if he'd hang out with the Iron Lords
It's not Efrideet and the other two are named Iron Lords so... Perun or Gheleon?
they both wear cloaks with hoods
My Time... has arrived.
My Queen will rise
In the name of light, in the name of great power against The Witness
The Witch Queen will Rise
Weird
dude is roleplaying 💀
Anyways back to deadness
well that was weird
blud think we in a rp server 🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️
Can anyone explain the Rasputin parts of Grimoire 3/Part 1: Encrypted: Chapter 2: The End That Came Before? Here's as far as I could figure
Skyshock Alert - Rasputin detects the Darkness
Midnight Exigent - prepare to shut down for self preservation reasons
Loki Crown - defining the requirements to warrant a shut down
...from a red space before victory - Rasputin survives the Collapse (what are his brothers and sisters? the other warminds?)
Palisade Imperative - the death of the Iron Lords
Dvalin Forge-2 - considering talking to the Guardians (very unsure about this one)
Sleeper Stimulant - status report: Midnight Exigent is still in progress/Rasputin is still hiding (why?)
Guardians - decides to talk to Guardians
RECORD0828GL98$M27 - the vex arrive? some enemy arrives? idk. this part is the biggest clue -> LOCATION\ASSESSMENT: IO, MERCURY, MARS, TITAN, EUROPA. Mass hostiles detected.
…from a long branch, afire - Rasputin is talking to somene (a little platform) (who?) (Elsie?)
Loki crown iirc was the initial plan to kill the traveler
Dvalin Forge 2 is essentially Rasputin arming us so we could defend key Warmind sites
Dvalin Forge 1 I believe was his original attempt to arm humanity during the Collapse which failed
as for the "RECORD0828GL..." thing
it is referring to the Pyramids arriving in the Sol System
during Season of Arrivals which was just before Beyond Light which took us to Europa
hence why Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars, and Europa are all listed
"If you like being shit-talked by a stress ball with an attitude you're gonna love next week. Hope y'all enjoy the showcase :hearts:"
Bungie is probably going to enjoy teasing us with another Hive Ghost we aren't allowed to crush
only this time said Hive Ghost is the entire cactus
im honestly here for it, i want more aggressive characters in the story
Ghost: My Guardian killed yours straight up and it took the Traveler to save you Immaru. Drifter over there also had Savathun for dinner
Drifter snuck into the facility where they were hiding Savathun's body so he can cut a piece off of her to cook and eat.
and he was successful because Eris let him get away with it just so she could see what would happen
eris be the type of person to let someone eat a hive worm without warning
Yeah what happened to Savathun’s body
the Hidden took it and are keeping it in a secure facility
Eris Morn even did an autopsy on it
I see now
they are also basically doing the same approach with Oryx's body
Yep
though, I firmly believe that destroying Oryx's body is a better idea
Im sure theres lots of protein in those bad boys
What
Guys is there any meaning with the class symbols like titans shield and warlocks mountains?
Yes and no.
Hunters and Warlocks have no specific given meaning. Titans, however, do.
The four pieces represent the four Titan orders defending the City during Six Fronts - represented by the six sides of the logo.
The successful end to the Battle of Six Fronts is considered by some to be beginning of the City Age - the first true victory of the Last Safe City of Earth.
Wasnt the battle of six front won by the iron lords?
seem to remember that while there were iron lords present, they didn't do all the fighting.
That's correct.
The Iron Lords were present, but no, the key members of the battle were the Titans of the City.
Does the four orders still exist now?
I'm joking
To varying degrees. The Orders aren't often heard of nowadays.
Firebreak was there, which Sloane is a part of (plus Stoneborn). Radagast was, apparently, leading some of the Firebreak order. I don't know who else was there apart from the Order of the Chain, who have extraordinarily little lore on them.
I like how the origin of sunbracers has something to do with a titan order
The Sunbreakers, yes. Wielders of the Hammer of Sol.
The Sunbracers - also known as Sunbreakers because Liu Feng is very original - were created by a Sunbreaker themselves. She's the known member of that order, I believe.
I wonder how Liu's doing.
Wait a titan made a warlock exotic?
Warlocks make titan exotics all the time you know
Mask of Quiet One, Severance Enclosure
also, I think Liu Feng is a Hunter
Wait what? It aint fair we cant use what we made.
She was a Sunbreaker. A mercenary from days before the City. Not like the new Lights from the Tower. She was weary. But there was no rest out here, where the City Lights didn't reach.
