so naturally EVERYONE used this, and this also means if you dont get headshots, you will get dumped like a bitch

Silksong is extending that combat loop by shortening heal time, Iframes, and stagger time- while increasing the cost of spells and heals.

Doom eternal is great because it forces the player to make devious fast, and the key bindings tell you enough about that

8 weapons and like 4 suit abilities. On top of WASD and everything else.
Keyboard becomes a guitar hero controller

My srat is: Deal as Much damage as Possible and then Heal from the Damage you've taken, hence why I don't even have Ascended HoG (I use Deep Focus in all of p5)

i want every weapon and every charm to have a use that is my ideal game, a 2d side scroller with all of those features, though it is quite hard to pull off without overwhelming the player with too much stuff and making the combat too complicated but i believe if tc tried it or wanted to try it. they could get it right

As for Silksong and hollow knight - decision making in combat exists within how you position yourself around the boss

Silksong needs to only pressure the player to manage their positioning faster - and add new means to do so

plus enemy weaknesses are hard to indicate in 2d without just highlighting it in red and telling you

a good example is the Market Gardener from TF2, when this thing came out people either thought it was a fucking meme weapon that "would barely see any practical use"

then youtubers started trying it as a challenge, eventually actually good rocket jump players finally showcased how they can utilize it effectively

fast forward today, Market Gardener is actually unironically used by roamer soldiers in comp 6v6 because you can easily pick unaware medics as the crit can easily one shot them at full health
