youtube is the worst medium for this kind of project lmao

#

ok no, sorry, tiktok would be the worst medium

I mean, there is a twitter. a facebook page would serve the same purpose

tropic flame
#

oh no no no

#

please don't tell me this means VLC will use electron in the future

#

please no

golden gust
#

the UI is basically a magical thing around libvlc

#

So, I mean, they could keep it seperate, but, I mean, bahahahahaaa

tropic flame
#

yeah well, that magical thing is called Qt and it has a much smaller footprint than an electron app

#

no way i'm opening +500MB of program at once just to play video

golden gust
#

mpv master race

twin lagoon
#

still waiting on seeing one good looking Qt program

tropic flame
#

i've heard about it, personally I know of a fork of MPC-HC which is actively maintained

twin lagoon
#

mpc-hc is epic though

golden gust
#

klite?

tropic flame
#

yeah the fork they bundle with their codecs

golden gust
#

That was like a staple on my windows machines

tropic flame
#

lmao i still have it in mine

golden gust
#

I never quite liked VLC, and especially when I got to a mac it was unstable AF for years

tropic flame
#

just so i can play things outside of VLC if i ever need to

golden gust
#

So, I just kinda got stuck on plex for media management and mpv for everything else

warm anchor
#

Vlc had come a lonnnng way zcat

tropic flame
golden gust
#

Yea, I was using it other week and bar some annoyances it seemed stable

warm anchor
#

It’s a lot better now and I will recommend it rieEggplant

tropic flame
#

I don't need any modern minimalism design

golden gust
#

I'll mpv masterrace

tropic flame
#

I just want it to play media

twin lagoon
#

@warm anchor koriAyaya

tropic flame
#

i can easily access my current playlist, and my media folders. on its current state, VLC is perfect

golden gust
#

Like, mpv is just simple and stupid, idc about an ultra featuristic media management or shit

#

VLCs management of stuff when you have like, a playlist of erm... hent... I mean, anime, which has multiple sub/audio tracks is a PITA as it doesn't keep the same sub/audio track IDs across the vids

twin lagoon
warm anchor
#

Oh god those emojis are so cute if I do say so myself

twin lagoon
#

@waxen panther koriLaugh

lament patio
#

I like how simple MPC-HC is (and how the dark theme is pretty), VLC looks and feels clunky to me

warm anchor
#

VLC was the end of “finding codex pack to install coz this show (I mean anime) can’t be played in WMP

tropic flame
#

it's just scroll up and down for volume control

warm anchor
#

It changes system volume

#

Abs it goes over 100% for some odd reason

#

One would think 100% means max

#

NOPE

golden gust
#

vlc was nice back in the days before I knew of klite, but, post klite, I mean, it's handy as like a portable "does it all" which you know can run on literally any install of windows, but, in terms of feature complete solutions? klite, all the way

warm anchor
#

VLC for iPhone is still good in a sense coz you know… iOS

golden gust
#

not just converting for quicktime

#

runs

warm anchor
waxen panther
chrome cosmos
#

potplayer masterrace

lament patio
#

Wonder where it is nowadays

warm anchor
lament patio
#

But I simply didn't need the features

chrome cosmos
#

so do you suggest i change
i agree it is too advanced

lament patio
#

I mean, if it works for you it works

#

Could always try the simpler ones out and see

chrome cosmos
#

i just use like 10 feutures and playlist
anything that is not clunky like vlc and not dead?

lament patio
golden gust
#

for plebs ^

#

for pros: mpv

#

I mean, if you're using that, you probs just wanna install klite anyways and have all the codecs

#

But, I mean, most of what you care about is probs bundled with the OS these days

#

But, I would miss the pretty encoder symbols in the notification area

#

:L

tropic flame
#

mfw VLC 4.0 nightly build says i don't have a OpenGL 2.0 capable gpu but look at this

#

i literally do

golden gust
#

vlc go brrrr

tropic flame
#

VLC does indeed go brrr

#

i guess i'll just stay in version 3 eternally

warm anchor
#

I guess so

tropic flame
#

i just hope they don't stray away from their awesome native look-- oooh fuck well there they go

void void
#

thats nice tho

golden gust
#

So, what you're telling me

#

Is that they're bastardising their horrific UI even more?

tropic flame
#

what im telling you is that im very fond of VLC's current look and this one was unasked yes

golden gust
#

Actually looks like plex

#

ngl

tropic flame
golden gust
#

Just, few tweaks, but, straight up kinda looks like plex

#

Which, you know, great for marathoning a show and shit, but, like, as a daily media player? Just, bleh

