Make sure you retain as much Soul as possible. He doesn’t give you much time to heal so if there’s a long enough pause, take it for sure. Having Dashmaster equipped is a good one if you found that charm previously

you should generally be spending most of your time on the ground (just swing nail or shoot spell and the traps on the ground are gone), but the ones higher up would have to be removed after jumping
you could bump your head on one while jumping over hornet's grounded attacks
