So what’s topic?
Is it true that part of the mod application process is the admins watching you play P5
Guess I’ll never be a mod
Me who hasn't touched HK for a year:
i've probably lost all skill in HK at this point
welp, Simo says...
like dont get me wrong the music is good but
they end in like a 2 minute loop
and you have to scour the area for like around 15-30 minutes on average
they don't sound very good when you listen to all of them at once
Video game music can be good, until you here it over over and over again
ADD ON TOP OF THE PART where you have to go back to backtrack
yup
Well if it's diverse enough, i think it's fine
honestly though restraining is also the best way of making stuff more impactful
if 90% of the music is sad piano and viola shit
it eventually stops being sad
Yes
Yes, but it can still easily stale
BUT if you restrain it to like a few songs, it will easily standout
This is why THK fight is so good
It's like that one economy law where the more of the same stuff you consume, the less satisfaction you get
YOOOO THAT MEANS YOU FINISHED SILKSONG PLAYTESTING
love it
WE CAUGHT HIM IN MY TRAP
as someone who listen to HK OST 30 times a week, mmmm not really
kinda like how i feel about epic boss fight music in Elden Ring, yeah theyre cool i guess but all of the music is like it that any |
AHHHHH (choir sounds)
DUN DUN (violin sounds)
AHHHHH SANGUINE LATIN LATIN EXMORTIS AHHHHH (DUN DUN)
they all sound the same
buy it use it break it fix it
Gwyn's theme too
Well that’s cause Christopher Larkin went crazy with the music
everything in that game usually has this loud brazen soundtrack
I should specify used to i guess
I haven't listened to the hollow knight ost in a long time
The Music of Dark Souls
Composer: Motoi Sakuraba
Track #4
This soundtrack comes with the Japanese Collector's Edition.
All Dark Souls material belongs to From Software. No copyright infringements are intended.
I'm learning a latin piece in choir and you're not far off
lmao
I feel like the souls games and such are honestly supposed to have over the top music, I don’t know why but they do
i mean yeah
I think it's like the staple
but personally i still think Bloodborne manages to have that good inbetween of not trying too be too epic
remember when we thought silksong was gonna come out in feburary XD
You have the old kingdom vibe with magic and like eldritch stuff
I never could remember Souls boss themes
enter, doom wad music
the medieval shit is way over the top on purpose
I always thought Souls soundtrack ridiculously overrated
https://youtu.be/ctay-rG5f-c?list=PL4duw93fw4wjXnecvva7h037PIrXB1G6U&t=216 one of my favorite themes from BB
Bloodborne Lyrics Translations Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORYKhaFVDRI&list=PL4duw93fw4wjzCq_IengqOkYOCa2WWS0G
DS3 Unused Soundtrack Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YocgP4HJsUs&list=PL4duw93fw4whaISrMFl54x1DgdOSzm1so
DS3 Extended Soundtrack Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PenlcNGGwgQ&list=PL4duw93fw4wi-ehOa5QMRO...
I don't even remember 90% of Souls themes
I don’t like it when it’s too over the top except for when its doom
choir should only be preserved for the Cultists
which doom? 🤨 there is a correct answer
man, remember thinking silksong would come out in 2019? not me because I never played hollow knight then
honestly id love if Larkin did some instrumental theming with the OST
Imagine being able to sing
Wait why did Wombat's pfp change
Where did the wombat go?
my discord pfp has not been an actual wombat in years
Wombat's been dead for 65 million years
Imagine being able to sing or draw or anything most people in Discord have
stuff from the citadel gets choirs and violas, ant kingdom probably would get flamenco guitars, deep docks should have more brass to it etc
Sherma theme is slide flute
I can sing pretty well
Wombat's pfp still has the same energy as the last
Uhhh ohh look at the time I, I have to do, some very real things, so, uhh answer that later
My inability to draw is worse than my ability to sing
me neither i started playin hk in 2020 cuz i was bored and came across the game theory lore vid

Larkin did a segment for Tohu and he used xylophones and this artificial bubbling glop sound to match the environment being set in a swamp
FINALLY MAKE NECRO A REAL GHOST!
This is such a confusing statement
can i hear you sing
no
Less people live in new york than you do
the issue with necro is, they cant fix the broken, they cant light the darkness, they cant hear the silent, they cant fix my heart 😔
you need that variety for the individual tracks to pop out and feel more representative of a unique area or feeling
yeah
so true so true

Sax solo
now that you said it, yeah
noooooo it's all string quartet it's coool and eeeedgy
thas so deep, have ypou heard of abiyss hollow night?
https://youtu.be/mIW7Ho4xMa4?t=99 i like how Demon Souls managed to use Brass to make stuff sound more demonic
Composed by Shunsuke Kida
what hollow knight is that the hit undertalelike game??!
Mmmm brass are cool
hi everyone
cave storylike
shut fuck up
you
shut you fuck up
argument go brrrrrrrrr
Why play Hollow Knight when Ori 2 exists?
me!!?!
how is everyone doing today
Ori 2 literally the perfect metroidvania, why play others?
anyone
I literally haven't played
because it copied hollow knight idk
And since Ori 1 sucks....
Ori 1 sucks and has a shorter playthrough time
real shit i personally just prefer ruined castle insteado f just pure nature
ori 2 is amazing, but the studio... not so much.