Wei Ning, a titan, also made Fighting Lion
Pretty much all of the orders are
The stoneborn more or less died where they stood on the wall during the red war
Is there any correlation that a certain race would be predisposed to be a certain class? Like liu feng wei ning both chinese and are incredible titans
Huh… i’ll read about him. Not to sound stereotypical but drifter looks asian and he fits hunter vibes
Drifter is not any of the classes
and I'm pretty sure he is canonically Asian
heard something about it
Her.
But no, not really.
Why does everyone speak English/the selected language except Rasputin apparently
Rasputin likes to be special.
Also, apparently there's a Guardian going around mocking Fallen in French-Canadian while killing them.
Lmao link?
Damn where’d your arms go eh bud? hand cannon shot
Sunbracers lore said liu feng gave them to a bright warlock. Was it osiris? Or did he make a copy based off the original sunbracers?
—
Namrask thunders into the warren on all sixes, crying out, "We must go! Death walks the ice!"
Oeriks, Eoriks, and Yriks spread the word. More come than Namrask dared to hope. He warns them, "We must hide close to the Machine-spawn and steal supplies, or radiation and Ether-lack will bring us down."
They leave. But not an hour later, a rifle ro...
Speaks nothing like Osiris. Just an unnamed Warlock.
I have some questions about osiris. In the cinematic where he freezes time and the surrounding vex starts to move and he goes into daybreak mode, there was a moment he uses a gun; does anyone know what gun was it?
And I remember saint 14 died in the infinite forest so how is he alive again?
Let's see
Pretty sure Osiris was using one of the old Mercury guns, but I'll need the screenshot to make sure
And since osiris lost his light but with his understanding and research of the darkness cant he use stasis?
As for Saint, that was the entire Season of Dawn, and the Perfect Paradox
He was already saved yet already dead
The TL;DR is that Osiris made a time machine to save Saint, and it didn't work, the Cabal found it, and nearly shattered time across all of Sol. We fixed it, were the key to finding Saint, and retroactively tied a separate timeline to ours like weaving a thread into fabric.
So, we saved a version of Saint from the Martyr Mind in the Infinite Forest in the past. Few centuries later, in the present, he finds his way out,and voila.
wasn't the Perfect Paradox the key
probably because of the Infinite Forge
Garden Progeny, I think. One of those old Mercury guns, anyway.
since that was how we got it originally
He theoretically could, if he got trained by Elsie and had a Splinter to train with.
Techically may not even need a Splinter, but that remains to be seen
The eagle/hawk/crow emblem of warlocks has nothing to do with ashraven of the iron wolves right? Similarly the lion and snake?
Eagle, Lion, and Snake are all representative of their respective Guardian Class
Iron Wolves is specifically the Iron Lords rather than a class
Osiris hates being the fragile old man with no spare lives so technically he could be tankier with woven mail or stasis overshields. I dont like him being a non combatant like the Speaker.
he is still capable, but a lot more vulnerable
though Strand can be very useful for him
so far, we haven't seen him use Stasis though
The Speaker wasn't even a Lightbearer to be fair. Just a man.
He did coach the guardian how to embrace strand instead of forcing it like stasis so maybe he does have the knowledge of it
osiris still has one life left, no respawns for him
Damn, in my mind he was a warlock
Maybe bcuz he taught Osiris that why i made that connection
wasn't it Felwinter who was Osiris' mentor?
Ya the speaker taught him a bit too when osiris went in the city
Correct
Not really. They were... colleagues. Coworkers, in a way.
A mad scientist and a head priest
they then had a huge falling out when Osiris spread his prophecies
I'd say they are rivalling prophets
Speakers dead, and the Warlock aint a Warlock anymore
Osiris and his prophecies and the Speaker and his cryptic Traveler dreams
The true sign of a great warlock is to be mad. Toland and osiris for examples
TBF: Speaker was intentionally holding back info
Red War dream and the whole Mars Futurescape
Speaker tried to teach him patience, to little avail
The best voices never let themselves be heard after all
and it is a lesson worth learning time and time again
Too busy cleaning up the messes the other voices create lol
How many times have we cleaned up osiris messes?
Tbf he was right about the vex
And its not his fault he got possessed… i think
Still feels weird he couldnt solo a celebrant
Pride the downfall of many men
he could have taken the Celebrant if not for Xivu Arath showing up
her presence alone was overpowering Osiris so Sagira had to explode herself to purge the area of it
Lets see if Xivu decides to show up when we resurect Savathun
Damnit the taken king would be a great ally to go against the witness
She's on her own side. We're hoping we can temporarily ally ourselves.
