gh eats the fees last I knew

#

it all goes into OC which takes their cut (in favour of making our lives easier)

coarse lily
#

So may as well send it to OC if it's gonna end up there anyway.

#

So it depends on you if you wanna a cool icon on GH etc. or just support it through OC directly I guess

coarse lily
#

Pretty much.

oc doesn't cover transaction costs though (usually 3% + $0.30/transaction according to their docs)

not a huge difference though

They sound like their behavior sucks. Which sucks that you have to deal with it. But your three options are walk away from the server or remove them from the server, or just keep dealing with it and do nothing.

I've played on servers with poorly behaved staff and owners, and it fucks with players greatly.

7 months ago we broke up with my gf ...
We were together for almost 4 years ...
Then almost all my "friends" turned their backs on me ...just simps gone with her ... my "best friend" was in a relationship with her 3 days after we broke up

These days were like hell for me ... I was in a deplorable state for a month ... I really loved her... I was doing everything to keep her alive - shes deeply depressed .... And she just left me

Then I realised only 3 friends from 30 deserved my attention ... were & are real friends till now No matter what happens

And now its my choice who's my friend and foe

Just don't let shitty people rule your life because it's yours and you have to make choices
Everything will be okay
I believe you'll find your way

Use a custom generator

Just let the biome provider return dessert biomes only and remove water with something else

You can use WorldPainter

void void
#

Its unsafe

tired heath

Easy: use singleplayer, set biome to desert only, pregenerate world, remove water later with async world edit.
Solid: Use a custom generator plugin or code your own and let it handle that for you

Wow azure container service is even worse than I thought

#

I spun up an F2s VM (CPU optimized, uses Ice Lake Xeons instead of old stuff), put docker on it, and started my containers on there. Task on the container service took 13.5% CPU while on the VM it was 0.6% and finished fast enough the container service one spent most of its time verifying it didn't actually need to do any updates since they were done already

coarse lily
#

Everything in the cloud is better!

magic river

Stupid VM is cheaper too

#

I save $20 and the only cost is I occasionally have to remember to sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade and reboot

#

I could probably just automate that part too but I also might just not need it

#

If I put the SSH behind our VPN I can probably get away with just forgetting this VM exists, it's set up to automatically pull new versions of the containers when available and redeploy them

whats wrong with grammarly?

mental meadow
#

everyn't

sharp sentinel
#

The people who have issues with Grammarly usually have issues because they treat it as infallible lol

#

Grammarly gives you suggestions and hints when things might not be right, and you can choose what to do based on those suggestions

#

If you blindly follow it, it'll remove character from your writing anyway - because it's informing you when your writing strays from a standard path

wide chasm
#

When I used Grammarly a couple years ago I found that it made too many mistakes in its suggestions. It lead to me having to double check essentially every suggestion to find out most of them were incorrect. I'm assuming it has gotten better, but idk, can't really be bothered to install it again.

sharp sentinel
#

IMO it's gotten better but you should be doing that anyway

#

Changes, while accurate, can still impact the way you're trying to make the reader feel

wide chasm
#

I have that problem with IntelliJ's "turn a passive sentence to an active one". Yes, changing it is valid, but it doesn't help readability.

sharp sentinel
#

passive sentences can come across as less passionate/credible to the reader

#

So if you're trying to convince or inform it can be useful - but if you're trying to write a monologue or something with emotion it might make sense to keep it passive

#

IMO the biggest flaw stuff like Grammarly have is that they tell a user to fix something but don't teach the user the difference that it makes - The user needs to know what that change actually modifies about the text in order to make an informed decision about it

#

In my articles etc, for anything about how to run MC servers etc I nearly exclusively use active sentences - But in posts like my one detailing my experiences getting a false positive vac ban & the fallout from that I mostly use passive sentences, because it changes the emotional reading from the reader

wide chasm
#

Definitely, although Grammarly does have separate grammar pages that explain a certain piece of grammar, which I've found useful in the past when I had to double check some grammar.

sharp sentinel
#

Yeah, those are pretty out of the way though

wide chasm
#

Yeah, it'd be nice if those were more easily accessible.