#

(Sigrid is ❤️ though)

tropic flame
#

admittedly i sent a screenshot from like february but that's because i don't find any other more recent articles

ripe sphinx
#

plex sucks, please don't model a UI after it...

tropic flame
#

yeah they want to follow some of Plex's steps apparently

olive marlin
#

I would be surprised if you couldn't roll back the theme tbh.

tropic flame
golden gust
#

I mean, it sounds like it's not just a theme but a complete rewrite of the UI

olive marlin
#

The theme had quite a bit of control over the UI in VLC, iirc.

manjara is bastardised arch for those who can't arch

twin lagoon
#

fyi arch has an installer now

plucky sparrow
#

oh it does?

twin lagoon
#

yes

plucky sparrow
#

ooo

#

might do then

#

the only issue is getting my wifi card to work

#

it's not easy since it's a macbook wifi card

full rune
golden gust
#

yea, their installer is kinda nice

#

I had some issues with it at first but last I tried it it was working nicely

#

I mean, in terms of getting sane, raw DEs, arch is the way to go

#

but, I mean, I wouldn't say arch is a beginner friendly distro, but, if you have reasonable *nix skills and some critical thinking skills, it's really not all that bad, just, do yourself a favour and keep it updated

plucky sparrow
#

not exactly a beginner tho

#

might try

#

thanks for the recommendations

tropic flame
#

which there already is one

#

i don't remember if i turned off the ping, sorry if i didn't

plucky sparrow
#

you can know because if you did ping him it adds an @ behind his name

tropic flame
#

oh?

#

that's nice to know

#

TIL

golden gust
#

but the app store is generally useless for win32 stuff iirc

tropic flame
#

yes

#

🤷

golden gust
#

which still means that apps are gonna be using their own BS for updates

#

so, it doesn't solve the issue that MS is generally useless here

tropic flame
#

idk

#

I like the way MultiMC updates

#

it just seems to download the required files, replace and reopen

#

meanwhile some updaters just straight up shoot you to the browser

#

like ???? at least download the installer for me, jeez

golden gust
#

Well, I mean, many apps these days are using spark or whatever it was called

#

as said, there is no central mechanism for this

#

hence why spark exists

#

hence why companies like apple have their own updater thing which they install along side all of their stuff

#

MS just doesn't have a mechanism for dealing with this outside of specific cases, which aren't exactly great if you've been making an app for several dozen years

ancient bolt
#

the microsoft store has the same problem the mac app store has

#

it's convenient for users for sure, but it brings in so many limitations and other requirements that most apps would rather just not deal with it

#

though I think the microsoft store isn't as bad as apple, which I believe takes a % of all purchases made in-app as well

worthy geode
#

atleast they allows win32 apps now, not just uwp, so maybe that changes

glass delta
#

discord is actually in the microsoft store now

golden gust
#

They allow win32 apps but no updates

#

(As I said)

worthy geode
#

that seems dumb

left swift
#

U say something cat

golden gust
#

did somebody say something?

left swift
#

Who

tropic flame
#

allowing win32 was only logical

#

should've been like that from the beginning, especially when they even recognized UWP couldn't cover all the use cases of win32

#

i know MS is trying too hard to stray away from it but i mean, even UWP is built on top of win32?? i don't see them winning the battle lmao

plucky sparrow
#

actually i dont think i can install arch linux

#

i have no way to get the drivers for my wifi card

warm anchor
#

the obv solution is just buy a new wifi card

floral mesa
#

It would be nice if microsoft ditches win32 and starts from the ground up, and throw that aging crap in a hyper-v container

plucky sparrow
#

and it works natively on macos

tropic flame
#

so i don't expect them doing any good job at starting over either

floral mesa
#

well considering they are building on top of an OS loaded with crap from 30 years ago

plucky sparrow
#

im gonna check if arch linux works with my wifi card

#

ill use an sd card to install it

void void
#

im confused

#

whats wrong about sha1 having the same hash for 2 specific files

#

"The attack required nine quintillion (9,223,372,036,854,775,808) SHA-1 computations and took the equivalent of 6,500 years of single-CPU computations to complete phase one of the collision, and 110 years of single-GPU to finish phase two. Although that process sounds long, it's 100,000 times faster than a brute-force attack on SHA-1."

vernal moth
#

that is a hash collision and incredible rare

void void
#

exactly

#

who cares?

