for example, i really like the pure vessel skin, and the skin thats limited to skin artists only
however, both are now unavailable to me: 1. im not a good spriter, and i don't wanna make something im not proud of, all for a skin. if im gonna go through the trouble of making a skin, i want to make sure its decent.
2. i have searched high and low for any challenges thats tied to the pure vessel skin, but i have found nothing.
Now, if someone came along, and offered these skins to me, i would deny them, as its wrong......but id be lying if i said it wouldn't tempt me

all of those achievements are once per save file so just do the opposite of whatever you did the first time when you're doing the steel soul mode

Or you can use benchwarp mod to warp out of a godseeker savefile, if you want the world to be untouched while still having all the upgrades.

my game runs smoothly 98% of the time, but when it comes to traitor lord and nailsage sly, framerate starts crapping
I'm guessing it's because of the intense amount of scenery
and toaster laptop
for traitor lord it's manageable as his moves are slow enough
but it's impossible to fight sly, as when he's using great slash, I don't see until it's too late

well no but not all mods are without glitches
this is a game glitch fwiw, same happens with quitouts (on 1024 at least, not sure if it got fixed ever)

So, a while back, there was debate over whether mods would still work once the new patch came out. I've also been told that modders are no longer worried about it. What happened?
mods will break with the release because of underlying technology, but shouldn't take long/much to make the mods work with the beta patch again
some more exotic mods may take longer because of other underlying stuff

You’re making a mod that destroys the objects in the background at runtime(when the game is being run)
if it wasn't evident enough I'm no modder 
not quite sure what I can do
others said downloading unity wasn't necessary
but I'm not sure how else you would go about it
you use code to destroy all the background items
when the game is run
that way you don't edit the actual game files and make it permanent
and you can just remove the mod at any time to have the background items appear again
I don't know what kind of program I would need for that
besides, I'm totally fine with permanently removing backgrounds anyway
not like fluctuating framerate is desirable anyway
i think there's already a mod like that you could work from
blind radiance or something along those lines
looked it up, just makes radiance even harder 
so the first only makes certain arena backgrounds dark, but thank you for the suggestion

Ah. I don’t think HK is fit for a TAS since a lot of things are framerate dependant and rely on RNG. If your fps is off by 1 frame it could totally destroy the TAS

the hk tas gets consistent rng by freezing the system clock using libtas, which forces unity to always start with the same seed. This does pose some issues for making a tas, since you can't ever go back to change previous sections as the seed only determines the first RNG call, and not the order in which they're called.
but it is doable, and it seems a lot of the various sync issues are being worked through, to the point where we are now getting v. convincing KP -> xroads well tases

I understand the design decisions that went into the effect. But sudden audio ducking has always bothered me, even outside Hollow Knight, in a way that's hard to describe. [It feels like someone's squeezing my head?]
It bothered me throughout my casual runs, but I got past it. The issue is that I've been teaching my 5-year-old how to play (with the use of debug and infinite HP); so avoiding getting hit isn't really an option any more. I'd rather not enable invincibility due to the way it changes knockback.
Also, yes, it's borderline criminal to turn down the beautiful music.
I have an odd question as a non modder. Would it be possible to make blind fold mod for Hollowknight that makes it so all bosses or all required bosses follow one consistent RNG pattern/cycle? so you could plan and play around said one consistent pattern?

it is possible to fix enemy ai, for example QoL fixes uumuu rng to always give the same pattern

the hardest one to get right would be watcher knights but at least it is possible to make the boss fight 100% consistent every time even if you die
if i'd do the attack pattern stuff with every boss just know that every attack will be one after another, just in the worst possible order >:)
honestly idk if thats required ive already proven that you can beat bosses that are almost entirely invisible the only extra complication youd have is knowing where your character is but limiting what you use to move makes that easier
and youd have to memorize each enemys spawn location and how they work and the paths required and where and when to click or go or what youre fighting or when youre fighting so the issue is like thats not exactly humanly possible
theres a reason not many games are blindfold played. if they are theyre generally a lot shorter and have les extreme platforming and less required fights than hollow knight
also youd die to hornet 1 like 2343274632874632784683287 times hornet 1 is hell with invisible bosses
and knockback on bosses and enemies will screw with the rng even if its the same attacks they wont land in the same spots every time

looking for some help with a 3 v 3 team based mod
on each team there is a "Pale king"
i would need a custom skin to be for a specific badge
and everyone else is a knight
example

the king would have all abilities and spell and soul vessels and masks unlocked
but the knights would have to collect abilities while protecting the king
bc the king does almost no damage
first team to kill enemy king wins the game
It's great you've got a fun sounding idea. It's another thing to make it happen. It's not impossible but you're unlikely to find someone who will just jump in and help you make this happen (for free).
Which means implementation falls squarely on you/your wallet.

You could start small and try to learn to mod and code. It's not hard it's just something that you need to learn. It takes some time and effort but it's really fun.

If you haven't used it yet, there's HKMP, which is a Multiplayer mod that is being actively developed and supports a lot of additional features.
You can do teams on it, and it supports skins. You can mostly do your idea by having the Kings use finished saves, and the host can set the damage values for PVP to be low.

am i missing something or is it supposed to be almost impossible to heal with HollowPoint? you have to overfill adrenaline, but you lose adrenaline when hit. probably doesn't help i'm using randomizer so i'm fighting bosses designed with mothwing in mind despite not having it.

My understanding is that any given enemy type needs to be individually modded to have consistent RNG, which is a lot of work.

I may be incorrect here, but afaik Vsync never increases your FPS; it only attempt to lock it. And the built-in Vsync for HK has some issues, including a weird mix of dropping inputs and buffering them slightly (the delay).
Personally, I had it on for a long time before I started to actually noticed an issue with it, and that was only after I was playing rando for awhile and starting to more regularly do some more difficult things quickly, at which point the occasional inputs not going through when I expected them to was very noticeable.
If you're issue is like what mine became, in that disabling it puts the game at an absurdly high FPS, then you can either user your GPU's driver to limit it, or an external program to limit it, which is usually more consistent and recommended (which is why the menu was renamed).
vsync sucks in EVERY SINGLE GAME
vsync prevents screen tearing on your game by individually loading the frame one by one and making the fps more stable, HOWEVER this makes what is shown on your screen not accurate to whats actually happening in the game. so if you click jump, the screen may show you jumping much later than what actually happened because its individually loading the frames
i am not a programming expert so correct me if im wrong though, but vsync just straight up sucks, especially in a fast paced combat game
