just make sure that enemy preset isnt hostile to player
for example peace keeper
(by default its neutral and not hostile to players)

It's just impossible to be able to make maps on consoles if you're talking about that.
The toolset is very complicated for being ported to consoles, and computers usually tolerate the application more than a console can

For that NPC fight I’d probably just make independent cutscene w/ sequencer outside dialog
Aciek just explained it but I forgor. Iirc multiacti allows npc to be released from anim or stuff like that

I feel like I run into problems very very often. I was setting an animation for an NPC with the behavior place npc stuff. But the human ai acts very randomly. Some animation doesn't work at all and the NPC will stay idle and some works. However it's very hard to find the pattern. Are there any tricks or I'm doing something wrong?

conan exiles sells building assets, its been very successful for their platform in post sale monitization. if techland didn't focus on dumb skins and focused on allowing players to develop their own maps and enemy types for post game design, dying light 2 could meet at exceed its predecessor. they could even turn a nice profit for very little effort. instead we are stuck with shoddy game assets for map design that aren't even aligned properly

You can partially open Villedor in the editor if you do some messing around, but there's no way it'd build. You could use it for reference though.

So where can we find the 600+ Hellraid objects in the DevTools ?
Search dl_hr
Do what bub said to find them but also keep one thing in mind, if you don't see any hellraid meshes on the project, create a new one and find mesh.pre in that project file.
Copy and paste it to the same directory inside your old project (or where ever you wanna place hell raid stuff)
no need to create new project
go to \DevTools\ph_d\source\data\presets to get mesh.pre
ph_d is the template project that keep getting updated which you create new project from

if you copy pasted mesh.pre into your project, then 100% you shouldve gotten a prompt to replace things (in case you had not deleted the old mesh.pre)
the lodh meshes are level of detail meshes which are used for generating low poly meshes for objects from afar
I think they're added by mistake, previously the lodh meshes aren't in game resources

to make your objects visible, right click on level and select this
then select the objects you want to show in game, right click and "move to target"

whenever you open up your map in dev tools, make sure to right click on level and select "open and set as target"
then it will automatically adjust it whenever you play
as long as that option is greyed, your stuff being placed wont show

How to use choice node? Where does output connect, and how do I get more than once choice to appear? (Adding an answer to the choice node causes it to still only display the first answer)
Figured it out already. For anyone wondering, it looks like only one answer can occupy a positive, negative, neutral 1, or neutral 2 slot
Now wondering how I can set a variable with those choices to use in the quest graph. Dialog variables and global variables seem to be separate. Any way to see what choice was chosen and branch the quest accordingly?
I wish I could help you out but I've only got experience with normal story nodes for gameplay and not the dialogue ones

set the variable in the story editor first, create a folder, then put your variable inside, e.g. MyVars -> WaltzDied
in the dialog editor, u can reference that variable with MyVars.WaltzDied

I have a sequencer with a player track and an actor that uses fpp animations and fpp player skeleton yet when i play the sequence it doesnt play it through the players eyes
add playertrack, select the actor as entity and add scenetrack "playertrack"
and add the anims to the playertrack
click on the eye from the scenetrack and you should be able watching the fpp anim
i forgot to mention only one thing i can see throught he eyes in dev tools when i click on the little person button but when i play the sequence in the level than it doesnt play through the eyes

I don't think there's any path node creator. Are you talking about splines that allow auto generation of roads? Those aren't here