And, no.
Does anyone really understand what happened at the end of Plunder?
Mithrax heard whispers from the relics (Nezarec's corpse) which guided him on how to diffuse the primordial Darkness from within them into a "tea" which wakes Osiris up from the coma Savathun put him in.
- Has "primal Darkness" ever come up before/what even is it 2. What were the Whispers (Nezarec/Witness/Winnower/etc.?) 3. Where did the conclusion to give it to Osiris come from, was it just the growing knowledge of its association with conscious/memory?
Not really.
Nezarec, probably. But all Darkness stuff has a tendency to whisper.
Pretty much. That, and Misraaks's familiarity with the relics.
The "primal Darkness" bit is still what bothers me the most
It was Nezzy's own body. But otherwise,
maybe as a last ditch effort to try and get to the Veil?
Primordial Light is within the Traveler
it is where its terraformation ability is derived from
right
and since the Veil is literally the Dark Traveler, it has primordial Darkness within it
Ok so the point im trying to get at is shouldn't the veil visually have some of this darkness energy?
Someone on reddit told me it was "invisible" but idk it just feels off to me
What's saying it doesn't
Darkness comes in many forms. And yes, it does radiate an invisible energy.
the energy the veil produces
well, Darkness is supposed to be non-physical
All forces of darkness can be seen as originating from a non-physical force
Deepsight is memories
Deepsight - memory
Stasis - emotion
that works
just look at Memories (opposite of Nightmares)
Strand is everywhere but was only made physical after embracing it
and absurd amounts of darkness energy
they literally have the Altar of Reflection color palette
Strand seems to be the embodiment of conciousness in general
Well with the light we have its various forms Arc/Solar/Void yet the Traveler itself has consistently (mostly final red war and opening lightfall scene i suppose) had that bright white light energy as its base
I mean I suppose we havent seen the Veil enough to know for sure what its capable of
well, it ain't good that's for sure
I mean we have seen what it can do
Im mostly just trying to theorize why it has light shining down from it on its lower half and it forms that sphere shape with its tendrils
If we take the Traveler's power over the physical realm as pure light
it "winnowed" all over the Exodus Indigo exos
let's see, the Witness' species went crazy after finding it
same thing happened with Maya Sundaresh
Then the Veil's ability to combine minds and drive people insane
pure darkness perhaps
not sure it directly combines them
word is on my tongue
it is described as a "Cosmic Collective Consiousness" though
simplifying?
Amalgamate
you think the Veil told Maya that the unenlightened masses cannot make the judgement call?
OUT
someone said the light shining out of the Veil's spout is from it being focused from the lights shining down on the top half which was an interesting idea
to give up free will forever, their voices won't be heard at all?
I am never running a dungeon with you again
2013 was 10 years ago damn
let your country control your mind
But yeah Traveler and Veil both display massive power over their forms of the universe
LIVE IN IGNORANCE AND PURCHASE YOUR HAPPINESS
Is it safe to assume that resonance is more a product of the Witness then
the powers we see used are manifestations off-shooting from the source
WHEN BLOOD AND SWEAT IS THE REAL CAUSE
Not an idea
Resonance is uh
We aren't sure
Has something taken control of Dova
I'd argue that resonance is a form of Light
2013
fr?
I'll take your word for it
the joke is that the Veil is a Cosmic Collective Conciousness and I am singing a song called "Collective Conciousness" which appeared in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Most stuff referring to Resonance is weird
because the most notable use of Resonance is the pyramids
which were made by the blessing of light
Hm
Let me use another example, in Prophecy and RoN, Light is respresented both times as that general white light, but for darkness in one its that smokey "primal darkness" look and the other its the resonance seeds
I'm mainly going off of a concept art that showed Terraformation and Resonance as opposites in regards to the Explicator in RoN
The pyramids just being made by the Witness culture pre-Veil is kinda lame to me
well maybe not lame but...a bit too coincidental?
as well as the idea that Terraformation is a creative (or additive) power while Resonance can be seen as a destructive (reductive) one
Like the first traveler race that turns evil also just happened to have this super evil looking architecture?
idk
so while the Traveler uses Light in a creative way, the Pyramids use it in a destuctive one
the architecture wasn't the evil bit it was the speakers they attached to it
those subwoofers truly are dangerous
Surely the next seasons and TFS will give me all the answers I need to my silly little continuity questions
were they not evil in the first place?
