The difference between unified and not would just be if they support building the game for all platforms on one main repo, or if they need to switch and potentially merge and fix conflicting changes.

I don't believe this is true. Unless there's actual evidence. The chieftain passage works as normal, plus the way this bug would manifest as -100, 0, or 100, doesn't really make much sense.

also lizards arent super hard to tame in general in my experience
Each lizard has diff necessities for taming so it depends
Like for pink or gren lizards u only need to feed them once or twice but a red liz needs 5-12 feedings dependibg on rep and stuff

Yeah usually a single noot baby does the job. But that's kind of the point for Monk.

You might need two for Survivor
The hypothesis for -100, 0, and 100 would more likely incur that both Survivor and Monk would max reputation upon feeding the lizard, no?

I could definitively find out if I did some memory searching in the game while running on my modded Switch.

The effort would require me to find specific values and whatnot associated with each rep score. In a sea of billions of numbers.
im in the first shelter right inside the gate to GW from IC and when i try to go down into main GW it crashes but it works when i go through the gate back into IC

There was a 1-2 lizards I dont even remember feeding following me
Maybe I'm just not used to the luxuries of the monk playstyle
Maybe you killed something attacking them, or left food that they then ate
But it felt very abnormal even for monk. That didn't hapoen at all in my first monk playthrough a few years ago
I guess it's safe to say we won't get a patch until Watcher now
I don't know if you've heard of it, but the game Nine Sols has gotten 7 patches on steam in the last month in preparation for their upcoming console release. It's just really obvious how much of difference there is between that and what rain world has been receiving
to add to this; the game Another Crab's Treasure keeps getting updates to steam then later consoles, idr how many and its been a bit but it has been a good amount of updates but the devs of ACT said before they add ng+ or even think of adding dlc that they want to make sure both pc and consoles are optimized and as bug free as possible before ng+ or possible dlc is released, so yea the difference between what rain word has been receiving and xyz indie game doesn't surprise me
The GTA Trilogy, that everybody hated, that came out 3 years ago, is still getting updates fixing things.

Though I think they sacked the original studio.

I hope the patch is going to be a separate thing and isn't included in the Watcher dlc because if the Watcher is going to have a price (I assume, I'm not sure), we'll be basically paying for the patch.
I think when downpour was released on consoles it was there in the remix menu when you updated the game but you couldn't use it till you bought it, so mostly likely it'll be the same with the watcher so no $5 patch hopefully 
Though tbf some fixes are paywalled behind Downpour, like fixing the scav toll in the LF-SU gate area.
Some could say that's not a bug but it's a huge QOL fix since entering on the left side half of the time makes the scavs register you as not paying the toll

I think this time you can have a little more confidence in the game functioning. Afaik Downpour was a case of the console versions moving over to the PC codebase, which had been gutted and exploded and turned inside out and patched together for the purposes of being multiplatform, and it took a while to fix those introduced bugs (that were also brought to PC), so with Watcher the cumulative PC fixes will be included for console and stability should hopefully be better.
Ig the good thing about the Downpour console bugs is they weren't all platform specific. A bug with Jolly Co-Op causes the same crash on Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. Music and sfx are wigged out on all(PC too) platforms at current? These things should all be fixed in tandem.
Plus the fact that we are getting console and PC at the same time and the fact that we have not gotten a patch in a while means that the console port team has probably been planning ahead to make sure it works on release

I think the chances of there being a patch on release when the watcher DLC launches is very high to 99% even. I would think they've learned from their mistakes and try to make sure the watcher DLC is actually completely functional. I can understand they were in a huge rush trying to get DP out on consoles, because let's be honest, most of us weren't the most patient crowd. Akupara normally also has a good track record with keeping ports updated (I think). That paired with the fact that we still haven't had a patch for almost a year and a half (!!) could very well mean they're just saving a masterpatch for when the watcher drops (even though it contradicts itself). It really isn't the best way to handle this situation, but I'm just happy if we FINALLY just get some kind of patch that gets us back to parity with the PC version. Maybe, just maybe the ports will truly be in a good enough state to be considered "fixed".
And 1 huge update is easier to send out than multiple smaller ones.

Keep in mind that Akupara does work on many games. I'm under the assumption the lack of updates for console Rain World is due to Akupara reallocating their standby development resources to other projects for the time being. A long time between updates doesn't necessarily mean the patch changelog will be that big.
Watcher on console will at the least contain the latest PC fixes.

