Progress has been made!
I was consdiering making the player traverse a small cave here to climb up the right, but figured the gameplay of this room is already complicated and crowded enough as-is and turned it into a decorative alcove instead.
I think the main thing I wanna improve in my rooms is to try and have more simple gameplay. I try so hard to make every room I make have such dynamic paths through it that I just overcomplicate it. Where others greeble with tiles, I greeble with the gameplay itself š„¹
But yeah, I have to acknowledge more often that not every room needs complicated gameplay. Multiple paths and a layout so you'd never get easily backed into a corner is still a focus, but... sometimes I just gotta let myself know that I can have simple obstacles, and that's fine.
For the small filler room I'll be making after this, I'm definitely gonna try to overcomplicate the layout!

Alright, I've mostly been doing mushroom tile stuff today! So, uhh...
It's a complicated process, for sure, but I think I've gotten the hang of it!
What's actually different is sightreading the mushroom. See, I've been drawing it tile by tile like the crazy creature I am 
(far from the first time I've done that)
Problem is that, uh, copying graphics tile by tile is quite difficult when all I can do is sightread in-game graphics, which, uh, has some problems
- 2D render of a 3D-ish thing
- Light and shadows
- Low resolution
So I've been interchangeably referencing a few different images:
- Shoreline palette in-game (with sharpener... but it still doesn't look that sharp š„¹)
- Screen render file
- Interactive map (woah, high-res
)
All usually on the WARC_A07 mushrooms, specifically the slightly more centered one.
I've occasionally referenced other small mushrooms in the region for the outline, but for the actual mushroom contents... um, there might be several small mushroom tiles š„¹
(the other two types I know of. Though, they could be the result of effects - not all of them make things blue in the render files, after all!)
Anyway, yeah, I tried to recreate the details of the A07 type...
I think the underside turned out alright!
but for the spots on the main segment... yeah, I wasn't satisfied
So I gave up on accuracy. I don't need it! As long as I have a mushroom that looks neat and fitting, that's what matters!!
So I greebled some originality into the design, and...!
This... actually doesn't look that bad at all, I think!
And now I know what approach I should have for the big normal ones, too!
And the invisible ones... those are just random tiles that form the outline of one, should be shrimple
Anyway, time to edit this mushroom for the other tile layers!

Currently Looking through palettes to figure out which one Fetid Glen uses... how do palettes in-game work? In-game it says (one room in) Fetid Glen uses palette 44, but the only palette 44 I could find was in the msc folder...

if low res is a problem maybe the eyebrow raise mod might be helpful? i know people use it to get higher definition images of creatures since it zooms in, but not sure if it works for geometry

it's so ironic how the person who made the mod probably meant it for just something silly, but it's now commonly used for creature and now geometry zoom ins
well if you ever need any and you don't plan on drawing them yourself, i'm sure your rain world artist friends would love making some for you... 

I might make my own someday, but I might not make any specifically for these rooms...
However, if you or anyone else submitted a few, I might put them in some cool places!
I haven't forgotten your other suggestion about placing a lotta mushrooms, by the way! So if anyone wants to make one specifically for that silly screen, then feel free!!!

I'm gonna be busy for a bit, but while I'm away doing things, does anyone know what tile these are, or if they're unreleased Watcher tiles?
I actually have another question now - how does one go about setting up props? I think this should be correct, but I feel like I may be missing something
(this is for the small mushroom stems, so I have a segment I can repeat!)
(I know bevel makes light shading behave more correct when rotating, but I'm only using the light values for patterns, so this should be fine...?)
The tile visualizer won't accept it, probably because it's a prop and not a tile, so I'll test it in Rained and see if it works properly!

I am unsure about what these red dots are about, so I'll go check the graphics after eating.
There's still a few issues here and there, like for examples these poles being detached!
I figured the solution Fetid Glen itself uses is to hide that with effects, but I went and checked.
So, how does Fetid Glen solve the above pole issue?

Well, this is just one case, the others use effects as expected!
And of course not every mushroom like that has hanging poles anyway, so I can remove some useless ones from my rooms!

With some help, I think I found an exact match! Or at least something close enough to work extremely well. I got Railing Construction from Solar's repo, and the Railing Pole tiles fit perfectly!

The mod'll be in remix, and you'll probably need Watcher for it to work - and also use warp mod to actually reach the region (warp into one of the testrooms - warping directly to a room will break objects and sounds slightly!).

finally made it up here after a lot of struggling
it works well though!!
the one thing i will say is i'm having a lot of trouble discerning what is foreground geometry and background, especially when it comes to the background signs and trying to see where poles are (though i am relying entirely on sight since i don't have a geometry map to help)(though i'm also tired right now so my observation skills are terrible)
but overall i do think it's a really good multiscreen room and it does capture that fetid vibe really good, it works as intended and nothing seems to be broken
i can tell you put a lot of work into it 
(totally was not here to see you put the a lot of work in)
if you ever want me to play any of your future lediting rooms (or need a playtester!!) let me know, i can give an in depth opinion if you ever need them

I did actually ledit a lot more on room 4, but... nah, I don't actually have the motivation to continue. I'm happy with what I've done, and also feel kinda uninspired here. Don't get me wrong, I'm really proud of this room idea! I just don't feel like finishing it.
(The idea being to have the bright rainbow sky in the Salination part of Fetid Glen, and have a swarm room at the bottom and a radio tower to climb up for a pearl. Really cool, but I don't know how to decorate the lower sections. I might finish it at some point.)
Anyway, that's the end of the 100k region jam for me! I look forward to playing the region itself when it's all put together!

So, I've had a very ambitious concept for a Rain World mod for a long while! I don't intend to start working on it anytime soon - rather, I'll work on smaller projects (whenever I feel like modding) in order to get experience, until I feel I have the skills I need to do my idea justice.
But just keeping all my ideas in my head isn't that great to do, so I finally decided to write them down somewhere for organization, and figured "hey, what if I share some of this?", so here!
Introducing, a super-ambitious mod concept that I wanna make someday!

I wish I did a better job of conveying that the Cartographer's meant to look kinda fluffy (whether that's actual fluff or not, which is the world's greatest mystery), but otherwise I think this turned out ok!

I had a thought that 100% a region could give a benefit per region. Maybe fast travel through that region or a shortcut to another region or within that region etc or something entirely different. I think getting some sort of unlocks per 100%ād region could give more exentric motivation to map the whole map š„¹

UNLESS! Unless... Alduris eventually requests more Fetid Glen rooms! But I doubt it. Surprisingly one of the Watcher regions with the bigger amount of rooms now! But it'd be pretty nice if even one of them got in...
And they'd still make good modding-gallery posts, anyway! So no big deal 
Yeah, the coding would be... a lot. I don't know the specifics of how Rain World's mapping system is coded yet, I just know it'll be a lot.
Everything about this mod idea is ambitious... but with enough code, I'm sure I can make it work!

I am proud of the Fetid Glen aesthetics in them... but I do have multiple region ideas where those could fit with minimal changes, aside from stuff like the palette and some small tiling things

I came from Celeste, so take this with a grain of salt, but C# modding isn't that bad once you have the basics down.
And to make matters better, I do actually already have C# knowledge from several programming projects I've done before!
Of course yeah, it does vary from game to game, but I doubt Rain World's that much different in that regard.

Maybe the map progression stuff could work like vistas, as in there are some valuable places you need to visit? Using the ingame map and batfly blue circles code you could point out where you need to go while not breaking immersion much.