#

ofc its gona happen at some point

vernal moth
#

if you can find a collision you undermine important security protections

#

thats why we moved on from sha1

worn ember
#

If you can create collisions then you can fake hashes

potent fossil
#

:L

vernal moth
#

if I can highjack a download server, inject maleware and keep the hash the same, nobody can tell

void void
#

how tho

#

its only for those 2 specific pdfs?

#

if you put stuff in dere it'd change the hash thonk

worn ember
#

Which proves it's possible

void void
#

it was already possible tho

vernal moth
#

no, there are attacks where you put special stuff and the hash stays the same

void void
#

yeah but you can't viably

vernal moth
#

because you can guess how the hash changes

void void
#

"The attack required nine quintillion (9,223,372,036,854,775,808) SHA-1 computations and took the equivalent of 6,500 years of single-CPU computations to complete phase one of the collision, and 110 years of single-GPU to finish phase two. once you find a collision, finding another is not the same level of difficulty

vernal moth
#

1000 gpus and it only takes months

#

10000 gpus and its days

potent fossil
#

that's what the idea is here

#

finding the first one is what takes so long

void void
#

why so

potent fossil
#

finding more does not

vernal moth
#

because you can make certain assumptions

potent fossil
#

because once you find one you know how much power it took, so multiply that power and you reduce how long it takes

void void
#

didnt they just try random characters on the end tho a bajillion times?

potent fossil
#

no, that's brute force

void void
#

ok hmm so how did they know

worn ember
#

I'm sure google knows

vernal moth
#

quick maths

#

you can find flaws in the algo that allow you to skip certain trys basically

#

so its no longer a full bruteforce

void void
#

does every hash algorithm have flaws?

potent fossil
#

i am not super educated on hash algs but this is kind of the difference between take an algebraic equation and sitting there plugging numbers in until it works vs reducing the equation to minimal form to find less variables to plug in to find an answer

vernal moth
#

well, nothing is ever perfect

#

the longer an algo is around, the higher the possibility to find a flaw

and the longer it is around, the higher our computational power becomes

broadcom wifi used to be the least likely to work with linux

#

Like, when I got a 2011 MBP (only laptop with Sandy Bridge you could buy when I was looking) I ended up mostly just running Ubuntu in a VM to do my work stuff and eventually migrated entirely to macOS

plucky sparrow
magic river
#

Because the only driver in linux for the wifi was to use ndiswrapper on the Windows driver meant for Boot Camp and while it was a stable connection it would just randomly kernel panic

#

But that was 2011, last time I checked in on that in like 2016 they seemed a lot better, proper drivers and such

#

Oh no, the Pixel 6 has a 90 Hz display but it doesn't have VRR, I misunderstood what they meant by Smooth Display

frank otter

magic river
#

And a couple TV seasons, that's most of the size

frank otter
#

about download folders, my school enforces a max file restriction on your home folder but not your downloads folder

#

as in its bounded by the size of the actual disk in the school server

#

so if anyone wants to do lots of space stuff they do it in their downloads folder

#

one of the many oversights of the admins

magic river
#

Neat, the M1P is just this but everything below the words "32 Core GPU" are missing

#

Still can't decide if they leave those bottom two RAM channels empty for 32GB or use 8GB modules

ancient bolt
#

assuming that's an accurate representation of the chip physically, that's a pretty cool modular design

#

there's also a 24core GPU version of the M1M tho

magic river
#

Which is almost certainly just a binning thing, not a different chip design

ancient bolt
#

yeah that's fair

magic river
#

I guess they aren't 100% identical on the top there

#

Things are shifted around a bit

#

I bet that's some automated place and route optimization thing

ancient bolt
#

oof I want it so bad, and I also want a pixel 6 pro

magic river
#

Hmm, or they might be identical but the image detail and coloring is just different

ancient bolt
#

presumably it could also be shifting hotspots around for ideal cooling?

magic river
#

Nah, all the hotspots are in the same places

ancient bolt
#

it looks pretty identical to me

magic river
#

Yeah it looks like the M1M has like an extra layer on it or something

#

If you were etching these to figure out what they look like I'd say the M1M just didn't get as thorough of a job done on it

ancient bolt
#

physically the top of the M1M looks taller than the whole M1P tho

magic river
#

Weird that they'd mess it up for their own die shots though

ancient bolt
#

I'm both impressed and surprised they didn't just use CGI images

plucky sparrow
ancient bolt
#

would have been a lot easier probably

magic river
#

Too much detail for these to be renders I think yeah

#

hmm, and then some parts of the M1P look like they have an extra layer on them too

