What are the exact cons and pros of switching over from bare metal (31+ nodes) at OVH, to like switching to the cloud (aws/google?/ovh cloud?/etc) as, will it save cost?, will it be way easier to maintain/scale?.

(Those 31 nodes are currently just running a java program that launches new java instances itself, no container/pods all)

I had horrible experience with managed kube

I would always rent bare metal, but automate a kube cluster with ansible or smth

And then deploy into that

Then, since everything is automated, you can just provision new hardware automatically and scale that way

Maintinance is easy too, just down one host, do updates, make it up again

And with updates i mean, just reinstall cause it's automated

But: i am generally a pessimist when it comes to app clouds, but that's partly because of first and second hand experience

My company is going bare metal cloud too, instead of renting clusters

But we will take like 3 years for that 😂

What I can recommend is get a cheap server, setup k3s on it and play with it.