they always wanted purpose
they just found that in the final shape
More when they started to desire more
It's how Humans and the first species were different
i don't think their ideals ever changed
Humans traveled towards the stars
the first desired a purpose
all this
yet silence from the god they worshipped
also i wouldn't say that their architecture is of the light in any way
I'm still wondering what exactly the Witness saw through the Veil that gave it the idea of the Final Shape
Going from being afraid of potential cataclysms caused by the Traveler to mass genocide of civilizations it blesses is kinda a weird move tho ngl
just how human advancements during the golden age might not directly use the light
maybe Unveiling was its interpretation of what it saw in through the Veil
massive simplification
It was more of a
How is this described
Doomer approach I guess
Universe is an imperfected mess that needs to be winnowed into the correct shape
I'd say it was not one thing
they saw the whole universe, and realized they needed to "carve away its chaos"
Life isn't worth living and as such must be recreated
The cataclysm of light was kinda the final straw
I'm guessing it isn't anything that keeps the mind sane
Maya went crazy from it
Imagine that but with an entire species
Bungie is introducing the idea that something else could be listening through the Veil
would have been a bit more sympathetic if anything bad actually happened to the Witness race via The Traveler
kind of like Sauron seeing through that orb thign Saruman pondered
I don't think they're meant to be sympathized with
they are trying to kill us
No but villians are sometimes a bit more interesting when they are at least half correct
They're a collective being attempting to exact their desire upon the entire universe
based on an interpretation they decided upon
just have a villain who is a total prick
Nez is more interesting than the Witness to me honestly
nothing redeeming and does evil shit to an illogical degree
what took you so long?
IDIOT
Understanding the Witness is something of a bad idea
Alien entity with godlike power
we can understand its origins
But the entity itself is a different story
Is there any real example of the Traveler fucking shit up to the degree they saw via the veil
besides like, warlords I guess
I guess the terraform beam
Keep in mind things like thunderstorms can be attributed to a kind of light energy
Alien worlds
not everything is that simple
Ares One movie
make it happen Bungie
so now that chioma is gone what do you think the veil logs for next season are
Other than the Shard, Collapse and Lightfall battle, no.
maybe logs from Maya herself before she died
Collapse including things like the kugelblitz of the Exodus Green
would help us figure out what exactly Maya tried to do that got herself killed
yeah that would be interesting
i was thinking something from a future generation that uncovered maya's research
could shed Light on what exactly causes the Veil to have a "winnowy" effect on people
like surely someone noticed that the veil room has a bunch of weird chairs in it right
place hasn't been touched in a long time
but like anytime it was like "Oh no the travelers indifference caused a tsunami that killed everyone"
wait yeah forgot that facility wasn't visible until calus kinda wrecked the place over it
makes me wonder how exactly they got the CloudARK set up
he could of done that the ENTIRE time
Only thing that comes to mind is the blatant lies of the Worm Gods on Fundament, to the proto-Hive.
So, no.
just break into Veil Containment and take the Veil while his forces still had complete control over the area
I guess the warlords and the witness itself ironically are arguments for why the travelers influence can be not so great
instead he sat on his ass while we were able to make a comeback
but no like volcanos I've seen destroying citys due to the traveler
didn't he not know where it was until then for some reason
can't even call it the Traveler's influence
i remember him "finding" the veil like halfway through
his forces had control over the Veil Containment area for a while until Rohan destroyed the Radial Mast
he knew it was there
also ig he needed the radial mast to be there?
Technically, they're a result of the lack of influence.
No guidance.
Free will.
not unless you are patient and a specific person it chooses to speak to
his plan was to link the veil with the mast, but the witness ended up using our ghost instead
and as the Traveler said, it is never her choice, only ours
Thats the irony there.. Warlords were effectively the Witness fears made manifest
Just odd to fear the traveler due to its potential to "wipe out an entire civilization in a heartbeat due to the events it set in motion" but then go wipe out civilizations as a response?
Why was all the genocide even necessary if all they needed to do was find the traveler and link the Veil
Fallen survived.. despite having the Traveler
And the races the Hive eliminated in the past have been revealed to have more to them then the Books of Sorrow mentioned... like the fact they used darkness
Have shit like Rhulk true.. but it seems like his species had already nuked itself after the Traveler left? Might be the Witness being petty
basically yeah
How much wiping out has the Witness done personally
Basically none
It's been disciples most of the time
What's the gardener?