and from what ive seen Ori is like 90% nature
what the heck happened the moon studios

sounds like you would like this game called dark souls
i mean its called the Blind Forest not Ori and The Broken Down Former Kingdom
but still
But I'd love nature, the thing is, Ori 1 barely has any, all dark samey corrupted forest
Sameeeee
Im TIRED of latin chanting where’s my NORDIC chanting in my mythical beasts boss fights
vikings are overused
end thread
What’s wrong seriously please tell me what’s wrong
TACO ILL
Smh use egyptian stuff
try me

Thor has already been done by Marvel, Nordic is useless
for real though im hoping HK escapes into more steampunk / medieval aesthetic
I want more esperanto in music
those area with a lot of barnacles don't look graymoor
so uhh, steampunk renaissance?
ori actually has a "surface world", and you explore different islands ( more like countries but )
Ori and the Perfect Metroidvania with no Hollow Knight inspiration
Silksong
thats the idea
Also my hollow knight inspired game will have some steampunk elements in it
i really really cannot stress that im looking forward to Silksong going for a more technologically advanced country
what song are you quoting in your nickname @cerulean sable
I hope Silksong is exactly like Hollow Knight and doesn't change anything or add anything new
Earthmover
Esperanto is just cool imo
tangent
y'know what all this talk about variety in music and then the whole doom thing that i always bring up: the new doom games have some great music but honestly, they really lack that variety. its part of why music made for classic doom so much more, it just feels like it can encompass more emotions than "ah yes angry time." there is genuinely no music in the new doom games that comes close to the unique blend of menacing/breakneck in free-to-play doom mods.
My favorite DS track “The hollow knight” pst
Like having a major change of the aesthetics around the game while keeping the best elements of the worldbuilding
and a big thing for HK is not another medieval fantasy game but rather a BUG themed medieval fantasy game
I LOVE BUGS ()not real
I like HK's depressing and melancholic vibe, but if silksong doesn't feel like that i'm fine
look as much as sometimes we have the "graphics doesnt matter" angle in us, HK wouldnt exploded this much if it werent for the artstyle
bonebottom
If HK feels like the apocalypse SS should feel like you are in the middle of an economic depression
graphical fidelity
I hoping there’s kpop music in Silksong
brown colored shooter syndrome
yeah
Hoping that Lace is the main singer
a huge trope as video game technology progresses is that "more realistic graphics" = more sales
Hornet looks like a bass guitarist
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
because most people like the realistic games and lots of triple A studios are paid to make "realistic" games
She's basically just playing a double bass there
but underneath those realistic graphics is still a mess of numbers that better fucking work or else its not realistic anymore
i still think Bioshock Infinite is one of the best looking 2012-2013 games and is a testament of why having good artstyle trumps FULL BLOWN EXTRREME HIGH RESLUTION GRAPHICS AND PARTICLES the that era was aiming for
Needolin
too many pictures, text not visible
I thought you were uploading silksong screenshots
if i can upload silksong screenshots i wouldnt be talking to you guys cuz id rather be playing it instead
Damn so silksong > us?
You wouldn’t talk to us? Your fellow mod friends
Opinions?
i will destroy you guys if it means i get a copy
are mods higher beings in this server?
I'm on TV!
They can warn the admins so yes
ok a bit OOT but despite EA being considered shit, according to a lot of employees its one of the best companies to be in due to the amount of freedom and benefits
warn?
staring at the warned admin
and the pay is very good too
did simo create the server? Or was he chosen
mods get payed 😳
Simo made the server
oh I thought he had an origin story
simo is the owner, benji joined soon after
also i dont hate 2d pixel art, but at this point you better have something special to back it up if you dont want it piled in yet another shitty "2d pixel art clone" corner
Benji?
Like Elden ring lore
I have an origin story, it's not interesting but it exists
*benchy
ok
Sadly Benji is gone, just like simo
Simo's origin story is down to earth and it's cool
heres to hoping Silksong will implement realtime lighting though 😏
I thought you were chosen by team cherry
afaik most of the lighting is handmade
Well technically he was
He’s teh chosen one?
Rumor says Simo is just a regular human like us
P sure team cherry just join after knowing the HK fans made the server
no they made the server then TC caught wind of it and invited them for mcdonalds and the rest is history
or was it hungry jacks?
im serious though thats how it went
taco just summarised it, ty
I hope silson has day and night cycles, and somtimes at night you can encunter shiny enemsies and cach the,mn
Thanks for summarizing
If I make a rival hollow knight server can I playtest silksong too
they were like "oh you guys are aaustrlians too?" then they met IRL and afaik at one point Graig was actually scared that Simo and Benji were a bunch of weirdos or something like that
Or that’s what the “story” goes according to simo
2D games 🤢
they invited them over for croissants
4d gamnes😍
🥐
flashforward to TGA
ironic.
"ZALIAAANT"
i mean better than another fucking rogulike
Pixel art roguelike though
yeah
rogue
where are the other ones
"This game is an action RPG filled with a huge arsenal of weapons, skills and abilities"
is metroid a metroidvania
"with Roguelite elements"
The recipe for bad games
"This game is basically edith finch meets doom"
no because i doesn't have the metroid part of it, it's just vania dumb stupid
I can name all three good roguelites, 1. None 2. Of 3. Them
No it’s actually a 2d action platformer
look man just give me a good fucking story, i dont need another looter roguelike 2d platforming game we have so much of that now
- None
- of
- Have a Nice Death
Enter the gungeon 🥺
I'm personally partial to Enter the Gungeon
Is this the mindset on how it feels to hate triple A games?
