I believe the examples of bindings in deepest align with the binding we can see on hornet's cage at the beginning of silksong and are somehow connected

Hornet going back to pharloom will lead to her discovering her mothers roots and potentially defeating whatever evil her mother ran from long ago

I also think pharloom and silk have something to do with why the weaver tribe seems to have such strong minds, obviously being displayed as a very smart and tough willed clan, and could explain how creatures like midwife escaped the infection

It also ties in with the dead weavers in the dens in deepnest, herrah controlling both tribes implies (to me at least) that the spider tribe was her army of sorts, and more of a strong, fighting species, while the weavers were her architects and innovators, explaining the distinction between one group seemingly being infected whole the other is not

The weavers strong minds prevented them from being corrupted by the radiance even though their spider counterparts fell victim to it, and eventually, they were overrun by brute force

Hence the weaver bodies, and the spiders running rampant, as well as some of the larger and likely stronger/more capable creatures like midwife and mask maker surviving

I think the "cultists" carrying her cage are part of the religious themes we can see in the gameplay demos and such, they're part of a bigger worship system of whatever the evil power is, and like you said, they want her as a catalyst to harness some sort of power from the silk, and Hornet is going to have to take down the puppetmaster figure or whatever to free pharloom from their hold

Or potentially another multiple ending scenario

In one ending you defeat the evil and sever the ties and the hold silk has on the creatures there, and in the other you become the catalyst