Make sure the value you use is in hexadecimal.

do I just shorten it?

No, if you shorten it you get different characters.

I'm guessing that decoder gives you the number in decimal, convert it to hexadecimal.

technically it could be uh, UTF-32 lol

wide chasm

That's true, in that case use \u{XXXXXX}, there you can specify how many digits you want.

But I'd check what the output type of the decoder is, you generally don't work with characters outside UTF-16 range.

eager rampart

ok checking it was decimal output.

Yes and make sure your range starts with the lower value. In the original regex you sent the first value was higher than the second.

Have anyone there tried to implement registry-sync-v0 fabric api module into paper? So it gives people an ability to safely make modded things described in registries with paper and fetch them with fabric client

magic river

Wow is fabric actually doing RFC-like specs for things?

Oh, not quite

#

They're just versioning their APIs

wet storm

magic river

Oh are these all separate mods?

wet storm

so fabric api is basically about 40+ mods combined in one jar

#

imagine spigot being that modular 😩 never

vernal moth
#

For the RFC stuff you wanna use quilt πŸ˜‚

magic river
#

quilt uses an RFC process for basically everything, like rust does

#

But I was looking for RFCs for protocols and such

#

I guess for quilt a lot of that is "whatever fabric does"?

wet storm
#

I think registries is one of the most interesting parts in minecraft, imo they are a bit of over-engineered (DFU influence?), and many plugin devs don't even know about their existence, like some plugin dev I worked with, who thought that forge modifies bytecode of some enums containing entities, blocks, items and other registrable things to make new ones. I think Paper deserves a very powerful Registry API (not like a bukkit very cutted thing) in post hardfork period, at least for BuiltInRegistries which mojang actively develop due to datapacks

golden gust
#

I mean, the registry of registries is dumb but makes sense in some aspects

#

But, I mean, they're not really all that complex, they're just a bimap essentially

#

(The registries existed long before DFU was a thing)

#

only real change that I've seen is that they take advantage more of modern java features, i.e. Optional

wet storm
golden gust
#

freezing

#

It LITERALLY just sets a boolean to mark them as non writable

#

They're not designed to be written to arbitarily

#

That's why the entire game loading process is split up into phases between where stuff populates the registries and other stuff is populated off that stuff

wet storm
golden gust
#

Because the registries are split up into per world stuff, etc

#

this is still a moving target but the core of them are really not that complex

#

the ID map, etc, is because you've gotta go back and forth between them, i.e. get the ID of a resource from the registry so that you can store the ID

#

ssh in, find the pid of the task and see if you can kill it

For my birthday I took my family out to this vietnamese restaurant in some back alley, that was so nice, my sister spend half the time talking to the chef cause she visited his home town before

#

But man the food was good, took me right back to the vacation down there

#

Idk but something about all the south east asian cousines is just really nice

#

And vietnamese is my fav cause of all the peanut stuff

#

Man fuck dis am hungry now

But I already had dinner

You gotta earn those moobs

Man, somebody gotta teach you Brits English

golden gust

moobs is a word

Ok so do I order food now?

vernal moth

Then I would need to buy shit first

wide chasm

It's almost ten, why would you order food now?

Because I watched videos about cooking and am hungry now πŸ˜‚

#

I mean, you're saying that you had multicrap installed

#

so, generlaly you'd go check multicrap

unless you mean that you're not able to even ssh into your box yet, in which case, wait, server boards are slow AF to reboot

vernal moth
#

But I still get decent coding in so that's fine

vagrant marlin
#

if it didnt happen before, that is not normal

#

maybe you dont have some needed services for multicraft autostarting on boot :o

vernal moth
#

Idk why I spend so much time scrolling thru Netflix if I end up rewatching baby driver anyways

vagrant marlin

i always scroll netflix for 15 minutes, then end up watching something in hbo max

golden gust
#

Plex is doing an interesting

#

I mean

#

it turned the computer off

vagrant marlin
#

i did send a link 2 minutes ago

golden gust
#

and then turned it back on again

#

"connection refused" would generally imply that something that was killed when it turned off, didn't start back up

#

Given that we're not multicraft support, we can't really speculate on that for you

vagrant marlin
#

some logical reasons could be that your machine didnt save firewall settings

#

you are paying for multicraft, why dont you use their support?