The worst
yall better start mentioning isaac
Ok here a good story starts with a poem then characters drops into the kingdom and has to ascend to the top of it
- Monolith
- Nuclear Throne
- uhhhhhh Slay the Spire?
yes i love getting my Greatsword of Eternal Justice and Unholy Tax Vasion +5, before losing all of it again from some mob that just threw a 2k damage orb that i missed because of how much shit is going on the screen
I also enjoy nuclear throne and isaac. slay the spire ttoo
also which is why im hoping Silksong's story isnt garbage
hi shalun
ay
Reeeeeeee
MONOLITH 👹
I want more stories than gameplay now
money is bad
I want more broke developers
Isaac rebirth is sick
Oh yeah nuclear throne is goated too
su we're talking about gungeon
damn son
Oh wait I meant repentance
How many issac games are there?
2
Oh are there multiple dlc?
flash and rebirth but rebirth has a shitton of dlc
My guy forgetting about wrath of the lamb
yeah over like 6 years rebirth has gotten tons of DLC stuff
rebirth and rebirth + dlc are entirely different beasts
take him to the doctor
dats flash
Enter the gungeon has a deep and complex lore that you have to have a high IQ to understand
To be the best rogue like you only need to be mediocre
"Ok so in this game, theres this curse thing right? and its making everyone insane causing them to attack people. And you play an important part with stopping this curse because of your connections, you getting this?"
Gun go shoot
💀
Lmao
ttacco, attacker of all.
seriously i have theres a good excuse why bosses will try and kill you
if its not "cuz i was insane due to the curse" or "i thought you were a bad guy"
they don't like the look of you
ESPECIALLY the latter, so many games uses it
the boss attacks you because they're a dick
Devs afraid to make character evil
im telling you; picture me, learn-ed game developer, actually finally competent enough to make my own game. fuck curses, the player is the villain. you're told you're the bad guy. if you wanna do good things you have to figure it out
the good ending is the bad ending
Omori is a good example of choose your own morality
never mind im not developing games
True ending is bad ending -> Elden Ring
we LOVE chaos
spoilers
"Wait hold on I can explain were not-"
"HAH dont try and fool us, your lies end here"
post battle
multiple fatal wounds and 17 dead personnel later
"You are stronger than you look"
"Because we keep telling you, were not those guys"
"Im sorry, I have mistaken. This seems to be a huge misunderstanding."
you and your team 😹
There’s a lot of endings don’t worry lol
nope, you just killed a giant dog with a sword in its mouth and it was limping, feel bad
there isn't really a good reason for enemies to be attacking you other than "they are infected/cursed" or "you are a wanted criminal here"
Wait I thought you were joking tho
It should be dragon kill human because dragon evil
they are assholes
ok, 3 reasons
Like halfway I guess
shabriri?
not the best storytelling reason but it works
i love bioware's dragon age morality where being evil is
- just being a dick
i love it when games arent too on the nose with the good vs bad choices unlike RPGS where you get an option of:
"Hello good sir i dropped my ball in the well"
What action will you take?
Good: Help the the boy with his toy
Bad: Kill entire village, burn the town, assassinate the king, crown yourself the new emperor, create a slave state that kills anyone that questions your authority
actually in origin, you can just go "nah bro you're annoying" and cutscene murder people with a knife. in one, the player just fucking throws the knife into a guy's skull, like. bro chill
undertale and deltarune are interesting in their meta commentary on video game choices on morality
how does one simply drop their ball in the well ?
King of Cards struts in with the best story
Plague of Shadows
Spore did it first
have you ever had a situation where you accidentally threw the ball too high and it got stuck on the ill tempered old guy's house? yeah happened to us often
nah i mean the world the game takes place in has conflict and whatnot but nothing as severe as the hell you are about to bring upon it. im talking you're about to end the world kind of shit and if you (the player) realizes you have more choice in the matter its up to you
ahhh ok ok
plot twist: helping the boy actually ends the world because he's secretly an evil demigod, and Going with the evil route actually saves the world because you didn't help the boy/evil demigod
fair enough
didn't think alien monstrosity evolution simulator would have any deeper meaning
well, i suppose OFF had some issues that were honestly not nearly as severe as what the player causes
How wrong we were
i actually wish Silksong will have that one quest that looks super mundane only for you to land in a huge pile of shit you have no idea has been in the works for a long while now
I think I just interpreted this wrong
I feel like we're gonna have lots of that
What kind of pile of shit
maplestory does that but it's also a terrible mmorpg
say farmer said water system is getting clogged somewhere, so you go to it and dislodge wtv got stuck in it right? then you find a fucking corpse connected to some group which then traces over some 2 year assassination plot in the making
I hope nothing is what it seems
water system being clogged by a corpse is too boring
Ori 2 wellspring quest in a nutshell
How about water system being clogged by a sock
I LOVE when games hide vast amounts of content behind obscure barriers, quests and puzzles. I LOVE when I give in to FOMO and look up how to do everything and I ESPECIALLY LOVE when I end up ruining my first experience for a game because I NEED to kill every boss because its SUPER IMPORTANT
hi everyone
then the ending of the quest is finding the assassin base, and then:
"Sherma, what are you doing here"
"Ya shouldn't have found that corpse Hornet, it would've been for your own good
"
finally, justification to kill sherma.
then he instakills you (
)
but what if
tbh if your corpse disposal ends with "oopsie corpse clogged the drain!" and not "the corpse rapidly disintegrated due to heat and constant water pressure" then wtf. skissue
shalun want to kill sherma
he kills us first 💀
or, he hits you and you immediately die only to respawn on the largest prison area in the game where all of your items are taken
Uhhh counter point, FOMO is a myth because uh hello it’s a single player game 🙄
zippos gonna appear in SS to personally kill sherma if I have any say in it
there can only be one funny bug
And he’s name is sharpe
zippo vs sherma
if that isn't in Maskbearer I'll be having some words with you
Anyone else is getting a ban
zippo is maskbearer’s version of sherma
real shit though i do wish we find a huge ass prison in Silksong, one of my dreams is this giant crater thing in the floor the houses a huge prison like thing like this
i want more STRUCTURES, fuck nature
what's with the light ??? scary
its called a panopticon, its designed to make sure every prisoner feels like theyre being watched
its oppressive af lmao
is that the apiss lighttower?!?!?
