I love that Mojang added event system to MC. Can't wait to see how it'll be exposed to us. After Paper improves its performance, of course.

limber knotBOT
#

event system? like string triggers? xD

#

if so the easiest would be to just have a general event for it with the trigger and the data

olive marlin
#

Yeah. Whatever you want to call the thing they use for Sculk Sensor.

worn ember

wat why

limber knotBOT

I mean I like the idea

olive marlin
#

I think Spotted disected it yesterday?

#

I like the idea, but it's apparently sucks for performance now.

limber knotBOT
#

yeah

worn ember
#

i mean, just reading what it does

cunning raft

limber knotBOT

it's like "lets search all surrounding blocks for sensor on all actions"

cunning raft
#

not as bad as you'd think

and easy fixable

worn ember
#

isnt it all event based?

cunning raft
#

kinda

limber knotBOT
#

but I assume they do some caching or use some fake entity internally

cunning raft
#

they got a new system

limber knotBOT
#

the main issue that I have with it is the vibration travel speed tbh

worn ember
limber knotBOT
#

as that just means that it needs to always hold data in memory

worn ember
#

were did mah chunks go

haughty bear
#

about maven-site-plugin, is it possible to link the built JAR from a page?

limber knotBOT
#

wat does that even mean?

haughty bear
#

the jar built in mvn install, is it possible to get the location of that and add an href to it?

olive marlin
#

Pheonix the sensor can detect it immediately, just trigger the particle animation and then trigger redstone.

limber knotBOT
#

"When a vibration is detected, a signal is sent from the source location to the sensor at a speed of 1 game tick per block" though?

olive marlin
#

So don't think it needs much data. Some sort of task that is scheduled for later? Not sure how much it'd impact it.

limber knotBOT
#

also wtf: "Other vibrations cannot be detected by a sensor when a signal is already travelling to it."

#

that part makes it completely useless

haughty bear
#

actually, is it possible to let maven-site push to gitlab pages?

olive marlin
#

So probably it detects it immediately and stores the task, just runs it later depending on the distance.

limber knotBOT

pretty sure there is a plugin for that

i have a question regarding updating the server's version

i have both the server.jar and the latest 1.16.4 Paper jar
Do u upload them normally to the server or is there something more i need to do?

so
just upload both files to the server?

and delete the old server. jar

You just grab the paper jar from the website, and upload that to wherever your server expects it

that's not a bootloader

so grub

the package is efibootmgr

that's not a bootloader

that said you do need efibootmgr for this

you can create an EFI boot entry using it

coarse lily

cd is a good one. I think that means "chicken dancing"

twin lagoon
#

and it misses a good package manager

#
  • no AMD CPU which ruins virtualization
magic river
twin lagoon
#

er sorry no weird wording for that

#

macos doesn't have AMD cpu support in first place

#

there's ways to use AMD cpus on macos which works for almost everything besides adobe apps (need a small one liner to patch it)

magic river
#

brew is slow?

twin lagoon
#

and it doesn't have virtualization support

visual egret
#

hiii

magic river
#

You'd have to rewrite Hypervisor.framework and the kernel module to support AMD virtualization, that's one place they never standardized

twin lagoon
#

yes

upper flicker
#

I mean homebrew is nice, Im happy everyday it exists

twin lagoon
#

amd virtualization does work actually

#

but not with hypervisor.framework

upper flicker
#

but its not as nice as like apt or dnf or anything

twin lagoon
#

and that's the problem since everyone moved over to that

magic river
#

Well, no, but nothing is Debian

upper flicker
#

most days thats bad

#

some days though... thank god

magic river
#

brew works a lot like cargo, the repo is literally just a git repo so brew update is doing one or more (depending on taps/casks you have enabled) git pull commands

#

And then most things are in bottles so installing is just unpacking a binary, you don't have to compile anything

#

But it can compile everything, the bottle is just a cache to speed things up

coarse lily
#

Haha I do that every so often, too. Fun project and then too much headache and sell.

ashen cliff
twin lagoon
#

it's very easy to do yeah

#

AMD hackintoshes are also very easy to do

magic river
#

I've been thinking about doing a hackintosh setup on my laptop but I'm trying to get to a point where I could do without it for a couple days and that hasn't happened yet

#

Apparently someone wrote/ported an intel wifi driver so basically every laptop can work without too much trouble these days

#

But the driver only supports 802.11n even if it works on your ac or ax device

twin lagoon
#

yeah

#

the xps 13 9300 is supported now

magic river
#

Yeah, that's my laptop 😛

twin lagoon
#

same laptop gang

#

kinda want to do it just for fun

magic river
visual egret
#

time to write my server api as a seperate server than my main webserver

this gonna be fun....

magic river
#

Luckily I didn't get the 4k display, I wanted the matte one

#

Although I do wish I'd gone with a glossy screen sometimes, cleaning this one is much harder

twin lagoon
#

i hate how dust gets stuck under the display

#

like, the plastic edge at the bottom of the display

magic river
#

Seems like the main downside of hackintosh of this laptop is battery life

twin lagoon
#

oh?

#

i'd have expected it was good

magic river
#

Oh, and no external display support but that's being worked on

#

People are saying battery life is like 4 hours with macOS

twin lagoon
#

f

#

There are two ways to get external display work.
1.You can change your platform-id to 8a520000. However , this will cause black screen after your laptop wake from sleep. 2.Another way is connecting to an egpu. Get egpu to output to an external display.
I'm still looking for the solution to this problem.

magic river
#

Oh, I guess the fingerprint and IR sensors aren't supported either but the former doesn't work on Linux either and the latter is a gimmick

twin lagoon
#

it does work on linux

#

it's just a proprietary driver

magic river
#

Huh, I guess they finally did put something out

twin lagoon
#

works great aswell

#

can even use it with sudo

magic river
#

I tried to set up the IR with that, it kind of worked

twin lagoon
#

fuck IR

#

i disabled the webcam in the bios

magic river
#

FaceID or whatever you want to call it is more secure than fingerprints

twin lagoon
#

the security i'm not too worried about

magic river
#

A lot less convenient to use too

mossy vessel

Just put a selfie on a pineapple

magic river

visual egret

I dont know where to ask this:

Lets say i have API located @ server/api/myapi

and API docs located @ server/api/overview

in nginx, is it possible to redirect every other request that starts with /api/ to webserver 2, while sending every request @ server and server/api/overview to webserver 1?

sorry if this is long, i just cant phrase it into google

magic river
#

You'd need to make a accurate mold of my face and build a rig that can make it blink

twin lagoon
#

yes it is possible

visual egret
#

do you know how to do it / a guide on how to do it

twin lagoon
#

probably best to use some form of load balancer for this

#

but the easier way is to just use location blocks

visual egret
#

so far all my request just went to server 1 but i decided to seperate the api from the main server

magic river
#

Meanwhile fingerprints can be reproduced with a good enough picture. They're like your house keys, if someone can see them they can copy them.

#

btw never take a picture that shows your keys

twin lagoon
#

location /api/ {
proxy_pass http://webserver2;
}

    location /api/overview/ {
        proxy_pass http://webserver1;
    }

    location /server/ {
        proxy_pass http://webserver1;
    }

thanks!
