The problem is that the last time they tried it, Valve poured money into Linux, and Microsoft had to choose from having the company that has a giant gaming marketshare telling its users to switch to Linux and kill a large part of the Windows userbase or not having the App Store monopoly. They chose wisely to not piss off Valve entirely but they're still investing in Linux anyway in case Microsoft tries again.

At least here, Zen 3 edges out the A14 but it consumes a lot more power to do so.
The fact that Apple is able to achieve this in a total device power consumption of 5W including the SoC, DRAM, and regulators, versus +21W (1185G7) and 49W (5950X) package power figures, without DRAM or regulation, is absolutely mind-blowing.

Simply put, I can actually mostly believe Apple's marketing claims that you can get desktop-class performance in a MacBook Air chassis.
The new MBA probably has no fan and is entirely passively cooled. Wouldn't be surprised to see that.
The 13-inch MBP will probably have a fan though, to try and reduce thermal throttling.