If you are reading unveiling
The gardener is what the Witness' people called the traveler
Gardener=Traveler
Winnower=Veil
I'm trying to get my bearings on the intro paragraph on the timeline
Winnower =/= veil
The veil is the dark equivalent to the traveler but it is not necessarily the winnower
Asha directly refers to the fact that the Witness people saught a Winnower and "found" it in the Veil
If nothing else it's the closest equivalent
The witness is the winnower
I'm confused cuz it says "travelers" at the beginning then mentions "Traveler fled" and my brain said, "nah, me no compute now"
Unveiling is propaganda anyway
In the ancient past, on an unknown world, weary travelers arrived in the desert to discover a great machine. They called it The Gardener. In unearthing the strange entity, they were blessed with a golden civilization for thousands of years. But in time, they craved meaning from their machine god, and discovered another entity among the stars, The Veil. Through the Veil, they found the means to become the winnowers they longed for. By joining the Traveler and Veil, a portal could be created to a realm where they could re-shape reality. But the Traveler fled from this. To chase after their machine god, they used the power of Darkness they'd learned from the Veil to join their minds together. To become the Salvation they craved. To become the Witness.
^ ishtar collective intro paragraph
Is this the witness' people?
Yes
the name traveler was given by humanity literally because of a basketball game
Yep.
The Witness is quite literally an entire race combined into one gestalt entity
And capital T Traveller is our traveler
it has no bearing before humanity's golden age
Yes
So the gardener is capital T Traveller to the witness' people
Yep
By all appearances the Witness people were the first race the Traveler uplifted
Okay
Definitely were
We're getting somewhere
The traveler was embedded in the ground
(And no we don't have a name for that race)
Why was the traveler just chilling inside the Witness' planet
unless the traveler was having a beach day
Oh that's cool
What do they mean by " become the winnowers they longed for"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0CKckjryVI Here's the cutscene from this season that explains it
"Before you can confront The Witness, you must understand it."
This cinematic features art created by community artist Julian Faylona, @ELEMENTJ21 on Twitter.

Might make more sense
My poor data plan won't let me watch that rn
Oh okay
So basically
The Witness' people, in the absence of purpose given by the traveler, desired a winnower to shape the garden
They were huge nihilists
Basically a garden is only a garden with someone to trim the hedges
That's the purpose of the winnower
the witness' civilization had the traveler for ages but got bored of their infinite prosperity
To cut the metaphor
Basically the Witness is trying to hijack the universe to reshape it in it's image
Really lonf
they wanted a purpose
when they found the veil they decided upon one
it's a cringe one
See I'm just super confused cuz Google says this abt winnowing " Winnowing is a process by which chaff is separated from grain." Lmao
I think youre taking it too literally
You ever pull weeds from a garden?
Thats also winnowing
I tend to do that a lot
O lol
it'd be better for you to not just read the first result
There's also the fact the story is still on-going
"guidelines that would help winnow out those not fit to be soldiers"```
```find or identify (a valuable or useful part of something).
"amidst this welter of confusing signals, it's difficult to winnow out the truth"```
We literally didn't know the Witness origin till 2 months ago
Still more to the story like all of Savathuns antics
So a Gardener and Winnower can be the same entity in reality.
In Destiny.. The Traveler really doesn't like killing
Ergo the Witness issue...
So when the traveler saw the power the witness' people had with the veil and the traveller together it was afraid of what they would use it for?
The implication is the Witness is fully capable of hijacking the Light itself
It wants to reshape the universe into its "Final Shape"
"it" being what, the witness or the traveler
the witness is the only one who rants about the final shape
For all the big deal about the portal... we haven't seen what the Witness is actually doing beyond it..
Besides bringing back Cayde apparently
the point of the traveler is that no active move is taken
cultivates and then lets things develop on their own
the collapse, end of the red war, and the beginning of LF were the only times the traveler acted out against another party
everything else had just been very limited communication or literally nothing
doubt the witness is bringing back cayde
Do we know what the final shape is? Ik the witness is a nihilist so does that mean they wanna just thanos snap everyone?
Are we going to team up with savathun in the final shape?
There's an exception to that rule that's been pretty consistent
Every time something tries to hijack the light directly.. it reacts. But not before then... to the point the cage was slapped on it but it took months for it to break it
more so cayde is on the other side
crab (real and canon) (Triton Vice lore)
The dialog makes it seem like it
"No, not squids. Crabs, obviously! The perfect organism! The form toward which all life inevitably converges! Even on Nessus—"
What.
