Play save if you struggle, don't try actively damage him, many of his attacks are very punishing for mistakes, if you want more detailed explanation, find a video that explains it in depth.

Yes, and normal focus is more than enough to heal once, he rarely managed to damage me while that happened even when I initially struggled.

Well, duh, most of damage you take from bosses is lack of knowledge of their patterns. It's rare when boss is genially place you in position where it's not your fault you took damage. Maybe I take this stance because of I 100% silksong

Eh, not really intended to be possible until late game, you can pogo on background decorations in top entrance and climb out if you have mantis claw. Otherwise just stumble around until you manage to go through.
