it's sort of a traditional rpg game with the non-traditional souls-like combat flow in it
upgrading weapons and armor set is a big part of it
I mean it has a very linear story that is actively told to you by actors
upgrading armor isn't a huge thing in the souls franchise
nioh isn't really a game where you can go end to end wearing nothing but a sword
or rather it sort of is but it really isn't meant to be played like that
trying to do something like that would be about as fun as trying to complete a call of duty campaign using only the knife
one thing nioh really takes some pride in, though, is the move set and variety in combat moves and strategies which you can employ
I think I got relatively close to finishing it (and I still plan to do it at some point) but I swear to god that I only using about 10% of the move set given to me
it's a bit insane
tbh I like nioh far more than I ever liked the DS franchise
but I'm not much of a souls fan anyway
the only thing I sort of have against the game is that the bosses can be seriously fucking annoying to beat at times
sometimes I'd find a boss and beat them in my first try and feel like a god
other times I got stuck on a boss for over 5 hours
I mean if you don't find it daunting I guess you could find it refreshing
I'd say it sort of suffers from having straight up too many mechanics
it seems to be a bit of a trend with some japanese games

that being said, it will fail if the user you are sudoing doesn't have a home directory, a disabled login, or no shell's configured
