suppressed exceptions are used for when an exception is thrown while handling the existing exception. it only makes sense if the existing exception is going to be thrown or rethrown
It's generally not a good idea to log an exception more than once. add suppressed or add caused by as needed and throw or rethrow. Have the place where you log be the place where you are not rethrowing or wrapping the exception. Otherwise you could potentially have the same exception printed to the log multiple times, which only adds to the noise and isn't helpful
creating a new exception with additional info and adding the existing exception as the cause is the best way to add additional context when you are not handling the exception

my use case for addSurpressed is ignoring the exceptions while i'm looping through something then throwing an exception after everything is processed. from what i've read on stackoverflow, addSurpressed is good for situations like mine

sure. What I do in that situation is have a base Throwable that is null. In the catch block, check if it's null, if it is, just set that throwable to the caught exception. If it's not, add the caught exception as a suppressed exception to the original. Then when you're finished with the loop, check the Throwable variable, if it's null then no exception was thrown