#

or do you pay for it 😳

golden gust
#

plex

#

I mean, wait, brain

multicraft

vagrant marlin

and you are paying for that

golden gust

Literally everybody in the community seems to state that they don't message back

vagrant marlin
#

the pterodactyl support bot is way way way way more useful than multicraft support

golden gust
#

I mean, we're not gonna play their support for you

vagrant marlin
#

use pterodactyl

golden gust
#

go speak to the person who set it up for you, or diagnose it yourself, or, use sane competent software, which is even free!

vagrant marlin
#

moving all your stuff to pterodactyl would be faster than an answer from multicraft support

golden gust
#

We can't really tell you what's going wrong with random software which has nothing to do with us

#

You're gonna have to work out what it can't connect to and see if it's running, etc

vagrant marlin

is this microsoft windows xp support chat?

unkempt drift
#

How do you get those irc logs?

#

People sometimes post links to that, and idk where to get those

twin lagoon
#

they all implement one standard format

#

for the most part atleast

#

uBlock Origin (uBO) supports most of EasyList filter syntax, so you can refer to existing filter syntax documentation from Adblock Plus and AdGuard.

Is it easy/possible to use paperweight to make patches over vanilla minecraft? (For example, use some part of paperweight-lib and paperweight-patcher)

twilit bluff
#

does disenchanting an item reset the anvil penalty for that item?

magic river
#

Huh, so the new 13" XPS is thinner, lighter, and faster than the 13" MBP

#

Of course that means comparing it to M1 and not M1 Pro/Max

#

And it has half the battery life

vernal moth
#

Man, pair programming with my dad is something else

#

He's trying to build a webinterface to display data from his solar panels and how the energy is distributed to car, house, grid and battery

#

And everytime am here I try to give some hints

Today we learned that setInterval is nicer than using meta refresh to reload the whole page and he managed to vertically align text using flexbox instead of using newlines ^^

#

He doesn't want graphana that's too complex πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

#

And it's fun

high mirage
#

it's too complex that someone has done the work for you?

#

I mean I kinda get what he means

worn ember
#

Grafana isn't great for real time data either tbh

void void
#

Don't think it's secret

#

should be visible in the response headers

#

No

twin lagoon
#

they're feature flags

void void
#

Look in the response headers of you trying to use the join a server popup

vestal jasper
#

There may be ratelimit info in the headers

#

Or somewhere

#

wait-until or retry-after etc

little frost
#

idk if it still is but at least at some point, changing your profile picture had a rate limit of 2 per 24h

vestal jasper
#

It's 2 per hour, has been for I think about a year

tropic flame
#

i can usually change three times but it should be like that ig

spare venture
#

i am fine with shit like that being super strict

tropic flame
#

24h tho, you might as well just call it a temp ban and not a rate limit

#

nice kekw

vestal jasper
#

"banned you temporarily"

#

Unless you mean avatars lol

tropic flame
#

oh i hadn't read it all

#

i see

#

nah, 2 per 24h on avatars is absolutely disgusting

#

websites hate VPNS*

#

"screw your privacy, you can only be a bot if you use one"

spare venture
#

yeah because people only use vpns for privacy

tropic flame
#

dynamic IP OP until you want to portfoward for whatever reason

being able to identify people is pretty important for a lot of things

at least being able to id them as a unique user

And advertising

spare venture
#

yeah if there were limits on what you could do with that data, that’d be cool

vagrant marlin
vernal moth
#

Yeah lol

#

VPNs only enhance privacy in like open wifis in your hotel lobby

#

Or if you have a shitty ISP in a country that doesn't ban shitty practices

#

But the whole "internet scary, use a VPN to protect you" is all marketing bullshit

#

So the only real reason people should use an VPN is to circumvent geo blocking

unlimited mobile data

vernal moth

Good luck with that in the subway

Or internationally

vagrant marlin