#

...did Apple actually take finished chips and etch them by hand for these?

floral mesa
#

funny how they tout bringing ports back

#

also hdmi? really? I would have opted for display port these days

magic river
#

The USB-C ports can all carry DP with a simple pin adapter afaik

#

And if you need to plug some random monitor, TV, or projector in to a laptop it's much more likely to use HDMI

floral mesa
#

fair enough, though the same can be said with hdmi

magic river
#

Nah, HDMI needs an active converter, doesn't it?

floral mesa
#

nope

#

DP converts on the fly

magic river
#

DP and HDMI are the same protocol?

floral mesa
#

no

#

but DP encapsulates hdmi/vga/dvi

left swift
floral mesa
magic river
#

It doesn't have to, I don't think all DP is dual-mode DP

#

On the MBP it probably is though

floral mesa
#

this also exists

magic river
#

I know when DP first came out is was basically DVI with a prettier plug

#

If they've since added VGA and HDMI modes that's neat

floral mesa
#

yeah, DVI was also a jack of all trades, it talked to VGA also

#

but

#

you needed a specific DVI connector and header

magic river
#

DP was only DVI-D though

#

So no VGA

#

Or maybe just my first video card with DP was like that

floral mesa
#

The interface is backward compatible with other interfaces, such as HDMI and DVI, through the use of either active or passive adapters.

magic river
#

Oh, not even the original DP 1.0 actually supported passive DVI adapters

#

That's always been an extra dual-mode thing

#

The DisplayPort interface uses an LVDS signal protocol that is not compatible with DVI or HDMI. However, dual-mode DisplayPort ports are designed to transmit a single-link DVI or HDMI protocol (TMDS) across the interface through the use of an external passive adapter. This adapter enables compatibility mode and converts the signal from 3.3 to 5 volts. For analog VGA/YPbPr and dual-link DVI, a powered active adapter is required for compatibility and does not rely on dual mode. Active VGA adapters are powered by the DisplayPort connector directly, while active dual-link DVI adapters typically rely on an external power source such as USB.

#

I guess it was HDMI that was just DVI-D with a fancier plug

floral mesa
#

yeah, I noticed that

#

VGA does need an adapter, but the tech to convert the signal must be so small now that it really isnt too noticeable

#

at least when it comes to good quality cables

#

its funny really, apple came out with mini displayport

magic river
#

The new MBP is basically Apple listening to everything people have complained about for the last few years

#

Also for people saying it's thick, it's still thinner than the 2015 MBP (the last good one before now)

floral mesa
#

would have been nice if they had expandable storage

magic river
#

Well, expandable storage and RAM are never going to be a thing again

floral mesa
#

oh no, not with the cheapest of laptops nor apple products

magic river
#

Talking about normal users, not people who like to take stuff apart 😄

#

RAM slots use a lot more power

#

There is no LPDDR spec for a slot

floral mesa
#

but we are talking about a professional device? not a oh hey, this just surfs the web all day

magic river
#

They decided more battery life, cooling, and performance were more important than expandability

#

You can do a hybrid setup though, Thinkpads come with one or two modules of LPDDR soldered on and then a normal DDR slot

floral mesa
#

apple has always never been a hit when it comes to cooling. they have always preferred form over function.

waxen panther
#

who told them to add a notch troll

floral mesa
#

its why for the longest time on intel, they skimped out on cooling

magic river
#

As far as the storage they don't even use normal NVMe, not sure if there is any benefit to their setup though or if it's just some weird evolution of adding NVMe on top of their old eMMC phone setup

floral mesa
#

they used some pci sata connector before they soldered it onto the board

#

but its still no excuse to prevent upgradability or service the device

cunning raft
magic river
#

The notch is weird

#

I could understand if they were sticking IR cameras in there

#

Although apparently that camera sensor is pretty massive for a webcam

floral mesa
#

I dont know much about the notch, but uh, what about programs that have lots of context menus?