what if:
oh no! my dog is dying! someone has poisoned my dog! but then you do a dog-topsy. and actually, the dog just swallowed a bone wrong. but alas! it's actually a human ulna! someone is selling human bones as rawhide treats at petsmart!
but it was only a concept made back in the 19th century iirc
no wait there actual prisons like it but it was discontinued
19th century had gamers????
sigh...
any silksong news?
playing through this structure sounds like it would give me incredible motion sickness. i will puke on you
i mean, they can easily get away by making most of the cells BG elements
sock travels to Australia to puke on you
wait i was thinking of a 3D game, not silksong
silent hill 4 had this
builds up motion sickness through the trip ?
brb going to go bite the silent hill 4 dev for motion sickness sim
It’s pronounced Hollow Knight Silksong
You laugh but that’s a plot line in the darksouls series
MY BRAIN. is massive
that's ugly as hell
but yeah the navigation in this area sucks
its basiclly spinning with corridors of prison rooms
and both end up dying turning into... "angels"
TRUE
I want a swamp area with water skitters and dragon flies. Maybe even vines you could climb on
Silksong should add a huge watermass though
Who says hollow knight silksong? As opposed to silksong
i wanna make Pharloom feel like a tourist spot
hollow knight sogsong
White Lady that also mentions years:
what ?
but a deadly tourist spot where people will shoot at you with poison needles
In silksong we already have a swamp area with lots of vines
I want a randomly generated area that can take anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes to traverse
fuck you speedrunners
eh, sounds like every other tourist spot I've been to.
really ?
one big plus for SIlksong:
The swamp is dark bluish grey instead of the typical purple or greenshit a lot of games go with
This makes my day
i dont think i usually see purple swamps
im tired of toxic green color
What color would this actually look like?
yeah, I've even seen huge fuc9kin komodo dragons before
tired of green in general 😔
we need new colors go
Greenish grey
well its that or its boring brown
shrimp colors
pink
Pink
ahsd
z
what about a red swamp? or, maybe even a scarlet swamp?
pink bubble gum swamp.
Green is nature and nature gives oxygen but green is just colors of leaves and plants but it does mean something
this logic is extremely bad
Imagine a game where you entered a massive supercomputer
fuck Michael Zaki and his swamp addiction
clearly you're not a bogbody
swamp
what did kentaro miura mean by this
MIYAZAKIIIIII
I adMIRE swamps
ok that's a good one
Bad pun
Same here
as long as hornet doesnt get stuck in some bog glue and has to mash A to get out then im fine
fromsoft adds swamps to make the other areas look even better
there's 4 or 6 more you're leaving out
yeah and iradther leave them out
i really do wish we see the ocean or something 😔
or the theoretical silksong surface
Swamps are pretty boggers
wait until you hear about how big and empty the ocean is
im still digging the idea that Silksong has a surface
I'd be amazed if TC decided to actually show the surface.
and that Dirtmouth is a cave
honestly ||swamp of aeonia|| from ||the bottom photo|| is the least atrocious swamp I think from's made
you're scratching the surface?
ill scratch you
ye cuz u got a horse
Did you know pharloom is seperated from the wastes by a large chasm
a horse that's very conveniently immune to status effects
AAAAUUUUGGGHH
is pharloom canonically a volcano? or did someone intentionally place all that lava there to confuse us
There’s was a great clip of someone yelling out Miyazaki’s name after beating the twin gargoyles because he was poisoned
What y'all talking about
Finally, a diagram I can understand!
twin gargoyles are the least ganky gank fight to ever gank
theoretical underwater anthill that filters the water to the underground cave
YOOOOOO
however, i am not good with physics, so i dont know if the weight of the water is will crush the cavernous belows
Is this supposed to be hollownest?
its Anor Londo dumbss
😚 bro the sun is really 😃
Does this look like hallownest
below ocean level ant hills
Anor Londo deez nuts
Yeah but the funny part was that he was still poisoned after the fight
yes
Yes
I thought the green stuff was greenpath
Git gud
and the top of Pharloom looks like this
final boss better be exclusively fought through QTEs or I quit
Dying Light 1
imagine making one of the best parkour and melee combat system
ok?
Are we still talking about silksong?
now, imagine if the finalboss is just QTEs
what game is this
I'm really confused
thats Dying Light 1
was thinking of halo 4 but now I'll never play dying light 1 for that anticlimax
Dark Souls 2
Why are you doing that no one offended you or did anything to evoke your anger or frustration
it’s not very dark
look i just really want a theoretical surface for Pharloom
any news on game lately?
Pharloom is underground
it would be the peak of "opposite of Hallownest"
thats what i wish youll be wrong with kiddo
Dark Souls 2 best
Eh
the surface is actually the dream realm
Waaat
noooo you can't be mad because I am
option 1. Insane and not in my right mind
option 2. cursed and not in my right mind
option 3. an asshole
Pharloom is udnerwater
Bruh no
Godmaster was the closest thing we could have for a "Sky"
best of the trilogy
the moss grotto is actually inside some guy's hanging planter
I want a blue fucking sky
just like how dirtmouth / hallownest crown is the theoretical "surface" of Hallownest ?
