In HK we get THK screaming as the infection resurfaces and then we got to the Knight appearing, setting up the main mistery of the game. In SS we have Hornet and her captors travelling in the lands between kingdoms and we get some shot glimpses of different scenarions and even some lifeforms (the wierd winged creatures) until we get the bridge and the strange butterfly and Hornet's escape.

Actually, this makes me think of something I've been thinking about. I actually think ori is a much more creative game when it comes to the upgrades you get. Some of the things you get are so cool and novel, even if they are so rarely used. Bash, those light orbs, the zipline in ori 2 and the save system all make me think of more interesting usages. This being said, I still think that hollow knight takes these more basic metroidvania upgrades goes much further with each one, and you can tell that every upgrade significantly alters the gameplay. Besides the bash, most upgrades in ori are pretty limited in usage, where in hk they open up the whole world rather than giving access to the rest of an area. I spent so long typing this on my phone that the topic may have changed
