oh yeah when you edit, you want to choose the aaaaa_info.txt file next to the exported frames (since it has the mappings of all the png files) and it spits out an _edit.png in the same folder, so if you're confused why nothing happens look for that edit file

i've noticed the knight's smaller sprites made it very hard to add big changes to their design,resulting in even the bests alt skins mod being basically just the knight with a costume switch
so do you guys think hornet's bigger sprites will allow for mods that could change her into something completely different or do you think the sprites will still be restrictive and thus we will only get alt skins mods?

Keeping the vessel element keeps the character grounded in the world around it. I'm working on one that will be very much different, but there's going to be consistency issues with the way it looks and how the world around it looks, that's for sure.

So, while playing the bonfire mod, I noticed a glitch with the mask(s) you gain from the resiliance stat. When an enemy hiots you with an attack that does two mask damage (or more) the damage goes straight through the lifeblood mask gained from resiliance, and takes out two normal masks. I have yet to see if this affects you when you have two or more lifeblood masks from that stat.

Has anyone actually made a mod for deepnest to be less arachnophobia-triggering? I've got a friend I really want to get to play the game but it just crosses the line to actually upsetting. With all the mod tools it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to remove the cosmetic-only minispiders and remove the skitter sound effects and such, but I'm not suee how to start on it myself

There is similar functionality to the second idea in current debug-mod. At least usable as a jump-off point to achieve it (probably)

Debug-mod also has examples of enemy charting and hooking into their data, so can probably use that to help figure out various control FSMs and then just remove them from the game object

Re: multiplayer mods: Idk if this is how the HK multiplayer mod works, but for some games that sync like this, all players send packets of into to an API on a server which hosts something with a session and transmits all data back to each party, then there are hooks that parse the output and do the appropriate game actions on the user's side (eg: player A get's player B's item, data packet sent, data packet routed to player B, player B's local hook runs a "get item" command).

I'd guess (?) this is how this one works, but I have no idea, I haven't read through the code yet.

Yeah, I imagine we spin up an EC instance (or the GCP equivalent) and then that divvies up the packets, or a K8 thing and that makes little pods for games. I have no idea which is cheaper at this point, haha.

But for people who want to do multiplayer mods: it's instructive to make a little chat client to sort of see how that kind of thing is done. There's a lot of tutorials for that in pret much whatever language --- and it's a nice way to see how the multi-client <-> server architecture works.

I'm hoping the next Randomizer update gives some more "duplicate items" options that can be enabled with random Geo Rocks. I love playing runs with Geo Rocks enabled, but dang if it isn't a tiny bit obnoxious to have the majority of all checks just be geo lol.

"Minor item duplicates", where it's just some duplicate non-logic charms, would be a neat way to balance it imo
||Also, turning the minor-boss geo rewards into checks when? Massive Moss Charger, Gruz mother, and Vengefly King deserve to be checks!||

Really, any "check" that had been seen, but not taken (shops, stag stations, roots, dreamers, grubs, seer) should be able to be seen in the RandoMapMod map. Like, hover over a "seen" check could bring up text of what's there.
Heck, another QOL update for it could be to show what the requirements of a check are when something is hovered or (or clicked on). IIRC this is what the WindWaker randomizer does. And if you are currently able to get a check, then it would instead just show the reasons why you can get it. ||I definitely don't want this because of a run once where I picked up Crystal Dash without noticing, and then spent the rest of the run trying to figure out why certain things were being listed as "in logic" when I didn't have skips turned on...||

I hope we get nailsmith randomized too
Same. As well as geo-from-boss rewards, Hunter's Journal, the ability to heal that is used in Cursed, and a few other things that I can't remember now, but have thought before that I'm surprised that they aren't already randomized.

I want to try to do a speedrun of hollow knight but I can't disable the modinstaller. it says "unable to locate vanilla version of hollow knight" I've tried doing what it says, I've deleted the mod that didn't deactivate for some reason, and I even deleted the disabled mods folder but for some reason I have instant free heals, which wasn't even in any mods I had