Twitters search function sucks
Sunny fucking day on pharloom
weather system in Pharloom
Why were u on Twitter when u could be using reddit?
there was debates here back then about how Dirtmouth is actually a cave system and that the "true" surface is way above it, and that its really just a huge ass cave
Weather is very important to me, how are ER's weather events?
That statement has no connection
Just to see a sky like this in Silksong would be a huge factor for me given you spend most of the time underground, its like those post apocalyptic bunker movies where they see the sun for the first time
Anyways Why can’t I be sent to tweets during a certain week
HK takes place in the hollow earth
you go inside a time-reversing tornado at one point
This one
true
damn Hornet having some wild dreams
if its not the sky, at least i wanna see the ocean in Silksong
god its justa hiksdhfak;shfwfasf its like a dream vacation bro
It'd be very different from Hollow Knight, which doesn't have stuff like that at all
jessus?!?!
what lies beyond
Hollow Knight is very reserved
which is why id love to see it Silksong
damn bro The Knight &
ain't enough at blue lake
especially with how much larger the areas look
one of my favorite areas unironiccally is Junk Pit
same
if you wanna see the sky and the ocean you can go to a beach ||/j||
seeing those pillars on the BG, they did the perspective art so fucking well
Yes, I think I noticed that too, was surprised
for me is mostly the new content
Junk Pit > 70% of Godmaster
ok but those pillars in the bg are pretty good tho
https://youtu.be/Z7bHykVeObo?t=16 i think VISUALLY Junk Pit is the largest area theyve made in the game
If you're like me and absolutely despise the Royal Waterways and want to avoid them while entering or exiting the Junk Pit, there's another way out. If you go left past the corpse and follow the platforms, there's a passage that leads you up to City of Tears around where the Nailsmith is. There's a wall you'll have to break down, but once it's o...
for most of Kingdoms Edge I think they its blocked by some object
then again you can also argue that for Howling Cliffs
honestly stuff like these are something we will never know, probably meant to be speculated and left open ended
Howling Cliffs is my least favorite area
its large but its bland af
It's the area where floating platforms are most noticeable as world breaking
compared to what weve seen of SS. Almost all the areas of HK are bland.
^
I mean. Its a lifeless desert
on another topic entirely
Does anyone know if Pharloom Is Canonically a volcano? if not why is there so much lava there?
but, i think Ari's full potential can be seen with a more variety of color
I just.... don't want to play Hollow Knight for a good while
HK is still has some really cool areas. Its just that SS is going to blow it out of the fucking water
hollow knight really just makes me sad man I don't wanna be sad💀
still IMO one of the best color blends from the magazine
grass
or is it moss idk
compared to greenpath
what's happening with Hornet's sprites
speaking of grass y'all got those comparison photos ? like from the moss from hk to the moss from silksong ?
Like pillow
- black soft particles
- the detailed brambles on the floor
- great broken down foreground
- surface textures are very detailed
Are you sure you didn't drink it already?
i think the best way to put it to words is its very "dense"
Real
Full of stuff, I like stuff
ur very dense
ratio
says the guy who cant even beat me in quake live lmao
I'll make you quake while you live
i wish they took the footage in a higher quality
guess we have to wait for Silksong to come out
They are keeping the quality for later
thats actuallly one of my theories lmao
put it on low quality for now like its some "classified" images
Found footage
they should've recorded it in 144p bandicam
I'm taking my break from Hollow Knight so I can love it again
i come back to hollow knight
and instead i tell myself i wish i was playing silksong instead
I want to experience first time again, and I will. But for now, I want none of it.
its like what the MMO fans says
Or maybe it has something to do with the type of games I crave right now
Im dont with HK. I did all I needed to do. I dont need to do anymore in it. Im done. I dont need to do anything else. nothing
theyre still chasing for that "dragon" like how they felt on their first MMOs
I'm feeling good stuff from videogames, just not from Hollow Knight t
Help! Im being attacked
Haiku the Robot comes out tomorrow
im still waiting for the time Bethesda actually releases a good RPG
but honestly i have 0 hopes at this point
Maybe I should look into Inscryption
Heard good things. Yet to actually play it.
its good but then again i only watched someone else play it
If you want something witha shit ton of words check out Disco Elysium
I just want more crazy games, less grounded I guess?
this but for high fantasy dragons shit
Just remake morrowind just with better graphics and some slight QOL changes
the morrowin to skyrim engine will never see the light of day imo
this wouldnt be an issue if they stopped being a bunch of coward and started making good RPGs that doesnt end with you carrying for some family member or being the chosen one
I think it will come out.
RPGs where you are not a character?
Being a character sucks
true
Yo guys I just won an argument
HK never gave that feeling tho because whats the point considering everyones fucking dead
You’re a mod just play silksong
Oh you mean an official Morrowind remake? Or do you mean the Skywind mod
Oh yes please, I want more world not revolving around you games
and if you do want to give me that feeling, at least for the love of god, make me feel like i earn it
Skywind
It's hard for me to put into words what I want from videogames right now
a lot of chosen one games feel like youre treated like a toddler whos entire family is celebrating because you placed the triangle block in the triangle hole
same
one word, historical medieval games
World and story over gameplay is part of it for sure
or at least dont give me WoW style armor
ew historical fiction
I want games to make me feel emotions too
same
I also want some insane games, crazy stuff happens
yeah I want moons to be consumed by the Void
How do you call games like Stanley Parable?
adventure
walking simulator
yeah a game that feels very personal is something ive been looking for to
That are not entirely an enclosed world?
it doenst have to involve saving the world
honestly wish games would pull down the scales again
less world ending and more your town is something you care about
i was about to say that
How do I say this...the world of Stanley Parable is not quite a self-contained universe...
