I mean if you interpret stuff a certain way...
the HK updates could mean the coder had some "free" time to do that (he's the one fixing the bugs and bringing HK up to new unity speed)
A reason for a coder to not being able to work on the main game is a code freeze. Those usually happen for bigger testing/bughunting phases because it's unproductive to alter the code while bugs are found. So there could have been major testing done for SS from March to iirc June, and so now would be a phase of bug fixing and increasing efficiency.
If that is indeed correct then it would be very lucky if they were anywhere close to release right now because that'd mean there were also no bugs found in testing (which usually never happens).
Probably there would be at least one more such testing phase done and then, if everything went well (and the game is ready content wise) a release candidate and a round of final testing and fixing.
this is all just a thought experiment and may be totally wrong tho
