the amount of content in this game that you need the statistically optimal dps weapon is extremely minimal, and even then the uptime of you getting that gun to maintain it's statistic maximum is small enough that you'll often not notice the difference between the best, second best, third best, or sometimes even 12th best

Most specific linears are bad due to bad frames and perks. Good linears are like Queenbreaker, Scintillation, and Mistral Lift. Almost everything else is bad for reasons not related to being a linear.

Each archetype of weapon (autos, snipers, rockets, etc) has something it is particularly good at. So when we look at perks, we want them to highlight and improve the thing it is already good at. Some weapons can be improved and refined quite a bit by the perks available to it, so those often become meta. Other times, none of the perks available to a weapon can refine it further, so it's regarded as "bad". Scintillation is arguably the best Legendary linear fusion rifle in the game right now because of the combo of Rewind Rounds + Bait and Switch. BnS provides a respectable 30% damage boost, while Rewind Rounds (plus the Veist Stinger origin trait) let you fire continuously without being interrupted to reload. Meanwhile, the best Taipan-4fr can manage is Triple Tap + Firing Line, which is a bit laughable by comparison. Taipan is "usable" in the same way that gum stuck under a table is chewable. You could do it, or you could go a little out of your way to get a much better experience.

The refining perks are often what define the weapon, but they only make sense on a weapon that can take advantage of them. For example, Heal Clip + Incandescent is an extremely strong combo and is commonly seen on a wide range of weapon archetypes like Aberrant Action, No Survivors, Nullify, Heliocentric, and Martyr's Retribution. But you would never run it on an LMG like Speleologist, it's just not a good fit. The previous weapons all reload quickly and often, making triggering the heal easy and on-demand. LMGs almost never want to manually reload, so it's a very wasted perk despite being one of the strongest.

When it comes to evaluating whether a weapon is "good", it really comes down to getting a good perk 3 + 4 combo on a weapon archetype that supports it. Getting everything else to line up for that 5/5 is nice, but 3 + 4 is really the main thing you need to evaluate. I understand this can be a bit overwhelming, which is likely why you want to use some sort of tool to decide for you. However, the issues with sites like Light.gg or even DIM's recommendations are that they don't always take in all the context of why a weapon + perk combination is being used, they just regurgitate the info. I know #💎shard-it-keep-it can be a little harsh with judgements, but you can always ask for clarity to try and better understand before making a decision. Keeping a decent 2/5 is better than having nothing at all.

While I don't know the specific process, when you "transfer" a character from D1 to D2, I believe it's simply recreating it in D2, they're not actually linked. There is a chance it gets added to a loot pool in the Exotic mission rotator once Edge of Fate launches, but that will be a pretty unreliable method for farming it.

Personally, Episode Echoes has enough in it to justify buying the pass if you can afford it. You also still have enough time to do everything if you were considering getting the annual pass, but I wouldn't wait too long on that decision.

Full DLCs such as expansions and the 30th Anniversary pack do not sync via cross save. You will have to re-purchase on linked platforms if you want to play that content (including accessing Strand and Prismatic).

I would just use the next month to get your feet wet. In July the new expansion is going to release that’s going to completely overhaul the armor and weapons currently in the game. Our current gear will be useful up to a certain point and then replaced by the new system. I wouldn’t spend a lot of time grinding things right now to make a build, more so just acquire exotics and complete intro quests and work on your guardian rank so you can access mods and what not.

We actually aren't getting a new planet with the next DLC since we're moving away from the Director (which is being renamed "World") and instead it's being added to the new system called "the Portal"

They're designing it to be a metroidvania, so that actually seems pretty likely. Land in the middle, go through a complicated path to an edge which unlocks a shortcut if you need to backtrack later.

That's fair if all you're after is the armor. However, Episode Echoes is currently the last season with craftable weapons and there are some really nice ones. A month is still plenty of time to complete everything if you do decide to buy it

Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition (the thing you are looking at) is $100. $40 of that is for Edge of Fate, the next dlc releasing on July 15. Another $40 is for Renegades, the Star Wars inspired dlc coming in December. The last $20 is for the early access to New Land Beyond and some extra cosmetic items. If you just want Edge of Fate, it's only $40. If you only want Renegades, it will also be $40, but be sold separately closer to its launch date.

You need to have Episode Echoes. If you do not have Episode Echoes, you do not have access to the Helm version of Failsafe. To get Failsafe to the Helm, there is currently a bug that requires you to do Na-Veskirisk before completing the quests related to A Meteoric Rise. Following the Legacy: A Rising Chorus quest will unlock the armor focusing at Failsafe at the Helm.

Without anything special, yes it can fire more than one tether with Mobius Quiver. Orpheus Rig also grants Mobius Quiver another shot for three total with the exotic boots. The Prismatic tether is sadly not the Mobius Quiver version, meaning you can't get any intrinsic extra shots and Orpheus Rig can't grant you an extra one either.