"first person exploration game" according to the steam page
Everything is hard to put into words
Is everyone here familiar with the orb
puzzle platformer roguelite
have you played the new stanley parable game?
No
it came out earlier today
The orb
Atmosphere,adventure,exploration and good storytelling
I know. Im thinking of getting it since I loved the first one, but not sure if its worth it
Yes
The orb is gorb
from what I’ve heard it’s just the original but higher quality
No no and no, this is not what I'm looking for to describe it
The orb is not gorb
for me its currently
- exploration
- story
- combat
imo elden ring failed on the 2nd part for me
The orb is an egg which contains silksong, and we must hatch it
tbh I didn’t get almost Elden rings story until I beat it twice and I still don’t really
Guys have you ever won an argument (it feels so good)
supposedly there's new endings and content, but we have no idea how much
I guess I could say something about the fourth wall but that doesn't feel like it either
I thought ER story was good. But its a video game so the bar isnt very high
YES LIKE THAT TIME I PREACHED THAT SHARPE WAS VOID AND THEY ACCEPTED
Games that are not set in worlds with strict rules
yeah if you wanna win an arguement you can either say
- its your opinion
- k
- lol
- i guess, but i still think im right
The orb
- seethe, mald, cope
Have any of you played Dust's Memochi?
Dust what now
It was a bit too "AND HE WENT TO THE KING OF AHSHIENJSIKI AND BLAH..."
Dust’s Memoji
A small itch.io game
It's about memories, I want more like that, emotional, abstract
who plays itch games
ahh something Manly Badass Hero would play
jk
and i want huge ass RPGs where people die like its tuesday
have you played Lisa Ian, i heard its good
Oh yes! This!
No, but I've heard of it, doesn't seem like my type of thing
fair
i heard it will actually emotionally destroy you
and not in the sad beautiful way
but in the "why do we exist, just to suffer" way
Seems.... enjoyable
i just want games with fun combat and a simple art style
theres like 15 roguelikes for that
yeah
But seriously, give this game a try, it's like 20 minutes long, and amazing, fantastic, beautiful...
I want more like it
I think abstract was the word I was looking for
Play Outer Wilds
thinking about it i dont think ive played a lot of the shorter more abstract games
Oh. If you want emotional games. Check out the To the Moon series
Oh?
the ending was... peculiar
i once watched it firstthrough an old youtuber, which sadly was outed as a... uhhh...
yeah anyway good series
To The Moon damn 😢
oh you know it's all about coming together as people 🙂
I do wish to put into words what I want from videogames right now
thinking about it i think Disco Elysium was the only few games that hit me with that feeling
any games music also helps a lot
there was an idea
to put together a group of people
overall most of my previous games has been mindless FPS games
Currently playing that. what feeling?
Hope?
Imposter Factory
hey has there been any news
I am once again recommending Dust's Memochi
what was the one game called, where you changed the size of things
Superliminal
That’s really fun, though short
bruh
yeah. i found superliminal really fun despite how short it wad
can this replace the current sspsa
ask @charred pulsar
get on it simo
Go ahead, ask again
https://youtu.be/Eg80a-4txV0?t=46 also the music bro, it just hits you at certain points (might be spoiler for you Curly)
I do not own any of the contents in this video.
i heard there might be a secret ending possibly maybe if you ||break all the power generation sphere thingies||
Go ahead, ask again
Simo can
🤐 replace the current PSA?
Theoretically it could
I do have to agree with the music. Its very subtle, but its really good
well now I do not want to 😠
the entire OST is actually made by an old British rock band
Another recommendation: Return of the Obra Dinn
Looks good too
and a decent chunk of the OST is from their own songs that they repurposed
cool
I played a bit of this
Yes also this
Shame there's not much replay value
but it's such a cool game
Forgive the thumbnail as there are no other, but if you notice the starting horn, youll notice why its familiar

banned for lewds
yeah. but I feel we put too much on replayablity these days. Its ok for a game to be one and done
while i agree while lack of replayability can be considered as a negative, it should be more of a footnote vs to an actual con
smh everyone knows roguelikes are the best game genre
real shit
i wanna see the end
to reflect my journey
not go up the slide again because i fell halfway through it for 50 hours
beat the game 10 million times for a cool skin!
Rogue likes are exactly the opposite of what I want right now
i never liked roguelikes
That's for sure, there's nothing I want less now
Do you want vacuum cleaners
I don't know how to describe what I want
when i was playing through HK, my mind got into the "i am a hunter, i will go into the depths of this world and kill everything as the Hunter told me so"
just finding new stuff is one of my biggest incentive
mastery aside
Wandersong is also another one I recommend
If you're a vacuum cleaner knight, does that mean you kill vacuum cleaners or protect them
though it's worth noting if you make the total playtime of a game less than an hour, 90% of the steam copies will be refunded no matter how great the game is
I want games that make me feel lonely, small, emotional, lost.