Thanx. I encountered issue in game that makes problem with moded character movement. To not overcomplicate things I just appart from my character movement mod created a mod with only one value change to make character move significantly different than in vanila game. This value is making character feel like having inertia. Param("MoveDeceleration" 120 value changed to 7.5
In game this makes character instead of stopping on a dime while releasing move button (analogue stick) from any direction imput. So moving character in game feels like the PC character have a real weight instead being weightless. I like such character movement so I wanted to play like that. But game engine have weird issue. There is one imput that makes this change/mod to be disabled and game instead uses default/vanila character movement so it breaks the feel for this inertia mod as game just got back to being stop on a dime type of movement. I did many tests and discovered that using button (kayboard W, gamepad stick forward) to move forward and pressing attack button (LMB, gamepad RT) while having melee weapon equipped it makes this issue I have.
The weird thing is that some animations makes game to go back to moded value Param("MoveDeceleration" used in file player_variables.scr that I moded and put into data3.pak as intended for mods to work.
First thought was that game somehow goes back to default. So I even tried to delete data3.pack as it would be full default game and instead mod the file in data0.pak but the issue is perfectly the same. So it is not taking value from data0.pak So how the game knows that it can find default/vanilla Param("MoveDeceleration" ??? This makes no sense and I am so sad that I cannot fix this issue.
So playing with moded PC movement, doing normal playing and using kick with all the directional movement possibilities=game is fine with moded param. And then I use melee weapon while moving forward and BAM game is like "NOPE" no more moded parqam for you, I am going back to my magic value for the param "MoveDeceleration" that you will never find so I will annoy you....
But then I use animation like healing or climbing vertical drainpipe or entering into slip animation on the roof steep part/terrain tilt or being grabbed by a biter or using swinging rope or dropping down from height and using the animation of duck/bend or from even higher place and using skill to amortize that allow character to make a roll after landing..... Then game is like: ok here is your moded param "MoveDeceleration" so you can again feel the inertia of player character. UNTILL I use forward with melee attack again. Then game again goes into vanilla MoveDeceleration param.
And if repeated it can swap from those two states instantly.
This is the weirdest issue in games that I ever moded.
I asked Techland Tech guy but he only pointed me here to ask instead. I was like, but there are map creators. And he said that not only map creators and if lucky I may find here someone who is also a gameplay modder.
So this is why I ask for help. Is there a magic expert that would know what the issue is with DL2 engine?
DL and DL2 are very simmilar in files as I saw cuz I also modded DL1 and also had simillar issue but I have no idea how to repeat this issue in DL as easily as it can be done in DL2
Okay I tested this and I can confirm the issue. Move deceleration resets to default value when you attack enemy or slash ground/wall. Apparently collision to enemy resets player/anim state, as value changes back to modified one when player e.g. bumps to a zombie.
It has probably gone unnoticed because difference is barely noticeable in normal gameplay (or default value is same as in the script)
I'm pretty sure you have found a bug here and theres nothing we can do about it - other than report it
If game is not moded in terms of character movement then I also thought that there is almost no chance to anybody notice this while average gameplay with lots of other distractions.
If any of us do not have special contact to any important developer, CO etc. etc. then I sadly doubt it will be ever adressed by @ashen smelt

To not make it complex question I will try to just ask.
Is there known in game file parameter for
- fast step forward while attacking with melee weapon?
- manual holster/unholster.
I discovered that this fast move forward animation while performing attack with melee weapon and moving forward is enabling the faster character movement. It is very distinguishable while crouching after the activation of this glitch.
When in the first place when we do not yet have this glitch enabled and go crouch and then try to melee attack with moving forward then this glitch will not be enabled and also there is no any fast forward step. Instead while crouched with holstered melee weapon we can see unholster animation first, then we can perform attack. But when we stand with holstered weapon and attack then magically melee weapon appears at the instant and attack is performed in the same time.
BTW all the new tests I made without any moded file. Plain vanilla game.

Sounds are .wem format packed into containers with .aesp extension.
If you want your own sounds, convert audio to Vorbis high quality WEM with Wwise and repack to original aesp with quickbms' reimport.bat

Hi, I just started messing around with the deve tools. I'm probably missing something obvious here but is there a way to blend terrain textures into each other? All the textures I place have really sharp transitions. Is there a way to remedy this?
There is small blending by default but its visible only after you lock terrain
if you need more blending you gotta create your own textures
check the brush you are using for the terrain,
you can see a paraboloid shape, a disc shape and a noisy shape
paraboloid brushes will have more smoother transition for blending between terrains, while disc shape one will have sharper transitions
Those have no effect whatsoever, texture blend is controlled by script
-> mapname_t2mat.scr
just seems like the mud textures in particular don't blend well. Also, I'm getting a ton of validation warnings and errors relating to 'Bloody Ties' content missing even though I'm not using any in the map!

Officially? No, dev tools does not have feature to import meshes. There is a way to mod things in but you'll need Dying Light 1 dev tools for it.

alright, the first step would be to import it into Dying Light 1 dev tools
then open the asset browser, search for your mesh
right click on it and open file location
from here you need to copy paste three files into dl2 dev tools folder
.msh file, .skn file, and .dmt file
once that is done, rename .dmt to .mat
open it, delete everything

Hi all! Brand new to the Dying Light dev tools, literally day 1, and uhh.... whenever I hit the play button on my testlevel, the loading screen starts, but then it just puts me back into the editor? I have everything in my level.. am I meant to attach a player character to the world spawner or something perhaps? Am I missing something? Or is maybe an issue on lower-ish end computers? I can still run new games, but tend to have to put them on medium quality for almost everything, so maybe it could be a memory thing? Any help appreciated! Thanks!

But yes glad you fixed it , just have to connect the nodes with a story set up and you're good 😄 . you could also go to tools > Options > Global options > rendering and remove the tick from rendering when application has no focus to get some extra frames if you need them.

hello, i need help with the game assets. How can I find the assets in the game folder and what is the best way to open them? I am developing Unity games and I would be curious to see how they interact with other engine and would also be interested to see 2D models, 3D models without textures, textures themselves in full format and text.
Its harder than it should. This is the only workaround Ive found so far. It is based on overriding vanilla binslocs with help of file called texts_temp.scr. You can find one from data0.pak. Drag it to your project folder.
Basically you can add new item names, prompt descriptions etc. like this
String("mystring_text", "lorem ipsum")
But instead of creating new entry, you can also add vanilla NPC name followed by your own string