cunning raft
#

trollface that's part of the experience

floral mesa
#

there has to be a few programs that just absolutely use a lot of context menus

cunning raft
#

depends if they're using the proper context menu api or not

#

if they're doing their own shit in fullscreen mode the notch part becomes black i think

magic river
#

btw when you use dual-mode DP it's kind of gimped

#

Only supports 18 Gbps even though normal DP is 80 Gbps

floral mesa
#

may also depend on how the screen is treated hardware wise, maybe for operating systems unaware of the notch, it just automatically ignores it?

magic river
#

I guess that's why DP->HDMI passive adapters all say they only do 4K@30, that's the limit without compression

floral mesa
#

might be seemless for macos, but I can bet that it may just end up being blacked out on say linux

#

or

#

its just a full display and whatever is there is blocked out

magic river
#

Oh god, the M1 display controller is an ARM CPU running its own RTOS and communicates with the OS via C++ RPC

floral mesa
#

lol

magic river
#

Like, they didn't make a custom RPC protocol, it's just the C++ ABI

#

And it changes with OS updates since those also include new firmware

#

For the Linux port they just picked a random OS version and their driver only knows how to talk to that firmware

Damn, the Linux ecosystem is about to be kind of fucked

#

OpenSSL 3 exists, node is a popular thing, node exposes OpenSSL as a part of its ABI, node 18 is the first LTS version that will have OpenSSL 3, node 18 LTS isn't until October 2022

#

But Fedora, Debian, and Ubuntu are trying to eject OpenSSL 1.x from their repos in the next few months

cosmic raft
#

and?

magic river
#

And so they either need to make OpenSSL 1.x parallel installable so node can keep using it, make an exception to their packaging rules and allow node to use the bundled OpenSSL, remove node from their repos, or wait until after Oct 2022 to upgrade OpenSSL

#

But I bet before October 2022 there will be things that require OpenSSL 3 so that just screws things from the other end

#

They're trying really hard to avoid having 1.x parallel installable since there are licensing issues they're just kind of pretending don't exist and it would be nice if that could all just go away

boreal nexus
#

question now, what performs better now that tuinity and paper are together, purpur or paper?

magic river
#

Probably Paper since afaik the main difference left in Purpur is new game mechanics

#

But they're probably close enough it doesn't matter

south matrix
#

well, it does have airplane patches

boreal nexus
#

so airplane spigot is better than paper?

magic river
#

Hmm, yet another performance fork of questionable value 😛

#

Jumping through a bunch of hoops to save 0.1% in some situation most people don't care about is easy when you only have to maintain a few patches

#

When you're maintaining the whole server you start rejecting those as not being worth the effort

boreal nexus
#

i just want the best performance for my server and want the best performance

magic river

We don't care to benchmark every fork which shows up, and benchmarking in MC is naunced af anyways

magic river
#

If you had a server large enough for this to make a difference you'd either know the answer to this or be paying someone who knows the answer to this 😄

golden gust
#

as with any iterative effort, if you spend more time over a project which already throws a bunch of time you can probs score some gains

boreal nexus
#

i’ll prob stick with paper then and update it to the new tuinity one since paper is probably way more stable and has much more support and bigger community than purpur

golden gust
#

are those gains worth the support loss, 🤷‍♂️

boreal nexus
#

yeahh^

#

alright i’m going with paper lolz

magic river
#

Unless you want the new mechanics in Purpur

boreal nexus
#

i don’t really care ab mechanics, i just want the best jar that has the best performance out of the box without having to configure anything

south matrix
#

the mechanics are pretty cool, i must admit

examples?

south matrix
#

ah so you're in it for the money

magic river

Wasn't Airplane originally just Tuinity but keeping it up to date with Paper builds?

magic river

And then Purpur was using that as a shortcut to get an up to date Paper+Tuinity

south matrix

vernal moth

Spend a few thousands more, get solar panels and a heat exchanger and you got clean renewable heating for cheap

warm anchor

probably cost?

vernal moth

If you building a house, does it really matter if you get a few thousands extra from the bank?

warm anchor
#

solar is really depends on the location I feel.

vernal moth
#

No

#

Even in Germany it's a nobrainer

#

As long as your roof isn't completely the wrong directions and inclination

#

My dad got solar for power next to their solar for warm water they always had

It's insane, even now they get enough power to power the when house for the day

And on Saturdays he can charge his car on solar NP

magic river

If you do a ground loop heat exchanger it'll even work in the middle of winter

vernal moth

(turns out, the lower temp + not much clouds make up for the bad inclination)

magic river
#

That's like $10,000 though I think

vernal moth
#

It's like the best solution we have for heating right now

magic river
#

They have to drill bore holes and shit

vernal moth
#

How much more is it compared to a gas heater tho?

