Enemy Randomizer FAQ

Enemy Randomizer is the mod that randomizes Bosses and Enemies. It is considered in Alpha, so you may run into problems when using it, and having DebugMod installed is recommended.

All Enemies are the same‽

The settings do not properly initialize at this time, so you'll need to Pause > Options > Mods > Enemy Randomizer > Modules and turn each module OFF and then back ON.

I only want Bosses shuffled!

You can choose which enemies are shuffled in the mod's menu. The pins of the Enemy Randomizer channel has a list of the names of bosses, as well as a spreadsheet of all enemy names.

Can I use it with Randomizer 4?

You can, but Enemy Randomizer doesn't make changes to the logic, so it's not recommended to use Skips that are enemy related. Additionally, items that come from Enemies may not spawn correctly.

Wacky idea for a hollow knight boss mod- time traveler hornet in the Junk pit, trying to prevent the knight from delivering the delicate flower to the godseeker, which would cause the timeline to collapse by banishing the Shade Lord before|| it saves hornet in Silksong.|| Witch crest, with tools and maximum plasmium- she's here to save the timeline!

Hornet has her silksong hud, mirrored on the right side of the screen- each mask is 25 damage, but in addition to her maxed out masks, she also has max lifeblood masks, for|| 450|| base HP. Once she's out of blue masks and into real masks, Phase 2 adds ||Witch crest multibind || potentially healing 100 HP and damaging Knight as a counter, with ||reserve bind and Druid's eye||. Phase 3, when ||Reserve bind|| is spent, she adds the ||curvesickle ||and ||Plasmium injector|| to her moveslot, up to the correct maximums.

in my opinion, anyrad 1.0 is like at least 50x harder than ultimatum radiance. ofc this is completely subjective but i would imagine that other experienced players would have a similar opinion.

Verify that you are using the correct installer and patch!

• For normal modding you should use a current patch installer (such as Lumafly or Scarab) and you must have Steam Betas set to "None"
  • Pirated copies / Unofficial ports are not supported
• Modding on 1.4.3.2 using "Mod Installer" / "Mod Installer 2" is no longer supported.

How it works

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world.

This error can happen for several reasons. Read through all of the common ones below to see which might apply to you.

• "Hollow Knight isn't responding"
  • This isn't actually a crash, you just need to wait and let the game load. This is common with mods that have a lot of Pre-loading (like Pale Court, Enemy Randomizer, WeaverCore, and mods that load a lot of skins/audio).
• Your game patch doesn't match your installer
  • Modding is now done on patch 1.5.78+, required by all current installers. If you're on Steam, make sure your Beta is set to "None"

Common MacOS Problems & Fixes

Installer cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer:

On MacOS 15 (Sequoia) or later:

• Try to open the app once, then go to the System Settings and click "Privacy and Security" in the side bar.
• Scroll down to the security section. The installer should appear there, click the "Open" button next to it.
• Click "Open Anyway". You might need to enter your password there.
  With an older version of MacOS:
• In the Finder on Mac, locate the app you want to open. Don’t use Launchpad to do this! It doesn’t allow access the shortcut menu.
• Control + Left-Click the app icon, then choose "Open" from the shortcut menu.
• Left-Click "Open".
  • Note: You may need to do this twice, as the "Open" button doesn’t always appear the first time.
    The app is now saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it like normal.

Installer doesn't open correctly on MacOS:

• Right-Click the Installer icon, and select "show contents".
• Go into Contents then to the MacOS folder, and double-click the file with the same name as your installer (Scarab or Lumafly).
  • If that step didn’t start the installer but instead opened a terminal window with an exception saying that the access to a path was denied, you’ll need to run the app as administrator:
  • While in the MacOS folder mentioned above, right-click the folder’s name in the path at the bottom of the Finder’s window, and select "open in terminal".
  • Type the command sudo ./Lumafly or sudo ./Scarab (depending on your installer) in the terminal window then press enter.
  • Type your password, then press enter. The installer should now start.

Modding and Achievements

• Mods do not normally prevent you from getting Achievements. However, since a recent Steam update, some players report not obtaining them.
  • If you are missing achievements, opening the game in vanilla and setting at a bench may sync them again. You can also get them using the HollowKnightAchievementManager mod.
  • If you want to prevent them, you can use the Disable Achievements mod.
  • If a mod changes/removes something that's part of an achievement trigger, such as skipping something with QoL, then you won't get that achievement. Some mods that rely on SFCore such as Hallownest Vocalized can sometimes prevent achievements from working.
• In some cases, achievements are still earned, but the pop-ups do not come up when modding.

Hollow Knight Crashes upon opening after installing mods ⚠️

This error can happen for several reasons. Read through all of the common ones below to see which might apply to you.

• "Hollow Knight isn't responding"
  • This isn't actually a crash, you just need to wait and let the game load. This is common with mods that have a lot of Pre-loading (like Pale Court, Enemy Randomizer, WeaverCore, and mods that load a lot of skins/audio).
• Your game patch doesn't match your installer
  • Modding is now done on patch 1.5.78+, required by all current installers. If you're on Steam, make sure your Beta is set to "None"
  • "Mod Installer" (Zote) and Mod Installer 2 work with version 1.4.3.2, and should no longer be used. Tutorials saying to use these are outdated.

Yes, Lumafly mods are only compatible with 1.5 (latest patch) You can see your version on the title screen of the game or by checking on steam if you've opted into any betas. But if you were successfully using Scarab you're probably already on the current patch

Modding and Achievements

• Mods do not normally prevent you from getting Achievements. However, since a recent Steam update, some players report not obtaining them.
  • If you are missing achievements, opening the game in vanilla and setting at a bench may sync them again. You can also get them using the HollowKnightAchievementManager mod.
  • If you want to prevent them, you can use the Disable Achievements mod.
  • If a mod changes/removes something that's part of an achievement trigger, such as skipping something with QoL, then you won't get that achievement. Some mods that rely on SFCore such as Hallownest Vocalized can sometimes prevent achievements from working.
• In some cases, achievements are still earned, but the pop-ups do not come up when modding.

I’m not very good at coding but it isn’t that hard to make custom quest chains and event flags right? Hell I’m aware of a level editor mod. After that all you need is the art changes right

Now, I’m not quite sure alternate act 3s are exactly a thing that’s possible to code in. But you could perhaps add an “if [secret route conditions met]” event flag to substitute the title card and map changes for the modded content

If you mean that you have Bepinex installed, then you can manually download mods, and put them into the Plugins folder in the Bepinex install.

Common issues

• If the Skin List is covering up other mods, you can toggle it with Del or Fn+Del. You can edit this Keybind in the Custom Knight menu.
• If your skin doesn’t show up in the menu, ensure that you extracted it from the zip/rar/etc it came in (tutorial: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1207486627124093019/1403869873192571024/i.png).
• If your skin doesn’t work, go to Options > Mods > Custom Knight > Advanced > Fix My Skins. After this you may need to click Reload in the previous menu.
  • Upgraded Dream Shield (UDS) breaks Custom Knight’s first launch. To use both mods at once: disable UDS, open a save with only Custom Knight and wait until it stops lagging. You can then close the game and enable UDS again.
• If you see White Boxes ◻️, restart your game. You may also need to apply skins in a small room like a stag station.
• Ensure that you apply skins from the Pause Menu when your save file is loaded. Skins applied from the Main Menu only affect new files.