Okay, after doing some research, it seems that the devs told us watcher would release on all platforms on the airframe ultra stream (need confirmation). Which means it's been delayed. And... I'm actually happy about it. I'd rather have something solid than a rushed project after all. A patch is needed though for the current state of RW.

It's not a RAM issue
Switch version is only using like 1.4GB of the 3.2 the system allocates.
The game is just rather CPU bound, and seemingly heavily reliant on single core performance.
Both of those things the Switch is not at all good at with default clockspeeds.

A Switch 2 should perform way better in terms of single core, given the advances in ARM processors in recent years.

That's what we had to do to start any music when DP released on console even.
It was a... buggy release to say the least.
But they're slowly building it back up.
The lag must be studied though.

Ok everyone, I have a hopium-infused theory; They said they had multiple updates planned before watcher releases on console. Could it be that... these updates include the console versions 
But I suppose that would be impractical, considering they would need to push updates through the verification process multiple times.
I'm guessing they just want to wait until the last Watcher patch to QA the whole thing for console. It'd probably be cheaper.

Found the possible cause, the "yeek fix" mod added different color variations and fixed their behavior. Later it was integrated as an official update into game. There's a possibility it...

I don't know if anyone else has encountered this, but I had disabled msc on switch and then played expedition, and if you had perks and burdens on, they will still be on
it didn't allow you to disable them unless you turned msc back on
the only things I noticed worked without msc was double spears and the pursued burden, but I didn't try everything

The problem is probably that the game doesn't know what to do and completely bugs out when you have msc stuff enabled in vanilla, which disallows you to change the toggles (because it wouldn't be able to toggle it in the first place).
On each of the first 3 days of the watcher's release it rained where I live. This is some form of complex torture

Rain world was not mentioned in the game compatibility issues list, which either means it works fine or they didn't test it at all

Hey chat, this might be a common issue for Rivulet, but game froze multiple times in ||RM|| and I've heard it's caused by ||MLL's|| but none were on the screen I froze on, and the one time I did freeze with one on screen I was able to fix it so I'm confused

I'm seeing some game-breaking bugs that would've taken weeks or months for it to be patched.
That's fair. I don't think it's nearly as easy to publish a patch for a console game than for a steam game as well, so when they do get fixed, it won't necessarily be sent out right away

There's also the creature tweaks
i head some devs says that updates are paid on console
so lowering the update rate or sending the right patch at the right time makes sense here

They've made the game really big again in the latest update
It was 2.2GB before Downpour, then 3.0GB after, now it's 4.0GB coming up to Watcher. They've previously released updates to remove unused data.
I appreciate the music triggers working now tho. As long as the Downpour content is fixed soon

This seems to be the only thing broken for now. I haven't experienced any crashes (though they were happening even before the update occasionally), but I encountered some severe framerate drops im situations that ran smoothly before.
What all does the watcher dlc add? ||I see that there are new creatures and locations but what about anything in arena? Does it allow you to spawn the new creatures? Is there more arena maps added like with downpour?||
Currently, || I believe all are unlocked in arena or none are there, can't remember if its a mod to have them. As for arena maps, none. If this next update adds them, then this will be disregarded. ||
Huh. I just loaded the game on my Switch 1, fully updated, and it seemingly is still broken as if the DLC is still incompatible? I'm unsure if this is a one time bug

Same thing happens on the PS4 version
, invisible slugcat, try to leave shelter, gets soft locked. Then I tried to go into arti's completed campaign and it was stuck in loading hell, then tried to go into monk and survivor's completed campaigns and it crashed, tried to go into arena to see if the mml still freezes the game, loading hell; PS5 however, seemingly works fine, went into survivor's completed campaign and nothing happened, went into monk and arti's campaign and there was no invisible slugcat and leaving the room doesn't soft lock you, and arena works fine, so in conclusion rain world on consoles is still broken as ever

After applying the watcher on the PS5 version, all dp and vanilla campaigns still work, arena is fine, and the watcher works fine so far

