For real though, Apple is always on the bleeding edge of TSMC nodes, they essentially bought up all the 5nm capacity for now

And they're willing to pay a ton per chip and for chip design

They probably never get told "that's a cool optimization but it uses too many transistors"

there's something to be said about apple's ability to pay more per chip because they are selling whole computers around said chip, rather than just the chip itself

ARM is trying to create a similar design where they take the latest Cortex and scale the crap out of it with all the ideas they had that didn't meet their area/power/perf tradeoffs the normal chips have to meet
