Can't comment on when or how the Silksong Switch build is done and the process etc.(rather be safe than sorry) but mostly what Wombat said pretty much.

Using HK as an example, there are initially performance and load time hiccups that occur but those get ironed out by optimisations and in some instances, redesigns (Lifeblood build onwards had some rooms be split into two for an example, to aid load times between transitions on Switch; like in City of Tears for an example)