Well, I got 2 updates back to back today.
No idea how many more are supposed to come, but alright.
ON PS4: I got the 1.15 update, then uninstalled and reinstalled the game and ingame is still 1.11, the Watcher campaign is unplayable despite this. But I didn't have to remove all the mods this time.. Progress I guess.
Get a freeze at the first shelter in industrial complex, followed by a white screen, and the campaign won't launch anymore.
I can't be bothered to see if I have the same problem at another shelter in the area. I didn't pay €15 to be a beta tester, but frankly, I'm very disappointed... This launch is a shame

That happens to me too, when I sleep the bunker appears with a red filter and the screen freezes and when I re-enter the campaign it turns white
Honestly, I know that the watcher DLC has just come out on console, but I hoped that at least the errors wouldn't be so common and wouldn't let you play the game.
By the time they fix it and I still have to pay for the PS4 version of the watcher I might buy it again, but only if it gets fixed

The 1.11.0 is fine but not perfect. Only issue I see is Challenges screen doesn't work at all and crashes.
The Downpour update was pushed and it works fine. I can play campaigns. It's slightly less buggy than before, just one glaring issue

The cutscenes are still kind of laggy, even on Switch 2, which they never were prior to Downpour. Causing the music to desync from the visuals

Shelter crashes seem resolved, Jolly Co-op is usable now. I had a save locked in Pipeyard due to a crash on loading into a shelter, and it was resolved by this update.

I had other issues with the game after the update, and by uninstalling and reinstalling the game somehow worked for me at least.

The game itself will usually check for updates automatically, but game DLC updates are kind of hidden, there's no version number for them

I just started playing Watcher on my Xbox One and there's bad lag during the cutscenes and ||warps.||
That's the only issue I've noticed so far.
Also, when I exit the game, it doesn't save the mods that I applied in remix, and just goes back to having everything but Watcher applied.

What I mean is that when I boot up Rain World, I'll go to the remix menu and activate the Watcher DLC in order to play it. But, once I leave the game, the Watcher is deactivated.

I noticed another problem with Xbox One Watcher.
If I sleep in a shelter with items and then exit the game, when I come back, the items will either be different, absent, or possibly replaced with creatures.
Same for creatures in the shelter.
I killed a bunch of noodle flies in a Pillar Grove shelter, and then my game crashed the next cycle.
When I reloaded the game, two of the dead noodleflies weren't in the shelter anymore.

There's really just as many bugs, if not more, on consoles rn. PC players kinda have it better since they're able to send error logs and the devs can patch bugs more quickly. But between Switch and PS4? I doubt there's much of a difference... Same major bugs are occurring it seems

I finally got to test out Watcher on switch, and, from the first few hours (2-3), it's looking promising for console RW, but I have experienced 2 crashes in the same spot because of scavengers.
Though, 1 major issue is that the textures can severly bug out and often do it too.
No lag problems yet, it looks like 30 fps almost always.
They also fixed some really old bugs, like the little numerical console pads in (iterator) walls.

Okay, played a bit more and the glitches, or, let's say limitations are staring to show. Because all the visual stuff is pretty heavy on your console (or at leats on switch), it tries blurring the image to maintain a stable fps. Which, actually works pretty well, apart from the fact you can hardly make out anything from how blurry it is. But at this point, both options severely impact performance in some way. Maybe a setting to disable auto blur?
It can get a little jarring at times and I'd like to see the nice, crisp pixel art and not just some hazy remnant of a once beautiful pixel.
Also, [region name spoiler] ||Migration Path|| is the first region I've encountered seemingly missing textures, instead displaying a dull, monotonous cyanish or brownish color on every tile save for some rooms depending on where you are...
Actually I don't think the blur is a performance thing
I use tools to check resolution and framerate and overclock and whatnot, and the resolution count isn't changing.
Echo screen blur makes the game look lower resolution, and I think the usage of the blur sporadically is what's making it look like a resolution adjustment.

They've upped the GPU profile since Vanilla. But I think Downpour did that. 307 > 384. I play with it to 460 for my 60fps patch.