Lol
not completely, we're making a deal with her
that was because we were able and capable of fighting back
it's only at the point where Ghaul in his entirety is comprised of stolen light that the traveler intervenes
ghaul just wearing a backpack that siphoned light didn't really count
Yep
Also the incident of Traveler self destructing a ghost with Rhulk
It never did that to any ghost caught by the Hive (Ask Eris Fireteam)
So was reacting to something else other then as a "mercy kill"
i've said it before
Rhulk being Rhulk while also proclaiming he's more than worthy of the light is a different situation than any random hive
Ikora be dream walking then
he literally outright says he was trying to claim the light for himself
its not a dream it's the akashic records
We are probably getting more direct info on akashic records with the showcase and new season in 5 days
Whats that again?
The united memory/conciousness of all beings?
That's all I remember
record of everything from the past present and future
it's not a destiny concept
the season yeah, i doubt we'll have big lore revelations in the showcase
anyways how does that guardian enter the portal
they seem to not be doing anything different from what joxer did
so we have to assume that whatever savathun tells us to do is doing something to the portal, and not a different way of entry
what is savathun gonna have us do
hive rituals?
Oh. I knew it was not a destiny thing. But I thought it had to do with conciousness
I do those in my spare time
Has anyone other than hive used hive magic? Eris is the only person I can think of that may, idk for sure
Mara technically when she created her throne world
but that was through shenanigans
also Toland
I’m assuming you don’t remember the time she got atomized during taken king along with her whole fleet
well basically she knew directly facing oryx would just be suicide but he would’ve just driven straight to earth otherwise
so she had him waste a bit of power and resources taking out her fleet
due to this and just general benefits Mara planned to make a throne world through shenanigans
though because she literally died she was out of the picture for a while
which led to riven getting (semi) taken and the dreaming city being infested
also uldren’s descent into madness and the subsequent deaths of thousands of awoken and Eliksni alike
And the death of funny robot man
nobody cares about robot man
I didn't know Mara was the type of person to sacrifice so much for us
she’s literally only a character in the story because she’s that type of person
in the distributary, the pocket dimension where the awoken originate from, they’re literally immortal and completely sealed off from the outside universe
Mara and her followers made the conscious decision to leave all of that behind to help humanity
Wow, I always thought Mara was more "I will put up with your presence to stop wrong doing"
Lol
that’s just because she didn’t really respect the traveler
that and her first experience with a guardian was a recently dead awoken who she had to watch fail to recognize any of his loved ones while complaining about boring things
we’re basically the sole reason Mara is where she is now as a person
I mean there’s a whole history with the nine but nobody cares about them
they’re losers
That's cool, never knew that
did you also know Mara practically founded a parasocial cult when she was human
Is the exodus greens remnants in the distributary?
I don’t even remember if that was the ship they came in on
I think it was
but I’m pretty sure Mara and all the other awoken had to reform their bodies after they were just completely destroyed
so I have no idea
Ah
I don't believe we know
Yes it was the exodus green that the awoken were on
Aha
- I like how the file name for this image is literally "Immaru_back_baby.png"
- I wonder where this cutscene occurs
looks a lot like Scarlet Keep
or maybe it is that one spot in the Throne World where we access the Altar of Reflection
Honestly it looks like the nightmare realm in Duality
☠️
jason jones had to change the name to blam because he didnt want to tell his mom that hes making a game called monkey balls
☠️
I hope this season has a lot of sass between characters, Immaru is perfect for starting something with an offhanded comment, or maybe his VA won't be apart of the main cast.
I think might be in one of the story areas in the throne world
Temple of Wrath maybe?
Scarlet Keep, Throne World underground, perhaps an unknown hive structure
I concur with this
Throne world makes sense given the context
Temple of Wrath makes sense given Xivu's involvement
Temple of Wrath is on the throne world
It's the one in the big tower
Where you parkour to the top and then fight through like 3 levels all the way down
referring to between the Keep and the Underground
Lemme boot up the game and go do some detective work
Very similar but not quite the same
have you checked the area where we first access the Altar of Reflection?
I forgot what the area was called exactly
Witch's Echo right?
