I played with Charm Crab for a few hours and man, is this broken- a) sometimes I had total invincibility- until I turned it off and on again and b) sometimes the enemy would be hit and I would get soul when I was nowhere near the enemy. I really only noticed it at bosses but after Mantis Lords I had to quit since I wasn't enjoying it. Harder enemies are fun but if they are, why are you helping me??

Why would it be illegal to move an item you bought, using a different hardware should not change your right to the software license. I'm talking about ROM dumping from something you already bought in which case you only have one purchased copy of the game and just play it on different hardware. Example: Buy it on switch, download switch emulator, transfer already bought software to pc. This process is legal, but I guess the mod thing does not take law technicalities into account in order to avoid the possibility of piracy

Because that just happened to me, I whacked him, died, was teleported to Sheo's place and got the dialogue you get if you save him

It could just be a glitch but it seems so fortuitous lol

Do I have my settings wrong on MoreDoors or something? Managed to softlock myself in Deepnest after opening the door from one side after which the other side of the transition was still closed. Then it sent me straight back to the other side of the transition but the door on that side was closed again. Now I'm in an endless loop with the game forcing me into the transition on both sides on entry animation.

Might have an outdated dependency or might be a bug, hard to say without sering a modlog. But if you have debug installed you should be able to no clip your way out of the loop with good timing.

After installing, in order to actually use the mod
When the mod is correctly installed, you should see it at the top-left of your main menu, with the other mods you have installed.

If there is also some larger text that says "Load Enemy Randomizer", then press that button to randomize the enemies using the default settings (Note: you will need to wait a few minutes while this loads). If the button is not there, then go into Options > Mods, and Disable the mod, and then re-enable it. You will also need to close the game entirely, and re-open it.

There's a "secret" sigil for beating P5 hitless, that you can't see one you've done All Bindings. Iirc, the game keeps track of your hits in all Pantheons, but only has the display for the final one.

People of the HK discord! I present White Sprite glitch. It makes every frame of the knight's animation a white box(also the HUD). It can be performed with the custom knight mod by selecting a new skin in the pause menu and quickly changing to another skin after the first skin loads (spam clicking works too). If someone has already discovered this then you can just forget this post existed but until then this is new to me.

btw if you don't want to be a box anymore you can turn of the custom knight mod or just relog your profile

Hello, I installed scarab on the steam deck along with a few mods for skins, but when I play my controls don't work, nor does plugging in an external controller.

Mods/Controller not working correctly on Steam Deck
Issue: Steam Deck installs the Windows version of HK, then runs it in proton. This would be fine except that you install Linux Scarab, which replaces the Assembly-Csharp with the Linux version, and then it doesn't like to work correctly on "Windows" anymore

Solution: Go to the HK Library page, select Properties -> Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and select "Steam Linux Runtime" (Note: not the sniper or soldier versions)

This will reinstall the Linux version of the game, and move some files around, so you'll need to select "Change Paths" in Scarab and change it to the new install path, then reinstall your mods. After this, everything should be working.

Scarab.exe vanishes after I start it!
This happens when you have antimalware software that falsely flags Scarab as being malicious. To fix it, you will need to make an exception in that program for Scarab and/or Scarab's folder.

If the button is not there, then go into Options > Mods, and Disable the mod, and then re-enable it. You will also need to close the game entirely, and re-open it.

Save Files
The save files for Hollow Knight are shared between all installs of the game, and are easily interacted with.

Additional note: Charm Crab is apparently a "game overhaul" mod, that modifies a lot of things in the game (I know it modifies charms, but I think it tweaks a few other things as well). It's meant to give a new experience to a fresh playthrough, but it notably conflicts with most mods other than plain Rando.

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside

Okay so this is a really out there question and I am 100% aware of it so please don't judge me too harshly. I'm a very open nonbinary LGBTQIA+ advocate and streamer on twitch. I pretty much have my gender identity on my sleeve at all times on my twitch page, now here's where this starts to actually be a genuine question about the custom knight files that are in the pinned messages of #archived-modding-help

I saw the nonbinary cloak knight skin and I like it and all....but it doesn't do anything to the masks or any of the other aspects of the knights spells or anything its just a nonbinary cloak on the knight. Are there any mods or custom huds that are nonbinary themed? Cause I also want my attacks and mask to look different when I have a custom skin on my streams if that makes sense

The only reason I didn't send this in #archived-modding-help is because it's not an issue with me installing a mod or getting a mod to work or troubleshooting so.....

Pretty much all publicly available skins are in ColetteMSLP's skin doc (Which is the giant one in the pins). If it's not in there, then it doesn't exist.

You can always use the existing base, and add the stuff that you want for a personal skin though.