In a scene where I'm maxxing my 460mhz clock to reach 30fps. I can drop all the way down to 307mhz, and it'll retain 30fps, but dunk the resolution.
So I think this has been a solution decided for Switch for performance sake
So this doesn't seem like any sort of configuration bug then, unfortunately
If this weren't a crusty little Unity project I don't think there'd be any problem keeping performance
But then again Hollow Knight ran at 60 on Switch and Silksong 120 on Switch 2

PS4 after update: downpour and expedition was disabled and completely unavailable as if I didn't pay for it; after uninstalling and re-installing it both are back, watcher is available on PS4, got PS4 watcher for free from when I bought the PS5 version so I didn't have to re buy watcher for PS4, theses are the only thing I know got fixed today

Hey, my data got corrupted again and deleted everything in my PS5 (the game is the PS4 version tho). I got the Watcher dlc a few days ago since I saw that most of the issues got fixed and it was working just fine for a couple of days until today.
Today I got an error code when I opened the game and after I bypass the error, everything got deleted. Is there a way to fix this error? Because I can't play anymore due to this, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game but the same error still shows when I open the game.

The issue is only with Rain World, my other games are fine.

I had that some years ago as downpour came out for console. Idk how long until it happened, but I played on my ps4 and sudddenly my game crashed (not surprising). After restarting the game, I got the message that my save Was corrupted. I tried everything but nothing helped, so I needed to delete the whole save...
I guess is a normal thing to happen in Rain World after the two dlcs because this is my second time that my save file gets corrupted.

I too got my save corrupted when downpour came out (ps4). I had a white slugcat journey with over 115 cycles. Was trying to find all the secret unlocks etc. Who knew saving the game is a herculean task
I seem to have another problem. I'm playing as Survivor again from start and everything was just fine. But today for some reason when I enter one specific room in Outskirts, my game crashes without fail. I'm just curious if anyone experienced this specific crash before. It is likely do to Jolly Coop, as it's pretty buggy last I checked.
I'd recommend disabling Joop, testing to see if that works, and if it doesn't slowly disable add-ons until it doesn't crash
I restarted the campaign, but I'll definitely turn off jolly coop. Forgot that jolly coop is quite buggy, thanks for the suggestion 
Man, my Hunter just turned into Saint somehow. Not just the skin but the abilities too. It just had a big long update and changed it.
Editing to say that turning off jolly co-op seems to have fixed this too, but I'm not sure what they did in this update.

Same with the PS4, I think it started happening after the latest update in November 24. I guess is probably a console only issue once again

it only started happening to me (playing on switch) after an update that happened a while back. first update that i knew of xD and the one that made ||pillars|| finally not crash every time i took a commute through the region, iykyk.
turns out it was a 'track key items' thing. turn that off, and no issues whatsoever

(never found out why all my items i had in shelters were dumped into the adjacent rooms though, but im guessing it was for similar reasons xD)

I remember storing a pearl in the previous shelter and it somehow showed up there too.
Then, when I woke up it just crashes instantly when getting back to my watcher save file.

Input latency feels normal for me on Switch. The game runs at 30fps and might feel a little more sluggish because of this.

So I ran into a problem recently. I play on PS5 and I purchased the downpour dlc way before watcher dlc was even announced. I went to play rain world after the watcher dlc was released (I didn’t purchase the watcher dlc and I still don’t have it, I only own the downpour dlc) and it wouldn’t let me use any of the downpour stuff. The stuff in the remix menu was locked, the slugcats were gone, and every time I try toggling something in the remix menu it tells me to purchase the dlc. I’ve tried restoring purchases and uploading my data and redownloading it but it still hasn’t fixed the issue. The only other thing I can think to do is delete the game and reinstall it but I don’t want to run the risk of losing all of my progress. Anyone have anything that might help?
The same thing happened to me as well one day, and the only way for it to be fixed (at least for me) was by uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
I didn't lose any of the game's data when I did that, it should be safe to uninstall and reinstall it.

Because it seems the resolution drop technique in watcher now also affects other regions (currently I only know of Outer Expanse being affected).
Which is a HUGE bummer.
The greatest view in said region is now behind a blurrier version of itself, which is extremely unfortunate.

I was still able to perform normal tricks and it felt fine. I think just 'cause it's 30fps means you'll get slightly more input latency

yeah i think the framerate isn't the worst though, i'm guessing the physics engine runs at 30, so everything above that is just transition frames
Yeah but higher framerates mean waiting a shorter time for the game to process your inputs into new displayed frames. And you can see threats sooner

It indeed fixed itself after I restarted.
Just in case, ||but it crashed right before the weaver ending, so I couldn't see it. It saved after the cutscene ends, so restarting the playthrough is the only actual way to view it in-game once more.||
