Cant change my custom knight skin in a save slot from 2nd page forward using MoreSaves mod.
It works if I equip a skin in a file from 1st page -> quit -> open save from other pages

Custom Knight bug

Affects people using MoreSaves or HKMP Tag
The problem happens when using any mod that doesn't use the original 4 Save File slots. Playing on a file other than the original ones completely breaks Custom Knight as it only expects those four. This not only causes glitchy things to happen, but can also make other mods not work correctly.

More Saves Work around

• You can press the 📝 button on the Custom Knight entry in Lumafly to edit the Global Settings file for it, then add entries to the SkinSave section at the top.
• You need to add 4 entries for each page you have in MoreSaves (so if you have 3 pages, then you need at least 12 total entries)

HKMP Tag

• You will need to Disable Custom Knight when Tag is Enabled, or Tag will not work correctly.

Missable goals are painful. I'm all for adding cursed goals like 5 Rad bosses or stuff that isn't meant for competitive racing, specially in a GTTOS format that usually is very painful to get the earlier goals but often very trivial after a few columns

• Use Lumafly (it has additional support for this version that other installers currently don't have)

  • Make sure that the Lumafly's exe isn't in Downloads. Ideally put it on your Desktop.
• Right-Click the Lumafly.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
  • It should automatically find the install and ask if it's correct. If it doesn't find it, then you will need to link it to the Hollow Knight.exe found in C:\XboxGames\Hollow Knight\Content by default.

Can you be a bit more specific? You can change the knight's skin (including the hud) with Custom Knight, if you want to edit some values such as the amount of masks you can do that with DebugMod

you can try the reset bind but to my understanding it's not fully reliable & if that's the case you'll need to manually undo everything you did

Yeah, debug is meant to make permanent edits to your file. If you didn't make a backup before hand, then you usually need to manually undo stuff

I don't know if the Reset bind affects anything other than Nail Damage, tbh

How to fix Installer Errors

• Make sure Hollow Knight is CLOSED.
• Make sure that the Installer isn't in your Downloads folder (Desktop or a folder on the same drive as your game install is best).
• If the installer is in a .zip, then you must extract it (tutorial: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/910762350267744276/1135824458041540629/image.png), and move all files to the new folder.
• Right-click the installer file, and select "Run as Administrator".

Windows won't let me open the Mod Installer

• If there's a Pop Up that says "Windows Protected your PC", then click "More Info" (on the left), and then a "Run Anyway" button will appear to click.
  • This happens because Windows automatically blocks apps that don't pay Microsoft and go through the process to have their app Verified by Windows.

Installer vanishes after downloading / loads a blank screen

This is commonly because one or more issues:

• The installer was left in a .zip or in the Download folder. (It's recommended to put it on your Desktop or on the same Harddrive as your game installation)
• The installer may need to be run as Administrator (Right-Click it, and select "Run as Administrator")
• The installer is being blocked / removed by built-in security software, such as Windows Defender
• The installer is being blocked / removed by third-party security software (Avast / Norton / MacAfee / etc)
  • If you are not sure how to create Exceptions in your Security software for programs, then you can see this guide or you may need to google how to do it for the software that you use.

So I changed the file name of skins and in the skin menu when I hit pause there are a ton of default skins in addition to the ones I renamed, I think when I renamed the files it replaced them with defaults and added the renamed ones as well. Is there any way I can remove the extra default skins?

You can solve this by deleting custom knight's global settings, which can be done in various ways:
If you're using Lumafly, you can click the clock-looking button in the mod's description. Be careful, doing this will remove your skins so if you use this method, make a backup of your skins before (copy the content of your skins folder somewhere else, then after resetting custom knight copy your skins back into the skins folder).

You can also go to your saves folder (Lumafly has a button to open it) and manually delete both CustomKnight.GlobalSettings.json and CustomKnight.GlobalSettings.json.bak

How it works

Save Files

What do save files looks like?

• Each Hollow Knight save file is a user#.dat where # is the save slot for the file
• You can rename user3.dat to user1.dat to set it to your first save slot

Reverting Backups

• Automatic backups are called user#.dat.bak#, where the first # is the save slot, and the second # is the backup number. You will usually have your last three backups
• You restore a backup by deleting the main file, and then removing the .bak# part of the backup version

Modded Saves

• A modded save may also have a user#.modded.json (and similarly named backup). This file and the user#.dat are part of the save

• On windows, the default path for Save Files is:

Common issues

What do save files looks like?

Fury of the fallen is amazing.

I didn't intentionally take damage, I just used it as it was intended and even then it was really useful for Pale Prince.

I would usually be at one mask when he was at the last 500/1000 HP and Fury of the Fallen significantly shortens the final bit.

I tried to beat regular Inferno King Grimm but ended up giving up because I felt like the pupperfish attack requires too much time to learn to do consistently compared to everything else. Maybe I just suck at bullet hells but it felt like I had a choice between spending way too long trying to get the pupperfish attack consistent or praying to RNG.

what you wanna do is to dash to the edge of the arena (doesn't matter which side) then you want to jump high and double jump to gain as much height as possible to use descending dark. By doing this, you've lured countless orbs to going above you which gives you a free path to dash to the next edge of the arena. From there you just repeat the strategy until the pufferfish phase ends.

The only attack I really struggled with were his void cancer daggers.

Because although all of his attacks are obviously much harder than PV's the reaction time needed for them is pretty much the same.

Except for the void projectiles, at least for me.

But thankfully they have pretty decent down-time to land some hits.

Common issues
