Honestly that doesn't make any sense. The enemy rando is still an alpha but it's not know to corrupts saves and since the dremer isn't an enemy there's no reason it should be impacted at all.

How it works

Note: this is for Desktop/Laptop. You cannot mod the game on Xbox consoles

• Use Lumafly (it has additional support for this version that other installers currently don't have)
  • Download: https://themulhima.github.io/Lumafly?download
  • Make sure that the Lumafly's exe isn't in Downloads. Ideally put it on your Desktop.
• Right-Click the Lumafly.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
  • It should automatically find the install and ask if it's correct. If it doesn't find it, then you will need to link it to the Hollow Knight.exe found in C:\XboxGames\Hollow Knight\Content by default.
• After installing / installing any mods, wait about a minute before launching the game (this is because Windows does a weird thing for Xbox Games things, and it makes copies of files)

I mean, terraria is prone to npcs desyncing but in that game you can just like, sync the state hp and position of the npcs currently in the array of npcs and at 60 tps that hasn’t caused too many issues. It probably doesn’t work like this in hollow knight but syncing The entire code of an npc for it to be in the same location doing the same thing on both screens, the fuck?

Frogcore updated at one oint shortly before 1.5, and it broke a lot of mods that depended on it

The problem stemmed from the fact that TC didn't really use standardized ways of doing anything.
Each enemy is implemented very differently, and needed major custom re-writes to work.

That being said, the dev of HKMP came up with another way to handle things, and has been working on and off on it for a couple of years. There's a beta build of the new version available to his Patrons, that implements the new entity sync system.

Nvm, turned off split cloak, cdash, and claw and it worked.

It shouldn't have problems with Split items, but if you're randomizing Radiant stuff it does increase the overall generation time

As it does add several locations with big logical requirements

Depending on your PC and other rando settings, it usually takes somewhere between 1 to 3 mins for me

Save Files

What do save files looks like?

• Each Hollow Knight save file is a user#.dat where # is the save slot for the file
• You can rename user3.dat to user1.dat to set it to your first save slot
• You can keep a copy of all of your save files by copy and pasting them into a different folder on your computer

Reverting Backups

• Automatic backups are called user#.dat.bak#, where the first # is the save slot, and the second # is the backup number. You will usually have your last three backups
• You restore a backup by deleting the main file, and then removing the .bak# part of the backup version

Modded Saves

• A modded save may also have a user#.modded.json (and similarly named backup). This file and the user#.dat are part of the save

Where are the files?

• On windows, the default path for Save Files is:
  • %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
  • You should just copy and paste that path directly into the File Explorer path bar at the top.
• For other operating systems (and Xbox Games), type ?tag saves into chat

Editing save files

• MoreSaves: With the MoreSaves mod installed, you can edit save files from the Menu, by going to Options > Mods > MoreSaves
• QoL: Opening a save with QOL installed will create an extra save file called user#.json, which can be edited using Notepad or a similar text editor
• DebugMod: While not an intended purpose, you can edit some parts of your save file using Debug, such as Nail Damage, and those changes will remain even after uninstalling the mod

• Charm Crab is supposed to rebalance the game to be a little bit harder (shouldn't be used with other mods)
• The Glimmering Realm is a Second Quest for the game, which expects you to manually map it as you explore, and increases the general difficulty. (Shouldn't be used with other mods)
• Randomizer can have everything set to vanilla, and then some things tweaked (like starting masks decreased), and/or very select things randomized.

They include a variety of settings such as item previews in shops, paths that take quite a bit of time to complete like path of pain, etc, you can go to more randomizer settings -> long locations options for more details

Modding and Achievements

• Mods do not normally prevent you from getting Achievements.
  • If you want to prevent them, you can use the Disable Achievements mod.
  • If a mod changes/removes something that's part of an achievement trigger, then you won't get that achievement.

• In some rare cases, players report not getting achievements when modding. While this is not normal, it should be mentioned that it can happen.
  • This is often tied to them doing something like skipping something with QoL (such as credits), and thus skipping the actual trigger for the Achievement.
  • Some mods that rely on SFCore such as Hallownest Vocalized can sometimes prevent achievements from working.

How it works

That completely depends on the mod, and on wether or not you open the save in question while the mod is disabled

You can disable it and keep playing your save, just make sure that you saved on a bench that isn't in a Pale Court area before disabling the mod. Your data will be saved, so if you enable the mod again later you'll get your progression back

Hollow Knight Crashes upon opening after installing mods ⚠️

This error can happen for several reasons. Read through all of the common ones below to see which might apply to you.

• "Hollow Knight isn't responding"
  • This isn't actually a crash, you just need to wait and let the game load. This is common with mods that have a lot of Pre-loading (like Pale Court, Enemy Randomizer, WeaverCore, and mods that load a lot of skins/audio).
• Your game patch doesn't match your installer
  • Modding is now done on patch 1.5.78+, required by all current installers. If you're on Steam, make sure your Beta is set to "None"
  • "Mod Installer" (Zote) and Mod Installer 2 work with version 1.4.3.2, and should no longer be used. Tutorials saying to use these are outdated.
  • There aren't installers for other patches, like 1.2.2.1. For speedrunning mod help, type ?tag 1221 into chat for more info.
• Something didn't install correctly
  • Right-Click the installer, and select "Run as Administrator"
  • Ensure that the installer isn’t in a .zip file (if you got it as a .zip, you'll need to Extract it)
  • Make sure that the Installer is out of your Downloads folder
• You're on Linux/Steamdeck
  • Add -force-opengl to the steam launch options.

This error can happen for several reasons. Read through all of the common ones below to see which might apply to you.

• "Hollow Knight isn't responding"
  • This isn't actually a crash, you just need to wait and let the game load. This is common with mods that have a lot of Pre-loading (like Pale Court, Enemy Randomizer, WeaverCore, and mods that load a lot of skins/audio).
• Your game patch doesn't match your installer
  • Modding is now done on patch 1.5.78+, required by all current installers. If you're on Steam, make sure your Beta is set to "None"

Scarab is worse at handling large mods than Lumafly, because Scarab is more prone to timing out if you have a slow or unreliable connection.

There are quite a few mods that sync some things, there is itemsync which has to be used with randomiser to sync items, you have ghost hunter (I think ?) and soul link (im very unsure about those name) which sync things like boss hp and make you able to see the other players enemy

But fully syncing all enemies is not possible right now because it is a real technical challenge to make it work

Some are backup files, if you've modded before some are modded save data. I'd recommend backing up everything that has the number of the save slot you care about.
