Your best bet is to scroll through the collections tab, see what you like the look of, and search up how to obtain it

"Cool stuff" varies person-to-person. There's tons of armor that I think looks wack that other people adore

Raids and dungeons (whilst hard for beginners) is a nice place to get "cool" armor sets according to many, I recommend Vault of Glass or Prophecy

You can also wait for whenever Iron Banner rolls around again, it's got some kickass armor sets

I would say that yours is distinct enough.

The only part that’s the same is the cloak and the exotic.

I was doing a similar thing with my own star eaters fashion until I completely changed directions and tried to focus on the tech aspect of the exotic.

i’m pretty new to the game so this may seem like a stupid question but why not use an exotic weapon?

i’ve noticed a lot of people use 2 legendaries with the gold border what is that

Yellow border means it's a masterworked weapon

Every weapon (except for austringer for some reason) will drop with a random masterwork, and you can level up the masterwork with materials in order to boost one stat, such as range, handling, blah blah blah, if you get it to 10. That will make a gold border appear

People running all legendaries if prob because they're leveling up deepsight, a mechanic that allows them to choose what perks they want on their gun. There's a tutorial for it in-game

typically for armor, you're just looking for stats you want. If you want resilience, keep armor with high resil and whatnot (you can put a mod on your ghost to make one stat drop higher than others). You can always dismantle armor if you get a better roll, it'll give you some leveling materials back. If you like your rolls, masterwork everything. You get a +2 to every stat on a piece you masterwork. As for mods, use whatever fits your build, and stat mods to either round out stats to a multiple of 10 or increase a stat.