#

And since you spending hunderts of thousands already, does it matter?

warm anchor
#

well for new house its fine

#

but old house, its additional cost compare to use existing pipelines

magic river
#

It's way more than a gas heater but compared to the gas heater it's basically free to run

vernal moth
magic river
#

Also every AC unit that isn't an open air heat exchanger is such a waste and should be illegal

warm anchor
#

idk the house here in suburb all have central air and heat

#

so not really any "unit"

vernal moth
magic river
#

Your central air should be an open air heat exchanger

#

It's just the AC but running backwards, it's like one fucking valve

warm anchor
#

oh

magic river
#

It probably isn't but it should be

warm anchor
#

you mean vs boxed window unit?

magic river
#

The problem is you have to get a smarter thermostat because it has to understand when it's too cold and it should switch to the gas heater

#

All ACs are heaters too, whether it's central air or a window unit

#

You just need to be able to run them backwards

warm anchor
#

well I guess they are heating outside

magic river
#

People in the parts of the US that need heating hate heat pumps though because it gets too cold for them to work for a month or two

#

But that's just because their thermostat sucks

vernal moth
#

Gov should just nudge everybody towards such better solution, tax co2, give out subsidiaries if you buy sustainable efficient stuff and the market will solve the problem

magic river
#

Also if you did a ground based system it would work year round for heating and cooling

vernal moth
#

Only issue is people who rent, gotta give them some money too so that low income households can pay increased gas prices if their homeowner doesn't put new stuff in

magic river
#

You could ban the sale of gas heaters and subsidize ground based heat pumps, then the renter problem solves itself after 10-20 years

vernal moth
#

Yes

#

But within those years, you gotta help those poor people

warm anchor
#

Most of the housing from baby boomer era post WWII are also poorly built

#

So the insulation isn’t up to standards which means heat transfers

#

We do got newer codes now but it doesn’t affect the existing old houses

magic river
#

I would need to upgrade the line to my house and my breaker box again if we didn't have gas

vernal moth
#

My dad always explained, if you would take a riffle and shot straight thru a suburb house in the US, bullet travels thru 5 buildings 😂

magic river
#

And redo the wiring to a decent chunk of the house

vernal moth
#

That's what Germans think of American houses

magic river
#

I have a gas dryer and gas stove

warm anchor
#

Actually wood is pretty good at stopping bullets!

vernal moth
#

I took out the gas stove when I moved in here

#

So I only have warm water and heating with gas

#

Nothing I can do about that

#

Other than heat with my pc I guess kekw

magic river
#

Yeah after WW2 we decided since the average family buying a house only lives there for 7 years we wouldn't bother building them to last

warm anchor
#

Yes

#

Plus building construction brings in money

magic river
#

magic river
warm anchor

vernal moth
warm anchor
#

This covid would actually helps in long term restructure a bit I feel

#

Look at how NYC is failing to get business to return

magic river
#

Like, no joke, people move to an area and it booms for a few decades then the city can't afford to function after they all move out and the tax revenue is gone

warm anchor
#

Then soon people will realize going to one place for work is a dumb idea

magic river
#

NYC has been in an unsustainable real estate boom for quite a while

warm anchor
#

That’s how silicon velley operates

magic river
#

Like, the whole of the US is but NYC was on another level

warm anchor
#

They know the coworker here are all temps. They introduce high tax to milk them as much as possible before they move out of the area

magic river
#

Yeah but silicon valley is still there

#

This is a wave of destruction moving across, like, Ohio

warm anchor
#

Which has a huge impact on people who are local but not in techs

#

Being driven out of their hometowns etc

#

Coz someone from out of state with his 6 figure income would just throw their money for a house

#

Knowing that once it’s time for them to go, they can sell it to another one freshly with a 6 figure job

magic river
#

People move to an exurb, all the expensive houses and such produce enough tax revenue to get a new town going and then the residents push for bond measures to expand local infrastructure (parks, pools, etc) then after a generation those people are gone, the housing prices are in the toilet, there are no jobs, and the city doesn't have enough money to maintain all the shit they built 20 years ago or to pay their bonds

warm anchor
#

Ohio is blooming in that sense so it will start to see the same effect being played out

#

Not to mention super infected budgets from pretty much all local government alike

#

Once housing price drops > property tax drops > they will all be struggling to get enough for budgets lol
