Contest Mode. When the raid launches, for the first some amount of time (has been 48 hours the last few years, but the last few years the contest has started on Fridays and this year is on Saturday so it might just be 24 hours) a more difficult version of the raid is available (-20 power disadvantage on top of no one knowing how the raid works). There's a race where teams compete to be the world's first clear of the raid. The winning team is guaranteed the raid exotic, and anyone who clears during the contest window gets a unique emblem.

In short, it's the only reason to dedicated any time to "prep" for Edge of Fate over completing content going away on the 15th, and if you're not already planning to do the contest, I would not recommend spending time assembling a hail mary loadout.

WIth Armor 3.0 only specific stat combos will be possible. Weapon+Super (Mobility+Intellect) is not possible in the launch archetypes, so people are farming those rolls now while it's still possible.

Hoil + Syntho is good with the Lightning Surge build, which is currently juiced from the artifact. There's a pretty good chance it'll continue to be good with the stat changes so it's still worth having post-artifact.

Hoil + SES is a better "neutral" roll since it'll be beneficial in nearly any Prismatic build.

Necrotic + SES is good for maximizing Song of Flame damage, as well as making your normal melees more potent.

Hoil + Verity is another one I've seen mentioned for grenade spam builds, but haven't actually tested myself.

However, many Prismatic Warlock builds actually benefit more from regular exotics than the class exotics. Getaway Artist and Rimecoat being the main too, but even things like Swarmers are quite good.

Yeah, title was a bit rough in LFG. My group got stuck on Persys for a while, got frustrated and called "last pull", then cleared it. So I got a bit lucky there. GotD started similarly with Ecthar, so I left and found another group that I was able to 1 pull it and then clear the last boss pretty easily after. If you have Microcosm, it makes the bosses pretty brainless. But seriously, the hardest part is just communication. The timer is fairly forgiving and you earn more time as you go. The adds can be annoying but running any basic add clear makes them disappear

For whatever reason after I did the first Witch Queen quest I could not start the The Investigation from the spot it shows in the map. It would just port me to the open world enclave.

If this happens to you, go to the big flag in the outside area that starts the FIRST mission The Arrival. It WILL actually load The Investigation. Might be some weird interaction with the new season of the witch idk but hope this helps someone, especially if with the free weekend coming up.

Personally, the best way I found to farm the red borders was to run Expert Breach Executable and gather as many radiolite specimins I could get between rounds. Between the rewards chests at the end of the mission, the drops from radiolite turn ins, and Echo engram focusing, the red borders would show up quite often.

You can find the radiolite pretty easily with the Wombo Detector ghost mod

I'd quickly finish any remaining Failsafe quests since a lot of them give QoL updates to running seasonal content, like refunding hammers or giving more engrams

Outside of Echoes content, Revenant has:

• Liturgy
• Bitter/Sweet
• Gridskipper
• Vantage Point/Noxious Vetiver

Heresy has:

• Adamantite
• Psychopomp

I would like to note that these weapons will all still be available from Xur after this season, though it'll likely be far more annoying to acquire them.

Rite of the Nine refreshed the perk pools of many weapons, making them very desirable to farm. Some of the big hits include:

• Wilderflight (Spire)
• No Survivors (Ghost)
• Cold Comfort (Ghost)
• A Sudden Death (Prophecy)
  To our knowledge, none of these will be around after EoF.

Currently, there is a hidden system that generates ammo based in RNG. Certain weapon types have a high chance to spawn ammo, certain mods further increase that chance.

With EoF, they're making the base ammo generation visible and predictable so ammo is no longer random. This should allow for more consistent ammo generation between damage phases, leading to less feast-or-famine situations.

EOF: Most the current stuff will be fine, look up the list of Exotics getting the seasonal bonus with EOF. The main standout is Starfire Protocol, but Rimecoat is also looking solid with the artifact.

Each class has their own methods of dealing with taking damage. Hunters have dodges but also invisibility, Warlocks have their rifts to heal through it or empower their own damage, and Titans have shields to block it.

first order of business for new and returning players is generally clear the new light missions and the campaigns

they'll unlock the bulk of the content you have access to (and all subclasses)

episodes are fine, but outside of echoes they have basically nothing to offer, and the timeline to clear them is real short atp

new light missions are named new light in your quest log 🙂

campaigns are just expansions in order. you can skip Shadowkeep if you want, it's fairly low-impact regarding the modern game atp (and it's got a cool vibe but the missions aren't exactly the bee's knees)

you can check the timeline from the timeline button in the top right of the director to see which campaigns came out when

main ones being Lightfall for Strand and Beyond Light for Prismatic

others will just unlock a bunch of raids, most of them being pretty relevant these days given they all got craftable weapons and mostly refreshed sets

as far as general systems are concerned, consider you're a fully new player. Basically every core gameplay loop has been reworked 2 to 3 times since you played 😛 Good news is, they're actually much better now!

Note that, while there are indeed lists upon lists of stuff I could give you as far as starter weapons go, realistically for the activities you're gonna be doing, you can (and should, for the sake of fun) use anything you get that sounds good/amusing enough.

Unlocking the Dual Destiny mission (exotic class item)

• Run one overthrow per zone. On completion, go kill the secret boss that just spawned in the area. It only stays during the Calm timer. You do not need to do all 3 in a row or in the same instance.
• Once all 3 secret bosses are dead, travel to the Blooming and follow the green beam of light in the sky.
• Interact with the Savathun statue in the blue cave, and follow the 2 markers that spawned on your map.
• Kill the enemies under the pyramids at the markers, until a boss spawns and drops a ball (light or dark)
• Deposit each ball in the corresponding plaque back at the Savathun statue

the blue flags are generally directly on the map when you need to go see an NPC on the map specifically, but to know what you gotta do you can just check your main quest in the quest log

it's acceptable to do so

people will generally clear the other campaigns when they have time, just rush through each in a couple hours just to unlock direct access to the different raids and other farmable activities