could be there
Good question I got dragged off by a friend to play SQUAD so Ill come back to that in maybe like 3-4 hours
That probably is the area. Just bungie removing some geography-lighting changes for cutscene
Nah the wall lighting is too short and there isn't any lamps anywhere
Definitely on the right track though
you also need to look at the wall
Yeah this stuff is correct but it's all half-height and ground level
So it's not that specific room
if it is the Throne World, then it has to be either in the Witch's Echo area, Temple of Cunning area, or Temple of Wrath area
though I think we already ruled out Wrath
It isn't the lowest level
so Wrath is still a possibility, but more narrowed
I haven't looked at the 2nd or 3rd levels in detail, I was just gunning it all the way down
hmmm
currently in Witch's Echo rn
the area seems like a good candidate
the red glowing walls
also the red glowing tank
Ok, I think I found the spot
In Witch's Echo in the center of the last room to the right
Ignore the torches, they are meant for a chest puzzle
Lots of details line up, the two glowing tanks, the wall, the circular carving on the floor, and the diagonal pillar to the right
Lighting is different though
Oh you right that is the same spot
watch as Savathun is causally offscreen to the left
maybe her body is placed there, would be an ideal spot
since this shot is right beside the center of the room
Dova over here predicting seasonal quests a little too well
Just gotta see what the season will actually entail
Savathun revival can happen in less then 5 seconds with immaru there
I like how when I started thinking about where the screenshot was, this area in Witch's Echo was my first idea as to where it was
(She kills ikora which leads to the heaven in the traveler thing with cayde, trust me
)
upon revival, she sees us and just starts laughing since she knows we are desperate to come to her only for her to then realize what that means
Vex antics maybe
Need a method to actually utilize the portal after all
Hive armor
Vex ornaments
What I would guess
one season dedicated to stealing Vex resources to open the portal [tie into the Black Heart?]
second season dedicated to clearing up the homefront and loose ends.. .aka.
Killing Xivu
we already did that in Undying
we took Vex materials to make a device to hook onto a Vex gate in the BG where we were able to drag out the Undying Mind and kill it enough until all of its copies were destroyed
Gonna be pretty fun hearing Savathun in our mission comms
can't wait to hear Immaru recite his list of slurs against Lightbearers
"Neon Nerd"
"Fluorescent Fleabag"
Ghost:The Neon Nerds are over in Neomuna actually
the proceeding message from Immaru was deemed too offensive to keep in any city archive
Immaru was also banned from the CloudARK as a result
But yeah.. thats the one thing I hope they dont do
Make up some bullshit so that Immaru cant revive Savathun right away
Whats the lore behind the Iron Lords?
you know about the Dark Age right?
all i know is the Drifter always talks about it
the Dark Age was the era right after the Collapse
and before the City Age which began when the Last City was established
the Dark Age was when Guardians (referred to as "Risen" back then) started to appear
at this point, they were largely disorganized with many becoming Warlords who ruled over territory often with an iron fist
essentially feudalism
then, a group of Risen decided to band together to put an end to the bloodshed caused by Warlords and to unite humanity
started by Lord Radeghast, these Risen would be known as the Iron Lords
eventually, the Warlords would either be killed off or would surrender for the sake of a better future and the encampment that would become the Last City would start to develop
the Iron Lords would soon meet their end however
one Iron Lord, Lord Felwinter, was secretly Rasputin's son who the Warmind wanted dead out of jealousy
so Rasputin used Felwinter's desire to help the early Last City against him and used SIVA as a lure
Felwinter sought it out since he knew it could be instrumental in building up the Last City
however, when him and the rest of the Iron Lords reached Site 6, where SIVA was kept, Rasputin unleashed it against them like a plague alongside his own defenses
only a handful of the Iron Lords would reach the replication chamber where they were able to seal it away. Lord Saladin was the only survivor and the last remaining Iron Lord (other than Lady Efrideet, but she left the lords prior for her pacifist group)
I think this sums it up pretty much @broken zephyr
jesus
Vanguard before vanguard and also warlords before (idk Dredgen or something?)
Shadows of Yor are an entirely different sort than Warlords
Dredgen Yor
Oh
once legendary Titan Rezyl Azzir who grafted a Hive bone to his hand cannon
then got corrupted and went on a Guardian killing spree in the crucible
Corrupted by what?
killing Crucible legend, Thalor, and eccentric Hunter, Pahanin
by the Hive bone he grafted onto his hand cannon are you even reading?
the Hive bones of a witch that cursed him
Hush hive bones are weird
the Hive knight he killed to get that bone was a wizard's fiance
that wizard also prophesized Azzir's downfall
anyways, after his carnage, Dredgen Yor would end up at Palamon, where he would burn the town down, and would kill the original owner of the Last Word, Jaren Ward
Was it dark blade knight?
as a result, this would set a younger Shin Malphur down the path of vengeance
no, you are thinking of Alak-Hul and Verok
Ah
the wizard that cursed him is Xyor
in the end, Shin Malphur would kill Dredgen Yor at Dwindler's Ridge
fun fact, this was originally painted as a climatic duel when in reality, Shin just blasted Yor with a Golden Gun while he was monologuing
Think that’ll be a pvp spot one day? The ridge
this is probably my favorite fun fact tbh
not the rabbit embryo?
