If you don't have a shaded jar you can have version conflicts with dependencies, but the file size would be smaller since you won't be including multiple versions of the same library in a jar. Cavet with this is you might get a runtime exception (ClassNotFound/NoSuchMethod). But if you have a shaded jar, if I have MyProject which depends on JDA and OkHttp 2.0. JDA depends on OkHttp 1.0. Assuming JDA is shaded. If MyProject is shaded as well, it will use OkHttp 2.0 and whenever I call a method from JDA it'll use OkHttp 1.0 . Cavet with this is an absolute massive jar if you have a ton of dependencies. I feel like a larger jar is better than the possibility of a runtime exception though