Shadow of the Colossus
I'm a character from Shovel Knight
yeah
i forgot which game it is
but i think spiderman has the highest plat rate
Yeah?
yeah!
but because the achievements are relatively easy to get
I want more campfire scenes
I want more reality breaking horrors lying hidden just beneath the surface
you want outer wilds
my favorite part of HK for real
everyone wants outer wilds
you know theres SOMETHING underneath
I think I need Outer Wilds
and you let your curiousity get into you
Have you played Environmental Station Alpha? That sort of hidden horror
i've never player outer wilds but it's been recommended to me
have you heard of this game called Outer Wilds-
get into scp
I want cosmic horror for me to feel small in vastness
honestly why games that do intend replayability, i prefer it if you dont encounter every enemy
Battle Brothers had me feeling this, i was already finished with my 3rd run after 30+ failed ones, and yet hearing stuff about "Necrosavants" and how theyre super scary especially if you fight them early is what made the discovery work for me despite not being an exploration thing
this idea that i have not yet encountered this terrifying thing despite playing for close to 150+ hours added to this mystery, its hard to put it into words but you get me
got it, every game should have at least 300 hours of content
well not specifically
just that, knowing you havent seen all of the pokemons so to say
and you have to actively seek them out while people has given them the reputation to be scary and the mystery it gives is what i love
Oh, and I definitely want more ecosystem focused games
like imagine if theres no percentage in HK, and you finish the game and all youre hearing is "actually deeper into deepnest, lies this monster" etc
you just let your curiousity guide you, that theres more
fear the unknown more than the known after all
Rain World has changed me, I don't look at simple walk back and forth then attack player ai the same way anymore
It's part of making you feel like the world doesn't revolve around you
you are essentially a plague doctor, and an entire city is falling into plague
anyone can die
I'm listening
celeste is fun
I love death
but youre essentially vying for resources to keep anyone you know alive
Moral dilemas?
sometimes you have to legitimatley steal through some other guy's storage to take his medical supplies just to cure this kid
and on top of that you have to have some supplies for yourself as well
I'm looking for that too, but that was always the case for me, nothing new
and therers this certain mystery, that the plague is more than what it seems
I want it now
so yeah youre basically trying to juggle multiple sick patients AND yourself for supplies
This sounds great!
while every day that passes the town gets more desperate
more bandits, more dying people
but yeah its super oppressive
Pathologic 2 is a narrative-driven dramatic thriller about fighting a deadly outbreak in a secluded rural town. The town is dying. Face the realities of a collapsing society as you make difficult choices in seemingly lose-lose situations. The plague isn’t just a disease. You can’t save everyone. The plague is devouring the town. The chief local h...

and its difficult too
but theres like difficulty sliders for it
but like the director said "the game is meant to be oppressive and bleak, where you will have to make hard choices, and to make it easier then whats the point? but you do you i guess"
Wishlisted
you have to set up schedules on how youll route it out
take notes of who is sick or not
etc
and hope you survive the next day
cool autopsy system too
Yes, this feels like it'd be something of what I'm looking for
Thanks a lot!
but yeah the initial low scores from most of the major sites was usually one thing
the difficulty
i think it was gamespot that complained about it
I like difficulty if it serves the game
yup the game is bleak af you are an underpaid plague doctor whos literally sent to a dying town where everything is going to shit
youll end up doing evil shit like stealing or even mugging someone just to get enough supplies for your patients
if it was super easy to appease anyone then whats the fucking point?
definitely sounds like a fun game that I would pay to experience
Sounds like yes
but yeah its not just a typical survival game, theres a narrative to it, so good luck learning the origins of it
orrrr you can instead spend the precious time saving your patient instead, your call
That's all cool
yup i like games with this idea
i just dont play it because back then it reminded me of stalker and i was scared of mutants and shit
good luck choosing whether lily the 8 year old girl deserves the anti inflamation medicine more than the 50 year old expert, stuff like that, Manadalore did a review of it
but yeah its definitely a niche which is why you barely hear anything about that
the average person isnt someone whos gonna ask something like "i want a bleak survival game where i have to make tough moral choices after a long stressful day at work"
Honestly, sounds amazing
the first game had a cult following
tho the consensus is 2 feels more like a remake more than a sequel
besides 1 is like old 2000 eras old, youre not gonna miss out afaik
Alright, I will try it out
Is it still going
its done
I'll also dive deep into itch.io or something
For some abstract, intimate, emotional games
And keep looking for games that make me feel alone, small and lost
Darkwood but thats more horror 🥴
Oh yes I saw that one
Darkwood provides a new perspective on survival horror. Scavenge and explore the rich, ever-changing free-roam world by day, then hunker down in your hideout and pray for the morning light.Survival horror from a top-down perspective that is terrifying to play.No hand holding or quest markers. Horror amplifies the feelings
but not a requirement no?
Not necessarily
Darkwood looks good though
Well, I have to sleep now, thanks a lot for the recommendations, and the talk. Bye!
aight aight
Bruh .. TOP DOWN
honestly its a great new perspective
I have not seen a fully top down game in a very long time
a lot of horror games are FPS games in tight corridors where you either cant fight back or you can only do it in limited quantities
The last one was bloons tower defence
bloons goes crazy
check the part of the trailer in 1:00
I never really got into bloons hmmmm
i thought that the idea that you could see objects moving on rooms outside of your vision but not see the enemy itself added to the scariness of it
is Metroid dread considered horror or no
no
yeah that sounds scary
it's a metroidvania with horror elements
i actually hope as you go farther to the eastern part of silksong, it starts getting lonelier
dang
Why east specifically
i love how in stalker you and all other AI stalkers are cozy af inside wtv the barge but gets scarier and harder enemies spawn as you go farther from it
dunno my orientation is like west to east in terms of progression
cuz
Moss Grotto > Deep Docks
Left to right
I imagine Silksong's progression is down to the top
nah you gotta go the abyss and then you go up
going back to the air of mystery, it would be cool if theres like 2-3 areas that you absolutely do not need to go to that you need to discover for yourself
a lot of games often has a story quests that makes you go to every area
Ah yes "down to the top"
Engrish
yeah it bottom to top but like, id imagine some unexplored territories at the far extremes of it
well see
i think in HK you can easily miss 2~ areas if youre not actively seeking them
Though you probably will know since the Hive houses a boss and a mask shard and grub
one of my favorites is seeing people talk about their progression and their other friend's reaction is either "whats that area?" or "wait, you can go there through there? i went here instead"
among
Oh you mean multi entrance/exit world
actually yeah
i just mean areas in general
stuff you accidentally stumble up yourself
Yeah i see i see
despite some of the criticisms that HK is too open, i personally see that as its biggest strength
I have never seen anybody complain about HK being too open
King's Station to Kingdom's Edge i think was a cool thing to stumble if you found it from King's Station
HK is like one million times less aimless than almost every other metroidvania
because of the fact that most areas have multiple entrances
i know because i often lurk gaming discussion subs (and i dont mean r games or r gaming because those a shithole and a news only sub respectively)
but its like
way below the list
because usually its difficulty, boss backtracking and early game that i see is often the first complaints
truegaming?