what the hell is even that
Or the cow thing
a rabbit embryo
That killed an astronaut
the existence of the Awoken was caused by a rabbit embryo
Mara, before becoming Awoken, saw a man die in the vacuum of space because a rabbit embryo flew right into his face
for reasons that aren't specified, this made her convince her Mom to bring her and the rest of the family onto the Exodus Green of Project: Amrita
the Exodus Green would then be caught in a singularity made from a paracausal calamity where the passenegrs and crew would be destroyed and reborn as the Awoken
lmao ain't no way
it's real
okay this is my 2nd favorite fun fact
here's another one, Oryx was canonically referred to as "The Nightmare Daddy"
By drifter?
Damn
I like that one
I think by Marcus Ren's ghost, Didi
Ah
yep
it was a play written by her
Hunter moment
just read this
one of the funniest lore entries in the game
Lord Shaxx calls it: "Undeniably enthusiastic, I'll grant you that. But is the dialogue meant to come across so… sexually charged?"
tells you all you need to know about it
Oh Jesus
And thats from the man Mara Sov used a wish dragon to summon.... for him to read Shakespeare
Is this where the shaxx helmet thing came from?
yes
Shaxx was probably the only person to give that play any sort of praise
lol
Suggestion:We torment Immaru to working with us by making him watch the play... on repeat
We make him read the chronicon
make him hold a conversation with the Titans from the Guardian Games lore
btw i think the most underrated "joke" in lore is "it will do all the pooping for you"
that one's just cringe
Ikroa va young wolf
Calus: "Wait, we figured this out once"
i laughed because it's right at the end of the first entry in a pretty emotional lore book
next season spoiler: Savathun is hitting the griddy
well...
we see that they can rez Awoken, Human, and Exo
but as of Witch Queen, we can add Hive to the list
however, not just any human/awoken/exo/hive can be rezzed
in terms of who specifically can be rezzed, we aren't sure what determines it
could be completely random for all we know
or maybe the Traveler uses its precognitive abilities to decide based on potential
as for anyone else, no as far as we know
we have not seen any Eliksni, Cabal, and Vex as lightbearers thus far
and evidence to me points that the Traveler has simply not allowed them to be rezzed yet
Vex probably never will be rezzed
HUUUH
There we go
whats xur
Xur was, as far as we can tell, once a member of a Jovian colony who willingly presented himself to the Nine.
They reformed him into the Agent, but they do not well know how life works, and in his reformation they remade him poorly. He is dying. But nevertheless, he is their Agent, and he does the will of the Nine.
No
What does this symbol mean? I've seen it on a lot of guns. Is that like the foundry that made em? o.o
i think its like
city made
because all 3 playlist vendor weapons has some guns of this logo
and does look pretty generic
ex. crowdpleaser(gambit) autumnwind(cruci) namelessmid(vang)
suggests so
because something on the doors in the arcology is similar
i know what you're thinking of
Hold up
I'm the symbol guy for this
Oh yeah that's it
This symbol is found everywhere across human designed technology, everywhere from the Golden Age facilities of the Arcology to the City tech made nowadays. It is very vague on meaning, but can effectively be reduced to "human tech" as far as symbol definition goes.
it's not the same symbol in the arcology doors
It's the new amazon logo
They are the true masterminds of everything
For anyone ever curious about my title, it actually does have meaning
The Deatiny Symbol Archive is one of my projects
can i see it
No, since I'm at work and busy, and the references were from the old Arcology
But I'll look around the new ones and see if I can find a modern example
“can i see it”
“No”
aurora borealis
But as a trace
Gold star if you recognise what this is from
actually no the bag from the Beyond Light collectors edition
⭐ yayy
🌟
i win all lore
The exotic was an aeons
Pre buff aeons
Tricksters engrams were real, but they were all either
Eternal warrior
Apothese veil
And a hunter cloak
You died from emotional anguish
They were d1 engrams
And decrypted into a blue
(Yes that could happen incredibly rarely, engrams could decrypt up to 2 rarities higher or lower at ASTRONOMICALLY LOW chances)
the deatiny
deatiny symbol archive
DEATINY 2 LE GAME!
Mobile is hard and I am bad
Deetiny the game
deetoo
thats so much better, theres even two of them god
i had no idea where it was from but those dots gave me beyond light vibes idk why
I picked up it might be Beyond Light related from the “Galileo” thing
