Regardless of whatever the Destiny franchise ended up being, you cannot deny D1 and D2 were once shining examples of what a live service game should be. Like, if you cannot acknowledge that, you are blind to history.

There's also Paladins and Team Fortress 2 (Last major update was in 2017 and there doesn't seem to be any movement there). Paladins always played second fiddle to Overwatch but it had a pretty dedicated playerbase until it dwindled when people were unsatisfied with its balancing (as tends to happen in these kinds of games). Not to mention Hi-rez tends to shutter games down for less.

This is literally just the life cycle of online games. Just some are cut short due to mismanagement like Destiny, but discounting the game for bad decisions from a company is like, really reductive.

for pvp: Its decent, but it relies heavily on holding down mid-ranged lanes which limits its flexibility, and a good player can easily just wait it out or go a route where its not that effective, especially in non 6v6's
