More than likely though, you have incompatible mods (if two mods try to affect the same thing, then stuff breaks).

You can have a ton of mods without issue if they're all made to work together. Like, you can use pretty much all Rando-related mods together (assuming they were made by people active in the modding spaces; which is all except for MaskMakerNotches and CharmCrab iirc). You can also use most (if not all?) Cosmetic mods with other stuff without issue (except for CustomKnightPlus and AssymetricKnight)

Common CK issues/fixes

• Verify that the skin was installed correctly.
• Ensure that you're enabling it from the Pause Menu, not the Main Menu.

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

This isn't a mod, but I'm not sure where else to ask for technical help. My hollow knight has started lagging when a few days ago it was running at 60fps on max settings. I've tried going back to the beginning of the game so I know it's not just the graphical intensity of the area I'm in. I've also turned off vsync I have a computer well above the requirements so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Randomizing every thing shouldn't be a problem, it's likely the combination of cursed setting plus your skips - you can't do damage boosts for example when you only have 1 mask & no hope of getting more. Maaaaybe it will generate if you leave it long enough but just turn down the skips or turn down the cursed & you're more likely to succeed

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside

Mods/Controller not working correctly on Steam Deck
Issue: Steam Deck installs the Windows version of HK, then runs it in proton. This would be fine except that you install Linux Scarab, which replaces the Assembly-Csharp with the Linux version, and then it doesn't like to work correctly on "Windows" anymore

Solution: Go to the HK Library page, select Properties -> Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and select "Steam Linux Runtime" (Note: not the sniper or soldier versions)

This will reinstall the Linux version of the game, and move some files around, so you'll need to select "Change Paths" in Scarab and change it to the new install path, then reinstall your mods. After this, everything should be working.

that's actually nothing to do with room rando, it's a vanilla bug that your shade spawns at an unreachable coordinate if you die in that room

To manually install mods on 1.5.78.
🔹 Download the mod (it'll be either a dll file or a folder).
🔹 Go to your /Mods folder and create a folder with the name of the mod.
Note: You can use your installer to Open the Mods Folder
🔹 Move the mod file(s) into the newly created folder.
➡️ Run the game.
