the thing with raws is that they have pure raw light data. everything the camera saw at the moment the shutter clicked. so if you took a really bright photo but it's not entirely blown out, you can just reduce the light levels and recover the photo to a good exposure and it's not entirely ruined
those other formats get rid of all of that and keep only what is currently selected to show

You can compile your entire system against musl but still use systemd, for example
Or set global CFLAGS and force everything to be compiled with SafeStack
Or both. And that's something the distribution maintainers will fully support your doing.