that and r patientgamers
I guess different people like different design
Some just like linear progression path
patientgamers often teeters between
"i really enjoyed x" then 2 days later "x is overrated" shows up

https://xkcd.com/606/
is this the top panel for patient gamers
Then theres Witcher 3
but yeah this sub is a back and forth\
HK often had its fair share of highly upvoted posts of "Hollow Knight is a masterpiece" then "Hollow Knight was a dissapointment"
Thats any game really
nowadays tho since its past its 2017 hype period, for most part ive mostly seen 300-500 upvoted posts liking it
yeah
eitherwise this is where i got the glimpse of peoples opinions
It's impossible for a game to have everyone go i like this
espesiially games with lots of hype behind them
man can't wait to see the reception Elden Ring gets
Elden Ring overrated
so its gonna be like
"Elden Ring is the culmination of From Software's work"
-someone who hasn't played Elden Ring
then a few months later thats when the Elden Ring critic posts will show up
'ER truly feels like the culmination of everything FromSoft has ever done before'
'ER is an overrated, lacklustre, rushed game that I cannot believe got any 10/10s'
ER is an overrated, lacklustre, rushed game that I cannot believe got any 10/10s
'I'm going back to DS2'
people there unironically sometimes throw the overrated critic that it boggles me
at one point someone said "Hollow Knight only got popular because of the artstyle"
too many people like it, therefore I dislike it
guy got immediately piled with "Yeah definitely, its not like the gameplay, the richness of the lore, the soundtrack, the combat, the bosses etc is what people also loved. Nahhh they just got fooled by the artstyle amirite?"
legit i hate that type of assumption
"x people only liked y because..."
what youre gonna claim that i dont actually like the game? and that infact i am simply just dumbfounded and fooled by the graphics into thinking its good? thank you for opening my eyes, i now hate this game now that i can see the truth, forgive me for my errors

like bro you dont speak for me lmao
How many of the comments are actually good critiques vs bad ones?
for most part its genuine critics though
Ttacco would have to browse all Reddit comments on it though
Ah, that’s good at least. Better than I expected tbh
there often is a huge defend + agree discussion in the comments
which is not something I'd have anyone suffer through
even those witcher 3 posts i sent, a lot of people defends the game
I think the good critics won't stay there, no?
as long as youre not being an asshole about it usually people are fine to engage with it
Bad stuff generally tends to stick in your mind better however!
Curse our brain for that
theres a big difference from
"X is honestly such a letdown, I dont understand how anyone can like the mechanics"
vs
"X is was let down for me, but I would like to hear the thoughts the fans to better understand what they like about it"
usually the former only works if the game is hyped enough
big games like Witcher 3 or BOTW you can get away with it
but more niche games means more niche fans willing to engage against you
I think for posting stuff on internet, you should consider other people's opinion before jumping in imo
Especially criticism like this
yeah but the thing is
theres a good chunk of you vs us mentality when it comes to video games
if you dont like a game, that probably means this game is childish and wont appeal to a smart adult like you
“You’re playing the game wrong”
"Its just not for you"
I’m super excited to hear future elden ring criticism, though honestly the criticism came in faster than I expected
even your favorite games can never escape
but yeah you cant appeal to everyone
so my inbetween is TC will just appeal to a bit more of what they can without alienating what their vision was in the first place
I’d rather have devs make strange decisions if they think it’s best for their own vision. Makes for more varied games overall mechanics wise. People hated P5, and I hope TC does something like it again, with another tangible reward.
from what I've heard it's standard open world problems + balancing issues
HK isn't even that hard
I did really like Elden Ring’s solution for this actually, the revive statues
Elden Ring
i know tc mentioned they genuinely don't mean the boss run's to be punishing, and hoped they could be seen as just part of the boss run, but i also really enjoyed the feel pf the stakes of marika, especially for the harder bosses
Going to guess they quit at Soul Master/ Mantis Lords, both those runbacks were very annoying for me at least
placidusax's boss run was long but perfectly tolerable to me, anything past that wouldve had me fuming
honestly I don't mind boss runbacks as long as there aren't too many enemies
And hence proved
better than
For ER it could work better because the bosses are more demanding.
(And are longer)
surprisingly HK isnt that high up on the most voted post in this thread, that goes to Nier, Halo, BOTW, RDR2 and Witcher 3 (as usual lmao)
but yeah other criticisms i see was the bland and bleak the environment is and how boring it is early game but like i said, the boring part is different for each people, with some saying they love the slow start
I've heard complaints about ||Maliketh||'s runback which personally I can't say I share
SIR ALONNE THOUGH
GOOD LORD SIR ALONNE
I’m a little surprised that RDR2 is high up on there.
