So, based on the plants' appearing to be an extension of her original form, her upright position (one unnatural to die in,) and the fact that Ogrim refers to her tear, also a fruit, as a blessing, it is plausible that she may not be dead, and her current position is the result of her merely advancing to another stage in her life cycle in which she grows outwards and takes root as a plant. Also, if there was no plant life present before her retreat to the area now known as Isma's Grove and her incorporation into the area, then the Dung Defender would have little cause to refer to it as a "grove" unless he already knows of her fate. It is possible that Dung Defender is aware of her situation, my evidence being that he calls the area a grove, defends it from all save those who have demonstrated "honour in combat," and recognizes the Knight's having consumed Isma's Tear as her blessing. If, as he says, she judged the Knight to be of good character prior to bestowing the tear, that would indicate that she is still, somehow, alive and conscious within the grove. Furthermore, Isma’s Tear both being retrieved from the plants of Isma’s Grove and not her shell and being a fruit also suggest that the plants which appear to have overtaken her are, in fact, extensions of her body.
