From last I played long ago, I think the volatiles should be rarer but they should take some AI (in the old fashioned sense) ideas from mood-aware games. I.e. Left 4 Dead had its AI Director system that kept things difficult but reined in the spawn levels as health, ammo and accuracy dropped off.

Same with, more recently, Alien: Isolation, which would make the titular alien more perceptive and tricky until it actually got close but after being too close for too long without detecting the player, it would bail and leave, keeping a sort of scare and relax pacing.

So what I wanted to ask was about how Aiden is infected in Dying Light 2. I understand Waltz was experimenting on him as a child with inhibitors which contains the THV GenMod and antizen. So what I know is that antizen is a suppressant not a cure so wouldn’t that infect him with the THV.

If they have a lore explanation for that another question is how is he not infected if the new strand of the virus is said to be airborne in Dying Light 2. In the beginning before Aiden is infected he isn’t wearing a mask or any protection from the contaminated air so shouldn’t he be infected even before being bitten?

Sorry for such a long paragraph I just want to know how this all works

As far as I understand: THV isn’t airborne. As for Waltz was doing, my friend and I have our own theories involving that Aiden is similar to Alice from Resident Evil movies where his body adapted the virus (you see mention of it in Veronika quest) but it really isn’t touched on or explained sadly.

Honestly, I assume Aiden at beginning of the game had a sort of “dead” virus present then when the volly bit him in the tunnel he got fresh virus which caused the later issues.

Iirc that’s because of Black Wednesday - I think it’s called that; the day the Colonel ordered the chemical strike on the city that makes those obnoxious toxic yellow puddles we encounter; the wearing of the masks is supposed to help with the fumes. I think Hakon even says something in the prologue mission at the hospital about not breathing it in.

And iirc the game was in development long before COVID and just happened to release around that time. I mean, they could’ve added it because of that but I doubt it.

It’s been a while since I played so I don’t remember all dialogue but I suppose there could be mention of it being airborne and I just don’t remember it. But yeah, I don’t know if actual THV being airborne was confirmed or not.

The story had a lot of good potential but Techland is notoriously bad at telling stories. A lot of my love for the game is mostly the hints at the story we could’ve had that I’ve developed in my own brain (I’m a writer) and got attached to. There’s also a lot of things I would’ve changed lore wise to make it more enjoyable even if it would become tropey.

But people enjoy tropes it’s why they exist.

During missions always search everywhere for collectables. Some can’t be accessed after completing missions and you won’t be able to 100% the game without doing New Game Plus if that’s what you want. There are a good amount of Easter egg items which can be found from just exploring the map on your own but there are lots of guides to help. Also login to the Pilgrim Outpost as soon as possible for decent weapons and gear

Only crossbow that you can get in game is PK crossbow/obtainable after you assign 4 districts to them/

hakon one if you have his bundle... something like that and shen xu or whatever her name was/the haunty vendor/

i have Yumi bow , its just so weak , fighting with a sword is more efficient

You need good ranger gear and headshoots to make the bows deadly or at least pretty good ranger gear

i always aim for the head , but it takes around 2-3 hits to kill the target , sometimes normal infected gets 1 shotted but that's not always the case

also how do i obtain a good gear for ranger ?

That hunter lady at her location is selling gear and sola tower raid/both of them are requiring their tokens to buy the gear from them

because i really hate the fact that the bow cannot one shot infected , in DL1 , it was super fun just firing arrows at them

There is one very powerful bow/balista/from that lady... it is very slow but can one shoot anything

It is not...you need good ranger gear and some parkour abilities/that you will unlock at later stage/plus bonuses from your legend levels

oh well , the bow under performing badly in the beginning of the game i guess , it shows damage 550 then with the gear i have it's 600 , but never 1 shot an infected

not NEVER but rarely , and i always aim at the head , i was trying to find a good crossbow and i was told there's a good one at that hunter lady a bit further in the story where i'm at , i just defended fish eye from the renegades so a little further i guess , but for a bow , i was told i need good gear to actually get it to perform properly

You can use ranged gear to increase its damage, as for the bow, you can find some in certian military airdrops, or buy em from vendors. Once you get legend skill tree you can ugrade its damage

Using different ammo types can do more damage like exploding arrows of the ones that fling the enemy

Those arrows are among the best in the game..you will see its true potential when you will get stronger and have better gear
