HK is a better game, but it could have easily been cut down on some filler stuff and progression pacing is off at the beginning. Length of the game does not matter. I beat Dread in 8 hours and am satisfied with the price

HK can be very long, it took me 25 hours to get my first ending, though obviously it can be done way quicker

As long as all the content is good and engaging I would argue such a thing as "too long" does not exist. Especially if a lot of it is optional so it can be shorter if you want it to be

I agree that the Dread environments were forgettable, but I still thought the ending was worth it. The story is not super complex and doesn't have as many nuances as HK's but Metroid has never been story heavy
