The Vanguard doesn't actually use military ranks such as Captains. Until the in-game system of Guardian Ranks, no such system of any kind was ever alluded to. It was simply a matter of experience, clans and factions such as Sunbreakers and Hidden and so on, and the leading body that is the Vanguard itself.

That said, one of those factions or clans may use old military ranks themselves should they so desire. It would not hold much bearing outside of its own faction, however.

Generally, Rage subclass is not tied to Darkness, because it was forged from trauma and anger from the past war, there's nothing more that Darkness could corrupt on this subclass because it was corrupted enough lol

Just like Urshenkov himself, he's so brutal in World War 2, like Soviet version of doomguy but more merciless and out of his mind, Darkness would take a look on him and went like "What's wrong with this guy?"

But you know? The Vanguard generally ban the Rage subclass, but except if the guardians were trained enough by the Fireteam Of Rage, the fireteam that Urshenkov lead, the training was needed for the guardian to control their emotion and use their anger as a weapons, if not, they would completely succumb onto the madness of anger that Rage Subclass offer
