I've never heard of a mod that adds stairs, if it's part of whatever is causing you fall damage I'd suggest looking in the readme or just use debug & noclip down.

Imo just use Debug to make it easier as you desire. You can:

• Enable Infinite soul
• Enable Infinite Health (like inf soul, but don't need to spend time healing)
• Reduce the Timescale to make it easier to perform inputs

man the custom knight resources section is looking a bit underwhelming, kinda makes sense though, I guess what's there just tends to work for most people. lacking in cross platform tools and those that are either aren't being maintained or are lacking in the feature side. unfortunately neither tool is written in a language I'm familiar with so I might have to add to the pile of tools with a new one rather than help with an existing one like I intended to . There's some features from both programs I want so I might see what I can make while I work on my own custom knight skins.

yeah I was referring to NSP and CKC. the note about CKC mentions it only supports a very small subset of what can be skinned (notably lacking several things I planned to skin) and NSP/SP, while they can get the job done, I would prefer the additional features CKC offers. Unfortunately I'm not super familiar with typescript, rust, or python 😅. the first two seem to be what NSP is written in and CKC appears to be python.

If you join the modding server, there are more skin artists there than here that might be able to suggest a workaround if there's something specific you miss between them

SP/NSP can actually pack anything, which is why they are reccomended over CKC.

CKC has a thing to help make it easier to skip duplicates, but that feature isn't really needed if you're actually paying attention to the file names when you work on stuff (as the file names tell you which sprite number they are)

also if you use the 'check' feature of SP after editing a sprite, it checks for duplicates too.

But yeah uh NSP literally doesn't function on my machine apparently. I selected the root folder and 1 of 2 things happen.

• it crashes
• it brings me to an extremely broken appearing ui and loads nothing

And in terms of features, unless I'm missing something that wasn't shown in screenshots ckc appears to have a dedicated animation preview option which would be nice given that HK doesnt particularly enjoy being run at the same time as other resource heavy programs (like art apps) and fine tuning the exact speed inside my software to ensure everything looks right would have to happen per project file and won't produce accurate results because krita does this funny thing called never caching frames which introduces some nasty lag regardless of the layer count for some reason.

I dont have a ton of free time so making that part efficient is important to me as I want to be able to spend as much time working on the skin as possible.

to preview the animation in SP you just click the animation clip and it auto plays on loop.

For krita, if its lagging, usually just let it run through the whole animation a few times on loop and it'll stop lagging.

Not sure where you found your resources but what you got is either wrong or really outdated. To get debug on current patch just get an installer (Lumafly is preferred over Scarab) and use it to install debug

Hi, last time i played this game with mods I used a mod installer and used a mod that added a harder hornet fight, I think it was daughter of hallownest.

trying to get my krita documents for custom knight skin I'm working on to have an accurate framerate for previewing how the animations look

so I've been thinking that but it felt like it was a bit off. so I started doing some eyeball comparisons and like. it is 12 yeah but it seems like it's a slightly faster 12. like it's slightly higher than 12. so I decided to look at Custom Knight Creator, where it's animation preview feature lines up almost perfectly if not entirely perfectly with how the ingame animation looks. and it uses an 80ms timer which maths out to a framerate of

12.5????

interestingly enough at 100% speed and 12 fps in krita the in game animation seems to fall in and out of sync with krita even if they were never in sync to begin with. meaning that I don't have the right framerate in krita.

I think it does vary for different animations and iirc NSP playback is at their in-game speed (SP plays everything at 12 fps) but rather than worry about it, I found it easier to just do everything at 12 fps when skin making. It's close enough that the krita previews do the job of helping make sure things look ok just fine.

hey yall, I've played Hollow knight before on Switch and recently got it on pc, and I've been downloading some mods for it so I can have a new experience, I was wondering if there are any major mods I should look for, any major mods that can't be found on Scarab, and if there are any mods that don't work together

I'm busy downloading a ton on Scarab as we speak, once I'm done I'll let yall know what I've got

I'm also pretty new to pc gaming and modding in general, my only experience being with some mods for Inscryption

so any general tips and advice would be welcome

mods are not always designed with compatibility in mind, so yes, some of them will break each other. Couldn't tell you which ones are compatible and which ones aren't since there are so many, so if things aren't working, disabling mods until you find the problem one is a solution.
Make sure to read any read mes if a mod has one, they often explain how they work.

Custom Knight is the big skin mod. Pale Court is a popular late game fanmade dlc. Randomizer 4 is also always popular. Otherwise, just peruse the installer and see if anything looks interesting to you. Most people have switched to the Lumafly installer, which lets you sort by bosses, gameplay, and other tags. Unsure if scarab has that.

• Install it using Lumafly
• You must have ||All dreamers||
• You must have ||defeated a specific boss:|| ||White Defender||
• You must then find the location that connects each Knight to the world. You can watch the Launch Trailer if you want directions where to go.

Known problems with Pale Court

• MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE LATEST UPDATED VERSION
• AdditionalMaps, Randomizer 4, Extra MenuBackgrounds, EssenceAlways (and any mod that attempts to force Essence drops) aren't compatible, and will prevent you from being able to enter fights.
• Using a BenchWarp Deployed Bench in new areas will break the file
  • If you accidentally do this, then close the game, disable Benchwarp, then open the file again. Get off the bench you spawn at, and sit down again. Then save+quit, and you should be able to enable Benchwarp again.
  • Alternatively, you can open your user#.modded.json for that file, and edit "atDeployedBench": true, -> "atDeployedBench": false, . You can type ?tag savefiles for more information.
• HK Vocalized may prevent you from accessing fights
  • (This appears to not be consistently reproducible, but if you can't enter fights, then try disabling it)
• Skill Upgrades will prevent Charms from working correctly
• Hollow Point will not work if Pale Court is installed
• Any mod that adds new Charms may prevent Charms from working.

If you're having other issues, then please read #1090079233520451714 and create a #1057825333841240104 post with the requested info and any details. Be aware that Pale Court was not designed to be compatible with other mods, and you will usually need to choose between using either Pale Court or the other mod(s).

It works on other Safe files but not on the new one

Are you able to collect the charms though? Because there are some visual glitches that can happen with the dependency that's used to add more charms (usually that's the other way around, people see more slots than there should be, but honestly given how often that occurs it would be worth checking if you can still get them)

I joked with Colette about adding a note at the top of the doc a while back that some skins might require winrar or 7zip in bright red so we could watch people inevitably ignore said note.

FWIW I don't plan to teach people to extract .rars anymore than I intend to teach people how to literally save a file (which yes people have asked how to save a file). Those are basic computer skills that can be easily googled if someone doesn't know

Fwiw, literally any game/mod installer will flag positive for "generic trojan" because of what that means and what an installer does.

How it works

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world.
Enemies have separate health and will usually be in different places; Items/abilities must be collected separately; and Breakable objects must be broken by each player. Player attacks happen in each player's world, damaging any enemies/players it comes in contact with. A player is only hurt by the enemies in their own world. This page explains how you can use other mods and addons to synchronize some aspects, and improve your experience.
